Matthew 19:9 (KJV) And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

I am of the Pentecostal faith. I'm trying to obtain a clearer understanding from this verse. My understanding is God will grant you a divorce and allow you to remarry only if your formal spouse committed fornication. Please correct me with an explanation if I'm incorrect.

    2 Timothy 1:9

Astronomy is a hobby of mine. Today, Astronomers, Astrophysicists, and Cosmologists estimate that the age of the Universe to be approximately 14 billion years old. If that is a true estimate of how old the cosmos is then the Grace that was given to us as Paul writes"... in Christ Jesus before the world began. " is mind boggling to say the least. Almighty God knew each one of us before the creation of the Universe and granted his Grace to us in Christ's redeeming sacrifice before time began, before the creation of the world. That is the God that we worship!

Human nature has not changed even today after reading this chapter. Sad to see people here be like a modern Pharisees. Read your Bible. Many are deceived. Stay in prayers and Colossians 2:1:23 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

The Bible contains two Covenants, we call them the Old and New Testaments. Why do present-day Christians spend so much time with the Old Testament? When I was in school the courses taken were even. That had more to do with the professor than anything else. Bob taught Biblical Backgrounds and OT Survey, he also taught one other course each term, the last one I took was on Daniel and Revolution. He had the best presentations as they brought the Bible to life.

The Gospels and Letters do not contain many references from the OT unless they were specifically written to the Jews. The only reason I have been able to come up with is that they spend a lot of time on the OT and Revelation to avoid Rebirth and the part I refer to as Following Jesus.

Most Baptist churches recognize two ordinances that believers should partake of, The Lords Supper and Baptism. My question is, since the Apostle Paul is the Apostle to the Gentiles, where does he include Baptism as an ordinance? Being baptized into the Body of Christ is a spiritual baptism not a water baptism and is the only baptism he writes to Gentile believers. Wasnt baptism required only for Jewish believers when Peter offered them the Kingdom Gospel... Acts 2:38? and John the Baptist preaching the Kingdom of God is at hand? It seems that the Apostle Paul stopped baptizing all together when reading the first chapter of 1st Corinthians.

My granddaughter asked me a question( & I couldn't just say go ask your mother):if you think about a sin but don't actually commit it , is this a sin also ? What about if you don't know that what was thought about is a sin, also if you don't follow through with the action of committing. I told her that if one doesn't know that thought or action was indeed a sin, one can pray & ask for forgiveness when one discovers it. If one knows that the action is a sin if committed ,pray for forgiveness for the thought .I think thoughts of committing is a sin as well as if the action results in committing a sin. One can ask in prayer for forgiveness for thought or action. Preferably, don't think or commit. We aren't perfect but should make every effort to avoid sin by thought or action.I also brought it to my daughter's ( her Mom) attention. My granddaughter is very intelligent child& is capable of understanding.
