    @Moby Here are the ones who were baptized by John the Baptist;
Matthew 3:5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon hi

[see Job 38:31a] - "Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades,...? Constellations are seen by those on the Earth as a "snap-shot" of the movement of stars, which may be seen to stay in the same relative positions for centuries, because of their distance from Earth. Most stars move in random directions relative to each other, even though they're moving away from the center of the "Big Bang"; they DON'T move in groups. The Pleiades, however, is a group of about 250 stars which ALL MOVE TOGETHER, in the same direction, and at the same speed! It's the only star group of its type in existance - and it's mentioned, by name, by God. (Things that make you say, "Hmm...".)
  • Brian on Job 38:32 - 12 years ago
Arcturus is also a "run away" star system; it's travelling at about 12 times the speed of other stars in its local area - interesting that God just happens to mention this star, isn't it?

v.21 Riding the fence. The Israelites of old did not abandon GOD. They wanted their cake to eat too. They wanted to assimilate the ALMIGHTY with baal who is none other but Lucifer and his world.
GOD is a jealous GOD and he will not have any part time lovers, see Exodous 20:5. "you cannot serve GOD and mammon" you will always end up despising one one "side of the triangle". There is no need to lie to yourself- Psalms 15:2
What will it be? Christ or Barrabas? GOD'S "well done" or the world's pat onthe back?
What will GOD do to such in-the-name-only-christians who want to hold hands with the world? He will vomit you out of his mouth-Revelations 3:15 and then tell you to depart from HIM,that he never knew you- Matthew 25:41
"Come now let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow;though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool.

  • Moby on John 3:23 - 12 years ago
"Who exactly came and was baptized?"
This verse sits amidst reference to Jesus and his disciples, and they are intercommunicating (sendiing messages re their whereabouts).
Did John the Baptist baptize Jesus ("who came")?
  • Denise on 1 Corinthians 14:39 - 12 years ago
There are 2 different uses of tongues. One is a prayer language and the other is a gift that should have interpretation to follow if done in the church Ephesians 14:2, 4. Verse 18, Paul says, "I thank God, I speak with tongues more than ye all." Tongues were for a sign of receiving the Holy Ghost. It has NEVER been done away with. If this is the belief, then where is "That which is perfect"? Ephesians 13:9 clearly says, "For now we know in PART and we prophecy in PART, But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away". I personally know that I do not know God as I am known by Him...yet! That which is perfect, is The perfect love that we must have for all God’s creation. We are still very divided in our beliefs and that tells me that which is "perfect" has certainly not come yet. I would suggest a word study on the word "perfect" in the King James Bible; of course, to find out what God means by perfect and perfection. We are NOT yet there and we have a long way to go.

VERSE 1---NOT SURE IF I READ THIS CORRECTLY: THROUGH DESIRE--AS IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN-TEMPTATION?? HAVING SEPARATED HIMSELF--DOES THIS MEAN SEPARTING HIMSELF FROM GOD??? SEEKETH AND INTERMEDLETH WITH ALL WISDOM--DOES THIS MEAN HAVING KNOWLEGE OF GOOD AND EVIL?
  • Mark on Acts 1 - 12 years ago
In the name of Jesus does NOT mean in the "family" of Jesus,

In Acts 3,16 Peter the Apostle clearly states that, his name (what is his name? Jesus) through faith in his name,

He also states that it was the crippled mans own individual faith by which he was healed,

Not by Peter's power or holiness or of those with him, Acts 3,12
  • Mark on Acts 1 - 12 years ago
    Read John 3,16
    Read Acts 11, 17-18
    Peter the Apostle admitted,
Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

We do not have to be baptized with water to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, We need to believe, We do not have to have an "Apostle" to administer the baptism of the Holy Ghost, We need to believe,

    Read Acts 3,12-16
Peter himself (the Apostle) admitted that it was not through his own power or holiness that made the man walk,
    and admitted,
And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
    We need to believe,

How does this Samaritan woman who admits of no dealing between her people and Jewish (sic Judean) people know and believe the Jewish expectation about the coming of messiah and his powers?

I think it's more a case of a Samaritan Jewess knowing the expectations all too well but that the author forgets that she isn't supposed to know about this particular Messiah (Jesus) yet because the mission has barely got started!

I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Christians would understand this to mean 'Christ the Messiah' and therein lies the mistake, whereas in fact it is an innocent if redundant tautology; 'Messiah(Greek) the Messiah(Hebrew) which doesn't need to be spoken at all if the woman only knows of the expectation. If on the other hand she had in fact got wind of the claim earlier than most she would more likely have spoken of 'the Nazerene Messiah'.

What day is the Sabbath? the Sabbath is the 7th day, which is Saturday. Sunday being the 1st day of the week Saturday the 7th. Not only for the Jews, the Sabbath provided for man at creation in Genesis before the Jews were a chosen people. The Sabbath is for all Commandment keepers of God. also read Revelation, Christ is coming back for those who Keep the Commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ
  • Steven on Ephesians 6:18 - 12 years ago
I think the phrase "in the Spirit" would be more uniquely meaningful if rendered "in (the) spirit". Meaning, our human spirit. For this is where we contact God. God is not only "in" our spirit but also "mingled" with it: "He who is joined to the Lord is on spirit". When interpreted in this way it removes all question of how to pray in "the Spirit", which, properly, would be interpreted as in The Spirit of God; i.e. the Holy Spirit. It should be obvious that we must be in The Spirit when we pray but the issue is this: where is that, specificall, and how do we enter there or, for that matter, how do we know when we are there?

Sherry...If God asks us to forgive then He is also willing to forgive us. He will never ask us to do something He is not willing to do Himself. Matthew 18:21-22
"Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."
1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
  • Scott on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
I'm a little confused, why did God tell adam and eve not to eat of the tree of knowledge? If god is all powerful surely he could stop anyone he wanted from eating from it?
The answer to this could be that he wanted to keep free will as a factor, but again god is omnipotent so he could make it so they had free will and also didn't eat the fruit?

When they did eat from the tree of knowledge, shouldn't that be according to gods plan as nothing is outwith his knowledge or power?
So if his plan was to make Adam and eve eat the fruit anyway, why not just make them?
  • Dan on 1 John 1:9 - 12 years ago
Are we to confess our sins simply by talking to God privately in prayer or rather, by confessing to a priest of God?
I believe that, confession in this context means both. Glory be to God for His Grace.

  • Ros on Proverbs 9 - 12 years ago
I say, why ask God for something that we already have in Christ and with the Holy Spirit? Isa. 11:2 If we have the same spirit, and just as He was so are we in this world, and the same works that He did so shall we also and greater. We should rather learn who we are in Him first, what He has already given us, and ask how do I use what I already have to your Glory and the benefit of those you send us....

in chapter 12 verse 4. where it says 'AND DELIVERED HIM TO FOUR QUATERNIONS OF SOLDIERS TO KEEP HIM;INTENDING AFTER EASTER....... ok, i know the jews and te christians at the time of Lukes writeing acts that they did not celebrate EASTER and EASTER did not exist. was this translation by the king james version of the bible useing the name EASTER because the english language didnt have a word for PECHACH or PASCHA hebrew and greek for passover. could this not lead to erronouse use of easter for passover ? Is this the only verse in the Bible where the word EASTER is used ? this could be confussing to some could it not ?

If people could understand that sometimes just letting things go is the easiest way to stop strife and contention. How many arguments are kept going simply because neither party will just keep silent?
  • Toni on Romans 12 - 12 years ago
Romans chapter 12 is a profound and powerful chapter. God's word enlightens, chastens, uplifts and strengthens the people of God. Romans 12:16 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly.... Have you ever picked up the dirt from the earth? Place it in your hand and blow on it. It literally disappears in a blink of an eye. That's why we should not think highly of ourselves. We are nothing but dust. Dust we are and dust we shall return. Instead, we are to humble ourselves before God, as Christ humbled Himself and took on sinful flesh to condemn sin in the flesh. We should have Christ's spirit dwelling in us that we be able to walk in this present world without going after the world and all the things Satan is offering. Remember, he offered all the kingdoms to Jesus if He would just bow. Jesus refused. Just as we too must refuse.
  • Bob Wunderlich on John 8:37 - 12 years ago
John 8:37 is a very strange verse. If you are "the seed of Abraham" then you are a Christian. This verse only makes sense with one correct understanding. Without this understanding, this verse is impossible. It cannot be true. Want to know the understanding? Give me an email....

If God is real than his spirit, his christ within, is in all humans. Jews, Gentiles, Muslims, slaves, black white red yellow, advanced, Stone Age.... any all humans are members of the body. a benevolent god would not select only a few chosenS group, that you have to, by chance, be born into. so all humans have Spirit n we seek our true nature n purpose buy whatever spiritual means. most religions even that through time, all say just do the next right thing and get out of self. I'm not a Christian though I was raised hard shell Southern Baptist, as one counselor told me, you've been poisoned religiously. oh well, still find lots of useful material in New Testament. R there any Bible scholars out there, did i interpret correctly? ent
