  • A disciple on Galatians 1 - 8 years ago
Lu2677; I know sometimes my way of wording can be odd; but I was referring to the constant argument (that in my opinion IS NO argument), about whether we're saved by works or by faith. Our works make manifest our faith; right? the fruits we bear are the works; which are the reflection of that grace which has been wrought in our hearts, by faith in Jesus. God works in us as we walk in truth.
  • Lu2677 on Ephesians 4 - 8 years ago
Irene 123 "A world wide redemption for the whole church is on the horizon." What is your reference for the statement? Who; what group, of people do you call "the whole church"? Thanks
  • Lu2677 on Matthew 13 - 8 years ago
Matthew 13:27 "He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man." Son of man is Jesus. Some versions capitalize "Man"=God. Anyone else agree it should be cap. M just for the sake of clarity? In case anyone was wondering; when it reads "son of man" it is not Christ.
  • A disciple on Proverbs 2 - 8 years ago
But if we are walking in the truth, and in the Spirit, we are not pandering to the lusts of the flesh! Job 31:1 "I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?" "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds..." So we learn to resist the devil, control our thoughts, and keep our bodies under subjection in holiness!
  • A disciple on Galatians 1 - 8 years ago
Lu2677; When the Lord stood before Pilate, the Governor asked Him; "You are a king then?" and so Jesus told him, "You say that I am a king: for this cause came I into the world...to bear witness of the truth; all they who are of the truth shall hear my voice." He came to call sinners to repentance: repentance comes out of acknowledgment of the truth and integrity of heart by reflecting that grace.
  • Mild Bill on Psalms 3 - 8 years ago
In the midst of his troubles, David pens down his thoughts and heart. God has preserved these ancient writings for us today, because he is still here with us, as he was with David. If God be for us, who can defeat him?
  • A disciple on Ephesians 2 - 8 years ago
"In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." BUILDED TOGETHER! How do we not know today what unity and grace and knowledge that our brethren in the beginning knew? How do the vast multitudes of gentle believers seem to be starved to death for understanding even of the first basics of knowledge, and find mostly contention and divisions instead of fellowship?
  • A disciple on 2 Samuel 12 - 8 years ago
(cont. to Forgiven) "If you love me keep my commandments." It is a prayer inspired by an unrepentant and selfish heart, that prays for God to bless an unlawful love affair. Is one of them married? Are they toying with sin? What is the conflict, since you know that its wrong? and why then do you ask God to still be nice to you and your "desires" instead of fleeing for your life? Repent, or be lost!
  • Sheri Stump on John 1 - 8 years ago
God tells us in Gen 1 that He and the word are one. Is the word Jesus? Yes in John 1:14 says the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

  • Walking with Jesus on Matthew 6 - 8 years ago
To follow Jesus is to deny yourself all of your lifelong vanity to preserve your way of life, which all previous generations who came before have prescribed for us. As Jesus has depended on God for his sustenance, can we do the same? Our mission isn't the same as his. We are called to turn from the wickedness of this world in this time and place and to decry hypocrisy in high places. Peace.
  • Dave P on Proverbs 2 - 8 years ago
Why are people robbed of wisdom, knowledge and understanding? Because they are not following God's instructions in verses 1-9. If I told most people that there was a million dollars hidden in their backyard, do you think they would dig for it? God tells us where and how but men are more interested in Satan's counterfeits versus His finest. See Psalms 19:7-11 and Psalm 37:1-4
  • A disciple on Romans 2 - 8 years ago
To the question of whether we are all created equal; we have to consider, in what sense? In that we all have a spirit, soul and body? Yes. in that we all are made in the image of God? yes. In that we are indeed ALL created? Yes. In that we all have a moral capacity to choose good or evil, to hear the word of truth or to not hear? Yes. "For who makes you to differ from another?"
  • A disciple on Galatians 1 - 8 years ago
How does the statement, "saved by grace through faith, and not by works," make someone struggle with the equally true statement, "then truly by their fruits you shall know them;" (referring to the works of one who fails the grace of God) ?
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 3 - 8 years ago
Word, I don't recall writing anything that had the two Enoch's confused. Your insistence for people to "read His word slowly" to gain understanding is quite strange. God gives understanding, reading fast or slow has nothing to do with understanding. He calls the elect to be diligent, I do not see any instruction in His word "read slowly.' Did you read the verses I quoted in context?
  • Lu2677 on Ephesians 2 - 8 years ago
Bruce, besides "totally changed" as you have said before, and you tell people to tell others what he has done for them; what has the Lord done for you?
  • A disciple on Matthew 7 - 8 years ago
Brother Hiram; Maybe you haven't quite got your wording? The whole point of this Sermon on the mount is to show by our works out of a pure heart and a good conscience, what is the true grace of God. It is all by our works that we shall be judged; (read Matt. 25); and it is all by the quality of our faith that our works are acted out and that which shows us either wise or stupid as proven by trial.

what guide lines do you fellow the word of God or???
  • A disciple on Revelation 2 - 8 years ago
We have no real comparison today to the Church in Ephesus, as far as importance and leadership among the Churches. It looks like they were just perfect in their religious activities, and nothing to be blamed, but the Lord points to their fault as so serious, that He is about to remove them from being His light bearers in the world. How could their hearts have grown cold toward Jesus?
  • A disciple on Romans 2 - 8 years ago
"And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?" Knowing the Word and being able to quote the Word, and actually being one in whom the Word lives and breathes, can be two different things, when someone thinks that there condemnation of others is justified "because it's Scriptural," but neglecting to judge self!
  • Hiram Ramlall on Matthew 7 - 8 years ago
Matthew 7:21-23 is explaining salvation by faith alone
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. What is God's will? John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:
    verse's 22-23 condemn works salvation
  • Lu2677 on Galatians 1 - 8 years ago
Did Moses,David,Abraham Isaac and Jacob, all the apostles,Ruth, etc;work by faith in the Lord, for the Lord, and to the Lord? Did Paul work for the Lord to the end of his life?Faith without works is dead faith. Then; within "faith"he is able to do good works, show fruits of the Spirit. "Not of works lest any man shall boast is referring to works prior to salvation, trying to DO works to gain His grace.
  • Lu2677 on 2 Samuel 7 - 8 years ago
"God loved David, because Christ is of David's lineage." So, is this reason God loved David?
  • Lu2677 on Jeremiah 10 - 8 years ago
A reply to the comment;"God gives men free will to serve him or not, We have power OVER Him" In context Jeremiah 10:21-24;Verse 23, "O Lord I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walketh to direct his steps." The "way of man"=freewill. "Not in himself"=man does NOT have freewill. NOT in man to direct his own steps=man does not have freewill. "Power over Him" REALLY???
  • A disciple on Acts 9 - 8 years ago
Bryan Katchay; Where do you get the idea that Saul was immediately Paul when he was converted? The Scriptures don't say that until many years after, when he was with the Brethren in Antioch. Also, the notion that he is the greatest man ever since Jesus, and that he alone is who we should follow, Paul would never agree to. "Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed,"
  • A disciple on Colossians 1 - 8 years ago
Additionally, Haven't you read the Prophets? or much of the Evangelists' Narratives? If the LORD could not communicate to people "before they're saved" how in the world could ANYONE ever get saved? How does one believe in Someone or something without any understanding? God is the Author of Order, and Intelligence, just as He is the Author and Creator of our souls, which He made in His image.
  • A disciple on Colossians 1 - 8 years ago
Bruce; When did the Lord Jesus ever turn someone away and not answer their question? In fact just the opposite of what you say, Jesus always answered everyone; even when the word was apparently too high for them to grasp it. It's the Spirit's business to move upon the inward parts of people; it's our part, whoever has His Word, to speak His word faithfully. Let God be in charge of His own things!
  • Bruce on Colossians 1 - 8 years ago
disciple: If One is not Saved, no answer to their question will do them much good. To receive Spiritual understanding,Knowledge of His Word and Wisdom is to be in His Word Only,a Church that Believes the same Telling Others what Christ has done and how they can be Saved. All this with Prayer: The Growth will be Amazing! We are The Light in this World. Without The Spirit you can never Learn---!?
  • Lu2677 on 2 Samuel 7 - 8 years ago
I don't recall scripture that says this is why God loved David; "Truly God loved David because Christ was to be born of David's lineage." Peter A. O., Could you enlighten us with scripture? Do you think there were people throughout David's lineage that God did not love?
  • A disciple on Ezekiel 36 - 8 years ago
Steve Patten; All the years are recorded by Moses: from the Creation to the cataclysm was 1656 years; The dividing of the lands (The Tower of Babel?) was 101 years after the flood. The LORD rained fire and burning sulfur upon Sodom and Gomorrah when Abraham was 99 years old, 2048 after Creation, 391 years after the flood. Noah lived till Abraham was 58 years old. Shem outlived Abraham by 35 years.
  • Bruce on Ephesians 2 - 8 years ago
