A few comments on questions I've seen. In the original Jewish Torah from which the first five books of the Bible come. Genesis 2:18 says God "had created" the animals. They were created before and He was just now bringing them to Adam. As for the comment that there had to be other people besides Adam that God created because Cain mated with one of them in 4:17, that was after he had killed Abel which had to be not too long before Seth was born because in 4:25 Seth is called a replacement for Abel. Seth was born 130 years after Creation, plenty of time for Adam and Eve to have had lots of children and for those children to have children and for those grandchildren to have children etc. etc God giving man dominion over the animals didn't make man the top of the food chain. Man didn't get permission to eat meat until after the Flood ( Genesis 9:3) Now a question. Was Cain the first child born to Adam and Eve? If he was then he would have been almost 130 years old when he killed Abel and I'd always thought of them being young when that happened. And would he really be just getting around to taking a wife at that advanced age?
  • Peter on Matthew 14 - 13 years ago
If Jesus were to come back today, he could probably feed all of the hungry in the world with one bucket of Kentucky fried chicken. I wonder if that happened would KFC sue him for plagiarism?
  • André on Genesis 6 - 13 years ago
    @Peter,
Yes, there are evidences of fossils dated millions of years, and those might not be the oldest ones, because time is endless. And the Bible happily does not ignore such evidences, neither does it deny them. Yes such evidences are true, and the Bible acknowledges them.
Genesis 1:1, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:2, And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
God created the heavens and earth in Genesis 1:1, and in Genesis 1:2, the earth was without form. God could not create it without form, but it became without form (upside down).
So what caused that? It is the fall of Satan along with his army that brought all such disturbance and quenched all life on earth.
And in Genesis 1:3, God starts bringing things back to order.
So those fossils discovered every now and then belong to the period between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2.
So God is not in contradiction with such discoveries. In fact they confirm the turmoil consecutive to Satan’s fall.
    God bless you.

Everlasting life sounds good at first, but don't you think you'd get bored after 15 million years or so ?
  • Jeanne nelson on Matthew 6:25 - 13 years ago
Can this be applied to overcome my compulsive food obsession, and guilt, and ultimately overeating. I am constantly worrying about everything I eat "Is this bad? Is this good? Am I bad if I eat this?" I want to have God show me how to "take no thought" I want freedom to seek Him first.
  • Joe on Deuteronomy 8:3 - 13 years ago
If the bible is the divine word of God, how can it be changed by man?
  • André on Genesis 4:5 - 13 years ago
    @ Aggie,
1 John 3:12 states ‘’Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.’’ This simply mean Cain’s heart was basically wicked and the problem with his sacrifice was just an expression of his wicked heart.
And you and I know that God looks at the heart, and makes no exception of person ( Deuteronomy 10 :17, Acts 10 :34-35).
    God bless you.
  • Peter on Genesis 6 - 13 years ago
Andre, thank you for explaining that. Now it makes perfect sense. One more question. How did kangaroos get to the ark ? I thought they lived in Australia?
  • Peter on Genesis 7 - 13 years ago
I must say that I am impressed that a 600 year old guy could build a gigantic ship. Did they have Home Depot in those days?

  • Dedria medlock on Acts 28 - 13 years ago
I love the entire Bible. Acts is awesome; I want to study online to get a degree in this field. I'm in Brunswick, Georgia. Do you know any Bible schools here?
  • Aggie on Genesis 6:1 - 13 years ago
If daughters were just being born to them, then who were they having all these children with??
  • Aggie on Genesis 4:5 - 13 years ago
Why no explanation as to why his offering was not pleasing? It would have more sense to elaborate on why. I am not seeking man's reasoning as to why, so don't bother hypothesizing.
  • Doc on Acts 16:30 - 13 years ago
I believe it asks one of the most important questions. "What must I do to be saved?" The next verse answers "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved!!!!"
  • Mapkik on Revelation 17:10 - 13 years ago
The verse explains itself,”…and one is, and the other is not yet come;…”. This would indicate the one yet to come is not the one that existed at the time of St. John’s writing. If you dove tail this prophesy with that of Ezekiel’s prophecy of the bad shepherd, who has a withered arm and a withered eye. Ezekiel further describes this individual as the Assyrian. As far as I know there have been no historical persons who have held this title. Assyrians assisted the Romans in the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 73 AD. Without their aid Rome could not hope to maintain a siege that lasted 3 ½ years. If this analogy is accurate, you may still ask who then the harlot is and where are the seven hills located? There were three Cities constructed on 7 hills during John’s life. Rome, Constantinople, and Jerusalem, of the three Jerusalem fits the term Babylon (Heaven’s Gate), as Jesus said they themselves do not enter nor do they allow others to enter, heaping burdens and not lifting a finger to help them. I am not being anti-Semitic, but I agree with what St. Ignatius of Antioch (a disciple of John), though Judaism brought about Christianity, Judaism is completely dependent on Christianity. Everything in the Law of Moses was to prepare a people for the coming of our Messiah Jesus Christ. Now that Jesus has come, the temple and temple sacrifice is insufficient for salvation. St. Paul was rather adamant in the letter to the Hebrews, the fallacy of offering sacrifice in the temple after you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, as if Jesus could be sacrifice a second time.

SIMPLE, HOW YOU READ: That there is JUST ONE GOD the Father and ONE LORD the SON. Yeshua explains that in: John 14 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of MYSELF: but THE FATHER that dwelleth in me, HE DOETH the works. The Catholic Church changed de words GOD OR YAHWEH has LORD, even in the New Testament to turn the Son in God because if they had not done it their Mother of God would not exist.
  • Peter on John 12 - 13 years ago
Ian, to be fair, Satan also uses atheists to keep Koran education out of schools also. Question- it appears that Both Jesus and Allah wrote books. did Satan ever come out with a book?
  • Peter on Jonah 1 - 13 years ago
Andre - Lucky enough for Jonah. Even though it is bad enough to be covered in fish vomit, I guess it beats the other possibility. By the way, how did Jonah breathe ? I guess God provided air using his super powers. Did he also provide some crossword tablets so Jonah wouldn't get bored ?
  • Pat Stutts on Job 3:16 - 13 years ago
I think you are pushing your religious views and translating verses to your religious end. You want to scare and coerce (sp) anyone considering abortion into not making a choice about her own body. Trying to put her on a guilt trip! Is God the only one that can perform abortions? And horific ones at that. See Hosea 9:14, Hosea 13:16, Hosea 9:16 and Isaish 13:18. You are most likely an Adoption Agency FOR PROFIT. I was a social worker for years and knew all about Edna Gladney Home, highly respected, with high paid staff with power.
  • Peter on Genesis 5 - 13 years ago
Wow, people sure lived a long time in those days. What do you get someone for their 600th birthday? If someone asked one of these guys how old they were and they answered 637, would you say "you don't look it"?
  • Peter on Genesis 6 - 13 years ago
Did Noah bring two tapeworms on the ark? I wish he would have left them off. Also cobras, and Mosquitos. Why did God even make those things in the first place?
  • Sue Barker on Matthew 2 - 13 years ago
I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of prophecy in the Bible and all that good stories. I have read this passage of scripture this morning and I am a bit confused. If someone can explain it to make complete sense I would be more than blessed by your knowledge. From verses 19-23, it explains that an Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph after Herod's death and told him to take to young child and his mother and go into the land of Israel, Joseph obeyed and rose up and proceeded to take the young child and his mother as the Angel had said. BUT, when he heard that Herod's son was now in Herod's position, he was AFRAID to go there NOTWITHSTANDING being forewarned of God in a dream, he TURNED ASIDE into the parts of Galilee. He lived in a city called Nazareth, which was a prophecy fulfillment in itself as it was written that Jesus would be called a Nazarene. Now my questions: 1. Was Judaea, Galilee and Nazareth all in Israel? 2. Why did Joseph become AFRAID when he heard that Archelaus was in his father's place. We know that fear is not of God. If Joseph had the Angel of the Lord appear to him in a dream and he had Baby Jesus himself in his care, why then be afraid? 3. Did Joseph disobey the Angel of God in spite of being forewarned in a dream whereby "turned aside into the parts of Galilee"? Someone would do well to explain please. I know what would make sense here but I want to see if anyone is thinking along the same lines or if maybe I am wrong. Thank You and have a blessed day in Jesus' Mighty name!
  • Clint on 1 Timothy 5 - 13 years ago
Eric, hundreds of times The Word talks about Jews, gentiles, Egyptians, Ethiopians and other races that God will cause to be with Him for eternity! You have should read The Word fully and get rid of biases.
  • Maronda on John 1 - 13 years ago
This is a good chapter, and the thing that stood out with me when I read it was when Nathaniel, asked, "can there be anything good that can come out of Nazareth?" I don't know what the city of Nazareth was like in the day that Jesus was here in the flesh, but it must have been something else. It just inspired me and made me think that God can raise up and use anyone from any place on earth even though others see the place as useless, crime ridden, and often referred to as God forsaken. It also made me think that God can call anyone to service despite, their origin, race, background or birthplace. That makes me smile!!
  • Nunu on 2 John 1 - 13 years ago
Can you please help me understand verse 1, 2 and 5 ... Who/what does the word "Lady" reference to? Is it the church? If so, what about verse 13 "Sister" Thank you.
  • Peter on Genesis 1 - 13 years ago
If God made everything, it must follow that he made the strep throat bacteria, designed cancer, tsunamis, volcanoes, aids virus, the common cold, etc.. We should be thankful he loves us so much. Could you imagine if he didn't?
  • Rachel on Hebrews 10:25 - 13 years ago
I have had lots of trials in the church, and so decided to stay away. I believe the church is a place to run to and not run from. To now be intimidated, mocked, or stepped on in that same church just beats my imagination. This scripture got me thinking. Have I made the right decision to stay away or do I pretend that all is well and continue to attend?
  • Thomas Buercklin on Revelation 9:20 - 13 years ago
Were the men which the four angels loosed by the sixth angel killed?
  • Mary on Ezekiel 23:37 - 13 years ago
Ezekiel 23:37 speaks of adultery. People often wonder "does adultery only apply to marriage?". Yes, adultery does refer to someone who is married and puts away the spouse and all that, but this same principle also applies in a single person's life. In short: a married person is married and is exclusive to their spouse. A single person is exclusive to God (remaining pure) until married then that person is exclusive to the spouse. One's relationship to God is the most important thing to establish before even thinking about a relationship. 1 Chronicles 11:16 is a good memory verse. So in summary: a married person is married and remains exclusive to the spouse and a single person is God's child and stays pure so that the future relationship God has planned for that person will be wonderful and all that God had intended for it to be.
