Amen to Acts 16;30-31 also please pay attention to everything Jesus and his Apostles taught on believing EX: Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved v17 signs that follow believers speaking with new tongues as mentioned in Acts 2:4 they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and spake in other tongues that were new to them. Believers should receive the Holy Ghost John 7:39
In Acts 2 the Kingdom is still being offered to the Jews see Lk23:24, Acts 2:14,22, 36. The question asked is what must WE do, not what must I do as in Acts 16:31. This was before the mysteries were revealed to Paul see Rom 16:25. They blasphemed the Holy Ghost in Acts 7 and God went to the Gentiles. We get Gentile baptism Matt 28:19, Acts 10:48 because Jews are not the nations Num 23:9.
Acts 16:32 - "And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house." By this, you can see Paul and Silas didn't just say, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
Acts 2:37, " ..... men and brethren, what must we do?" v. 38; Acts 16 30 - " ..... Sirs, what must I do to be saved"? v. 33 - "..... and was baptized, he and all his, straightway." Paul and Silas told him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. To 'believe' is more than just 'mental' assent. Read Jas.1:22,23, 17,18, 20-22, 24-26. To believe is simply faith; to have faith is to believe.
To Graham on 12 3 13 - What a beautiful testimony!! I love seeing the TRUTH on here. It's true - people take from God's Word just what they want - and that in itself nullifies God's word to others nobody's getting the whole truth.
My friends you cannot earn your way to Heaven by obeying or abiding in the will of God. We are sinners and we need a savior. Jesus died and rose again to give us eternal life and he promises that all who ask him for salvation will be saved. Acts 16:30 "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,"
DR., ELDER, WILLIAM H DEWBERRY.JR. on Acts 16 - 8 years ago
SO FAR, I AM VERY IMPRESSED, AS ALWAYS WHEN I READ THE BOOK OF ACTS, WHICH I TITLE THE ACTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN, BY, WITH, AND THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT. I BELIEVE, THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT IN ME IS, GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHICH IS GOD AND JESUS, AND LIMITED IN ME BY FAITH. FROM THE 1ST CHAPTER THROUGH THE 16TH CHAPTER THERE IS ONE THOUGHT I RECEIVED, JESUS IS, FOREVER.
Acts 16:35-40. The Spirit of God will convict every man who ever mistreats a believer. No man will ever escape His convicting power. But note: repentance is up to the man. God cannot repent for the man. Repentance is the man's responsibility. And if the man does not respond to God's conviction by repenting, he will be judged and condemned eternally. God Bless.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, lean not on thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge him. And he will direct thy paths."
You are trusting in man.
I agree totally with you. But how do we know what will come true and what wont, even after we have prayed, believed, trusted, been prophesied to about the same thing over and over have had dreams for years about the samething? I never shared the dreams with anyone a total stranger came to me in a different city and said the same it never happened.
To believe is to commit : To deposit , like you would deposit money in a bank account. I can never express the Great Goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ how that He would come to a sin sick world to save humanity : But He did and I am so very Grateful that He called me to be one of His children . It is a Great Privilege to be one of His own and to own a copy of His Holy Word !!!!!
Peter was given the keys to the kingdom of heaven which was turned down in Matthew 12:31, forgiven in Luke 23:34 and turned down again in Acts 7:51. Paul was sent to the Gentiles, Rom 11:13, Acts 9:15, 1 Tim 2:7, 2 Tim 1:11. No one asked what must I do to be SAVED in Acts 2. That question is asked and answered in Acts 16:31. Acts 2 is a Jewish message to Jews expecting the return their Messiah.
I noticed for the first time that if we are locked in any type of prison be it mental or physical,if we pray and sing praises to God... not only will we be set free but OTHERS around us that hear will ALSO be SET FREE. Thar is powerful praise God!
Paul and Silas gives us an example of the power of prayer and praise. We only need to read down to the next first, verse 16:26 to see results of prayer and praise.
praising of faith connects Man to God.And the praising that changes evil plan to victory comes from the heart of man unto God. Praising God in holiness manifests God's power and breaks chains of evil. Children of God, let's always praise God in terms of good and trials in our lives as Paul and Silas did. Pst. Joseph Benjamin.
When we go through situations and it seems no way out if we like Paul and Silas sing praises and pray the Lord will deliver us. If we will praise the Lord for what He is doing in the situation instead of murmuring and complaining it will be a positive witness for the Lord to others and bring salvation to them.
Notice they received the Holy Spirit before water baptism in verse 44. Romans 8:26 is not speaking of speaking in tongues because it says " but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which CANNOT BE UTTERED. The Church Age saint does not have to keep himself saved because God does that Eph 1:13, 4:30, 1 Corinthians 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. If baptism is a "Command, " how are unsaved children obeying a command? An unborn child can 't obey the Fathers commands until he has been born. John 3:5 flesh is water birth. We say, her water broke. Mark 16:16 is still the gospel of the kingdom not the gospel of the grace of God. Can you drink poison and handle snakes? Acts 2:38 is to Jews see verse 5,14,22,etc. They say what must WE do? Not what must I do to be saved? Acts 16:31. Acts 22:16 says calling on the name of the Lord. Matthew 28:19 says nothing about water baptism saving anyone. The apostle never got baptized according to Acts 2:38 and all are in heaven now. It was a Jewish faith Rom 1:16 that involved signs 1Cor 1:22, 14:22. Acts transitions from Jew to Gentile, from Law to Grace. Your gospel for today is 1 Cor 15:1-4. Trust the shed blood of Jesus Christ and go to heaven. Water only gets you wet in this dispensation.
Acts 16:30 "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,"
Acts 16:31, John3:16; Eph.1:7; Eph.2:8,9
You are trusting in man.
