Luke 2:36-38 does give us one example of a woman at the Temple (Anna) who devoted her life after her husband died to prayer. We could look at Hannah also; at least spending time there imploring God's favor. Just food for thought...
Here in the last few chapters in Deuteronomy we are seeing regulations for domestic and personal relations.
This passage of scripture speaks against asceticism. "asceticism, (from Greek aske: "to exercise," or "to train"), the practice of the denial of physical or psychological desires in order to attain a spiritual ideal or goal.
Application for this in our day in the middle ages there were groups saw the corruption in the world, and they separated themselves and went to the extreme and retired to monasteries and some became eunuchs.
Thank you for your time in providing an answer that seems honest in your heart. Obviously by what you wrote, God has allowed you to continue to live, likely for His purpose.
Thank you so much for responding to me. I will definitely take heed to what you wrote. I heard about the movie, "The Shack" and I heard it was good. I will take a look at it. One thing that I didn't think to do was to forgive myself. I will definitely put this into practice. Again, thank you.
From a young age, anyone that has ever gone out of their way to do harm to me, or my family, I have hit back with twice the amount of force needed to end the conflict ( Rev 18:6). Know when turning a cheek puts you in grave danger. This is a physical world; put Satan in his place.
We all must remember the Bible was written at THAT time. However, God specifically gives us the Promise of Eternal Life for the Crucifix upon the Cross of Jesus Christ our Lord has allowed our sins to be forgiven. Gods word and Law DOES NOT EVER CHANGE, PERIOD. There is a certain number of times this is stated, however I can not recall it. As, he speaks in symbolic and numbers.
God, himself stated in Bible that it is known that all man are rebellious. So, we have a choice. We either follow God or we think we can take control, thus allowing that temptation and Satan to get what he wants and to further this by turning us to Hate Gods heart.
Just because our "time" "generation" of life here is not the same as when Bible was written DOES NOT allow us to try to define/change the LAW/WORD of God to our generation. For, How does Revelation exist, thus already telling us what to do for when our time of Eternal Life in Heaven comes?!?!
They did not have BF or GF back then. Ok. And, thus does not change his LAW- this means we Follow his Word and abide by the Law and we place it into our life of the interpretation to remain within His Law.
We must remember every evil on earth - one of them personally knows us so well, that they easily target us with temptation when it happens because they are always waiting for just the little slip to continue us into a brain fog and fully control us. God states, to always call upon Him first in any situation and He will Promise to guide us.
We Christians know that we carry Gods temple- within us- our Holy Spirit. We already are given the right choice to make upon life and choices. We also still have the choice to think we are strong and can handle things on our own.
So, let's use Gods temple within us and call upon God before we try to interpret his Word to accommodate our sins.
Deuteronomy c.23 v21-23,is talking about a vow to god. Ecclesiastes c.5-v 4-5. Questions here's the Old Testament time, can you break a vow, we are living in the New Testament time, Jesus came to bears our sin on the cross. I need your feedback on this. Thanks.
An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their TENTH generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:
Deuteronomy 23:2
A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his TENTH generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
[a non-covenant believer]
Mark 8:12
And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
Malachi 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Isaiah 41:4
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.
Isaiah 58:12
And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
Matthew 1:17
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
In the "time of Abraham a generation was an hundred years, thus: Gen." "15:16, "In the fourth generation" = in four hundred years (comp." verse 13 and Ex. 12:40). In Deut. 1:35 and 2:14 a generation is a period of thirty-eight years.
Steve, I've never imagined that Deut 23:18 referred to the trafficking of dogs for profit. Did they even do such a thing in those days? What would have been the demand for dogs at that time? I've always thought of this verse to apply to the preceding verse, in reference to the Sodomites, where both the harlot & male prostitute were great abominations to the Lord. But I do agree, that our furry friends can be the most loving & faithful companions around.
To Joy Isa.1:18 - Jesus wants us to be reasonable in all things of His word. Jesus came to 'fulfill' the law, yes, but ONLY the moral law; That's why He allowed the 2nd temple to be destroyed in 70 a.d.; because His people would not leave the ceremonial law and turn to Him. And that's why he dispersed them so they couldn't rebuild it. In this life WE are His temple, 1 Cor.6:19-20.
The Law was created and written by God.If he changes not and is not like man that he should lie.Why would his law change or become void through Jesus. After all Jesus came to came to uphold the law not do away with the law.
Antonio G. Read Hebrews 12:6-9 for a full understanding of what a bastard actually is. It is not a child of unwed parents, as Satan's bastards would have you believe. Plainly and simply, God never once created a bastard in any child, but Satan corrupts those who choose to follow him in self-will. In the plainest of language, a bastard is defined in one word . . . SATANIST! See: Deut. 23
Jesus have come to give us life. We need to thank his precious blood that shed for us. We are saved by his grace in the hands of Satan. Our job now is to obey his words and commandments until rapture. Exodus 20.. We need to show our obedience to Jesus as he had showed his perfect obedience to the Father. Meditating God's words day and night are more important and more powerful than prayers. God loves us and always do what is good and avoid doing evil things coz salvation is not for everyone. God will only save for his own people who love him and obey his words and commandments until rapture. Amen and thanks be to God
Jesus have come to give us life. Thanks to Jesus for sheding his precious blood to us in order for us to have life in abundance. We are save by his Grace and not of what we have done. Our job now is to believe Jesus that he is our Savior and obey his words. Without obedience to his words and be Born Again in Spirit its impossible for us to enter into the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is within us. What a lovely Holy Father and our God is faithful to his words and promises. Because of his mercy and love to us he has anointed us with oil. When God is with us who can be againsts us?.. I will continue praising God and thanking God for everything he have done into our lives for he is worthy to be praised. Amen
Gone to Hell before i was even born what do you think? Christ Jesus died for everyone, including you so that people may not go to hell. Although the Old Testament laws have their reason that being laws set forth for obedience , so us long as one rest upon the Gospel of Christ for salvation, you will be saved and not go to hell.
No Antonio it dose not mean you can 't go to heaven. That was the big difference between grace and law. for by grace are you save through faith. The law then was set up to keep Israel pure because they were the chosen people God would use to bring and to reveal himself unto man.The only thing that will keep you out of heaven is if you are not born again.God said whosoever will let him come that include all. mercy keep us form what we deserve and grace give us what we don 't deserve. For all have sin and come short of the glory of God.

It's a form of legalism taken to the extreme.
I walked around the house saying, I forgive you... and one day I realized I didn't feel those feelings anymore. I was set free! It's a miracle.
:)
Thank you so much for responding to me. I will definitely take heed to what you wrote. I heard about the movie, "The Shack" and I heard it was good. I will take a look at it. One thing that I didn't think to do was to forgive myself. I will definitely put this into practice. Again, thank you.
Try turning the other cheek and see the blessings therein.
There will be no feelings of relief or joy for some time. Every thought that strays to the bitterness: just say I forgive you (or even I forgive me)
It may take a 1000 times... just be obedient.
One day you'll realize it's gone. The bitterness is gone. You're free. Forever.
There's a movie I love about this very thing. Most super spiritual people hate it. It helped me.
It's called The Shack.
The guy who played in Avatar acts in it.

It is interesting to note that the word for "dog" is the Hebrew words "kol" meaning "all" and "leb" meaning "heart."
