Here is my understanding of Colossians 3:5. Interesting, it says mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;

Mortify means put to death. It means to allow the members of your body and its desires to die. Stop trying to revive them. Stop trying to reach back into the old life. You're losing desire for those old things, so let it die.

And he gives us a list of 5 things:

Fornication, which is sexual immorality. Uncleanness, which is all sexual impureness. Inordinate affection, which is physical passion.

(Evil concupiscence), which means evil mental desires.

And covetousness, which we call greed. And the word covetousness literally in the Greek means the desire to have more. Being greedy and covetous is the desire to have more than what you have.

And notice what he calls it: which is idolatry:

It's a form of worship and it's idolatry toward God to be greedy and have the desire to have more than what God has given you.

Paul gives us the cause in Verse 6.

Elsewhere the word is translated simply as lust. Here it seems to imply obsessive sinful desire.

With very boldness what Isaiah said and to Israel what he said?

The wrath of God because of sin is what we are saved from .

Sin for some is a season of pleasure and very deceptive and deadly yet they don't see that .

By faith we believe the effects of Sin .

If you read about the seven churches, you have a mix of faithful and unfaithful people in the churches . Most where called to repentance. Some had slipped from a previous walk . The lord did not abandon them but warned them .

I agree it possible to be over comers and we are called to be . We can live victoriously over sin , but there will be a lot of trouble in this world for doing so , but we seek a better one to come where righteousness is .

God excepted Job and Job prayed for his friends that God did not except , seems Jobs friends where unable to speak to God at all or God would not hear them. It's a good study . There is a sin unto death and a sin not unto death . God of course is the judge of all errors . Bottom line is sin never can be taken lightly . The importance of intercession is well seen when sin or errors happen . Thank God he prefers mercy or we all would be doomed .

I agree, Sin is a good subject to discuss. You state: "What are we saved from? We can be saved from sin." If you stand on that premise, then certainly, Christ's Salvation saves us from sinning again. But if one believes that His Salvation doesn't do that, rather saves us from the penalty of sin, then this becomes very different.

There are three aspects in the Work of Salvation: 1. a legal requirement by God (i.e. a complete & lasting payment was required for our sin so that God could forgive us on that basis): Romans 8:1,2. There was no other option in God's Mind to consider another possibility to redeem sinful man to Himself. So we say that we are Justified before God (i.e. just-as-if-I'd never sinned).

2. a purifying requirement (i.e. a sinner who has been saved is expected to deal with sin, with temptations & slip ups). He cannot continue in a sinful lifestyle as the Spirit of God abides in him ( 2 Corinthians 1:21,22) to convict him & give him power to live in holiness, putting on the whole armour of God ( Ephesians 6). We are Sanctified, set apart & the work of sanctification is an on-going work to bring us into the likeness of Jesus.

3. a glorifying requirement (i.e. this is the end result for those who have been justified & sanctified). Our future glorification can only be the result of God's Work in us ( Romans 8:17), accepting us, not because we claim to be sinless, but rather we are sinners saved by His Grace alone, justified, sanctified & having our hope resting only on the Lord Jesus, having fought the battle well.

It would be a nice thought to believe that we can never sin in this life. All believers have struggled with sin, even the great Apostle Paul ( Romans 7), & we will continue to do so until our spirits return to God. Any who claim that they don't sin, either have an incorrect understanding of what sin is or are deluded into believing their present state is sinless.

Job was perfect before God ( Job 1:8) yet he sinned (9:20). He was accepted.

Jesus fasted 40 days and 40 nights without eating. God had His angels minster unto Him. Jesus was absolutely on a mission for God. Our church had a 10-day fast. It was from midnight to noon, or midnight to 3:00PM without food, but praying all the while in our heart. Let God speak to you. He knows your heart. On the 10th night we had all night prayer meeting and the Spirit of God was high. People were saved, and some received the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of the Lord came by and everyone was really blessed. Let Jesus lead you in all things. If you are on medication, take it with water and go on with the fast as you physically can. You can fast 5 days, 7 days. Talk with Jesus. It is also a suggestion to have someone fast with you. This way, you have a prayer partner and spiritual support. Jesus said when two or three are gathered in my name, I'll be there. How great is this!

Blasphemy is speaking against the Word of God, and speaking profanely about God. Man can be saved from every thing except blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. St. Mark 3:228-29: "All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation." This is truly unforgiving. Be warned never, never commit this act.

Let's discuss sin. The main reason God sent his only begotten (special) Son Jesus into this world, was to save us from sin. St. John 3: 16-17, For God so loved the world, that He sent his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. What are we saved from? We can be saved from sin. Jesus is the light of the world. Verse 18: Every one that doeth evil hateth the light..." Verse 36. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

God is perfect, holy, loving, longsuffereing and excellent. Sin cannot and will not be in his presence. Jesus is perfect and he tells us in St. Matthew 5:48: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. When Jesus tells us to be perfect, he furnishes the Holy Ghost power for us to be perfect. Believe in Jesus, practice His doctrine of righteousness each and every day. We must exercise faith in God. Without faith it is impossible to please God. The Bible also tells us, "without faith we sin". We must sincerely love and trust God with all our mind, body, soul and strength.

Jesus told the adulterous woman, "Go in peace and sin no more." We are saved when we remove sin from our lives. St. Luke 14:33: ...There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Repentance is the key. We must stop sinning and live righteously. Every eye shall see Jesus, but none but the pure in heart shall see God. St. Luke 19:10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. We are lost without Christ in our lives.

St. John 8:24: ...Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. What is sin? It is trangressing the law of God. The ten commandments tells us what we cannot do. Ephesians 4:24...Put on the new man,

Collosians 3:3 We are hid in Christ in God. This means as a child of God we have this assurance that no evil shall find me. Because in order to get to me you first have to go through Christ and then through God. This is impossible Because Christ is the solid rock no force can peneteate through Christ. God neither slumber nor sleep. God is the Alfa and the Omega. The ancient of Days. The Great I am that I am! Nothing can peneteate or get near the eternal Source of all creation. Halleiuah

You can sing songs of worship and praises to Him. You may even dance.

When Christ who is our life shall appear, then shall we see him in glory. The immutable always present God is with us through the power of the Holy Spirit and He will manifest himself in the glorious epiphany in the clouds and we shall see him as he is holy, harmless, righteous and our everlasting Savior. What glory this will be when Jesus we will see and be just like him. This is the blessed hope of the church and we wait patiently for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to appear in the clouds to reveal our life in him which is hidden now.

In king Solomon's case As we read 1st kings 11: 1 through 9. His affections were set on the world. It took his focus off of God and caused him to sin. We have to remember what Paul said we must lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets us.

The gospel is the Virgin birth, the sinless life of Jesus, His death on the Cross for the sins of mankind (past, present, future),

and the triumphant resurrection of Jesus from the grave.

I'm going to just mention that His ascension to heaven (to sit at the right hand of God) was witnessed and recorded in scripture.

The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and is not of any private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20).

The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of god: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned ( Cor. 2:14).

You cannot just change the word 'born' to 'baptize'. The word of God is not of any private interpretation. The water is the living water (Christ) and unless a person is born of the water and the Spirit , he cannot enter into the kingdom of God ( John 3:5; Isaiah 44:3,4; Matthew 3:11; Titus 3:5).

We invite you to study what it means to repent ( Acts 26:18) and the baptism of repentance ( Mark 1:4; Luke 3:3; Acts 13:24; 19:4), as it means a lot more than what by nature you have been conditioned to believe.

Water baptism and circumcision was an act of faith but could not save people. Then the next question should be asked: Faith in what?

Seek, and ye shall find ( Matthew 7:7).

And if getting to heaven is based on works, how do you ever know when enough was enough? People who sin are not pleasing God and will be convicted and condemned for it. Life will not be ok and there will be consequences one will have to face. No one is perfect and never can be. Jesus dying on the Cross paid our sin debt in full and for people who do not believe in his blood shed and reasoning and who he is will not go to heaven. There is absolute logic in Christianity since we were all born into sin like one who is born with a disability we NEEDED a sinless man, son of God, like Jesus Christ to be crucified in order to be set free from what occurred once Eve and Adam ate the fruit. Open KJV bible and ask for wisdom from God to open your eyes to the truth, you are already digging for it by coming to this page. Something must surely be missing and clearly it is you who needs it just as much as the rest of us. We all NEED Jesus.

God planned marriage from the start. He officiated at that marriage. Eve was called His Wife.

Me: to know what is right and to do it are two different things. You can do it according as God meant it's to be or you can spin it some other way.

1 Timothy 4:3 actually says that in the last days before Jesus returns: SOCIETY would forbid people to eat meat, or get married!
