  • Martha Prince on John 10 - 12 years ago
Yes it is true the Godhead is a mystery however in many scriptures Christ identifies Himself as God.
    John 14:8-9
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Isaiah says it best of all.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The words, rule, dominion, and subjection have all been used in various bibles but I can never find a true meaning. Were all the other living creatures supposed to work for humans or was a relationship of looking over them and providing any needs that they may have? I know at the beginning no one killed or ate animals so it seem to me there was more of a companionship role like we have pets today.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Job 14:14 - 12 years ago
Job asked this question 4000 years ago, “if a man dies shall he live again?” The Lord Jesus answered it in John 11:25, 26; I am the resurrection, and the life, he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. So just like Job, we too must wait all the days of our appointed time, until our change shall come. John 5:25, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. So thank God that Jesus destroyed the last enemy death on the cross, and has brought immortality to light. Now because Jesus lives, we too shall live.

    I am not exactly sure why Paul used the word "shod in Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

I can only imagine he may have been thinking of why you would show a horse and why do you show a horse? The main reason for shoeing a horse is to keep the bony column in alignment, so when the foot strikes the ground, the entire bony column including the spine, equally absorbs the concussion.

I think Luke 6:42 explains it quite clearly.
Luke 6:42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

In other words we should look at ourselves and our own faults first.
  • Dan on Matthew 7:3 - 12 years ago
When combined with Verses 1 & 2, the major concept seems to be a discussion of hypocrisy. "1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

All of the individual points have merit on their own, but the true power of the lesson is when they are all combined.

When the above verses are cross-referenced to John 8:7 the entire concept and truth can be fully understood. In John 8:7, a prostitute was about to be stoned to death for adultery. Jesus intervened, and the crowd began questioning him. John 8:7 says, (paraphrased) "When the crowd continued to question Jesus, he stood up and said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

In the end, the lesson is that we are ALL sinners and fall short of God's glory. And since none of us is perfect, who are we to harshly judge others? Upon examination and reflection, few would want to be judged themselves with the same voracity that they judge others.
  • Dan on Genesis 3 - 12 years ago
I like verse 11: “And he said, who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” Who told thee that thou wast naked God tells us mankind to just ask and he will answer, but have sin nature that just won’t listen without pastors, friends and family approval. So this is what I get out of that question “who to told you this?” Was it God? Then listen to who told you that? Not me, not man, but God.
  • Mattie on Genesis 19:26 - 12 years ago
I think it is being used to make a illustration of something, but what could it be. Look at Jesus telling his follower upon this Rock I will build my church. He used Rock several times in the bible to make a statement, why a pillar of salt?

The more i read this verse it assure me that the people that God created will come to an end and we have to take time to get to know the Lord word He's giving us the chance of a life time "The Holy Bible", that tells us about his divine Love. Its not like we haven't had the time to worship him which some find it so hard to do. Right there is the battle field did you feel that a stand off of time choices? Its hard for some to separate from flesh and the spirit, what is the use its always been hard to fight the ultimate fight for God.The best tool is having the dialogue to guide you to peace and life. But we must keep praying and asking forgiveness for our family, Amen.

Mind you Jesus taught people how to pray and not what to pray, that prayer that Jesus prayed was a model prayer. That means we have to lern something from it and not pray the same pray everyday. What does the bible says about praying? It says pray without ceasing a non stop prayer. So you can't pray the same prayer of Jesus everyday but you can pray the way Jesus prayed everyday.
  • Kerry Campbell on Matthew 22:20 - 12 years ago
This is not merely about taxes and duties to civil society, no it goes far deeper.

What he was saying concerned intrinsic values and justice. Who, (at least on an earthly level) makes the system of value intrinsic to coinage work? Whom makes it possible? The one whose image is stamped on the coin- he gives the value- he validates this otherwise relatively worthless piece of metal the value which is accorded to it. Without which it really is just a valueless conglomeration of refined terrestrial stardust. Caesar gave the value to it- therefore render what is just and true to Caesar as the legitimating power of it, the one from whom, and through whom it derives its value.

Now ask yourself where your value comes from? Ask yourself why humanity should have intrinsic value, and why that sleeeping infant is of infinite value?

    Whose image do you bear?

    Whose image do you bear?

Why is human life sacred? Because we bear the image of our maker.

  • Lyndon De Gannes on Isaiah 1 - 12 years ago
God is God all by himself, God without man is still God, man without God is nothing. God need not to negotiate with sinful man but the loving God that he is, he is willing to purge us of our rebellious ways and bless us despite of wicked ways. all he ask of us is to repent and turn from our ways and in return he will give us beauty for our ashes. that's the loving forgiving nature of Jahovah God. can we ask for a better God than this? accept his offer to you today and experience the blessings of God in your life.

Harmony in families often relies upon the parents sharing the same belief system. In fact, children are even blessed when their parents share the same faith and obedience to God in Christ throughout their lives. Also, obedience to parents transferred as obedience to God and with this practice came the blessing of long life and living generally well. There exists also this warning to those contemplating marriage and/or other contractual agreements with unbelievers: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"( 1Corinthians 6:14)(Read also verses 15 through 18 of the same chapter.) To those who love God there is no grief here, but rather joy in doing God's pleasure.

    @ R. D. Mattock's comments on Galatians:
Please read Romans chapter 7. How do you reconcile Galatians and Romans? They were both written by Apostle Paul. It looks like the churches that threw away the Ten Commandments choose to ignore the book of Romans. Maybe that’s what they mean by “rightly dividing the word”: You keep half, and throw away the other half...

"2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female."

So i'm wondering which clean beasts these were that had to go into the arc in sevens whilst unclean ones went in by twos. Any thoughts? Ideas?

I wonder why, at the end of this Chapter,Jesus did not commit Himself to them that they would testify about Him? To whom was He reluctant? Are the hearts of all men the same today as they were back then?

this kind of love has never been once exemplified by any man. Only Jesus is love indeed. He who gave up his life has given up all. What else would he not give? Nothing can be more dare!

In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
    CONFIDENCE
1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
How many of us lack confidence when we pray? We pray out of duty with very little anticipation of anything really changing or happening. Does this sound like your prayer life?
God really desires to answer our prayers and to give us the things that we are often in need of, but so often we sense that God is far from us and doesn't really care what is going on in our lives. I believe God really does care for us and desires to answer our prayers in a way that brings glory and honor unto His name.
  • R. D. Mattock on Ephesians 5 - 12 years ago
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. The sin of ingratitude.
How many times has God done something for us and we didn’t say thank-you. How much does it cost to just open up your mouth and say thank-you?

There are a lot of little things that God does everyday. There are things that his angelic Hosts do for us everyday.

Have you ever done something for someone, and then when you needed help, they wouldn’t lift a finger to help you?

II Timothy 3:1-4 “In the last days perilous times shall come. Men shall be lovers of there own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, UNTHANKFUL, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady high minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God; having a form of Godliness, but denying the power there of: from such turn away”

UNTHANKFUL it means they will not give of themselves. Today’s philopsy is use and abuse: We use them and then we throw them away if we don’t like them.

Where are all the comments for this verse ? Maybe one of the most important in the NT. Helping the helpless is one of Gods great desires . Want to please God ? Help the helpless when you can .
Live a holy life because without Holiness no man shall see the Lord .
When we do help others , we do get blessed by God , but if Holiness is missing so is the magnitude of the blessing .

Comments on Galatians Chapter 3:10. “FOR AS MANY AS ARE OF THE WORKS OF THE LAW ARE UNDER THE CURSE: FOR IT IS WRITTEN, CURSED IS EVERY ONE THAT CONTINUETH NOT IN ALL THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW TO DO THEM.” I think the whole chapter presents many challenges in understanding correctly our relationship with God and our fellow human beings. If understood incorrectly it can lead to unnecessary pain and suffering, despair, even destruction. Here is what I mean (true story): A young family, with two children; the wife, a musically talented lady in her upper twenty’s, the daughter of a minister of a “particular” church, and the husband, a little older but not wiser. At one point, the young husband feeling “freed from the Law” commits adultery. And of course, since there was no breaking of the Law, (the law being “nailed to the cross”), he did not feel guilty, and didn’t make much of it. But when his wife found out, she decided to divorce him: not because he broke the seventh commandment, but because of “infidelity”… When she told me what happened, and her plans to divorce, I was shocked. I tried my hardest to convince her not to do it. I talked to her about forgiveness in Christ, I asked her to consider the future of her kids without their dad, but to no avail. I finally mentioned God’s commandment found in Matthew 19:6 which says: “… What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” When she heard that, she said: “Brother Daniel, I can’t keep the Law! I’ve got to go through with the divorce; I don’t want to be under the curse of the Law, there’s nothing worse than that! But God will take care of me and the kids…” So, here they were: four people, saved and “free from the curse of the Law”, and very much cursed by the misinterpretation of one bible verse. Now, is this what the Apostle Paul is teaching in verse 10? Absolutely not! Here, in order to build his case against circumcision, the apostle is quoting the text from Deuteronomy 28:15. “… IF THOU WILT NOT HEARKEN UNTO THE VOICE OF THE LORD THY GOD, TO OBSERVE TO DO ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS AND HIS STATUTES WHICH I COMMAND THEE THIS DAY; THAT ALL THESE CURSES SHALL COME UPON THEE, AND OVERTAKE THEE:” And from verse 16 to verse 68, God pronounces 53 curses against those WHO WILL NOT “observe all his commandments and his statutes”: Thus, (Paul) is implying that if you want to be circumcised in order to be “right with God”, then you need to keep the rest of the “Sacrificial and Ceremonial Laws”. A short overview of the Laws given to the people of Israel by God looks like this: 1. Religious Laws: A) Moral, B) Regarding Tithes and Offerings, C) Sacrificial, D) Ceremonial, A) Moral: a) The Ten Commandments (TTC) b) TTC Expanded B) Tithes and a) The Tenth Offerings, b) First fruits, c) Miscellaneous offerings, C) Sacrificial: a) Sin offerings, b) Peace offerings, c) Burnt offerings, d) Continual offerings, e) Drink offerings, f) Altars, g) Miscellaneous furniture, D) Ceremonial: a) Regarding the Levite priests, b) Regarding the people, c) The First Born, d) The Covenant of circumcision, e) Regarding the Temple/Tabernacle, f) The Feasts, etc. 2. Civil Laws: relating to the rights of the people, the conduct and relations between members of the family and of the community, including the king. 3. Criminal Laws: Same as above Now, the SACRIFICIAL AND CEREMONIAL LAWS make up the body of Law which Apostle Paul calls “the schoolmaster” which pointed to Christ: Galatians 3:24 “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” Today we have no use for circumcision, sin offerings, burnt offerings or any Ceremonial Laws: We have Christ; the Type met the Anti-type. After the Roman Conquest, the Jewish CIVIL AND CRIMINAL LAWS had no “teeth”, and they were subject to the Roman Laws. No one could implement any of them, except with the approval of the Roman Governor, including Christ’s crucifixion. So, today the only valid Laws remaining are: The Moral Laws, including the Ten Commandments which Apostle James calls “The Royal Law” ( James 2:8), and Laws regarding the Tithes and Offerings. In support of this Apostle Paul makes the following statements in Romans Chapter 7: (7) “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. (12) WHEREFORE THE LAW IS HOLY, AND THE COMMANDMENT HOLY, AND JUST, AND GOOD. (16) If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. (22) FOR I DELIGHT IN THE LAW OF GOD AFTER THE INWARD MAN: (25) … SO THEN WITH THE MIND I MYSELF SERVE THE LAW OF GOD;” Amen.

Psalms 19:12 - A prayer important to all believers. Who can understand his errors? If he could understand them then he would not err. Cleanse THOU me from secret faults. This type of cleansing touches man’s most inner hidden places. Keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins, and let them not have dominion over me. To know we are his servants and to ask for help over sins when we know are wrong. How about the plea to prevent those sins from controlling our will power. Then I shall be upright. Sin keeps us from being upright. I shall be innocent from The Great Transgression. We get authority over great transgressions.
