have you ever experienced the holy spirit that abides in us? If so how and when?
  • Mosqueda0803 - 2 years ago
How do we know the bible is written for and directed towards "us", or for "our generation"?

What if God already came back to save the ones who made it into heaven? And we are the ones left behind?

Is this a scenario where I need to have Faith?
  • Fred Scanlan - 2 years ago
    Jesus spoke in parables.

Believing His words requires time and meditation, discovering the truths found in the Holy Spirit.

Time and again, He uses the things in nature to illustrate what we need to know for the journey, a journey here and now, even unto eternal life!

It can be only explained in a way that introduces us to His words, Gods words and not mans! The word that will sanctify us, even purifying us creating the person He wants us to become.

Time spent pondering, He reveals Himself in the third person of what we define as the trinity.

The Holy Spirit is the light of the world, is the light of men, it moved upon the face of the deep. It came upon Mary, it finds its way even with the Angels. Most of all, we cannot do His will without Him! We cannot know the will of the Father and the Son without the Holy Spirit! You must know the Holy Spirit!

Are you waiting for His coming? He may come at any time.

Is the lamp in your hand the light that you need to meet Him? This light, held with the pure oil of the Holy Spirit?

Remember, take the time, make sure your vessel is trimmed and ready. He comes at a time you least expect!

    The birth of the Apostles.

UPON THIS ROCK I SHALL BUILD MY CHURCH.

He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

And Simon Peter answered and said, THOU ART THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD. Matthew 16:15-16

    Ephesians 2:19-20 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

    And are built upon the FOUNDATION OF THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS, Jesus Christ himself being the chief CORNER STONE;

In Luke 6:13 we see that Jesus chose who he would name Apostles.

    "And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

The question is when did the disciples start operating in the office of Apostles?

    When was the foundation laid?

    1 Corinthians 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

Are we capable of building with gold, silver and precious stone without the dwelling of the Holyspirit?

We do know in Matthew 28:16-17 even after Jesus resurrected the disciples still doubted.

"Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted."

In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus commissioned them to go out to all the world but not to depart from Jerusalem until they were filled with the Holyspirit.

    Acts 1:4-5. Luke 24:49.

I believe not until they were filled with the Spirit that rock the church was built on begun. The disciples began to function in the office as Apostles.

Ephesians 4:10-12. He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

    AND HE GAVE SOME, APOSTLES; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

He didn't do this until he ascended.

    God bless.

    Ex 34 continued...

Next, God says that He is truth. Not just truthful, or knows all truth, but that He IS Truth. He is never a lie. We can depend on Him to always be exactly Who He is. Truth is an essential aspect of His Being, like goodness, longsuffering, mercy, and graciousness (as He defined Himself here). God could have defined Himself as just or wrathful (which He rightly is) but God here with Moses after the great idolatry of the golden calf, emphasizes these qualities that offset His justice and wrath by executing these upon Jesus instead of sinners. He cannot not punish sin with His justice. But, because of His mercy, grace, and love, He spent these upon His Son, Who alone could bear the infinite punishment for sin, which is infinitely abhorrent to God.

Next, God elaborates about Himself: keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. Interesting that He uses three word for our actions towards Him that require punishment. He goes on to say "by no means clearing the guilty".

So which is it, forgiving sin in all of its manifestations or not clearing the guilty? He both forgives and judges sin. So He may be speaking of those who trust Him by faith will be forgiven, but those who will not repent and put their faith in Him, He will not clear them of their guilt. Forgiveness is given to those who seek God's way for this forgiveness to come to them-through faith in Jesus, believing the Gospel, repentance and turning to God from rebellion against Him. He may be speaking to two different groups of people in how He deals with their sins.

He goes on to say that those He does not clear the guilt of their sin, He will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children, their children's children to the 3rd a nd 4th generation. What does this mean. Surely, God would be merciful to children, grandchildren, etc. But perhaps He is speaking of such unrepentance of a father is replicating in succeeding generations without God's intervention

    Exodus Chapter 34.

In this chapter, YHWH once again gives Moses the 10 commandments for the Israelites. He writes these down Himself, again.

So, as I recall, these commandments have been given to Moses three times: Exodus 20 (Moses told these to the people); Between Exodus 20 and 31; Moses went back up the Mount for 40 days. God wrote the ten Commandments on the stone tablets (which Moses broke apart when he saw the golden calf); and in Exodus 34, God writes them down again on the new stone tablets.

As the chapter begins, YHWH tells Moses to cut two new stone tablets and bring them with him up to the Mount early the next morning. These tablets were chiseled out of stone, but nothing was written upon them yet.

It says that YHWH descended in the cloud (as He had done before). He stands with Moses and proclaims His own name. Then He goes n to describe Himself to Moses. He calls Himself The LORD (YHWH) and The LORD God (YHWH Elohim?). He starts off by claiming that He is merciful and gracious. How wonderful that God, who was angry at the Israelites for their idolatry, tells Moses that He is merciful and gracious. What a comfort that must have been to Moses to hear YHWH say this about Himself first. It is only by His mercy and grace that mankind did not end in the Garden of Eden with the first sin. But He has shown mercy and grace since that first sin upon humanity. Thus humanity continues to this day.

Next, He says he is longsuffering. This means that God is not hasty in His righteous anger to punish sin and sinners. He shows extensive restraint in delaying His judgment. He shows patient forbearance. Next God says He is abounding in goodness. He is the only Being Who is infinitely and ever good. His goodness is absolute, without any imperfection. His goodness is constant and continuous. He never loses any of His goodness, ever. His goodness is always morally righteous. His goodness is active-He chooses to be good to His created beings.

    Exodus 33 continued...

YHWH spoke with Moses as with a friend. How wonderful to know oneself as a friend of God! Moses was not God's enemy, but one with whom YHWH was pleased and one whom YHWH chose to interact with. It was not Moses' doing. It was YHWH who showed up when Moses went to the tent waiting for Him. Do we have a place set aside for meeting with God? Do we wait there in anticipation and faith that He will show up?

The text says that Moses would go back among the people in the camp, but Joshua remained in this tent of meeting, not departing from it. What lessons Joshua must have learned from dwelling in the place where YHWH would meet with Moses.

Moses then inquires of YHWH concerning who He will send with Moses to lead these people. Moses then recalls what YHWH had said to him, "I know you by name, and you have also found grace in my sight." So wonderful that God knows us by name and has chosen to place us in His grace. Moses then asks YHWH to show him His way in order to know Him and to be given grace. He also asks YHWH to consider the Israelite nation to be His people. Here Moses not only prays for himself to remain with YHWH and YHWH with him, but also intercedes for the nation, that YHWH would do the same for them.

YHWH answers, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Moses request was answered with the assurance that YHWH will accompany not only Moses, but the nation as well by His Presence. (What is His Presence here, I wonder?) YHWH also promised to give rest to Moses. Does this mean that Moses' task of leading these people to the Promised Land will end once they arrive or is it speaking of his death? Here, rest is spoken of as a good thing to receive.

In the next section of this chapter we have the account of Moses asking YHWH to show him His glory. What a bold request! Moses had met with YHWH on the mountain and in the tent of meeting visible manifestations of YHWH's Presence. Yet, to Moses, he wanted even more!

Does God use vessels of dishonour and nations to perform his will?

I believe so, here's a few reasons why

    Romans 9:18-23.

Habakkuk 1:5-11. Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.

For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not their's.

They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.

Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.

They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.

And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.

Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god.

Another question asked is there such things as demon possession?

Here's what I believe and I'm not sure if it classifies as demon possession.

I believe there's ministers of Satan.

    2 Corinthians 11:14-15.

These are amongst us everywhere we go and can be identified as tares. Matthew 13:36-42.

    EVIL SPIRITS.

Satan is the prince of the world and he influences the flesh. the natural man. and the nations.

    1 John 4:1-3.

These tares may also be seen in Jude 1:1-25.

You can't always identify these tares with their Doctrine, some of their Doctrine sounds very familiar, but what they "seem" to believe in doesn't humble them and in areas of baring fruit they seems to be lacking. This causes a closer look at their theology and you find them taking a sharp left on the path.

    1 John 2:19.

    God bless."

Are we truly predestined by God and I names written in the book of life and if so, then does this mean that no matter what we do or believe will not change our out come in wether we are chosen for heaven or hell or that our names are or are not written in the book of life? Also if so where do those who believe in God but their predestination was not by God for the book of eternal life then do those people just go to hell no matter how they much the believe or do?

    Hi.

This is not an attempt to start a new thread on demonic spirits or evil spirits.

I just wanted to share just a few scriptures on them and why I believe they exist and are amongst us.

Their mission is to lure you away or distort the truth in DIVERSE WAYS!! ( Their Doctrine may sound a lot like yours, IF they believe the Doctrine of truth they will bare fruit. )

    1 John 4:1-3.

1 John 4:4. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.

    Matthew 12:43-45.

    Jude 1:4.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

    Matthew 13:37-40.

    Notice who planted the tares?

I believe God with his sovereignty and foreknowledge uses vessels of dishonour to accomplish his will.

Romans 9:17-23. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?

Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

HATH NOT THE POTTER POWER OVER THE CLAY, OF THE SAME LUMP TO MAKE ONE VESSEL UNTO HONOUR, AND ANOTHER UNTO DISHONOUR?

What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the VESSELS OF WRATH FITTED TO DESTRUCTION:

And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

    Also notice

    Habakkuk 1:5-11.

    God bless.

If a man does good works, not because he is told to by the Bible or "faith" but does good works because of a good heart his whole life. Sure he sins but reflects and tries to learn and become a better person. Ie helping others and never expecting a reward etc is that man not a better person and would be judge kindly rather than a man doing good works because he is told to by the Bible? Doesn't god see the heart rather than only see a title of Christian. Many Christians don't really do good works from the heart they do it as check marks" to go to heaven.

My question is if god is a kind , loving, and a fair just god. I don't see how every other culture ( such as China, India ) where culture may prevent them from believing in jesus will perish? It seems like being a ' Christian " is like a special in club where they only believe they are good enough. How can god work like this? I would hate to think that god judges people like that.

If god knows us and knows our hearts and we are made in his image. By reason he gave us the most precious gift of reasoning, thinking, morals to use. If you sim and we all do, as long as you aim to better yourself why would god dismiss that?

Wouldn't you think a whole life of doing good from your heart ( despite your religion) would be better to god than someone on death after eating his last meal of chicken, then accepted Jesus as his lord and savior?

This is just one of the things that confuse me.

    Thank you for listening.

Ok, you say salvation is a gift. You also receive gifts in life, right? From your parents, teachers, supervisor, ect. But you still have to work in order to receive them. I have never known a student who did not study, stay up all night drinking and partying. At the end of the year he graduated.... Please put your thinking hats on, Faith without Works are dead and Works without Faith is dead... James 2:14-26
