No , I don't believe that drinking alcohol is wrong . Anyone who has read the Gospels will know that Jesus and his disciples drank alcohol occasionally , Paul even advised Timothy to take a little wine for his digestion and infirmaties . So no , if drinking alcohol is wrong or a sin , then that would mean that Jesus sinned , and we all know for sure that he did not ever sin . Why would we tie ourselves up with laws that encourage is to judge others as wrong and ourselves as righteous for having or not having a glass of wine when Jesus had a cup of wine and freed us from 'laws ' .
Scripture has much to say regarding the drinking of alcohol ( Leviticus 10:9; Numbers 6:3; Deuteronomy 29:6; Judges 13:4, 7, 14; Proverbs 20:1; 31:4; Isaiah 5:11, 22; 24:9; 28:7; 29:9; 56:12). However, Scripture does not necessarily forbid a Christian from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. In fact, some Scriptures discuss alcohol in positive terms. Ecclesiastes 9:7 instructs, "Drink your wine with a merry heart." Psalm 104:14-15 states that God gives wine "that makes glad the heart of men." Amos 9:14 discusses drinking wine from your own vineyard as a sign of God's blessing. Isaiah 55:1 encourages, "Yes, come buy wine and milk"
What God commands Christians regarding alcohol is to avoid drunkenness ( Ephesians 5:18). The Bible condemns drunkenness and its effects ( Proverbs 23:29-35). Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be "mastered" by anything ( 1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19). Drinking alcohol in excess is undeniably addictive. Scripture also forbids a Christian from doing anything that might offend other Christians or encourage them to sin against their conscience ( 1 Corinthians 8:9-13). In light of these principles, it would be extremely difficult for any Christian to say he is drinking alcohol in excess to the glory of God ( 1 Corinthians 10:31).
Jesus changed water into wine ( John 2:1-11; Matthew 26:29). In New Testament times, the water was not very clean. Without modern sanitation, the water was often filled with bacteria, viruses, and all kinds of contaminants. The same is true in many third-world countries today. As a result, people often drank wine (or grape juice) because it was far less likely to be contaminated. In 1 Timothy 5:23, Paul instructed Timothy to stop drinking water exclusively (which was probably causing his stomach problems) and instead drink wine. In that day, wine was fermented (containing alcohol), but is not known to what degree.
Consumption of small quantities of alcohol is a matter of Christian freedom. Drunkenness and addiction are sin. However, due to the biblical concerns regarding alcohol and its effects, due to the easy temptation to consume alcohol in excess, and due to the possibility of causing offense and/or stumbling of others, it is often best for a Christian to abstain from drinking alcohol.
There may be acceptable medicinal purposes for drinking alcohol but in general recreational drinking is discouraged by Scripture. I offer these verses for consideration.
Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
Proverbs 21:17
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
Proverbs 23:20
Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
Proverbs 23:30
They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
Proverbs 23:31
Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
Proverbs 31:4
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
This is my opinion on the matter. Why don't you pray and fast and ask God Jesus or the Holy Spirit he will guide you if it is wrong then obey God stop drinking. I stopped drinking cold turkey now when I smell it I get nauseous and I don't have the desire to. I believe that Jesus Christ took the desire away. I feel it is wrong to drink alcohol although you are going to give account for your own life choose wisely because GOD is watching and taking notes. God bless you all and I love my brothers and Sisters.
YES! Drinking alcohol is very wrong, especially for those who profess to be Christians.
God (Jesus) is all about purity.
There in nothing pure about alcohol. It is the feces of the yeast microorganism. The yeast ingests the sugars in fruits and vegetables and excretes alcohol and carbon dioxide is its flatulence. This may sound funny, but it is scientific fact. It is also a scientific fact that alcohol kills, destroys, the human body - just as it kills bacteria and other organisms.
If someone were to observe the effects of alcohol on themselves, and on a society, without all of the marketing and brainwashing that is present today, it would be very obvious, and undebatable, that alcohol is wrong and bad to consume.
Those who believe that Jesus Christ created this toxic poison for His first miracle, with the intention of giving it to hundreds of people who had already had plenty, and that He also consumed it Himself, do not know God in the least.
It is a sin to consciously and intentionally destroy the human body, the vessel/temple of the Holy Spirit.
So many Christians justify their regular alcohol consumption with the ridiculous explanation that it's perfectly fine to drink as long as you don't get drunk. Each and every one of those who use this excuse drink beyond the point of being buzzed on a regular basis. Nobody in the world drinks alcohol NOT to get a buzz - and once you feel the buzz, you are intoxicated.
God doesn't care about the modern definition of .08 being the legal definition of drunkenness based on a breathalyzer. Becoming intoxicated, by any chemical substance at all, is a sin. And it opens spiritual doorways for the enemy to take control of your life. Just ask any addict who has ever struggled to get free from the spiritual snares of drugs and alcohol.
No Christian should ever touch alcohol. If you are using any substance regularly today, including marijuana, pray for help in putting it out of your life and repent of its use immediately.
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:12, "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power any."
Consuming wine or strong drink is lawful in that God allows it and in some places even encourages it for celebration and mirth (Duet 14:26, Psa 104:14-15, Ecc 10:19), but only when consumed with temperance and moderation ( Eph 5:18, Gal 5:22-23).
For some people, it is not expedient (helpful to be the Christian they should be) to drink because it may be too tempting for them. It requires self examination before God to determine if you want that input in your life or not. It is a liberty, but a liberty is merely an opportunity to be stupid and allow something in your life that could lead to sin. At that point, it is no longer a liberty but a pet sin that needs to be cut off ( Matt 5:29-30). That passage from Matt 5 is in context of sexual sins, but I would say that the lesson can still be applied to this subject.
Jesus did drink. He did not make grape juice at the wedding. The governor said it was good wine and that the wine they were serving would have an affect on people which is why they generally served the good wine first ( John 2:10). He was accused of being a winebibber (a drunkard) and a glutton because he drank wine and ate ( Luke 7:33-34). New wine is not unfermented wine that wouldn't get you drunk, we know that because the apostles were accused of being drunk with new wine in Acts 2:13-15.
There are many negative verses in the Bible against drunkenness (not drinking, drunkenness). It is incorrect to only take the negative verses and preach that any consumption of alcohol is sin. We as Christians need to rightly divide the Bible and not create a private interpretation without seeing the entire viewpoint the Bible shows ( 2 Tim 2:15; 2 Pet 1:20).

Jesus's first miracle was turning water into wine ( John 2:1-11):

We know it contained alcohol based on the ruler's comment on John 2:9-10.

God does not lie!
If that's the case then you say Jesus committed sin & He's just as we are, sinners, therefore His salvation message is worthless!
The Bible says the Jesus turned water to wine, not fermented wine, it was the fruit of the vine, not alcohol.
