Deuteronomy Chapter 9 Discussion

Deuteronomy Chapter 9 Discussion

Mike- The god you know is indeed anthropomorphic, because you characterized it as so. The god you know is of human origin as you implied. In addition, the god you talk about is a false god, I agree whole heartly. But the God of the scripture Who is referenced here, in these discussions, is Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent. I challenge you to find out more of this god you talk about and the God we know from the Bible. Test your premises, your facts, your arguments. Will they hold up in court? I am reading your post 6 years later. I pray that you have found the true God that you are looking for and need. May your heart be soften to the things of God before it is eternally too late. God bless you Mike and all in your area of influence.

Your parents never punished you for doing wrong? If you believe all that you posted, why then are you here?

Thank you Jesus for your mercy and grace and forgiveness

The children of Israel were strictly charged NOT to make any covenant or peace with any of the Nations of the Canaanites, but to utterly destroy without pity everything that breathes; and to completely dispossess them. That is God's judgment upon the wicked who don't repent for ever! So it is the same for us: we are saved from our sins and the ungodliness of the world to have no community with it!

Everything humans possess originate from God, including emotions. We are emotional, as God has made us in his image. God became
angry and destroyed humans in Noah's time, and Sodom and Gomorrah. This is not judging, but accurately stating what is written in the Bible. God has not destroyed man again,'because Jesus is standing in the gap for us, but the way humans are today, we
    would be gone.

There are many things in the Bible that show us the mercy of God. We must remember our thoughts are not his thoughts. Where one gives an opinion instead of being all knowing let's pray that God will show the reader his true meaning for their understanding. Thank you God; for your saving Grace and Mercy.
  • James on Deuteronomy 9 - 7 years ago
It's God who is merciful and is able to forgive not because we come with a sincere heart but because Jesus death and resurrection makes it all possible. We need to stop emphasizing what we need to do and simply look to Jesus and what he has done(death and resurrection)what he is doing(interceding for us) and what he will do(return for his children and make this world his footstool.)God bless u all

Mike:God may not use certain words but like the words you interprit and wrote on here to express your thoughts so did Moses,God also is a JEALOUS god and that is a HUMAN emotion, but GOD created us in his image,GOD knew what jealousy causes,in Genisis Cane killed Able out of jealousy,as humans we are irrational with our emotions, therefore we CANNOT look at the actions of GOD as we do for ourselves.
  • Dewey Jones on Deuteronomy 9 - 9 years ago
Mike, your words are those of a man that need to be born again. You need a spiritual rebirth because John 3:7 says, " Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again. Your words shows no wisdom because first of all you are attempting to judge the almighty God. You Are the creature he is the creator you are nowhere near qualified to judge Jehovah. Pray for the new birth from God the Holy Spiritual Father and I will be praying for you and all those who do not understand the holy scriptures. Glory be to God in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!

God knew Moses and why he had chosen him to lead the Israelites. He knew that Moses would intercede for his people. God is all knowing. He is and awesome God.

  • Mike on Deuteronomy 9:20 - 9 years ago
A god who gets angry is a FALSE or an anthropomorphic god. One "becomes " angry when something unexpected or unwanted happens. If a human disobeys a divine law, an all-knowing god would know what is to happen and so anger cannot be the result. Retribution is a human emotion, not a godly one. In any case god cannot punish humans while they are still here on earth. That happens when when people go to heaven or when they are "resurrected ". Resurrection itself is a pagan concept. The Sun does each evening and is resurrected each morning. Plants die in winter and are resurrected in spring. Humans die and ... are eventually resurrected. Therefore both that god "became angry " and wished to "kill Aaron " cannot be words of God. In fact the idea of punishment itself is anthropomorphic.

God is merciful and inspite of all that we do if we come to him with a sincere and truthful heart seeking forgiveness he is always ready and willing to forgive us He loved the children of isreal and he made a promised to their forefather and he kept inspite of their waywardness
