No mistake there. Jesus is STANDING at the right hand of the Father in vers 55 when he was sitting see Acts 2 34. The church age was a mystery revealed to Paul see Gal 1 11thru12 and Eph 3 3. Jesus could have came back in Acts 7 if they would have received Stephens message. After their rejection, God goes to the Gentiles and saved Paul to be their apostle Acts 9 15. He revealed this switch to Peter in Acts 10 and he agreed with Paul in Acts 15 6thru11. Now if you preach the gospel of the Kingdom and not of the grace of God you are preaching a false gospel for this church age and are cursed Gal 1 8thru9.

Hello James I think you are mistaken, in reference to Acts Chapter 7. Stephen was a saint of God holding up the belief in Jesus Christ. Stephen was full of the Holy Ghost, Acts 6 5. Acts Chapter 7, Stephen was brought into the courts falsely accused of blasphemy. This chapter is dedicated to Stephen defense, recounts of the Old Testament before the Sanhedrin and for the belief in Christ. He was later stoned to death. We know that some Jews mostly those hypocrites of the higher order of the Jews did reject Christ. However, the Apostles were Jews. The first Gentiles that were filled with the Holy Ghost were Cornelius and his house, Acts Chapter 10.

Part 2. The Jews require a sign see 1 Cor 1 22 so tongues are given in chapters 2, 10, 19 to confirm to the Jews that Gentiles are able to get saved see Acts 10 45. Signs of an Apostle see 2 Cor 12 12 were given before the scriptures were completed to confirm Gods word See Mark 16 20. Once the words were given the signs died out see 1 Tim 5 23, 2 Tim 4 20 for examples. If you dont get this you will be deceived by the devil 2 Thess 2 9, Rev 13 12thru15. Hope this helps.
  • James on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
Acts is a transitional book. Follow Pauline doctrine for the chruch age saints. He is the apostle to the Gentiles. See Romans 11 13, 15 16,16 24, 1Tim 2 7, 2Tim 1 1, 2Tim 2 7. The Jews turned down the kingdom offered to them and the Lord forgave them Luke 23 34. Up to Acts 7 they are having the literal physical kindgdom offered again Acts 1 6. Thats why Jesus name babtism in Acts 2. They turn it down in Acts 7 and the transition goes to the Gentiles under the grace of God.

Hello Betty James 2 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. If a person just confess with their mouth and have not followed what Peter stated on the day of Pentecost Act 2 38, they are not saved. You must be born of water and spirit in order to get into heaven, John 3 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God . You have to have both, the water and the Spirit which is the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God give utterance. You have to have the correct baptism. Jesus said it, Peter clarified it and the Apostles carried it out. The preacher must say over you that I will now baptized you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Try to find a Holy Ghost filled church that follows Acts 2 38.

So, after receiving Jesus as our Savior and redeemer, is it required to have a baptism or are we baptised with the Holy Ghost and not necessarily water?
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
Hello Bill I would like to also add that the correct baptism is more than an illustration it is a deed in which man all of mankind has to do under this Grace Age that we are living in. You have to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. The whole salvation plan must be done in order to make it into heaven.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
Hello Bill I like your analogy of the sponge soaking up the water into itself. After you have repented, true repentance, then God according to the promise will give you the gift of the Holy Ghost. God is the only one that can give this gift. He is the only one that knows who has truly repented in his heart. After we repent we are like sponges we take it all in when he gives the Holy Ghost to us with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God gives us utterance. In John 7 37 thru 39 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture, hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive for the Holy Ghost was yet given because that Jesus was not yet glorified.

Baptism is a matter of illustration. In our context of Acts 1 2, Jesus said, For John truly baptized with water but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost lit. the quality of the Spirit Acts 1 5 . Water baptism pictures Spirit baptism. When you believe in Jesus for salvation, Spirit baptism occurs as a matter of fact. Spirit baptism is immersion into Christ, thus clothing you with Christ Gal. 3 26 27 . The fact of this provision allows for the function of the life of faith disciples indeed that accesses the power of the Spirit. For example, when a sponge is immersed into water, it is inundated with the water as the water moves into the sponge. Likewise, when you were immersed into Christ, you were inundated with Christ as the Spirit of Christ moved into you. This gift is given at salvation so that you may take from this inexhaustible provision for the rest of your life. Water baptism illustrates this wonderful reality. That is why after Peter told his audience to Repent first event , and then be baptized second event on the basis of the forgiveness of sins, he also told them to receive lit. take the gift of the Holy Ghost Acts 2 38 .

Let me clarify when I say Mary has no power. She was filled with the Holy Ghost which is the power from Jesus Christ. This is the resurrection power of God that we need to get out of here. However, she has no power to forgive and stop people from going to hell. Only Jesus Christ and in his name can forgive sin and save people from hell. We are to worship him only. We are not to make graven images and worship them. There are a lot of images of Mary some of which people kneel down and pray to her.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
In the Catholic Order, Mary the mother of Jesus is their center character. They focus their belief around Mary. They pray to her to intercede on their behalf to Jesus. They pray to her for forgiveness. They say Hail Mary full of Grace for many reasons, none of which has anything to do with salvation or forgiveness. Mary has no power. She had to be in the upper room in order to receive the promise like everyone else, Acts Chapter 1 and 2. There is no salvation with her. The Bible states salvation comes through Jesus Christ name, Acts 4 12 Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved . If you read verse 10 11 of this same chapter you will find he is talking about Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ should be the focal point of faith, Ephesians 4 5 "One Lord, one faith, one baptism.

I believe that in this instant the CHURCH chose MAMMON over the Spirit of GOD, and used the maliciousness to choke the WORD. CHRIST went in the temple and turned over the tables of the money changers, and proclaimed his FATHERS HOUSE will be a house of prayer but they turned it into a den of thieves. the mantle of TRUE FAITH AWAS REJECTED for the gain of greed thru MONEY when they paid in fact to have the true riches of God, thru killing his Son and dspoilng the spoil. and thru money since all other revenue was in silver and gold made these men illuminated onto money of their own backed by their kingdom, inscription, and fame in their part of the EMPIRE. Thru money and religion the CHURCH is most powerful and has legions upon legions tasting of fornication.
  • MT on Acts 1:8 - 10 years ago
About 14years ago, I experienced the Holy Spirit not knowing the purpose of the Holy Spirit. Let me explain, I grew up a catholic, not reading the bible, and when the Holy Spirit came in a vision, I began speaking in tongues. I knew it was God and his language. I have always loved and believed in Jesus. Throughout that time, I felt God had greater things for me. So, I began to search for the TRUTH, the word of God. I have never heard that people could speak in tongues nor did I think it existed. Because of my lack of knowledge, I began to read the bible. I have then repented and was baptized, full submersion, in the name of Jesus and was able to receive the Holy Spirit again. I also felt that God wanted me to be in a church that fosters the Holy Spirit. Why? Put it this way... if your thirsty you 'll go where there 's water. Thank you Lord for your blessings!

In response of affirmation to Evangelist Chatauna Robinson 's Acts Chapter 1 comment on 9 12 2014, 9 03am.. True religion Bible based Christianity is always based on Father worship. Any religion with "mother " worship is harlot worship.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
In verses 13, 14, 15, you find all the people who were waiting in the upper room for the promise of the power of God which is the Holy Ghost. God had the writer write the names of those people. Why? The reason is so that no one would worship these individuals, especially Mary the mother of Jesus. God wanted everyone to know how important receiving the Holy Ghost was with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the spirit of God give them utterance. Some people pray to Mary. Why? Mary cannot save anybody or forgive sin. You do not have to go to her to get to Jesus Christ who is both Lord and Christ. Mary had to get the Holy Ghost just like everybody else. She carried Jesus Christ who is both Lord and Christ for nine months, but she still had to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost in order to go to heaven.

My previous comments about disobeying I would like to rescind. Mt Olivet is outside the walls of Jerusalem. The command to stay and then the verse that they returned is cause for question. If they were commanded on the mount to stay then they obeyed by returning and receiving the Holy Ghost.
  • Ian on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
If only they had waited they would have received the promise, they disobeyed. If they didn 't get the promise what did they get??? 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day 's journey.
  • Rachel on Acts 1:5 - 10 years ago
I don 't know why people insist on putting doubt in other 's minds. I endured a lot of unnecessary things because of this. If anyone wants the holy ghost to speak in tongues u can. I was one that believed that if God doesn't decide to bless me with it I 'll never get it because of what I had been told by so many people. I have come to the realization that people say speaking in tongues doesn't matter because they haven 't or it is not beneficial to their ministry to teach this hint hint . God would not keep something a great as the holy spirit away from certain individuals just because. Baptized is a verb something has to take place. So when the bible says baptized by water and spirit it 's not to be taken lightly. There was a differentiation between water and spirit. Please don 't let nay sayers block what Jesus has for you.
  • Ebenezer on Acts 1:8 - 10 years ago
De verse 8 simply talks about receiving power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you, so as to be a qualified candidate to preach the word of God to others. Thus, if anyone do not believe in the existence of the Holy Ghost I do not think dat fellow is qualified enough to preach to others about the gospel.
  • Prisca Ncube on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
It 's all about the holy spirit
  • Jimmy W Jacobs on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
I will be the first to say that I am no expert on the Holy Bible. However, I do confess that I am a born again believer filled with the Spirt THE HOLY GHOST . Washed clean by the blood of the Lamb of GOD He went to the cross for me paid my sin debt that I could go free. Specking of the number twelve Apostals one had to take judes ' place. judis fell from grace, and was numbered with the other eleven Apostals whom Jesus had chosen, first of all it was prophesied. please read Acts 1 20 26, and look at the number twelve, there is twelve months in a year ,and there are twelve tribes of the children of Jacobs, there are twelve foundations in heaven there are twelve gats to the city there are twelve thousand from each tribe that would add up to twelve times twelve would be one and fourty four thousand jews to preach the gospel in the last part of the great trublation

Any room store with treasures can not be let open, without locking it,power is God 's hidden treasure sent to believers, and it can only be open by one key, which is the Holy Ghost , that is why God gather the apostles in acts chapter 2 and impact them with the Holy Ghost and after them, this room was open Peter John were fruitful in chapter 3,4,5.........bcos d door of dis power was open.......
  • Ge on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
Lorenzo Simmons. The holy ghost is not the only way to the kingdom of heaven. There is only one way. John 14 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 16 15 All things that the Father hath are mine therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

JJ...Judas had indirectly purchased the field with blood money the 30 pieces of silver given to him to betray Jesus Christ . When he threw the blood money in front of the chief priests, they used it to buy the field called Aceldama the field of blood or "the potter 's field. " Matt. 27 5. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6. And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7. And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter 's field, to bury strangers in. 8. Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

  • Darrell on Acts 1 - 10 years ago
God has a tendency to work slow and mankind has a tendency to want fast So congregations made up of believers in many different stages of healing. We must be careful judging our brother 's and sisters levels of healing. This is a reason I avoid most congregations. I do understand and expect all God 's promises to be fulfilled and often we remain sorely afflicted which God uses to test the faith of our brothers and sisters many of whom prove their faith to be even weaker than mine at times! Granted that is our current un perfect battling dual nature. Rather than continuing to live in fear I am comforted that might use me to test the faith of others. I believe that water baptism is a proxy, a symbol for the covenant of belief. The baptism with fire will purge out remaining sin when it comes, which it will. Until then be comforted in the knowledge that all of the apostles sinned after their water baptism and several of them several times! The church and the congregation constantly stumble on this one largely unintentional and unaware of the stumbling block placed in the path of their brothers and sisters. Nobody is perfect yet FAITH reminds us that in the future we will be. Could be today. Could be tomorrow. Could be 2000 years from now. Peace comes with the knowledge that it WILL be.
