I real enjoyed reading Deuteronomy chapter 28 it brought out in me joy at the being than sorrow or pity because it's a shame that a person would choose darkness over the light of The Lord God that has so much to give and ask little in thought.I perfer to be with JESUS. AMEN

  • Brotha of Knowledge on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
One of the heaviest chapters in the whole Bible. Serving other deities, graven images of wood and stone, and being destroyed as a people.

It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God Heb 10:13. Thank you Lord Jesus for coming to save us for the latter part of Deu 28 is fearful indeed Verse 47 indicates that it is not enough for us to serve God but the manner of service is even more critical. We are saved to serve and we must serve joyfully and with all our hearts. I pray Lord that we will take God's seriously Amen

Hi Bruce; If that's how it was for you, I rejoice with you. My experience went somewhat different however from yours; but I know that there was joy in the presence of the angels over this sinner that repented! I haven't kept any day for a memorial, or as special; and I stay away generally from holidays or religious tokens; but have my religion in practical application of the Spirit led life.
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
disciple, Do you believe Ecc.7:5-11? Thank you for your reply. It certainly is a growing process.
If you mean by patient "skirting around an issue, or flattering someone" when someone is speaking against his word, or making a false accusation, then be happy in your patience. (I mean that with respect, not sarcasm) The Lord has taught me to be bold, and stand up for him.

Majority Text (Textus Receptus) is that from which the KJV was rendered. It is the 1st Greek text published by Erasmus.
The Minority Text (Wescott, Hort, Nestle-Aland, United Bible Soc. Greek N.T.) is that from which every English trans. since the R.V. of 1881 has come. There are some 36,000 differences between the Eng. of the KJV

Forgive me for my comment concerning Deut. 28
  • Bruce on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
When a person is lost, they have no idea where they're at,they have a hopeless feeling. But when they see something familiar,it's WOW! They'll remember that for a lone time. When a person is saved it's a 100 times better! A Day like no other. Born-again. Born of The Spirit. A great Day of Rejoicing,a Day that will be remembered. The unchanged (lost) says no big deal, that Day means nothing.

Hi Lu2677 Thanks for your reply! I too find it very spiritually exhilarating to engage in discussion (and debate!) of the Scriptures. Not only do we exercise our skill and understanding of the Word; (as it is a two-edged sword, and he that waters himself also shall be watered); but it also teaches me how to talk to others and be patient, like I expect the Lord to be with me. Its a growing process!

Thank you, Irene: 2 Timothy 2:16-17 (Stephen's 1550 Textus Receptus) "but profane empty babblings stand aloof from; for they will advance of ungodliness (without piety), and their word as a gangrene will have pasture;..." What was the connection with Deut. 28? I can think, that the evolution of evil over centuries of defiance toward God and His Covenant, absolutely fills up what the Apostle wrote.
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Irene 123 I have comments here. Would you mind quoting what I have said that is: vain, profane, and babbling so that I can repent. If you don't, I would say your motive for giving 2 Tim. 2:16 is not fitting with the other scripture in that chapter. The others might want to know the same. I see nothing unlawful for my consideration to disciple to answer the questions.
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Hi discipleFor me the original discussion is closed,But I will answer your questions. It did not involve this chapter. This discussion page will tell you what it was about. In a real conflict that involves His Word, I contend for the faith, and I stand confident in the Lord through faith. If a thing is "doubtful";meaning not addressed specifically in scripture;is not to be an issue between believers.
  • Irene123 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
In reference to comments on Deuteronomy ch. 28 - 2 Tim. 2:16
  • A disciple on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Please excuse me again, but what exactly was the argument about? And what was it in this chapter, that led to this? "But if you bite and devour one another, take heed lest you be consumed one of another." "A soft answer turns away wrath..." and, "a brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city." There's so much super-sensitivity in these "discussions;" What do you do in a REAL conflict?
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
John 10:5 (don't follow strangers;false teachers, those teaching false doctrine-traditions of men can easily become false doctrine,a stranger might be one who leans on his own understanding,a stranger would be anyone not in the truth) John 10:27"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" Jesus knows his sheep, and they know him.
  • A disciple on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
May I also get into this discussion? I think that there are some things that we'll just have to wait to know when we get there. Jesus said, All they who are of the truth WILL hear my voice: which to me says, that we were known and marked by God before we were saved. Or what about the Book of Life, and all the innumerable souls that will be saved after the Thousand Years? I agree with Lu2677 here.
  • Bruce on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
April: You're about right. But it's not The Day you ask, it's The Day He moves in. The next day when I woke up---WOW!!! This is not The same World I went to sleep in. Same World, but a New Me! A very heavy weight going! I didn't know I had! I was always very quiet, never talked much.I knew little of The Bible, but I told Everyone what Christ has done! My cursing gone! Changed! Only by The Biood.
  • April on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
I hope it's ok to comment on Bruce and Lu's words to one another,I think what Im understanding is Bruce is saying the day you ask jesus into your heart,is a day worth remembering, and when you can't remember it may come across like it wasn't a i guess special enough day?,like remebering your birthdate, and the fruit is spiritual meat, and isnt part of being reborn baptism as well?may you be blessed!.
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Bruce, did you answer my question about what verse says Christ is "born" in someone, as you said?
Eph. 2:8 I believe this verse, do you? (My salvation is great, a gift from God by His grace, through faith.) Are you going to continue to rebuke me concerning "words" "day, date"? As you said the date is not important. If you want to continue in your slanderous post go ahead, for me; Case closed.
  • Bruce on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Lu2677:Some People that are Born Again have no idea of The Day or even The Month. They know there was That "Day",They don't have a "Date" not Important. But They Wil Boast of Their Savior, The Chance in Their Life. But it's not Boasting like you say: It's a "Testimony" of what Christ has done! The blind, lame, sick are Healed:They Told Everyone! You say that Day is not important to you. What Fruit?
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Bruce, the day one is saved and the date one is saved is the same day,yet you make a distinction. I am so glad God has you to make such a judgement about me,just because I don't agree with you on this matter. You are arguing over words, and He tells us not to do that. Can you give us verse that shows anyone in his word that was saved, gloried in the day, later; Boasting.

"If you Love me Keep my commandments" Jesus is thee only one that's sited at the right hand of the father:

  • Bruce on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Lu2677: I never said Exact Date. But The Day of Salvation, there's no other Day Like it. The Day a Person does a 180, Total Life Change. Your testimony says this has not happened to you.
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Bruce,I see the problem,I hope this puts an end to it.Christ dwells in the saved person,as scripture you quoted tells us.But you said Christ is "born" in me. I don't know any scripture that says it. John 3:3;a person cannot enter God's kingdom unless he is reborn,so this makes salvation very important. But I still say the exact date a person is saved is not important, endure til the end, is.
  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Bruce, what testimony did I give that caused you to judge that I am "in serious trouble"? Care to quote my comments that brings you to this judgment? And if you care about my situation you will answer my questions so that I can repent. I testified that "I abide in Christ", was it this one? Did you judge me using a godly standard, or your own?

  • Lu2677 on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Heather G, I am curious as to where you get your info that "Jews are the most wealthy and powerful people on earth today". It is possible that some Jews do accept Jesus as Messiah today.
Verse 15 is a very serious warning for them.
  • Heather G on Deuteronomy 28 - 7 years ago
Christians, these Scriptures were written as a prophetic warning to the ISRAELITES. Now think for a min. Did the Israelites return to THE MOST HIGH? the ones the world calls "Jews".They are the most wealthy and powerful people on the earth today.do they accept "Jesus" as Messiah even today? No
