Discuss 2 Chronicles 29

The subject of the pre - trib "rapture" has been discussed even from the first century church. Proper research will show that Ephraem The Syrian spoke about this subject in one of his sermon's entitled "On the Last Times, the Anti-christ, and the End of the World" in 373AD. A translation of the sermon includes the following segment:

"For all the saints and Elect of God are gathered, prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overwhelm the world because of our sins."

The rest of the sermon deals with the events of the last days, starting with the rapture, the Great Tribulation of 3 1/2 years under the Anti-christ's rule, then the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe in the pre-trib rapture, but I will be the first to say that this does not prove that it is correct, but just to clarify that the view of the pre-trib rapture is not a new subject to the church as many would believe. God bless everyone in your service to the Lord Jesus. Most important is for us to carry out is Matthew 28:18-20.

Eric Lopez, my understanding, Ahaz was king in Judah but he did evil unto the LORD. 2 Chronicles 28:1-3 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord, like David his father: 2 For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim. 3 Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

The reference to Israel is comparing him to the kings of Israel by doing the same evil but he was king of Judah. He burned incense on the pagan shrines and on the hills which often refers to idolatrous actions, human sacrifice, and more.

His son Hezekiah did right unto the LORD. 2 Chronicles 29:1-3 Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done. 3 He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them.

Hezekiah was King of Judah, he had the priest cleanse the temple and all the vessels and undue all that his father did, and when they sacrificed and put the blood on the altar for reconciliation Hezekiah gave the command that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

Hezekiah tried to bring the house of Israel back together. He sent letters to get them to come to the Passover but most laughed at him, but three of the tribes come. 2 Chronicles 30. Ahaz and Hezekiah both were Kings of Judah one bad and one good.

    God bless, Ron

    A Ministry of PRAYER

    2 Corinthians 5:18-21

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION: to wit, that God was in Christ, RECONCILING the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us THE WORD of reconciliation. Now then WE ARE AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST, as though God did beseech you by us: WE PRAY YOU in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

    Hebrews 2:17

Wherefore in all things it behoved him (Jesus) to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make RECONCILIATION for the sins of the people.

    Ezekiel 45:15

And one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make RECONCILIATION for them, saith the Lord GOD.

    Daniel 9:24

.....to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make RECONCILIATION for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

    Leviticus 8:15

And he slew it; and Moses took the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured the blood at the bottom of the altar, and sanctified it, to make RECONCILIATION upon it.

    2 Chronicles 29:24

And the priests killed them (animals), and they made RECONCILIATION with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for ALL Israel.

Comment: We are priests through Jesus. Our prayer life is important. We are bold through His righteousness. Be strong and faithful to pray.

Who are the sons of the mighty?

    Psalms 89:6

"For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?"

True, the actual word rapture doesn't appear in the bible but the words "caught up" to meet the Lord in the air is definitely there. "Caught" in Greek means [to seize, pluck, pull, take by force, to take for oneself, prefer, choose, to raise]

To me this means we will definitely be taken by force to meet Jesus in the air. 1 Thes 4:16,17 ; Matt 24:40 ; Luke 17:34,35. This happens before the tribulation period of 3.5 yrs and is not the 2nd coming. The mark of the beast happens during the tribulation period.

Rapture in Webster's dictionary means to be carried away by emotion. Very similar so maybe this is where the word originates from.

To Jf on the "rapture ". Please show me in God's Word where the "rapture" is written. Look up John Nelson Darby from 1830 where you'll find the beginnings of the man-made rapture doctrine. Let His Word lead you into all truth.

Does it tell you in the bible if the mark of the beast happens before the rapture ?

If so, where is it at in the bible ?

Can anyone help me with my question, as to where is the Ark of the Covenant. Nothing has been mentioned of the Ark of God and the mercy seat.
  • Rick Colombe on 2 Chronicles 29 - 3 years ago
Hezekiah put everything in order, as the people would return to God. Everything was in order with the Levite's, priests, and hundreds of burnt offerings. Through all this, nothing is mentioned of the Ark of the Covenant and the mercy seat. Am I missing something here? Had the Ark of God been taken somewhere? Please help me out here, so I can gain understanding. I thank you in Jesus.

Does not all God's creation reflect His Holy Order?

What man calls the law of gravity and the laws of physics are they not the law of Christ ordered to sustain life?

God is not the author of confusion.

I believe man is confusion but God is order.

( 1 Chronicles 15:3) For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

( 2 Chronicles 29:35) So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.

Later, and we are given in scripture an exact time line, Paul was ordained an apostle by the laying on of hands Peter being the chief apostle and none of Paul's writings would have gone forth among the saints without Peter's, James' and John's approval in God.

What do you think "the song of the Lord(Yahweh) was in 2 chronicles 29:27?
Vs 30 Hezekiah commanded the Levites to sing praise unto Yahweh with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. Guessing the song was from the Psalms of David??

Verse 6: Hezekiah saw his father's bad example firsthand. He was determined to follow the right course. Even if one's parent's set a bad example, one can choose to do what is right.

Verse 11: Hezekiah had his priorities straight. He focused on restoring pure worship to the land.

Verse 8 shows that God's indignation came against Judah and Jerusalem because they turned their back on Him.
