To what end did Jesus make a whip?People are "dead in trespasses and sin".Sinners are quickened by the Holy Spirit, and then can hear, as the born again saved for all eternity.God is sovereign in saving whom he pleases. When Jesus said "It is finished", all that was needed to save was done by him.We DO in return for what he has DONE for us.

    This does not mean adding height. This means that by taking thought, you cannot prolong your life. You can't add one second to your life, so the Lord Jesus warns us to be ready always.

    A disciple, "be perfect as our heavenly Father", we failed perfection in Adam,as creatures.Can't deny Jesus said," buy a sword", but for what purpose? Are people lost because they are not good enough, or saved because they are good enough?In the Lord I put my trust. He saved me,not I myself. The death of Jesus for me is my only plea.What I know of him is only by his grace, through his word.

    Daniel; Yes, by the way you look at it, absolutely! But why does the LORD say so many times in the Law, that This Shall Be A Statute Forever Unto The Children Of Israel? Did He not know that He was going to come in the flesh and completely make it full? That doesn't seem likely!     Disciple, you never answered my question youre very vague and ambiguous which most lost people are! So a saved person'S flesh DONT SIN? (THE KEY WORD BEING FLESH!) Then why do we need a glorified body ? Whats the day of redemption? if we dont sin why does our body needs to be redeemed? ITS BECAUSE IT STILL SIN! Paul said I myself(soul) serve the law of God.     Emanuel; "My little children, these things I write unto you, THAT YOU SIN NOT!" The Apostle then goes on with words of comfort and encouragement "IF anyone sin.." but not to throw a blanket declaration over all of us that we're still in bondage. Who told you that you're sinning every day? Are you really? Jesus saves us FROM OUR SINS so that we can be reconciled to God and be His children in truth.

    I had just written a question as to the background of Matthew and then proceeded to the Commentary which says that his last name is Levi, and that he converted. I am curious about this because the old testament writers all carried some kind of Godly credentials. What did Matthew convert from, and what did he convert to? The commentary says it is written primarily to the Jews. (See next comment)

    I see a lot of confusion on here about what happened with Ham. He is cursed for fornication, it is a sin to see your parents naked according to Leviticus 18:7. He is not cursed for incest, that is heresy. What would covering the mother do to fix the problem? Also, if that were the case, she would be in the midst of sin as well.

    If you actually read not skim my comments you would get my point. I said there is no way to blasphem and not be forgiven. You can blaspheme the Holy Ghost and be forgiven. The Pharisee we're not to be forgiven because Jesus was physically here on earth. That's the difference! Charamastic believe YOU CANT BE FORGIVEN TODAY WHICH IS WRONG.     "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Leading in to this statement, Paul uses the simile of a "Schoolmaster " and the idea of Graduating has many apparently confused about the importance of the Law "because we are NOW Christians under grace." What part of any of God's commandments are we now released from keeping? Seventh-Day Sabbaths? No Covetousness? Doing no evil to our neighbor? Honoring our parents? NO IDOLS? And which of all the Statutes and ordinances? The sacrifices and observing holy days? We read in the Prophets that these too will all be kept and practiced under the full weight of Christ's Authority, and penalty by His Rod of Iron if they don't. There are many things we have yet to learn! The Apostles commanded that the Gentiles should not be held under scrutiny or bondage to keep the Law of Moses, as in becoming Jews but they DID NOT DENOUNCE IT, OR FORBID IT! Paul's teaching was to show the completeness of the grace of God in Christ for the Believer NOT to overthrow what God had enjoined to Israel for ever.

    Dear Emanuel; you are mistaken about how one can blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Are you not aware of the furious rage of blasphemy against the Spirit coming from all sides these days? What about EVERYTHING coming out of Hollywood and the entire Entertainment Industry? Also, about being "Charismatic;" you should do an unbiased study on its origins and put them alongside the Scriptures: NOT of the LORD!

But about the sacrifices under the priesthood of Aaron; in Ezekiel is described a future where the LORD IS sitting King over all the earth from His Palace in Jerusalem, and the sacrifices and first priestly services continuing!
