  • Jean on Genesis 1:1 - 13 years ago
God, there is no question. The Bible is where I have problems and find it confusing in many ways. Really with Genesis 6, 1-7, God had sons in heaven?, who came down, to bare children with daughters of man, that became mighty men, that were of old men of renown? God knows man is evil, yet man is the writer of all the books? Trying to understand, when you have to fill in the empty space.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Genesis 29 - 13 years ago
Well chickens come home to feed.Be not deceived whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap. Jacob had deceived his brother, and now he was reaping what he had sowed from uncle Laban. This chapter brings about some important questions, and does God approve of multiple wives? We know in the New Testament God commanded that every man is to have his own wife, and every woman her own husband. These things that happened in the Old Testament are examples to us, and we are to learn from the mistakes that they made by not making them too. A man is to leave father and mother, and cleave unto his wife. We see that Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah, and this became a point of contention in the family. This is why God commanded one man, and one woman in marriage. When we go outside of the will of God consequences result that cause problems for future generations. God has commanded that all men repent, and follow Jesus. We have the Holy Spirit to give us the victory over the flesh. Faith is our victory over this world. So thank God for your wife, and live joyfully with the wife of thy youth. Wives see to it that you respect your husband.

Does this mean we are predestined to be saved?
  • Takirid on Revelation 14:1 - 13 years ago
Well Linda why don't we findout and see what Gods word has to say. And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.” ( Revelation 14:1) As we have seen, this Lamb is the same as the Michael who cleansed the heavens by casting out the Devil and his demons. He is the Michael whom Daniel describes as “standing in behalf of the sons of [God’s] people” as he prepares to “stand up” in executing Jehovah’s righteous judgments. ( Daniel 12:1; Revelation 12:7, 9) Since 1914 this self-sacrificing Lamb of God has been standing on Mount Zion as the Messianic King.
3 It is just as Jehovah foretold: “I, even I, have installed my king upon Zion, my holy mountain.” ( Psalm 2:6; 110:2) This no longer refers to the earthly Mount Zion, the geographical location of earthly Jerusalem, in which city human kings in the line of David used to reign. (1 Chronicles 11:4-7; 2 Chronicles 5:2) No, for Jesus, after his death and resurrection in 33 C.E., was installed as a foundation cornerstone on the heavenly Mount Zion, the celestial location where Jehovah determined to place the “city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem.” Hence, “the Mount Zion” here represents the exalted position of Jesus and his joint heirs, who make up heavenly Jerusalem, which is the Kingdom. ( Hebrews 12:22, 28; Ephesians 3:6) It is the glorious royal situation to which Jehovah elevates them during the Lord’s day. Over the centuries, anointed Christians, as “living stones,” have earnestly looked forward to standing on that heavenly Mount Zion, united with the glorified Lord Jesus Christ in his majestic Kingdom.—1 Peter 2:4-6; Luke 22:28-30; John 14:2, 3.
4 John sees not only Jesus but the complete body of the 144,000 fellow heirs of the heavenly Kingdom standing upon the Mount Zion. At the time represented by the vision, many, but not all, of the 144,000 are already in heaven. Later in the same vision, John learns that some of the holy ones still have to endure and die faithful. ( Revelation 14:12, 13) Evidently, then, some of the 144,000 are still on earth. So how is it that John sees all of them standing with Jesus on Mount Zion? In that, as members of the congregation of anointed Christians, these have now “approached a Mount Zion and a city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem.” ( Hebrews 12:22) Like Paul when he was still on earth, they have already—in a spiritual sense—been raised up to be in union with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. ( Ephesians 2:5, 6) Additionally, in 1919 they responded to the invitation, “Come on up here,” and in a figurative way “went up into heaven in the cloud.” ( Revelation 11:12) In view of these scriptures, we can see that all the 144,000—spiritually speaking—are located on Mount Zion with Jesus Christ.
The 144,000 have no part with the worshippers of the wild beast, who are marked with the symbolic number 666. ( Revelation 13:15-18) In contrast, these loyal ones have the name of God and of the Lamb written on their foreheads. No doubt John, a Jew, saw God’s name in Hebrew lettering, יהוה. In having the name of Jesus’ Father symbolically written on their foreheads, these sealed ones make known to all that they are Jehovah’s witnesses, His slaves. ( Revelation 3:12) Their having Jesus’ name also displayed on their foreheads indicates that they acknowledge being owned by him. He is their betrothed “husband,” and they are his prospective “bride,” “a new creation” serving God with heavenly life in view. ( Ephesians 5:22-24; Revelation 21:2, 9; 2 Corinthians 5:17) Their intimate relationship with Jehovah and Jesus Christ affects all their thoughts and actions.Thats the best I could do, and the rest up to you, weather you except this conclusion or not.

    Why Called an Eighth King?
The angel further explains to John: “And the wild beast that was but is not, it is also itself an eighth king, but springs from the seven, and it goes off into destruction.” ( Revelation 17:11) The symbolic scarlet-colored wild beast “springs from” the seven heads; that is, it is born from, or owes its existence to, those heads of the original “wild beast . . . out of the sea,” of which the scarlet-colored wild beast is an image. In what way? Well, in 1919 the Anglo-American power was the ascendant head. The previous six heads had fallen, and the position of dominant world power had passed to this dual head and was now centered in it. This seventh head, as the current representative of the line of world powers, was the moving force in establishing the League of Nations and is still the major promoter and financial support of the United Nations. Thus, in symbol, the scarlet-colored wild beast—the eighth king—“springs from” the original seven heads. Viewed in this way, the statement that it sprang from the seven harmonizes well with the earlier revelation that the wild beast with two horns like a lamb (the Anglo-American World Power, the seventh head of that original wild beast) urged the making of the image and gave it life.— Revelation 13:1, 11, 14, 15.
Additionally, original members of the League of Nations included, along with Great Britain, governments that ruled in the seats of some of the previous heads, namely Greece, Iran (Persia), and Italy (Rome). Eventually, governments ruling the territory controlled by the previous six world powers came to be supportive members of the image of the wild beast. In this sense, too, it could be said that this scarlet-colored wild beast sprang from the seven world powers.
Notice that the scarlet-colored wild beast “is also itself an eighth king.” Thus, the United Nations today is designed to look like a world government. At times it has even acted like one, sending armies into the field to resolve international disputes, as in Korea, the Sinai Peninsula, some African countries, and Lebanon. But it is only the image of a king. Like a religious image, it has no real influence or power apart from what is invested in it by those who brought it into existence and worship it. On occasion, this symbolic wild beast looks weak; but it has never experienced the kind of wholesale abandonment by dictator-oriented members that sent the League of Nations reeling into the abyss. ( Revelation 17:8) Though holding radically different opinions in other areas, a prominent leader of the former Soviet Union in 1987 joined the popes of Rome in expressing support for the UN. He even called for “a comprehensive system of international security” based on the UN. As John soon learns, the time will come when the UN will act with considerable authority. Then it, in its turn, “goes off into destruction.”

There is no doubt that our unfaithfulness will never change God's faithfulness. To be saved and anointed is man's guarantee for a blessed life , no matter who is against you. Abraham enjoyed grace though he lived in the old testament;that's the benefit of salvation. Are you saved? Genesis 20 is an explicit new testament revelation.

Rev.16:15 the thief person in Rev.3:3 King James Bible comes again as a thief and this 3:3 scripture shows Holdfast and the Church of Sar'dis and by definition a Holdfast is a frog and three frogs are found in Rev.16:13, does this have something to do with 3:3? Rev.16:13 was always one of those End Time scriptures that has never been broken and must be a Second Christ 'Mystery' Holdfast appears in other verses as well in Rev.2:25 and Rev.3:11 and 'Holdest Fast thy name' in Rev.2:13 and are we looking for a name? So Rev.16:15 the thief appears again one might be naked showing off his legs or an arm,or his shame, shame contains 'she Ma', a she is a her. Dame Dragon = Armageddon is next in 16:16, ma her? Is that Hebrew? If this is a prophesy about 2012, this false Dragon Dame must be a woman always talking about the bible with a distinct voice that the whole world can hear, a true false prophet 'Dame Dragon'. Rev.16:13 shows frogs associated with mouth of a dragon, beast and false prophet, so a 'frog' by definition is a term for having a hoarse or unclear 'voice' and Holdfast appeared in 2:13 and 13 was used in Rev.16:13 for 3 frogs. A frog is also by definition, a fastener or a Holdfast and Holdfast or a 'frog' must be very near Armageddon because the man in Rev.3:3 must be the Second Coming of Christ and must be in the same area as the 'Ma her' Hebrew woman. But must be by a river or body of water as the thief doesn't want to show the body off and Armageddon is a 'Long' way west of the Euphrates and must be the omega or 'Last' body of water somewhere on planet earth. Rev.16:20 shows people can't find the 'Mountain' in these end times. Perhaps a frog or 'Holdfast' will lead them to Armageddon and away from the 'Voice of this false prophet beast, Dame Dragon of 2012. The time has come where we 'May rejoice' and seek the omega and Holdfast to the scriptures and wait for the Second Coming of Christ.

Which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred?= which one is bigger the giver or the or receiver. In 1Corinthians 12:4-11= which one is master the gifts or the one who gives.
John 17:17= ''Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth.'' - which one is mighter the Sactifier or those who sactified.

To the church of God which is at Corinth.
To them that are sanctified in Jesus Christ.
To them that are called to be saints.
To them that call upon the name of Jesus Christ in every place, for their sake and for the sake of others.

Grace be unto you, and peace , from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

God is faithful and by Him you were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Paul beseeches those who worship God to have no divisions amongst themselves.

Believers should be joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Paul had learnt that there were divisions amongst the believers in Corinth.
[12] Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. [13] Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

Up to this day these divisions have taken root in the Christian faith.

Like in the olden days Christians still identify their churches by the names of the founders or the names given by the founders.

Paul thanks God he did not baptize any of them except Crispus and Gaius and a few others.

[17]For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish because of foolishness.

And the preaching of the power of God is to those who are saved.

God will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

God has made the wisdom of this World foolish.
Through His Wisdom God created the World, yet humankind in its own wisdom did not know God.

The World tries to please God by the foolishness of preaching to them that believe.

    [21]
The Jews require a sign for them to believe.
The Greeks require wisdom for them to believe.

Preaching that Jesus Christ was crucified is a stumbling-block to the Jews. [23]

Preaching that Jesus Christ was crucified is foolishness to the Greeks. [23]The wise of this World.

But to them who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Jesus Christ is the Power and Wisdom of God.
    Few wise men are called.
    Few mighty men are called.
    Few noble men are called.
    Few rich men are called.
Many are busy with worldly affairs and the desire to fulfill fleshly passions.

God chooses the foolish things of the World to confound the wise.

God chooses the weak things of the World to confound the mighty.

God chooses the base things of the World , to confound the highly regarded.

God chooses the despised things of this World , to confound the exalted.

God chooses things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.

No one is glorious in the eyes of God.

But of him who is in Jesus Christ, who God has made through His Wisdom and Righteousness, and Sanctification, and Redemption: let him glory in the Lord.

Jesus Christ himself did not baptize people. [ John 4:2]
Jesus Christ could not have baptized people in his own name.
Jesus Christ’s baptism is by the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Anyone receiving this baptism is saved and receives eternal life.
  • Nevermore Mazongo on 1 Corinthians 2 - 13 years ago
A man’s faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but should stand in the Power of God.[5]

    The eye has not seen,
    The ear has not heard,
    The heart has not perceived,
The things which God has prepared for them that love Him. [9]

10But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

For no man knows what is in another man’s heart, except the spirit of that person which is in him.

So no man knows the secrets of God, except the Spirit of God.[11]

Now we have received , not the spirit of the World , but the Spirit of God, that we may know the things that are freely given to us of God.[12]

We speak of these things, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but in the words which the Holy Ghost teaches.

Relating spiritual things to the Spiritual realm.

The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God.
The natural man cannot discern the things of the Spirit of God:
For they are foolishness to him.
Neither can a natural man know the things of the Spirit of God:
    For they are spiritually discerned.

15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

Only God is qualified to judge all things.

An upright man does not query or question God’s Decrees and Judgements.

16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

We can pick at the translations and debate the meaning of text or its original intent in Hebrew versus Greek. But in the end, the power of truth is far greater than the limitations imposed upon us by our language. How do we know the correct interpretation of John1:1? By knowing Jesus.

    1. Dont look up things on Wikipedia
    2. The Genesis Account is not figurative or an Allegory
    3. God Did not Create Anything on the Seventh day including Adam ( Genesis 2:1-3)
4.Verse 4 Brings us back to the day or Period (days 1 - 6 , yes all these "days" are refered to one "day" or period)when Jehovah creative works were being completed.
5.How long were these creative days? the Bible does not say. Were they literal 24 hours ? Theres no basis for arbitrarily stating that each day was 24 hours but his seventh day of rest from creative works continued into Pauls day( Hebrews 4:3-6) if not into our day .
  • Al Sikkema on Hebrews 11:1 - 13 years ago
I am trying to relate the verse in Herbrews 11:1 to another text in the bible that states, "by grace are ye saved, through faith, and not of yourselves". It is God that can only save us and it is his "gift". Where does faith come in? Can we say by grace are ye saved through the substance of things hoped for. If we are dead in trespasses and sins we can bring nothing forward of ourselves to save ourselves. The dry bones in that arose and became an army became alive because of one reason: GOD. Faith then must also be a gift that God must give as well as Grace. This would then make Faith the substance of things hoped for (as much as the Lord will give us. Paul says I am what I am by the grace of God.

  • Tracy on Wisdom of Solomon 2 - 13 years ago
Indeed, God did create Adam and Eve to be immortal, and at the moment they ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, they became mortal--began at that moment to die--and also were at that moment separated from God for the first time. Until then, they were in unity with God. Mortality was the greatest gift God could give to His fallen creatures, for without it, salvation would be impossible, for how could Christ die in our place if we couldn't die? In addition, without the gift of mortality, all the evil men who ever lived would be living still today, growing in evil. It is for these reasons that they were cast out of the garden. If they had stayed, and eaten of the tree of life, they would live forever in their sins. So God set an angel to guard the way to the tree of life, so that no man might eat of it until His plan of redemption was complete. See Genesis 3:22 and Rev. 22:14.
  • Rudolph on Matthew 1 - 13 years ago
Jesus was sent from the Father, by spiritual dispensation, as prophesied numerous times in the Old Testament(God with us)He stepped out of himself to bridge the gap between man (fallen)and God (upright) connecting us back together by the cross (What can wash away my sins? nothing but the blood of JESUS!!!)Please note Matthew Chapter 1 Distinctively elevated 5 women in the lineage of JESUS CHRIST. Matthew and John were the only eye witnesses with Jesus Christ of the four Gospels, therefore we as possible children of God must search our hearts and seek the face of God to receive his divine plan for our lives, and not man's determination of us.
God bless you only if you receive the revelation of the HOLY Ghost speeking through this (medium) the internet.
    His humble servant Rudolph.

This verse makes us all ponder the question that Jesus ask Peter" Lovest thou me more than these?" Peter had boasted though all men will forsake thee, I will never forsake thee, but he failed. All of our failures can be traced to this question about love for the Lord more than these. As Peter answered thou know that I love thee because only the Lord knows our heart. We must search our heart daily, and make sure that nothing comes between our love for the Lord. Just as Jesus restores Peter, then he restores us when we confess our love for him more than these.

I am confused as to why this young man said he killed Saul, when The Word states that Saul fell upon his sword and killed himself. How did he get Saul's crown and bracelet? Every time I read this I simply do not understand it. Why would someone claim to have taken the life of someone just to have their life taken?
