There are 30 verses in Chapter 22. But the only verse everyone seems focused on is verse 5. What makes that one verse more important than all the others? Having been raised with this drilled inside my head my whole life; I understand it is of the most importance in some religious organizations. But if that is a LAW that we must take literally, then shouldn’t we take them all in that chapter literally? Why is it that we believe GRACE for all the other verses ("It doesn’t apply for today because of grace") but yet we are held firmly to separation of men and women’s appeal (pants and skirts only; example - women can put on mens boots or coat if needed)
Verse 11: Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together. Many preachers standing on the platform preaching firmly on separation of men and women’s appeal are doing so while their suits are made with divers sorts… what is the difference??? One verse is important and the other isn’t? I have heard it explained this way, that the one with the divers sorts was given under the Law… ???? They were both given under the Law!
Verses 13-29 Why aren’t these verses taken literally and done as told to do when one is found in adultery. How many fathers would stone their own daughters to death today if she is found not to be a virgin upon her wedding night?
I guess my question continues to be, “Why is only one verse out of 30 not under Grace?”
  • Niyi Amuda on Romans 14:12 - 12 years ago
Romans 14:12 is one of the Scriptures that talks about one giving account to God. I love this verse especially because of the words used here so that even a child would understand its meaning.

It says, 'every one' shall give account to God. When God says everyone I think He means everyone. I don't know what you think, but know from this verse that God's judgment is not only for a category of persons - I like to combine the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:10, where by divine inspiration said, '...we all must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ...'

take note beloved that it is a MUST. So, whether you believe God's Word is true or not, whether you attend church or not, whether you believe in God or not, YOU'LL STAND BEFORE GOD WHEN YOU DIE.

Remember Hebrews 9:27? It is appointed unto man once to die and after this THE JUDGMENT. You can be living in sin now and think God isn't going to judge you. You may even assume there is no God (for that makes you a fool), you may think you get away with all your sins. You'll escape God's judgment with your intellect - forget it!

You're wasting your time. You cannot deceive God. He will open your secret life to everyone that day and He will judge you justly according to His high standard of holiness, righteousness and truth ( Hebrews 4:13).

Make your ways right with God lest you appear before Him unprepared and unconverted, there is no mercy on the second side of eternity. Think eternity! Think God!

  • Terry King on Romans 9:13 - 12 years ago
I think the scripture means exactly what it says. It does not say that it wasn't speaking about the two as individuals. It calls them by name. In fact it does not say anything at all about the descendants, however I feel that this certainly is true. For we have seen both at enemy with each other for thousands of years now. Why can't people just believe God's word? Why do they have to insert man made doctrine. My advise is just read and believe Gods word and understand the final warning to man at the end of the Holy Bible to people who change (add to, or take away) the true words of God. The true word of God has no copywrite in the front of the bible. In fact, God wants us to spread that word by mouth, or written. Anyway that we can is ok with Him. Try using the other versions and if you take donations or receive any money for your publications prepare to go to court and be sued. God himself has preserved the true Word of God until this day, and even though it is far down the list on all other versions that pop up when using Google search, I am convinced that it is for settled in Heaven and will stand the test of time. It makes me sick when anyone tries to tell me a scripture does not mean exactly what it says.
Nevertheless, I love you and pray that the Lord will bless you.

If we look at what happened here,we will know that the way God answered His minister in the past was by a second or immediate effect like this prophet and others.Because of command tone of Elijah here. But right now, some men of God will pray hard for many days before Creator answer a single word which means God closer in olden days than this time.Either because of sins or because of selfishness. Now, some leaders seek deviners before getting to power and still they suvive.Why?.Though,God be with His own people but not like people of the middle age.
  • Thy word is truth on 1 Corinthians 14 - 12 years ago
Concerning tongues. They are for a sign. Look at verse 22. ( 1 Cor 1:22) Says that the Jews! require a sign. Now go back and read Acts chapters 2,10,19 and see that Jews were present everytime tongues are spoken. Tongues are languages unknown to the speaker but known to the hearer in order for God to get His message across. Check this verse ( Acts 2:8) And how hear we every man in our own TONGUE, wherein we were born? Now look up at verse 6. ",because that every man heard them speak in his own language." According to the Bible this is Biblical tongues, not jibber jabber. Check out the Hindu's for further insight into this movement. Good day.

Haman must be langushing in hell as we talk. How could he be such a fool? Did he think he could terminate God's promises to Abraham just like that? I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ that any "Haman" in the lives of the true christians will die NOW in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

John 1:18 No one has EVER seen God at ANYtime. Having a little trouble that verse Trinitarians? Thousands of people saw Jesus. How could he be God? Watch the Trinitarians try to change the words "no one" and "anytime" to mean something else. By the way, later on in his volumes, John writes a direct quote from none other than Jesus himself, identifying the only true God. Wow!! Finally! I know that the Trinitarians again will try to change the meaning of the word "only" and will always fall back on " oh, it's a mystery". Remember, anytime means anytime, and only means only. John 17:3
  • Angel L on John 9 - 12 years ago
The first interesting thing is they ask who had sin that this man was born blind. If he were "born blind" how could he have sinned? Did he sin prior to birth? The second is the Pharisees rather than rejoicing in a man's good fortune to be blessed with eyesight seek to find wrong doing instead. Don't you think they know it had to be Jesus who performed such a miracle? Of course because they had already threatened people that they would be put out of the synogogue for saying such a thing was done by Christ/Jesus. They would rather fight fault in Him than to rejoice over a healing.

The Pharisees were not interested in the wellfare of the people they were interested in money and power and flaunting their status over those who they deemed below them. This is why they sought to kill Jesus and to trap Him in a lie. He reflected their sinful hearts to them and they didn't like being reminded of their own pride and arrogance.

I also find it interesting that this man's parents are more concerned with being thrown out of the temple which would reflect poorly on their status in society rather than rejoice over their son gaining his eyesight. Also, if he was known for begging then they were not caring for him in their own home.

  • Don Shirley on Isaiah 65:20 - 12 years ago
In the narrow context, the passage is somewhat difficult. What is an "infant of days" and why will there no longer be any? Why are they talking about children dying in what seems to be a blessing and evil men being cursed with old age? My best understanding is that Isaiah is writing about being in the manifest presence of God, whether millennial or in eternity (the context is God creating a new heavens and a new earth--compare to 2 Pet. 3:8-15a). In either case, it would seem he is saying that for those who walk in God's presence, childhood seems to last forever, whereas for the cursed, to remain in that state for even a moment is horrific, but for a hundred years would be devastating. It is definitely a verse of contrast. The entire chapter is about the rejection of Israel as a people (compare vs. 1-7 with Rom. 10:21 and Acts 28:25-28) and the inclusion of Gentiles in the chosen. The bulk of the contrast in this chapter is between disobedient Israel and the new body of believers that would be made up of believing Jews and converted Gentiles.
  • Thy word is truth on 2 Timothy 2 - 12 years ago
Matthew Henry comments on this verse saying: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, 2 Timothy 2:15. Observe, The care of ministers must be to approve themselves unto God, to be accepted of him, and to show that they are so approved unto God. In order thereunto, there must be constant care and industry: Study to show thyself such a one, a workman that needs not be ashamed. Ministers must be workmen; they have work to do, and they must take pains in it. Workmen that are unskilful, or unfaithful, or lazy, have need to be ashamed; but those who mind their business, and keep to their work, are workmen that need not be ashamed. And what is their work? It is rightly to divide the word of truth. Not to invent a new gospel, but rightly to divide the gospel that is committed to their trust. Observe here, 1. The word which ministers preach is the word of truth, for the author of it is the God of truth. 2. It requires great wisdom, study, and care, to divide this word of truth rightly; Timothy must study in order to do this well."

Please i have two important questions. I have been having this sort of argument or discussion i might say with a friend about this

    1) If an believer should marry an unbeliever, it states here that the unbeliever becomes sanctified, which also makes their baby sanctified. Sanctification in the context as is in the Hebrew language means being set apart. Does it mean the unbeliever's husband will make it to heaven even without confessing Christ as the lord and Savior?. Also, what about an unbeliever's baby who dies, where would the baby go?

    2) There is this doctrine or whatsoever they call it,that if one is saved, one is saved for life and can never be separated from the father no matter what sin the person commits. Please what is your believe about this with scriptural references.

    God is practical.
To think he shared our humanity and all the expressions of human nature and at the same time in human form to contain the fulness of the GODHEAD is something we fail to acknowledge. Who can take this in? Christ the LORD

I may leave a comment, but ultimately, what did Jesus say? Read Mathew 15:8-14
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
