Discuss 1 Kings 21

Hi S. Lynn. Yours were interesting thoughts, whether God would have forgiven Ahab's son, Ahaziah, if he also repented as his father Ahab did. As you probably read in 2 Kings 1:1-18, Ahaziah was looking through the lattice work (window) & maybe leaning heavily against it, when it broke & he fell down some distance & seriously injured himself. Instead, of seeking the Lord for healing, he sent out men to enquire from a heathen god. But Elijah, God's prophet, stepped in & assured Ahaziah that for his wickedness (& of course from God's Word to Ahab ( 1 Kings 21:29)), that Ahaziah would be the one to bear the evil done by himself & his father. So, it wasn't entirely because of the sins of Ahab, but Ahaziah himself was also very wicked to warrant his demise.

It's difficult to know how God would have dealt with Ahaziah if he too repented, but we do know, in hindsight, that all the successive kings of Israel after Ahaziah were counted as 'bad kings', with only Jehu doing some good, though he too was considered as 'bad'. So, somewhere along that kingly line, punishment would have been given out, & probably to a greater extent (with suffering) as sins against God accumulated.

    John l Part 2

1 Kings 21:1 ....had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the PALACE of Ahab KING of SAMARIA.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

this verse says a new covenant with both Israel AND Judah. So how can they be the same?

Hosea 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

Romans 9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

Galatians 3:29. - And if ye be Christ's, then ARE ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

God promised Abraham he would be the Father of MANY NATIONS.

Gen 17:5 - Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of MANY many nations have I made thee.

If the "Jews" are all of Abraham, where are all these MANY "jewish nations"...?

There is only one and it was created by the antichrist United Nations and one is not many.

Either God lied (impossible) or the Jews are not all of Israel.

Where are the MANY JEWISH NATIONS of Abraham?

Judah and Israel were not the same people. God divorced Israel and not Judah. One tribe is not many

Jeremiah 3:8 - And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of DIVORCE; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

    The Lord DIVORCED ISRAEL

Israel and judah had wars and different kings as well as different capitols. Jerusalem capitol of Judah.

    Samaria capitol of Israel.

2 Kings 8:16 ...Joram the son of Ahab KING of ISRAEL, Jehoshaphat being then KING of JUDAH, ...

1 Kings 21:1 ....had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the PALACE of Ahab KING of SAMARIA.

There are very many, 1 Sam 25:22 and 1 Kings 21:21 are a couple. If you put "pisseth against a wall" in the search bar, you'll find all the verses.

29 Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house. Why the sons of Ahab? Ahab did the deed, not his sons. Never could understand why God brought down his punishment on the sons of the one that did wrong. Even to the 3rd and 4th generation.

We are reminded of the tenth commandment which says "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house........nor anything that is thy neighbour's". ( Ex. 20:17)

This is a great lessons for us, no repented sinner will be condemn, but whoever rejects the offer of salvation through Jesus Christ will be damned. The action of God towards Ahab humility towards God judgement on him confirms this.So sinner friends no matter how big your sin, God will forgive if you sincerely repent and forsake all of your sins.

Greetings in the Sovereign Name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I believe the Lord God shows that His heart is SO MOVED by ANY show of humility when man does wrong, that He's willing to deal with the LEAST of sincere reaction on our part! (I say least because King Ahab's reaction to the prophecy of doom was a sincere reaction of fear, yet pathetic in the REPENTANCE dept.; far from what Proverbs 28:13 & 1 John 1:7-10 calls for!) If God softened the sentence because of Ahab's feeble reaction, think of what He does for people that TRULY TAKE HIS WORD SERIOUSLY AND SUBMIT TO JESUS CHRIST FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT TO REALLY CHANGE THEM! Note: the GUILT is removed, but not the earthly consequences and heartfelt remorse!

If unbelievers could fast in order do evil and wickedness, how wonderful it will be when believers fast and pray according the word of GOD. The GOD of all creation will hear our prayers and answer us speedily.

Ahab was not a man after God's heart, but David was.
True David lusted after, and took another man's wife yet he repented in Psalm 51 he prayed create in me a clean heart, and restore a steadfast spirit in me. Ahab never did repent of the wicked sin he committed, and as the prophet told him the dogs would lick his, and his wife's blood in that vineyard. Be not deceived God is not mocked, whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap Gal.6:7
This should teach all of us to be careful what we sow, because it will come back to us. We should sow to the spirit, and we will reap eternal life.

I CAN NOT HELP BUT TO THINK OF DAVID, WHEN I READ THIS CHAPTER. AS DAVID DID TO OBTAIN ANOTHER MAN'S WIFE, AHAB HAS DONE FOR A VINEYARD.

WE SOMETIMES SELL OURSELVES FOR POSSESSIONS, IN THE SIGHT OF GOD. GOD'S WORD IS CLEAR, ON SEEKING HIM FIRST AND ALL THINGS WILL BE ADDED. BUT IN THIS DAY AND TIME, OUR PATIENCE AND EGO'S GET IN THE WAY. AND JUST LIKE DAVID AND AHAB, THERE IS A PRICE TO PAY FOR DISOBEYING GOD'S WORD.
