Part 2 NENE. Now James is addressed to the twelve tribes. See verse 1. We know that there is a doctrinal change after Philemon because there is a distinguishing of Jews and gentiles again. Hence the twelve tribes. Under Paul's church age doctrine, there is no difference when you are saved Gal 3:28. James is addressed doctrinally to the Jews in the tribulation. See Revelation 7:4 for example. Now the Bible can 't contradict so we read in James 2:14 that justification is by works then in Romans 3:24,4:24, and 5:1 Justification by faith. Which is it? Paul is our spokesman for today Rom 11:15,16:4, 1Tim 2:7,2 Tim 1:11,2:7,etc. So for the church age justification is by faith alone Eph 2:8-9. After the church is caught out 1 Thess 4:16-18 the Holy Spirit will again deal much like the O.T. and salvation can be lost again and one must endure to be saved. See Matt 24:13, Heb 3:6,14, etc. You don 't have to endure to be saved in the church age, Christ will make sure you endure 1 Cor 1:8 and you are sealed Eph 1:18,4:30. Hope this helps.

NENE. All scripture is profitable. Meaning we can use it but doctrine is the first purpose of scripture. The Bible has proper divisions. You must listen to your spokesman for your day or you are applying someone else 's mail. Example, you don 't have to build an ark to save yourself and your family. You can eat pork today even though there were a group of people under the law who could not. You can apply many scriptures spiritually but not doctrinally. All scripture is for you profitably but not to you doctrinally.

In Acts 7: 51-60 is where Stephen was trying to tell everyone about the Lord and they stoned him to death cause he called them saying Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: As of today to many people are listing to those that have no structure in there own lives but we have to be honest with ourselves first in order to get to God in truth. Acts 2:38-47 is really real it has been real for over 16 years in my life. After receiving the Holy Ghost I no longer smoke, use drugs or alcohol anymore! Hallelujah

Hello Jacob read James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? not alone, Vs.18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. And yes the Bible does state that we shall live by faith but notice in Romans 1: 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The JUST shall live by faith. The word JUST means the people of God and in Proverbs 11:7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth. UNJUST means people who do not walk with Jesus 2Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: The Law was written for our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ and yes we are saved by grace after receiving the Holy Ghost. God Bless!

Hello John the upper room was a chosen place by Jesus himself read Acts 1:1-8 is where his chosen people who are sincere seeking him were to wait for the promise which is the Holy Ghost as you read Acts 2 on the day of Pentecost where every nationality was present this lets us know it 's for us today. I know without any doubt if you will find you a private place to pray to God and ask him to reveal himself to you as you read I promise he will show you more than you know already. God Bless You!

You will follow Peter to hell fire if you are going by Acts 2 to get to heaven. That is a Jewish message to Jews with a Jewish baptism that John the Baptist preached. Peter never preached that same message again. And by chapter 15 Peter had realized that God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts BY FAITH. Acts is a transitional book from law to grace, from Jew to Gentile, form Peter to Paul. Don 't go to hell in Acts 2 when you can go to heaven in Romans 10:5.

Hello everyone as I was reading the comments it was very touching but what must be clearly understood is the saving message that was given to Peter by Jesus himself in Matt.16:18-19 the keys to the kingdom of heaven, now I don 't know about anyone else but I would rather be safe than sorry. After Jesus had spoken to Peter about the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church in Matthew as read above scriptures was given. Myself I would follow Peter to see where, when and how those keys were going to be used. As in Acts 2:36-47 The Lord added to the Church daily such as should be saved. I received the Holy Ghost in April 17,1998 and it still works and I promise if you will just give God some of your time and find you a private place to pray and repent for all of your sins then ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost and you will not regret it. God Bless everyone!

What that passage in Ephesians is talking about is there is only one saving faith, and Lord, and baptism. The baptism that places you into the body of Christ see Eph 1:22-23, is the baptism of the Spirit mentioned in 1 Cor 12:13. When trust the Gospel for us today mentioned in 1 Cor 15:1-4 you are placed into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit and sealed unto the day of redemption Eph 4:30, 1:13.

John 's baptism was for repentance whereas Acts 2:38 baptism was for the remission of sins and is still valid today. Yes, after we are born again, we are added to the kingdom. Colossians 2 explains baptism well, also. Yes, there were all Jews present on the Day of Pentecost. Jesus wanted the Gospel taken to the Jews first, then the Gentiles. The gospel is one. Ephesians talks about one faith, one Lord, one spirit one baptism. Make believers first, then baptize them. It is the height of absurdity to suggest the Acts 2:38 baptism is not used today. Philip would have corrected the eunuch, Hey man you believe, no need to be baptized. He did not. A deeper study is required. With much prayer.

Rev ch 21 v 14 talks of the 12 foundations and in them the names of the 12 apostles of the Lamb. So Acts ch 1 is so important because, as verses 21 and 22 prove, Paul cannot be an apostle as he did know Jesus and was NOT a witness to Him, so did NOT meet the essential requirements to be one. Matthias was chosen to replace Judas Paul also has no witness to verify the alleged encounter in the desert of which Jesus, Himself, warns us ie. false christs appearing in the desert. Matt 24 v 5 , v 26 and John 5 v 43 ! Jesus had said that no man would see Him again because He was returning to the Father..yet Paul is self-proclaimed and says he met Jesus and was the last to see Him. 1 Cor 9 v 1 and ch 15 v 8. Luke 24 v 51 tells us otherwise. Between Genesis and Revelation are many texts which point to Paul as being an imposter and Acts ch 1 proves this to be true. Paul 's confusion has caused almost the whole church to follow him rather than Jesus, despite Jesus ' telling us that He, alone, is our Rabbi Matt ch 23 v 8 and 10..and that we should follow Him Paul contradicts Jesus over major issues eg the Sabbath and the law and grace etc ....far too much to write about here - but I would be pleased to add much much more !!!

You have to get the Kingdoms right. The Kingdom of heaven can suffer violence and the violent can take it by force see Matt 11:12. The Kingdom of God is entered by the new birth upon believing on Jesus Christ by the gospel revealed to Paul and it is found laid out in 1 Cor 15:1-4. Paul was BORN before his water baptism see 1 Cor 15:8. And Ananias called him BROTHER Saul in Acts 9:17 before water baptism in verse 18. There are no Christians in Acts 2. That term doesn 't even show up until Acts 11:26. Those saved before the gospel of the Grace of God were added to the Church because the N.T. had not been written and the mystery was not yet revealed to the apostle Paul. You can 't be saved by Acts 2:38 today. That 's the way to hell. You are saved by obeying the gospel found in 1 Cor 15:1-4. Rom 16:26 says its the OBEDIENCE OF FAITH. Rom 10:16 But they have not all OBEYED the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath BELIEVED our report?

From old testament times, God wanted us to love Him as much as He loved us. I love Deuteronomy 30:6. God was talking to the Israelites here but He also wants our hearts circumsized to love Him. I was looking up kingdom in my concordance and Jesus used the word malkuth probably since He spoke in Aramic, not Greek. The Greek word for kingdom is basileia. Jesus spoke of a radical transformation of our hearts spiritually after we became part of the kingdom after being saved. So amazing and beautiful! Acts 8:12. Although we weren 't disciples of Christ and walked with Him, isn 't it wonderful we have His Holy Word to read, study and learn! Praise God!

I wonder why Paul when retelling his story in Acts 22:16 said that he was told by Aninias to arise and be baptized, calling on His Jesus name? The kingdom is also synonymous with the church. We are added to the church, kingdom after we become Christians. Yes, we most certainly believe the whole Bible. Jacob is right when he says who were they talking to. The Jews who had been God 's chosen people needed to believe in Jesus as the Messiah and we are grafted in and become part of the Kingdom, church after becoming Christians. And of course the kingdom is spiritual. Colossians 1:12-15. We are spiritually one with Christ after obeying the gospel. Dwelling in our hearts through faith. Ephesians 3:17 and Ephesians 4:1-7

We we believe the whole bible but take in consideration to whom it is speaking. Before the cross is O.T. doctrine Heb 9:17. The verse you quoted said covet to PROPHESY. So according to that verse one should ardently want to prophesy. The speaking in tongues was needed at Corinth because Corinth see Acts 18:1 had lots of Jews see verse 2 and there was a synagoge beside the place where they were meeting and Jews require a sign 1 Cor 1:22 and tongues are for a SIGN 1 Cor 14:22. Those are verses in their context. Mark 16 and Acts 2 has baptism associated with salvation because it is the Kingdom gospel being preached by a man names Simon Peter who didn 't even know of the body of Christ mystery. This was revealed to the Apostle Paul Eph 3:1-9. They said what must WE do in Acts 2. This is as a Nation because the KINGDOM is being offered to the JEWISH NATION see Acts 3:19, Rom 11:26-29, Heb 8:8-12, Jer 31:33-34, 33:8,50:20, Dan 9:24. No one is saved like Acts 2:38 again. Acts 16:31 shows how an individual is saved. What must I do to be SAVED? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and THOU SHALT BE SAVED.
  • Bill on Acts 1:3 - 10 years ago
In His final forty days on earth before ascending to heaven, Jesus spoke to His disciples of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God Acts 1:3 . His future Messianic kingdom on earth was the burden of His heart from the very start of His public ministry repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand and it was on His heart to the very end. Yet, His focus was not merely on the fact of the millennial kingdom or the nature of it. Much had already been said by the Old Testament prophets concerning the coming kingdom. Repeatedly, through the synoptic gospels, we find Jesus honing in on the requirements for living the kingdom way of life here and now, which then qualifies one to inherit the coming millennial kingdom.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
Whether or not a person believes, speaking in tongues is right. If it were not so then God would not have let it be written in the Bible. A question was asked on the day of Pentecost and an answer was given by Peter, Acts 2. There are examples in the Bible. I have not read anywhere where Jesus stated that baptism alone saves you. I have not read anywhere where Jesus stated that all you need is to be baptized and you are saved. What I have read is where Jesus stated that you must be born again of water and of spirit in order to enter and see into the kingdom of God. In regard to Paul, 1 Corinthians 14: 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and FORBID not to speak with tongues. These tongues he is referring to is the evidence that a person has when they are filled with the Holy Ghost. The word covet means to want ardently esp. something that another person has . If I can say it like this, Paul was saying to us and the Corinthian church that we should want this gift and evidence of speaking in tongues. In the end, do we throw away part of the Bible or do we believe the whole Bible?
  • Joni G on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
The Bible plainly says if one believes in Christ and is baptized they will be saved. Jesus said that. He said it that settles it. We have the priviledge of seeing, reading the birth of the church in the Acts of the Apostles. The prophecy of Joel was fulfilled that Pentecost day. Peter says it was in Acts 2. When the last of the people died out, that had hands laid on them, so did the tongues, so please don 't respond to me anymore about this. Read 1 Corinthians 14. There were other gifts. I believe the Bible, not people. So many people argue about which spiritual church is right and that is wrong. People are not rightly dividing the truth. It is not wrong to speak the truth but it seems most all think they have the market on truth. Jesus and His words only have the truth. God is our final judge and how we handled His Word.
