"...the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied..." Here is a concept! What if the Disciples in the beginning were actually RIGHT ON with making sure everyone was equally provided for? Instead of the "superior" Church leadership and their entourage only?

Do uu know the enemy of your soul?
  • Irene123 on Joshua 1 - 8 years ago
I rather doubt Babs or Linda will see this; whom was it you heard use Jos. 1:1-9 and say to read it everyday, twice a day, for a week for a blessing ..... ?
  • A disciple on Deuteronomy 14 - 8 years ago
CHIBUTUTU KALU; Remember how the Lord Jesus watched the people giving in the Temple? He saw many rich giving much; but the poor widow who gave about 1/4 cent, gave more than all, because it was all her livelihood. To whom we give is also important: and I personally think that kindness and support of those who can't help themselves is much better than giving to a "well off" Pastor and his family.
  • Irene123 on Deuteronomy 20 - 8 years ago
People like to lay 'genocide' on God in the O.T. How does that 'change who He is and how does that make you better than Him?

  • April on Leviticus 23 - 8 years ago
Hello, I was curious if anyone could shed some light on me thinking, unleavened bread was a no no, because in a symbolic way, GOD is what raises us up, like baking soda and other rising agent, it helps the bread to rise, therefore, GOD is the rising agent?, so when he brought his children out of Egypt he was their rising agent. I have currently just started reading the bible on my own, been awhile
  • Isaiah 30 on 1 John 2 - 8 years ago
Born into sin .. free will.. will you contort and manipulate the faith and word to adhere and conform to this world or pick up your cross and seek christ in this dark corrupt deceptive world? Light shines in darkness but darkness will never comprehend
  • A disciple on John 14 - 8 years ago
"Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it suffices us." Now Philip had seen all the Lord's works of power; had heard His teaching, and His wisdom and understanding; he had been with Jesus constantly for about three and a half years, and had studied His face, and His whole nature and character daily being with Him and the other Apostles. Does he now still need more? Do we still also?
  • A disciple on John 12 - 8 years ago
"This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein." Does anyone really think that God doesn't know exactly what all's in our hearts with everything we do and say? Whatever kind of show we put forth to make people think about us other than what we are, not even when we eventually deceive ourselves is God ever tricked by a show!
  • A disciple on John 12 - 8 years ago
"Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?" Try to picture this scene without screaming in anger and disgust! Here is a sweet humble little family that has just received a mighty miracle of their brother being RAISED FROM THE DEAD! and some small evil disgusting "swamp creature" can only find something ugly to throw on the most wonderful person in the house!
  • Bruce on Matthew 6 - 8 years ago
5757:Yes, it is. You're right lent is not in the Bible. There is only one thing we could give up that The Lord desires of us. • Marcia 5757 on Matthew 6 - 8 years ago
Isn't let more a Catholic thing? Not sure, but I agree that I don't remember lent being taught in bible or by Christ himself. Either way, we're not saved by works. Fasting and prayer, daily bible reading, time spent with God is a personal and individual walk. Although it is good too be in fellowship with like minded believers. To come together in prayer and (fast When GOD Desires it of you).

  • A disciple on Leviticus 15 - 8 years ago
April; Yes, it seems obvious enough, even in today's language, that it refers to a woman on her period: and she should be kept apart and quiet. As far as fornicating; who cares if they've been together already for a long time? it is sin; and yes they need to repent of that rebellion and uncleanness! Should they get married? Why wouldn't they? Isn't that the honorable and mature thing to do?
  • Patrick on Leviticus 21 - 8 years ago
I think Michael said it best, if we were to live according to Leviticus, we would all have bushy beards, none of us would eat meat, we would not be able to socialise with disabled/little people, we would not be able to wear clothing of mixed fabrics. But many of us do these things, so will those of us who do these things be surely put to death or ex communicated? Also is it right to own slaves?
  • A disciple on Jeremiah 15 - 8 years ago
(see also Ezekiel 23:18) "Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth." Was this the Prophet's mind, or God's? and if it is a grief and horror to us, how much more to the Lord when He is forced to say these things about a people He has worked so hard and suffered so long to save!
  • A dsiciple on Proverbs 8 - 8 years ago
"O ye simple, UNDERSTAND wisdom: and, ye fools, BE YE of an understanding heart." (v 5) "How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? TURN YOU AT MY REPROOF: BEHOLD, I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT UNTO YOU, I WILL MAKE KNOWN MY WORDS UNTO YOU." (1:22-23) The LORD gives wisdom and knowledge to them that obey, and them that ask!
  • A disciple on Exodus 32 - 8 years ago
(verses 25-29) "Who is on the LORD'S side?" We have all heard the explaining away of why the Lord said; "If any one come after me and 'HATE' not his father, mother, brother, sister, etc... he cannot be my disciple;" with the watered down words like; 'LOVE LESS.' But this example with the Israelites shows perfectly, just what kind of spirits are those who receive not nor hear our words about Jesus.
  • A disciple on Exodus 32 - 8 years ago
"And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?" As long as the Lord has us to be in this present evil world, we will have to be steadfast and vigilant against the wiles of the devil; and we absolutely must guard and protect the sacred charge of our high calling in Christ, to withstand the defiant and backsliding heart of the hypocrites.
  • Jodi on Acts 8 - 8 years ago

    @ Rose John 14:8-9

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
  • A disciple on Leviticus 10 - 8 years ago
The LORD doesn't just say things for no reason, but truthfully and directly according to what He sees. From verse 9 it seems obvious that Aaron's two older sons were drinking, and not in their clear minds or having a clean heart; for when the fire of God came down and consumed the sacrifice, that they came rushing in to "add to the show." Who knows what they were thinking, but drunken foolishness?
  • April on Leviticus 15 - 8 years ago

  • Shirley on Psalms 103 - 8 years ago
Psalms 103 explains the love of God for his people. We as people of God should demonstrate that same love by fearing God,His mercy toward them that fear him,for the heaven is high above earth.Who knows the measurement between heaven and earth? If we repent of our sins,God removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west. Now who can measure the east from the west? God mercy is forever.
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 8 years ago
Isn't it interesting how after God made the man, that He then starts describing things about the world outside the garden? I think that the man could have had it very wonderful ruling over the earth and everything in it from his beautiful Garden Home! There's so much we have been deprived of learning
