Easter is not all about what people think but it is about the remembrance of Christ resurrection
  • Irene123 on Acts 12 - 9 years ago
To Albert on easter - first off, since you don't go along with easter - why capitalize and make it - IMPORTANT .....? 2nd off - I'm with you on this. 3rd off - our church calls it Resurrection Sunday, nor do we have egg hunts.
  • BSP on Acts 12 - 9 years ago
Herod died a horrible death for accepting glory that should have gone to God.
  • ALBERT on Acts 12 - 9 years ago
Easter was not the time of celebration as how some other think it is for the LORD celebration. But it is a pagan day of worship but not for the LORD..
  • Bud on Acts 12 - 9 years ago
I am in disagreement with Richard, it is true that the James killed by Herold was the brother on John the son of Zebedee, but the other James was not the brother of Jesus ( Mark 3: 18) he was son of Alphaeus. Jesus brother James did not become a follower until after Jesus death. ( Acts 1: 14)
  • Jo on Acts 12 - 9 years ago
I disagree with Mary on the celebration of Easter. I celebrate Easter as the glorious day of our Lord Jesus Christ's Resurrection. Some people may celebrate for other reasons, but that is their problem.

This James was Jesus' brother who became a leader in the Jerusalem church; Acts 15:18 , Galatians 1:9. The James who was killed (Acts12:2) was John's brother and one of the original 12 disciples.
  • Linda roberson on Acts 12 - 10 years ago
In verse 2 of Acts 12 Herod killed James...Then in verse 17 go show these things unto James..Is it the same James?

Brenda ragsdale's and Angela Barnes': Acts 12:4 Easter verse 3 1 King Herod seized Peter also, he saw the people were pleased when he arrested some who belonged to the church. James the brother of John was put to death. 2 Notice Peter was arrested during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The Feast of Unleavened Bread was the week following Passover. Passover was for one day only. The Feast of Unleavened Bread was a week long festival directly following Passover.. 3 Passover had passed, Passover was over. 4 Herod intended after "EASTER" to bring him, Peter, forth to the people. Jeremiah 7:18 speaks of the Queen of Heaven, Ishtar, also know as Estar, she is a goddess, the Mesopotamian goddess of love and fertility 44:17 . This pagan celebration was held the same time of year as the Feast of Unleaved Bread. There is much info out there giving Bible verses you can check for yourself. Easter was a Roman pagan celebration. There were many disgusting things that happen and after reading all I can find on "Easter" and it being a pagan holiday I myself will not have anything to do with it.

Believe and all things are possible
  • Monie Harriet on Acts 12 - 10 years ago
The Days of Unleavened Bread is known as The Passover for Jews. During the Passover , Jews are only to eat unleavened bread to commemorate the exodus of the Jews from slavery in Egypt when they could only have bread without leaven. The Passover is when The Last supper took place and Jesus was arrested after the Passover Over (dinner). So Peter was arrested also during the Passover days.

This means that those who keep their self in the Lord and obey his word no matter how God will bless them and fight for them in all things
  • Audrey Jones on Acts 12:4 - 10 years ago
Throughout Holy Scripture Creator God clearly warns against mixing pagan gods into our worship for the Christian community to perpetrate use of this term in reference to Christ's Resurrection and to muddy the Jewish Holy Days is reprehensible
  • Apostle Dickson Aibuedefe on Acts 12:24 - 11 years ago

  • Sallie on Acts 12:4 - 11 years ago
Easter was considered a pagan holiday commemorating the spring time of the year...adopting the rabbit because of its fertile nature,..hence, the goddess of fertility,Eastre, became Easter.
  • RACHEL on Acts 12:4 - 11 years ago
I prefer the King James version because it was so carefully translated. I stumbled over Easter at first. But see it is correctly used.
  • Anonymous on Acts 12:4 - 11 years ago
The Greek word "pascha " is translated Easter here because it is the only place in the Bible where "pascha " appears in a post-Resurrection context. The Early Church did celebrate Easter but they called it "Pascha " instead. The Greek Orthodox Church still continues this practice today by celebrating Pascha instead of Easter.

I am at a situation that needs God 's fast intervention. To me, it is an "iron gate " situation I hold on to God that just like He did for Peter, my situation will give way open on its own accord. I look forward to sharing my testimony I pray someone reading this comment will key into to what I have written in faith.

Peters deliverance came about as he remembered the words of Jesus concerning his death in John21 18-19.He had faith in Jesus words...He went to sleep whilst inder sentence of death....how many could do that.Faith is a rest,,,Hebrews4 3...the3 church prayed continually..in total unbelief as when Peters deliverance became known..they laughed and said to Rhoda...your mad...did not believe their own prayers...I could say lot more but you probably had enough of me...thanks
