Discuss 2 Chronicles 36

    Jema Great response!

Amos 3:1-2 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

YOU ONLY HAVE I KNOWN OF ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

Do you notice, the rest of the world wasn't sent into captivity and the duration was determined because of their neglect to rest their land. There was a Sabbath put on the land also. 2 Chronicles 36:20-21.

There is a lot on those 2 verses.

    God bless.

    Hi John ray

    Greetings in Christ JESUS

In fact it is very sad, and it is happening in whole world, and the worst it to still come for all nations. Read what JESUS said and warning the whole world by His word: Luke 21:22-36. Take a look.

By the way, there is no effect without cause. See this one example below, among many other since ancient time:

    2 Chronicles 36:14-16

14 Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the Lord which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.

15 And the Lord GOD of their fathers sent to them by His messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because He had compassion on His people, and on his dwelling place:

16 But they mocked the messengers of GOD, and despised His words, and misused His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till THERE WAS NO REMEDY. (Now it is not and will not be different, THERE IS NO REMEDY, unfortunately.)

    Romans 2:5-11

    5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous Judgment of GOD;

6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, ETERNAL life:

8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, INDIGNATION and wrath,

    9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

11 For there is no respect of persons with GOD.

    2Peter 4:17-18

17 The time is come that Judgment must begin at the house of GOD: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of GOD?

18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

    Hey Clint,

Heaven, facts, or personal beliefs could be quite diverse. The Bible tells us heaven is God's dwelling place, 2 Chronicles 36:15, God's holy temple and throne are in heaven, Psalms 11:4, and the angels are in heaven, Matthew 22:30. The tabernacle Moses was instructed to build was a copy of the one in heaven, Hebrews 8:5.

The Bible tells us no man has ascended up to heaven, John 3:13. The Bible tells us heaven even the heavens are the LORDs and the earth is for the children of men, Psalms 115:16. We are told several times, that heaven along with the earth will be changed and made new, Isaiah 65:17 Isaiah 66:22 2 Peter 3:13 Revelation 21:1, and the new earth is where those whose names are in the book of life will be and God will dwell with us, and we will see His face Revelation 21,22.

If you are thinking, like the question, we hear, are you going to heaven when you die? That is something else. My understanding of scripture is the only way man will see heaven is in a vision like Paul, 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 and John, Revelation.

    God bless,

    Tunji,

Not sure if you replied to me, and not sure of the chronological order you are working on. Nabopolassar was Nebuchadnezzar's father the first king Neo-Babylonian Empire, Nebuchadnezzar was the second. His father died shortly after Nebuchadnezzar came back from defeating Egypt and on the way back, he invaded Jerusalem and took Daniel and others 606-605 BC. Nebuchadnezzar is the only king mentioned it happened all so close his father was not named.

However, the major distress to Jerusalem did not come then but began after Jehoiakim rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar some three years later around 601B.C. 2 Kings 24:1. Nebuchadnezzar in his eighth year, 605-8=597, laid siege to Jerusalem and captured it in 597 B.C. 2 Kings 24 2 Chronicles 36:6 says Jehoiakim was carried away in fetters to

Babylon, whether alive or dead and his son, Jehoiachin, was taken captive to Babylon.

This was the first major amount of the captives of the Jews; in addition to King Jehoiachin, most of the nobility, and most of the treasury, they took to Babylon in 597 B.C. Nebuchadnezzar was then placed on the throne as a puppet, Zedekiah. 2 Chronicles 36:5-11.

Zedekiah. Over time, in malice of many admonitions from the prophet Jeremiah, Zedekiah, he too rebelled, and the Babylonians laid siege to Jerusalem once again in 587 B.C. Jeremiah 1

This siege produced devastating famine and pestilence within the metropolis, which finally fell to the Babylonians in 586 B.C. They destroyed the city and walls and burnt down the temple several weeks later on the ninth day of the month AV, (the same day of the same month that Titus destroyed the Second Temple, six hundred, fifty-six years afterward, in 70 A.D. 2 Kings 25:8-12.

The second temple was dedicated in 516 BC, 70 years after the first temple was destroyed. Daniel was taken 606-605 BC and the temple was destroyed 19 years later in 586 BC.

If this is not what you are working on let me know, I may help.

    God bless,

Biblical Contradictions in the form of a question:

Who incited David to count the fighting men of Israel?

    God did ( 2 Samuel 24: 1)

    Satan did ( I Chronicles 2 1:1)

In that count how many fighting men were found in Israel?

    Eight hundred thousand ( 2 Samuel 24:9)

One million, one hundred thousand ( I Chronicles 21:5)

How many fighting men were found in Judah?

    Five hundred thousand ( 2 Samuel 24:9)

Four hundred and seventy thousand ( I Chronicles 21:5)

God sent his prophet to threaten David with how many years of famine?

    Seven ( 2 Samuel 24:13)

    Three ( I Chronicles 21:12)

How old was Ahaziah when he began to rule over Jerusalem?

    Twenty-two ( 2 Kings 8:26)

    Forty-two ( 2 Chronicles 22:2)

How old was Jehoiachin when he became king of Jerusalem?

    Eighteen ( 2 Kings 24:8)

    Eight ( 2 Chronicles 36:9)

How long did he rule over Jerusalem?

    Three months ( 2 Kings 24:8)

Three months and ten days ( 2 Chronicles 36:9)

The chief of the mighty men of David lifted up his spear and killed how many men at one time?

    Eight hundred ( 2 Samuel 23:8)

    Three hundred ( I Chronicles 11: 11)

When did David bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem? Before defeating the Philistines or after?

    After ( 2 Samuel 5 and 6)

    Before ( I Chronicles 13 and 14)

How many pairs of clean animals did God tell Noah to take into the Ark?

    Two ( Genesis 6:19, 20)

Seven ( Genesis 7:2). But despite this last instruction only two pairs went into the ark ( Genesis 7:8-9)

When David defeated the King of Zobah, how many horsemen did he capture?

One thousand and seven hundred ( 2 Samuel 8:4)

    Seven thousand ( I Chronicles 18:4)

How many overseers did Solomon appoint for the work of building the temple?

Three thousand six hundred ( 2 Chronicles 2:2)

2 Kings 24:12 And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. This says the eighth yr of his reign so he would of been 16 by then.So 8 yrs old when he became king would of been correct.

Josiah did well but at the end did not listen to the Word of God through Necho. He was mortally wounded in the battle and later died in Jerusalem. We must keep listening to and obeying the words of God.

2 Chronicles 36:16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. Job 12:4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn. Luke 23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. Luke 23:36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

In order to rule over Gods people you must first surround yourselves with people who know God and respect his authority. Young people have to grow into such knowledge and seek God and his wisdom to fully understand the power of the Lord God.

Like ancient Latin, the Hebrew language uses the letters of the alphabet for numbers. The difference between eight and eighteen is the presence of a "hook " symbol over the letters for eighteen, and if the person who copied the manuscript failed to add the "hook, " the error would be recorded and repeated. These occasional scribal errors in no way affect the inspiration of Scripture and do not touch upon any major teaching in the Bible. The text clearly ascribes willful evil to this king, something not to be expected if this was merely a boy of eight subject to the whims of many royal advisors. Both Chronicles and Kings note that he reigned only three months after which he was taken captive. At the time of this captivity his wives note the plural were taken as well. This is clearly indicative of an eighteen year old king and not an eight year old who would not even be considered a man under Jewish law. Consider how he became king... 2 Chronicles 36 5 8 Jehoiakim was twenty five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem and he did evil in the sight of the Lord his God. 6 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him and bound him with bronze chains to take him to Babylon. 7 Nebuchadnezzar also brought some of the articles of the house of the Lord to Babylon and put them in his temple at Babylon. 8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and the abominations which he did, and what was found against him, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. And Jehoiachin his son became king in his place. NASU Nebuchadnezzar was the reason Jehoiachin became king after his father was deposed in 597 B.C. It is highly improbable that Nebuchadnezzar would have placed an eight year old into this position as he would not have one individual to hold responsible, as any young king would be subject to a multitude of advisors. In fact, when Nebuchadnezzar subsequently removed Jehoiachin he made his uncle king and not one of Jehoiachin 's very young children. Also, if Jehoiachin was only eight years old, it 's unlikely that he would have been imprisoned in Babylon 2 Kings 24 15, 25 27 . Some translations now legitimately have corrected this error in the text... 2 Chronicles 36 9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. NIV The bottom line is that with confidence we can state that Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign.

Blessed be you my brother sister? Battyus for the clarification. My sister brother? Siti, the bible was written by God 's mind through man 's erring hands. Verses 15 16 explain how God tries to keep us but we refuse until 'this is no remedy "....sad.

Why do many scholars state Chronicles 36 is end of Old Testament, despite the last verse of Chap. 36 has knowledge and is similar to start of Ezra Nehemiah? When written, not placement in Bible.

    Hello Ali Omar:
It is very interesting, how the Bible describes the various kings' ages and the beginning and the end of their reigns.

At first sight there are many discrepancies, that you can only understand if you compare all the relevant verses from the Books of Kings and Chronicles.

I guess you've already started doing this comparison, that's how you've found these seemingly contradicting verses.

    To answer your question:
Jehoiachin was 18 years old when he ***Officially*** took over the throne in Judah and reigned for exactly 3 months and 10 days.

When in 2Chr 36:9 says that he was 8 years old, it refers to Jehoiachin's age when his ***Co-regency*** started with his father.

His father (Jehoiakim) was king for 11 years, that means 10 years will go by before the next king will reign. This means that the 8 years old Jehoiachin will become 18 years old when he will ***Officially*** sit on the throne of Judah.

2Kings 24:8 only gives you 3 months, as it did not go into exact details to mention the 3 Months and 10 days.

You can find an in depth study about the Kings of Judah and Israel at Link
