For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

    John 3:20

Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

    Matthew 3:12

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

    Acts 2:3

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    Acts 2:4

For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.

    Hebrews 13:11

Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

    Hebrews 13:12

And straightway coming up oit of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

    Mark 1:10

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

    Hebrews 10:22

And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

    Luke 22:10

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

    1 Peter 3:20

And John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.

    John 3:23

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

    Acts 1:4-5

And Phillip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

    Mark 8:37

But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

    Matthew 13:16

Then Peter said into them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

    Acts 2:38

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

    John 6:38

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

    Matthew 3:17

And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.

    Genesis 17:11

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of God.

    Romans 10:17

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

    Colossians 2:11-12

Know ye not, that so many of us were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

    Romans 6:3

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the likeness of his resurrection:

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Thank you Tim. But I don't believe that "everything closed at the end of the apostolic age", only the position of apostles (defined by certain criteria) & the presentation of prophecy. Or else, one would have to disregard Revelation 22:18,19, "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

And let's face it, the Revelation is generally acknowledged as the final set of prophecies for the close of this age & ushering in of the new. I'm unsure which 'prophet', since John's prophetical vision, can add to that Book - some of course have tried, whether prophesying events, dates, etc., & all have proved false. At most, self-acclaimed prophets can make a hit-and-miss forecast, a little like clairvoyants of today. A prophecy from God must be true in every respect, or else it's false. If a brother brings forth a prophecy that is already declared in God's Word, it's not prophetical, but instructional, whether as a warning or an exhortation. We must not convert prophetical utterances found in the Scriptures to mean something else today - this is false & misleading.
  • Tim - In Reply on Acts 2 - 3 years ago
Cessationism is a false doctrine, please read Matthew 13:31-32 Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven

To Say everything closed at the end of the apostolic age would mean that salvation is also closed

Your statement has is not in harmony

Number 23:19 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

    Part I

1Co 12:13 Is there Only 'ONE' ( Eph 4:5 ) Baptism, Today, Under God's Pure GRACE?

Precious friends, 'water' seems to be Getting More 'Confusing' by the day; ie:

One asks "why does most of the Christian world ignore Acts 2:38?" Answer?: Most Do Not 'ignore' it, But Do take it Out of Context, Change it, and Misinterpret it, and Misapply it, causing 'Confusion.'

Another to an noncommited saint: "I was baptized twice. No one ever said you can't be baptized more than once and continually recommit yourself to being a follower of Jesus Christ. Some people do this in marriage as well and I see value in it.

It's possible you have already done this, but since you didn't mention it, and since you said this has bothered you for 48 years, if you have still doubts and regret about your past actions why not recommit today and be baptized again?"

It's ok for babes In CHRIST to have this 'Confusion' as I have been there, being 'watered' THREE times. Further, IF we 'backslide,' there is No 'recommitment' with a second 'washing,'

{since water is not for us in Part II}, But, in Committing Anew Daily by "presenting our bodies a living sacrifice" to The LORD! Amen? Rom 12:1-2

Further, As CHRIST Only "Died On The Cross 'Once,' when we 'believe Once,' we are "Forgiven All sins 'Once,' And, By The 'ONE' Baptism By The Spirit Is Only Done "Once,"

Placing/Inducting/Transferring us Into The Body Of CHRIST, For Eternity!! Amen?

See More "ONE"s For God's "Revelation Of HIS Mystery" as we, hopefully, all "Endeavour to keep the Unity Of The Spirit In The Bond Of Peace!" in Eph 4:3-6

Sad to say that this Unity/Peace is Not Found In the division and strife in "traditions of denominations" today, Correct? Is not JESUS "Also sad" about this? 1Co 1:9-10

Praise God For HIS Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided 2Ti 2:15, Which Cancelled All of my 'Confusion' about "water, tongues, healings, miracles, end times, etc." Amen?

to be continued in Part II

    Part II

1 Corinthians 12:13 God's ONE Baptism for The Body Of CHRIST, Under GRACE/Mystery:

Precious friends, Please Be Encouraged/Edified in This Important "study" of three baptisms:

God's Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided, 'Shows water' is NOT Under God's GRACE, Today:

    1) Prophecy/Law for ISRAEL: The Twelve Were Sent to water baptize!

The TWO Main, of 12 baptisms =

    A) water, For remission of sins/induction into Israeli "priesthood!" {separate "study" if you wish...} Mat 3:5-6 Mrk 1:4 Luk 3:3 John 1:31 Luk 7:29-30 Acts 10:37 Mat 28:19

    Mrk 16:16 Acts 2:38 Acts 22:16 Eze 36:25 John 18:35 Exo 19:6 +

    B) WITH The Holy Spirit, Poured Out By CHRIST, for power, signs And wonders! Isa 44:3 Mat 3:11 Mark 1:8 Mark 16:17-18 Luke 24:49 Acts 2:17-18 Acts 2:38 Acts 8:15-17 Acts 11:16

    Prophecy/Law

Rightly Divided 2Ti 2:15 From Things That Differ!:

    2) Mystery/GRACE! = our "apostle to the Gentiles" for The Body Of CHRIST:

Paul Was Not Sent to {water} baptize! Why Not?:

Today: 'Only ONE' Baptism = "BY" The ONE Spirit = God's OPERATION, Spiritually Identifying members In The ONE Body Of CHRIST!! Eph 4:5 Col 2:12 Gal 3:27 Rom 6:3-4

    1Co 12:13

    --------------------------------------------------

Thus, This ONE Baptism Is Performed, By God, Today, Under God's GRACE/MYSTERY Program, when the sinner "believes in CHRIST, that He died and rose again, and God saves them" in the twinkling of an eye.

Thus, "water baptism" Is Scriptural, But Dispensationally, "was for the Previous Law/Prophecy Program" of God, For ISRAEL!

Conclusion, water baptism is Scriptural, but, TODAY, is UNdispensational! Amen?

Precious friends, Please be Richly Encouraged, enlightened, exhorted, and edified!"

    2Ti 2:15 Rom 16:25 Eph 1:3-9 Eph 3:9 = Grace/Mystery 'fellowship,' for All to "See," today?

It says "And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father."

But ACTS 2:21 I believe says anyone who professes that I am Lord will be saved.

Not saying the Bible is a lie. But slightly confused by these two. One says anyone who says Me is saved. Then other says Only Lord calls His children.

    Help?
  • Chris - In Reply on Acts 2 - 3 years ago
Yes Hope, I would agree with what you've shared there. But I see that Jesus also gave some believers to be "evangelists, pastors, & teachers" ( Ephesians 4:11). The apostolic period & the day of prophetical utterances had finished with the close of The Revelation, but the Church still has others so equipped by the Spirit to carry forward that Word, to teach & evangelize what the apostles & prophets first delivered to us.

There have been many prophets as you would know (mostly self-acclaimed in the cults), & we see the worth of their prophecies. Of the prophecies I've heard today, there has been no more given than what a teacher of God's Word shares under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Have you heard anything that has already not been declared? Bless you, sister.

Hi Hope A lot of individuals do not believe in S.I.T. I have been for 45 years there is biblically 12 things it does for the believer, the reason most don't believe in it are the totally out of order examples they've seen but that doesn't take away from the reality that it is still available to do.
  • Hope - In Reply on Acts 2 - 3 years ago
You're welcome, but do you realize though that each apostle preached to each person and the message lives on through them. Plus, when you speak in tongues, that is the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is God living inside of us, and He continues to lead us, and guide us, and shape us into what He wants us to be. I just thought I would add that little bit. I hope it won't offend you.

Alex: I would suggest to you that the Book of Acts is a progressive revelation. I submit that "remission" and "redemption" are not the same thing. Peter was still preaching the "gospel of the kingdom" ( Matt. 9:35) to Israel in Acts 2 as the door was still open for them to accept their Messiah. That door remained open till they stoned Stephen in Acts 7. Peter never preached Acts 2:38 again for the rest of his life since Israel, as a nation, had rejected Christ as their Messiah. Notice Peter's statement in Acts 15:11. By this time, Peter is preaching salvation by faith alone because Israel had been put aside for 2k years. Notice, in Acts 10:44, just as Peter is about to tell Cornelius to repent and be baptized, the HG comes down and interrupts his message and changes his sermon outline! Cornelius and family were saved by FAITH -- not water baptism. There are 3 different saving gospels in the New Testament: 1 The "gospel of the kingdom" offering Israel their Messiah, 2. After Israel rejects their Messiah, God raises up Paul and gives him "the gospel of the grace of God" ( Acts 20:24, this is the gospel that saves us today, and 3. "The everlasting gospel" ( Rev. 14:6-7) preached by an angel in the tribulation. Salvation in the tribulation is by FAITH and WORKS just as it was in the Old Testament. While the church is on earth, salvation is a free gift. "now [this age of grace that will end at the rapture] is the day of salvation" 2 Cor. 6:2.
  • Chris - In Reply on Acts 2 - 3 years ago
Thank you Hope. Here again, I would have a problem, as I don't believe in an apostolic appointment in the present-day Church. The apostles of Christ were there for a limited time, as appointed by the Lord, & that appointment was completed at the giving of the final Revelation. Both apostles & prophets, in the biblical sense, have ceased, as nothing more can be added to God's Word. So actually I would be very uncomfortable & wary of any Fellowship that entertains such positions. Thank you for your concern, sister.

Jesus spoke in John 3:3-5 that we must be born of water & the Spirit to enter into the kingdom of God. This is fulfilled in the book of Acts 2:38. It is the New Testament salvation. Peter was given the keys to the kingdom of heaven by Jesus Christ. John the Baptist baptized unto repentance. Peter said to repent & be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. And here's Luke 24:47: "And that repentance & remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem". Water baptism is all through the Bible. Noahs

ark was a type of baptism. The parting of the Red sea was a type of baptism. It's in the Bible & it's God's word. Amen to Darryl King. I've obeyed Acts 2:38. Amen

Jesus Christ sent Paul ( Acts 9:15) to preach about his name. Jesus Christ

means in Hebrew "Jehovah is Salvation" ( John 3:16,17; Psalm 83:18)

so Paul was taking the lead and many other qualified men were appointed

to lead the congregations or "Churches KJV". 1 Timothy 3

According to Acts 2 man and woman fulfilled the prophecy at Joel 2:28

during a day of Pentecost ( Acts 2:16-18). All were filled with the holy spirit ( john 4:24)

were all at the same time speaking in tongues. (multitudes heard in his own language

    Acts 2:1,3,6)

Paul was maybe trying to explain that the congregation is not that event.( 1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

that they must speak or prophecy one at a time. to keep the congregation in order. 1Corinthians 14:33.

However, because a man is the head of his wife. a wife remains silent in the congregation ( 1Tim. 2:12).

if she wants to ask a question about something. she should not become authoritative within

the congregation or church (if she doesn't understand something, she should go to her husband).

    1 Corinthians 14:35

    Ephesians 5:21-24

if someone is single. then the head would be Jesus Christ because he is the head of the man (Jesus Christ has appointed qualified men to shepherd the congregation John 21:17. if a woman is single or not married, she can

go to the one taking the lead, and they can pray for her.

    James 5:14-16

    1 Samuel 1:9-18; Luke 10:38-42;

    Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 3

    Regarding woman and head covering, according to 1 Corinthians 11:5,8;

if her husband is present, she covers her head if she is preaching or praying.

if her husband is not present and she preaches and prophecies or prays to God,

then she should cover her head as a sign of authority because of the angels.

this is what the scripture says. I can't tell you anything other

    1 Corinthians 11:2-3;8-10; 1Tim. 2:12

1 Corinthians 11:1,2,16 "keeping the order as delivered to them"

"we have no custom of being contentious about"

Hello Hope. Your task is not impossible, though I've never tried to memorize large chunks of Scripture. The old adage, "Repetition is the mother of learning", seems appropriate here as well as to those at lower school levels learning answers by rote.

Some have tried using various means such as forming pictures in the mind or specific clues to take them to the next verse(s), but I would think that the old fashioned 'repetition' starting from verse 1, repeating it until it is fully formed in your mind, is best. Then when you get to verse 2, learn that fully but at the end of your session, do several exercises on both verses 1 & 2. And move on in that way with the other verses, always going back to repeating from verse 1. But December 20 is not too far away & 47 verses will be quite a feat, so start today. Wishing you every success.

Part 1 OR: Baptism Of Repentance for the remission of sins?

Precious friend, Of course the 'Confusion lies in interpreting/Changing Isolated' verses, and Ignoring the Whole Of Scripture, and, Also in Not "Rightly Dividing God's Word Of Truth, 'Approved' Unto Him! 2 Timothy 2:15

You have an opinion: "Imo, Acts 2:38 would have been much better understood, and served God and the world better if it were interpreted as:

'Then Peter said unto them, Repent for the remission of sins, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.'"

Now, this 'interpretation/CHANGE opinion' presents The 'Same problem As Changing' God's Plain Word in Mark 16:16 :

"He that believeth AND is baptized shall be saved"

There is NO NEED to "interpret/CHANGE" God's Plain and Clear Word. When, 'Left in its Context,' IT "Stands As IT IS WRITTEN!" This is Also CONFIRMED in Luke 7:29-30!

Full study in Part II will further 'Confirm' This, According To The Word Of God, Rightly Divided!

Please Be 'Richly' Encouraged, Enlightened, Exhorted, And Edified In JESUS CHRIST, And, In HIS Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided!!

    Dear Hope,

Yes, you are correct about water baptism according to Jesus.

We should believe in what Jesus states in scripture below:

    John 3:5

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Note: Don't let men confuse you, always test the scripture by comparing what Jesus tells us. The only way to God is through Jesus.

    John 14:6

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Many today will turn their back on Jesus, and preach another Gospel that differs from what Jesus taught. They will say many things to try to convince you to turn your back on Jesus and God.

If the gospel or scripture, or man's word's don't match what Jesus says in scripture, it really means nothing. Jesus will be our Judge and he will make the decision on whom enters the Kingdom.

    Revelation 22:12-14

12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

    God Bless.

Part II OR: Baptism Of Repentance For The Remission Of sins?:

God's Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided, 'Shows water' is NOT Under God's GRACE, Today:

    (1) Prophecy/Law for ISRAEL: The Twelve 'Were Sent' to water baptize!

The TWO Main, of 12 baptisms =

    A) water, For remission of sins/induction into Israeli "priesthood!" {separate "study" IF you wish...} ( Matthew 3:5-6 Mark 1:4 Luke 3:3 John 1:31 Luke 7:29-30 Acts 10:37 Matthew 28:19 Mark 16:16 Acts 2:38 Acts 22:16 Ezekiel 36:25 John 18:35 Exodus 19:6 ) +

    B) WITH The Holy Spirit, Poured Out By CHRIST, for power, signs And wonders! ( Isaiah 44:3 Matthew 3:11 Mark 1:8 Mark 16:17-18 Luke 24:49 Acts 2:17-18 Acts 2:38 Acts 8:15-17 Acts 11:16 )

    Prophecy/Law

Rightly Divided ( 2 Timothy 2:15 ) From Things That Differ!:

    (2) Mystery/GRACE! = our "apostle to the Gentiles" for The Body Of CHRIST:

Paul 'Was Not Sent' to {water} baptize! Why Not?:

Today: 'Only ONE' Baptism = "BY" The ONE Spirit = God's OPERATION, Spiritually Identifying members In (The ONE Body Of) CHRIST!! ( Ephesians 4:5 Colossians 2:12 Galatians 3:27 Romans 6:3-4 1 Corinthians 12:13 )

    --------------------------------------------------

Thus, This ONE Baptism Is Performed, By God, Today, Under God's GRACE/MYSTERY Program, when the believer "confesses Jesus as Lord and Savior and believes that He died and rose again, and God Saves them" in the twinkling of an eye.

Thus, "water baptism" Is Scriptural, But Dispensationally, "was for the Previous Law/Prophecy Program" of God, For ISRAEL!

Conclusion, water baptism is Scriptural, but, TODAY, is UNdispensational! Amen?
