Jesus referred in John chapter 7 vs 37 38 39 about the coming baptism in the HS after His death He also mentioned it to Nicodemus in John CH 3 vs 5 In my humble opinion make a habit of praising the Lord when you are alone singing praising hymns thanking Him for what He has done in your life But praising is the key while working driving Remember it s a gift which you are entitled to receive after being baptized in water so demand it continuously praise Him continuously Don t ever take out of your mind that I even demanded it in my sleep and suddenly the blessing of praying in tongues will come Tell the Lord boldly that you will not stop until you receive it and you will I will pray for you too Be blessed

To Mark to Fred The Bible teaches by direct command example and implication Your comments on Acts 1 Yes Judas threw the money on the floor But by implication he picked it up and bought the field There are many places in the KJV that conflict but can be explained One is when Jesus the Christ told Peter that He would build His church But in Rev the translators put Churches where they could have put congregations of the church Jesus did not say churches

the Son of Man(Jesus Christ) was the only one who ascended to Heaven, after His earthly ministry, and of course he ascended because he first came down from heaven during his birth.when he was born by the Holy Spirit of God..( Acts 1:9-11;3:15-21; Heb. 1:3;8:1; Psalm 110:1,2)
  • Kwame Tawiah on Acts 1:14 - 11 years ago
The account of Acts 1:14 has nothing to do with rosary. Mary praying with the disciples of Jesus upon waiting for the Holy Ghost does not mean we should make any image of Mary to pray through it.The disciples were not praying through Mary, but Mary was rather praying with them.Jesus said ''..whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name,He shall give it you'' John 16:23 KJV.Christ is the ONLY root through which we can pray to the father.NOT ROSARY.

Matthew 28:19 Jesus was no glorify yet at this time. For that reason His Name was not to be proclaimed yet.
Peter and the others did not understand the meaning of the power of His Name until they received Power when they received the Holy Ghost. Acts 1:5,7,8. Then; it was for them to proclaim His Name unto the world. Acts 2:38
  • Thy word is truth on Acts 1:8 - 11 years ago
IN verse 8 this is what happens when someone gets the Holy Ghost, "ye shall be witnesses unto me ". The Holy Ghost will glorify Jesus ( Jn 16:14 ), not brag on himself and use a sinner to pray in publick to be seen of men ( Matt 6:5).
  • Udoh John on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
People should prayerfully study the word of God and get the right interprtation from the Holy Ghost so as not to add nor subtract from it and incure the wrath of God. How can that person said that the prayer meeting that the apostles had before the Holy Ghost came they used rossory? I was once a catholic. I want you to know that everything they do there is base on the tradition of man. Therefore my friend, repent and believe on Jesus. The Mary catholic worship is a very strong religious spirit. Mary the mother of Jesus did not teach people to disobey her creator - Jesus. In the wedding in Cana, she told her disciples "Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it ". Act 2:5.

Chapter 1.Jesus Christ shared himself as the New body that all shall have as believers, the work of the personage of the Holy Ghost is manifested and revealed in the appearance of the last Office spoken of in the Scriptures clearly and plainly. The entire chapter expressed that Jesus is Fully God and he was Fully the Son of (man)God himself. Giving plain instructions from his Father to the Disciples along with the Women, by the working power of the Holy Ghost to go and wait in Jerusalem, that they would see him with their eyes and hear with their ears this same power and that they would be witnesses of him. And that he would be with us always, for he was the LORD JESUS CHRIST (born of a virgin, hung, beaten and crucified, died and arose on the ) Third Day... Taken up to Glory in the presences of them all and His Two Angels declaring all that was written of Him as the Son of the Living God,The Christ his Messiah..

    Fred,
Matthew 27:3-5 clearly states that Judas hanged himself. But here in Acts 1:18 there seems to be a contradiction. However, when you read both accounts more completely, you will realize they do not contradict each other at all. Matthew states Judas hanged himself and the book of Acts isn’t suggesting that he didn’t. When Luke (the author of Acts) states that Judas fell headlong and burst asunder in the midst, he isn’t stating that’s how Judas died. The consensus among Bible scholars was that Judas split open after falling from the tree or post that he hanged himself from. Perhaps the tree was near a precipice or after he had hanged himself his rotting body eventually fell and burst open where it landed. The Lord only knows. I believe because it was common knowledge that Judas had hanged himself, Luke didn’t feel the need to mention it here in Acts 1:18. Instead he placed emphasis on how his body had burst asunder in this particular field because he was trying to show how this act had fulfilled scripture from the Psalms, not how Judas had died. (See Psalm 69:25, Psalm 109:8) and ( Zechariah 11:12-13)

    @Rosalina (great discussions!!}
Ithink you are forgetting about the "laying on of hands"needed for authority to preach?
Deut 34:9, "And Joshua, the son of Nun was full of the Spirit of Wisdom; for Moses had LAID HIS HANDS UPON HIM: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and he did as the Lord commanded Moses."
Acts 6:6, "These they set before the apostles, and after they had prayed they LAID THEIR HANDS UPON THEM".
Acts 9:17, "...and LAYING HIS HANDS UPON HIM, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord has sent me"
Acts 8:17, "Then they LAID THEIR HANDS ON THEM and they received the Holy Spirit."
Acts 13:3, "Then having fasted and prayed and LAID THEIR HANDS UPON THEM, they let them go."
2Tim 1:6, "For this reason I admonish thee to stir up the grace of GOD which is in thee, BY THE LAYING ON OF MY HANDS."
1Ti,m 4:14 "Do not neglect the grace that is in thee, granted to thee by reason of prophecy with the LAYING ON OF HANDS of the presbyterate." [PRIESTS]
Acts 1:20 For it is written in the book of Psalms: Let their habitation become desolate, and let there be none to dwell therein. And his bishopric let another take.
This same rite was practiced in the early Church and continues to this day, The Bishop, by the 'LAYING ON OF HANDS', conveys a succession of Priests and Bishops with a commission, giving them the authority to perpetuate the Church which Jesus Christ founded. Apostalic Succession & only one Church can lay claim to it. The Catholic Church

My respond to A.B.C. RICHARD SON's Acts Chapter 1 comment about verse 2 on 9/06/2013, 10:24pm: The called to perform or achieve for the Almighty were the twelve apostles whom Our Lord Jesus Christ had first chosen. Since one of them fell by transgression and that was Judas, the eleven asked God to show them who among Joseph and Matthias would He choose to do the ministry with them. After the eleven apostles gave forth their lots, the lot fell upon Matthias. Therefore it was Matthias whom God has numbered with the eleven apostles.
