    What strikes me is Verse;14 'These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication,'
    The missing condition, all too often in modern meetings.

    The apostles used democracy to choose Mathias to replace Judas. God is not a democrat. All the prepositions in the definition of democracy (of,by & for the people) lack GOD. Nothing was recorded of Mathias, God later chose sb on the way to Damascus. Paul. God's foolishness is wiser than men & His weakness is stronger than men.

    Is is written that as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are sons of God. Judas Iscariotes even being one of the twelve, he did not love the Lord Jesus Christ, he was a thief and he did not repent for that; on the contrary he rebuked Mary for pouring the precious oilment on Jesus feet, pretending he was concerned with the poor people, but he wanted it to be sold so as he had the bag money he could steal it. Judas from the beginning become greedy and his covetousness opened the door of his soul to Satan's schemes. He finally took Satan's agenda when he found a way to profit cooperating with jewish religious authorities to set him up and arrest him without turmoil.After Jesus' ressurrection the twelve had to choose anothe disciple to replace Judas and the scripture is clear to affirm that Judas lost himself and went to hell ( Acts 1:25).

    Isaiah 9:6 tells us who Jesus really is. He is the Son, Father and God. Jesus is the name you should be baptized in.( Acts 2:38,19:5,10:48,8:37-38)( 2 Cor 3:1) Out of the mouths of two or three shall the word of God be established. Many times did the scriptures say Jesus name baptism but only once did it sayin the name of Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost( Matthew 28:19) If you put them all together you get the name and that is Jesus. ( Luke 24:47) tells where and what name should remissions of sins and repentence should be preached. Matt, Mark, Luke and John are the books that tell of Jesus's birth, life ,death and resurrection and the resurrection begins in the book of acts and is the beginning of the Church. Jesus gave Peter the authority to speak on the day of pentecost in St John(21:15-17)( Acts 1:2) as well as the first chapter of Acts, whom Jesus chose the apostles.
    People try to say well who told the apostles to go and baptize in Matthew 28:19? Jesus of course, I agree but who stopped Saul/Paul on the way to Damascus? The same Jesus? YES! Paul baptized in what way and name? Jesus.( Acts 19:5) No other name( Acts 4:12) as well as One Lord, One Faith and one Baptism ( eph 4:5) People will jump over the book of Acts because of what ever reason. Acts opens up the name. If you don't believe me see what is done in Jesus name in the book of Acts. Do a study but before you do it pray to Jesus and ask for wisdom.

    Jesus Bless
  • Mark on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
    Maybe a coincidence

    John 3,16
    Talks about whosoever believes in him

    Acts 3,16
    Talks about his name through faith in his name

    The two 3,16s maybe a coincidence

    If you remember John 3,16 also remember Acts 3,16 it explains how it works, and that is by faith in his name
  • Mark on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
    In the name of Jesus does NOT mean in the "family" of Jesus,

    In Acts 3,16 Peter the Apostle clearly states that, his name (what is his name? Jesus) through faith in his name,

    He also states that it was the crippled mans own individual faith by which he was healed,

    Not by Peter's power or holiness or of those with him, Acts 3,12
  • Mark on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
    Read John 3,16
    Read Acts 11, 17-18
    Peter the Apostle admitted,
    Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

    Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

    We do not have to be baptized with water to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, We need to believe, We do not have to have an "Apostle" to administer the baptism of the Holy Ghost, We need to believe,

    Read Acts 3,12-16
    Peter himself (the Apostle) admitted that it was not through his own power or holiness that made the man walk,
    and admitted,
    And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
    We need to believe,

    You can receive the holy spirit after baptism without consulting any Apostle. According to the book of Acts, salvation is for all. How can you know that this Apostle is from God; so people should be careful with how they struggle for the holy spirit. We should seek God first, and His kingdom. The disciples prayed and received the holy spirit; so you can fast and pray and then you will be filled with the holy spirit.

  • Elvis on Mark 16 - 11 years ago
    @Saleem,
    We have two kinds of baptism:
    1. Baptism of water (which is the first after people have received the word);
    2. Baptism of the holy spirit. I want say it clear that all believers must be baptized of water and of holy spirit. If you are only baptized of water (that is not enough) read Acts 1:5, Acts 19:1-6, and Acts 2. Some people think by praying for themselves they can be baptized of the holy ghost, NO . One needs to be laid hands on the head by the apostles, then will he/she be baptized. As same applies when one person is baptized of water, no one goes to the river by himself and deep himself in water, then comes out and say I am baptized, no. But one needs an authorized person/pastor to deep him/her in water and get baptized. Also in baptism of the holy ghost, only the apostles today can baptize people of the holy spirit. AND MANY PEOPLE TODAY ARE BAPTIZED OF WATER, I Thank God for the baptism of the holy spirit offered to him by his apostles and I pray that all people could be baptized.

    If baptism isn't important to be saved then why does Christ say it is so often in the scriptures? Because it is very important.

    One thing that stands out in the commentary on the book of Acts here is that Acts is the start of the church and the infilling of the holy spirit. The church started with miracles, sign and wonders, and that continues on to today. As people were filled with the holy spirit on the day of Pentecost they spoke in languages of the holy spirit speaking in tongues. 3 times this is mentioned throughout the book of Acts, this is truly the sign that the holy spirit is with you. To fully understand the scriptures, this is the key. God bless.

    Today, many people and the pastors are only baptized of water. We have 2 kinds of baptism which all Christians must be baptized with:
    1. Is the baptism of water (which is the first to receive after you have accepted the word);
    2. The baptism of the Holy Spirit (which is the second one after you are baptized of water); read Acts 1:5; read again Acts 19:2. Paul asks some Christians if they are baptized of the holy spirit, and their answer was NO, we are not and we don’t even know about that kind of baptism (they only know the one of water). He baptized them (NOTE: it is the apostle who does this and his name is Paul). Acts 8:16, when they heard that the Samaritans have accepted the word, they sent the apostle to that country, none of them has received the holy spirit, though they accepted the word. And they were then baptized of the holy spirit by the apostles. Acts 8:18, Simon the witch saw that by being laid on the hands by the apostles, the holy spirit was received he then wanted to buy it with money. Guys my concern and I pray that people must meet the apostles in order to receive the holy spirit. You can be baptized with water by almost every pastor but when it comes to the baptism of the holy spirit you need to meet the apostles for this task. Once you are only baptized with water, that’s not enough, even if you are a pastor or a leader in the church you need to be baptized with the holy spirit. People think that by reading a bible or by praying for yourself you can be baptized with the holy spirit. NO. if you think so, why when you need to be baptized by water you call the pastor to baptize you? WHY don’t u just pray and Deep yourself by yourself in water. But instead you need someone to deep you in water and baptize you. Same Rules applies to the baptism of the holy spirit. You need to get an authorized person (AND THAT IS THE APOSTLES ONLY) to baptize you. Please try to look for the apostles they will help you free. I thank God for is grace that he showed me. Today I am baptized of both water and the holy spirit. I pray that you meet the apostles. We are going house by house preaching the word and those who accept us, are getting help. They have built the church of God in me. Their Role is great. May God be with you, until you receive this power that I am talking about. Lots of pastors from different churches today have come to the apostles to be baptized.

  • Louieg on Acts 1 - 12 years ago
    The book of Acts is actually the beginning of the church administration. as prior to this throughout the Old Testament and the Gospels it was only available to have the spirit upon you. In Romans 15:4 it says that for whatsoever things were written afore-time were written for our learning and these are great, great learning tools, but when Jesus Christ died for our sins and was ascended into heaven, then and only then was it available to be born again and have the spirit of Christ in you. Romans 10:9,10 is the key to being born again and God made it so easy, but people try to work their way to heaven and they miss the simplicity of how easy God made it available to us.

    @Lukmon Onimama,
    Gospels stories do support each others, in that they are completing each others, they are enriching each others. They cannot be exactly identical, we will have useless repetition. So differences are aimed at completing each others.
    God bless you.

    These rumours confirm the bible as the absolute word of GOD, YES he is out of the heavenly Doors, he is surely coming back again. BUT WHEN? Psalms 119:89, Acts 1:7, Mathew 24:43-47 and...... In a twinkling of an eye.
