I have a doubt on Genesis 15:13. Why did God say to Abraham that his descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs? Kindly clarify the exact reason for this.

    Does 1 Tim. 5:8
    mean charity starts at home?
  • Les brown on Mark 9:29 - 12 years ago
I think some translations left the word "fasting"out because it didn't belong in the verse.
Mathew 17:21 was also left out entirely by some translations or wasn't noted in italicize as being added for the same reason.
Jesus told the disciples it was because of their little faith that they couldn't cast out the spirit not because they didn't fast.In fact Jesus is not going to scold the disciple for something he didn't require them to do. Mat 9:14 Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
Mat 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast.

Everyone seems to comment on verse 18.What about the other 17 verses? There is great prophecy here. Look at verse 4.Does this sound like something you are hearing today? When the 17 verses happen,(which is the little war that is about to happen)then verse 18 will come alive. That men may know that thou, over all the earth.
  • Ann on Leviticus 17 - 12 years ago
Have you looked into the Walter Vieth "Total Onslaught"? And "the Untold History of the Bible" on youtube. A person needs to know the history of the bible as well as the church system. I would start with the "history of the bible and then Walter. He produces facts by man's history and explains Revelations very well. We are the last generations and the Lord is coming soon. :) "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night." 1 Thessalonians 5:2.
  • Jan on Exodus 22:18 - 12 years ago
@Rai's comment that the original bible word meant poisoner, not witch. Now, don't you all feel a little silly? And, as "christians" talk about killing people?! Shame on you.
  • Mark on Malachi 3:8 - 12 years ago
it is obvious to me they said and answered the question it was not god speaking after "In tithes and offerings" it was the priests and i come to this conclusion because god said "But ye say, In what have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings."
Jesus said well render unto god what is gods and he gave us free will to humble it back to him and life by faith that pleases him!
  • David Eubanks on 1 Thessalonians 4:16 - 12 years ago
Jesus said, today you will be with me in paradise
If we die and are in paradise, who are the dead in Christ? I am confused but not as confused as the comments above.

  • Alfie on Genesis 2 - 12 years ago
Why did God make a law which if transgressed was deemed to be evil and the punishment of death given for the transgression, when at that stage Adam and Eve did not have the knowledge of good and evil?
How were Adam and Eve meant to understand good and evil when they had no knowledge of it?

    James 2:14-26
    New King James Version (NKJV)

    Faith Without Works Is Dead

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Psalms 77:20 - 12 years ago
Thou led thy people like a flock, with the hand of Moses and Aaron. Remember the faithfulness of God who led His people through the Red Sea, and destroyed Egypt's army. God uses His lightning as arrows to light up the heavens. Who is like unto our God? Thank God for His servants that He uses to shepherd His people, and give all the glory to the Lord Jesus Christ who is the great Shepherd of the sheep, who laid His life down for the sheep so that they could have eternal life.
  • Herman German III on James 4 - 12 years ago
Humm? America hasn't existed for even three hundred years, but they follow the same practices as Sodom, Gomorrah, and the other destroyed cities by allowing homosexuality, amongst some of the other morals.
  • AN APOSTLE OF JESUS on Nahum 3 - 12 years ago
Psalms 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Psalms 14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

Psalms 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Psalms 14:4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.

Psalms 14:5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
JUDGEMENT IS FOR THOSE WHO WORK INIQUITY AND COMMIT SIN, OLD OR NEW TESTIMENT THE LORD DOES NOT CHANGE ONLY PEOPLE DO, STOP SINING AND START LIVING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

Jesus is our Savior and John was covered by the same blood of the Lord. Jesus used prayer as the weapon toward all corruption. And Father God placed John Baptist in a certain position. Just like all of us who reject Christ we r in a certain position of a test. Reading the book of Mark it showed the love and compassion Jesus have on His people. Even when Herod did not understand the consequence of a promise to his daughter. Its details how we wont back down. Example God tried to direct us to the right spouse. But due to saving face on what others would say. We marry the wrong spouse. Then we r beaten up and depress we call on God our Lord Jesus Christ. Re-read Verses 4-34. And look in our mirror to see the real truth of self. Jesus prayed all the time. Then He waited for the answer from His Father. The answer to the writer Brimerfrancis. This chapter is a true blessing. Remember saints this is not our world we r just living in it. What is our position?
  • Joe on John 12 - 12 years ago
John 12:38 is refering to Isaiah 53:1
1 "Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?"
Notice when reading further into the chapter on 53:2-6.
2 "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."
3 "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not."
4 "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."
5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
6 "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
Notice how Isaiah refers to himself as a different person than the Christ, even in the number of those who hid their faces. Isaiah refers to the Christ as "He" and himself as one of the "We".
  • Larry on John 14 - 12 years ago
Martha & Lincoln, thank you for your comments. What I originally wondered can be seen by starting at the beginning of the Chapter & then reading the answer Jesus gives to Thomas: Does He mean that a man who comes unto the Father is WITH the Father? I believe the answer is yes, & that it really cannot be any clearer.
  • Martha Prince on 2 Kings 2 - 12 years ago
@Kristy Atchley,,,the God we serve is a loving and forgiving God yet it is the New Testament where we find more written about forgiveness. Matthew 18:21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Also, Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Job 1:6; does Satan report us to God?
  • Larry on John 14 - 12 years ago
I wonder if Jesus meant precisely what He said in verse 6? Does He mean that quite literally a person comes to the father only by Him, or to put it another way, when a person travels via Jesus that person comes into the presence of the father? Like, as in heaven? Is this what it says? If not, why not?

It says..at the last trumpet, so is this the 7th trumpet of revelation that this will happen? Does that mean we will go through the tribulation?
  • Grant Niedzielski on Hebrews 10:7 - 12 years ago
If Jesus is God, who God's God? Jesus does the same thing at Revalation 3:12. where he mentions his God. Again, I ask, who is God's God? Does the Holy Ghost have a God too, or just Jesus?
  • The Sweet on Romans 6 - 12 years ago
Romans 6 is one of my all time favourite bible chapters. It is so powerful. It should set your heart pounding. Romans 6 is about ceasing from sin. It may be about ending the double life we can lead. Paul says v7 "he that is dead is freed from sin" (also v18, v22). Pretty clear isn't it? The old man (natural sinful nature by birth) is crucified with him,v6 that the body of sin might be destroyed. Yes Jesus died that we might have eternal life, v23, but by New Birth we can be freed from sin now. We no longer need to be slaves to sin because the natural (nature of sin) has been destroyed by Christ's death and resurrection. This was the whole point of Christ's death, to defeat sin so that we might live. Now! Eternal Life is a continuation of this in a new body. Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to make this possible. Without receiving the Holy Spirit personally, being freed from sin is impossible.
  • Kristy Atchley on 2 Kings 2 - 12 years ago
The Bible says that we are to forgive. Could a prophet of God not forgive children for being childish in their ways?
  • Jason on Genesis 19 - 12 years ago
Mattie & Martha You Stated why a pillar of salt? Well the bible don't state why salt but she turned into a pillar of salt due to Disobeying the word of the LORD. The Hebrew means that "she kept looking back steadily, wistfully, and with desires; her heart was in Sodom. Lots Wife was clinging to her past she was unwilling to turn completely away.
  • Julie on 1 Corinthians 11:28 - 12 years ago
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what "examine" is meaning in this verse. No one would be able to take communion if absolutely nothing was wrong with anybody. I believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and believes He's coming back...is that not enough?
