Wayne (cont.); Also, in the Assembly, tongues are part of the Service when there is an interpretation. There are things which God's Spirit has for us to do in the Spirit, to help the cause of God in the world. Remember Daniel; in Ch. 9; he was fasting and praying and confessing and mourning before God for three weeks, until the Angel broke through the battles in the heavens to come to answer him?
  • A disciple on John 14 - 8 years ago
Wayne; There is more than just one reason for tongues; and it is of the Spirit how they are to be used. It is a sign, Yes! but shall not the unbeliever say you are mad, when they hear you speaking in tongues? It is also, and more importantly, the Spirit interceding, and for the building up of things in the Spirit, including the one praying in tongues. We should speak of things that we know!
  • Insight777 on 3 John 1 - 8 years ago
V9- the church would not receive Apostle John. They did not want to listen to John and responded with malice towards the truth of Jesus that John preached. John said he would remember this excommunication V10. John said follow good not evil. Could this be an inferior church that Paul established? Paul said his church was considered inferior because he caught his followers with guile (evil).

Jeff; Maybe it was because Patrick was the one who brought the Word of God and the Glad Tidings of Christ to heathen Ireland, that is meant by "getting rid of the serpents." I don't know who Bridget was, but maybe the story around her was symbolic [as well]? What Prophecy are you referring to?
  • A disciple on Jeremiah 32 - 8 years ago
Library Gal; Family problems are private, we all know, but since you brought them to this somewhat anonymous forum; without giving out personally identifying information, is there any helpful advice we can give? Since you don't say any specifics, it wouldn't fair to assume anything: but maybe you could give some hypothetical or generalizations, to describe. Look forward to hearing from you.
  • A disciple on 3 John 1 - 8 years ago
Insight; When I read this, I'm stunned that someone pretending Christianity could be so out of mind and without a conscience, to dare to do this to the very Apostles themselves! But having gone through something similar myself, I can say; I know the kind John writes about: and it isn't something that just recently showed up in the world. How does anyone in any age make himself God's mortal enemy?
  • A disciple on Genesis 3 - 8 years ago
I wonder where all this projected importance about blood-lines began, and to what end? It is clear, that God has made of one blood all nations of men, and that the life of the flesh is in the blood; but next to that, what is really the issue? The LORD said through the Prophet, "I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed:" and also that He will turn to all people a pure language.
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
Dr. Gordon; I don't understand; what are you talking about? How do you think, 1) that your opinion doesn't matter? and, 2) that the holy Narrative of the account of Creation, is somehow only to be interpreted as from "ancient near east" thinking? Please explain.
  • A disciple on 1 Kings 12 - 8 years ago
Peter; We are certainly in a time for searching of heart, and making account to God. The divisions are caused by many turning away from the holy commandments. "The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts...and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this."Where has NOT the Word of Jesus gone out in all the world?
  • Felicia on Jeremiah 32 - 8 years ago
From verses 17-24 Jeremiah finished his prayer of exaltation and immediately after that prayer the God of all creation confirmed to Jeremiah that indeed He is the great I AM verse 27 "Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me? Omnipotence and righteousness revealed. Praise God!
  • A disciple on Genesis 3 - 8 years ago
Insight; Yes, and may I add, that the blood does not pass through the woman, but through the seed of the man. Jesus came in the flesh through His mother, as we all do; but He was separate from sinners in that He was incarnate through the Spirit of God. Very thoughtful, but not too bright men, might well ask, How can these things be? But we then have to ask, How can God create by simply speaking?
  • Insight777 on Genesis 3 - 8 years ago
It is important to understand it is Josephs linage that is traced and not Jesus. Joseph is not the biological father of Jesus. Before Abraham, Jesus existed. How is David his father? Jesus denies
bloodline connection with those men. Salvation does not come from Adam or any of his sinning sons.
  • Dr Dennis Gordon on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
What do I think of Genesis 1? Frankly, my personal opinion is not what is important. What is important is what GOD wants us to understand from it, which, in turn, is based on what the Israelities were supposed to understand from it because it was written in the context of the ancient Near East.
  • A disciple on Galatians 3 - 8 years ago
Lu2677; why do you keep sneaking around and taking cuts at me? I have done you no wrong! Why do you have to turn everything I say into a chance to say something else? Tongues have not ceased yet! And if you don't speak in tongues, how would you know anything about it? Paul said, "Do all speak with tongues? Do all prophesy? etc..." Many members, one body; we all need each other's gifts from God!
  • Lu2677 on Galatians 5 - 8 years ago
Steve M. Also; Galatians 5:13-14, V.13 "For, brethren, Ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but, by love serve one another."
  • Insight777 on Zechariah 3 - 8 years ago
V10- Jesus = vine. John 15:1 I am the true vine, John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. The fig tree= Israel, James 3:12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. The 2 religions are separate.
  • Lu2677 on Matthew 20 - 8 years ago
a disciple "Judaism follows the doctrine of men that rejected Jesus Christ" No, Judaism to the Jew who believes in the Torah, Old Testament, which are scipture from God.The Torah was written before Christ was born. When Jesus said "do you not know the scriptures?"These scriptures were what God had given them. Their rejection of Christ leaves them without (excluding the saints of old) a savior.
  • Redeemed on Matthew 28 - 8 years ago
Question? When the Lord commands the disciples to baptize in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost why do the disciples command people to be baptized in the name of Jesus? Could the answer be found in Isaiah 9:6? The subject of the verse the Son his name shall be called everlasting Father
  • A disciple on Matthew 20 - 8 years ago
Insight...; Matthew 16:13-17; Jesus asked His disciples, "..Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?..whom say ye that I am?..Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God...Blessed art thou, Simon Bar Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." And in John 1; "..the Word was God..And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.." This is Truth!
  • Insight777 - 8 years ago
How can I help you mother? Saying "my hour is not yet come" shows Jesus has a lot of time on earth left to preform miracles, teach the word of God
  • Lu2677 - 8 years ago
"whom do you serve man or Jesus Christ" Man, in the sense that I am in subjection to all men, charity, kindness, causing no offense, exhortations of His word, giving food and water. I serve God through faith, I can do nothing apart from him. Any service to man that I work comes from Him. His judgments I trust. Should the question be "whom do you serve";the prince of darkness, or the Lord?
  • Lu2677 on Luke 12 - 8 years ago
Steve Marrow, Amen. So, fearing the Lord with trembling before his word has been established. "after He hath killed" Do you believed he kills people as in; wars, 911, heart attacks, etc.?
  • A disciple on Psalms 109 - 8 years ago
Is there a difference between a lost sheep gone astray, and devoured by beasts of the wilderness; and one who willfully turns to be the Lord's enemy and a traitor? To Peter the Lord said, "..But I have prayed for thee; and WHEN thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." But He gave no such words to Judas Iscariot. To the woman who came in and washed His feet with tears He said, Go in peace!
  • A disciple on Luke 1 - 8 years ago
"Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." "..every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God" 1 Jn. 4:1-6.
  • Lu2677 on Luke 11 - 8 years ago
Steve Morrow, You post many verse that says, "Fear of the Lord" What is your belief in it?
    Thanks for your posts.
  • Lu2677 on 1 Timothy 4 - 8 years ago
1 Timothy 4:1-3 "Forbidding to marry." Any comments?
  • A disciple on Psalms 107 - 8 years ago
"...And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south." What was the cause for having to be sent out of Eden? for the languages confounded and they scattered over all the earth? All these things which men brought upon themselves, for giving heed to evil spirits, to defy and rebel without cause against the LORD, and His Anointed. ( Psalm 2)
  • Fmkehoe on Psalms 83 - 8 years ago
When praying the Lords Prayer, I always wondered, if His name is "hallowed", then what is His name?. I'm glad to have found out that He does indeed have a name.
  • A disciple on Revelation 16 - 8 years ago
(verses 4-7) Jeremiah 7:29 "...for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath." Jeremiah 15:1 "...Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth." Why, we ask, does the Lord keep silence, while the wicked exalt themselves, and go without restraint? Because He's about to destroy them!
  • Lu2677 on Hebrews 12 - 8 years ago
Well, for now; why do you deny others of the blessing in Hebrews 12:5 -7? If scripture that I share corrects, chastens, exhorts against a false misconception that someone has of his word, I call it love, warning, compassion, friendliness. You call it "finding fault" and Mis-use". May the Lord give you understanding of the word, exhort. Did Paul rebuke the apostles for exhortation?
