Irene, The Court of the Gentiles was for "the Gentiles;" for there were many from all over the world that came up to Jerusalem, ever since the days of King Solomon. The Disciples at that time were not yet from among the Gentiles, but Jews, and were not assembling with the Gentiles. They did what was commonly done by all the people, gathering in groups; except THEY were filled with the Holy Spirit.

    V. 46 - The Bible doesn't say such, but there was a 'court of the Gentiles' that these Christians used at the Temple; it was an open roofed court, and in v. 47 they had Christians homes to worship in also. I read a lot of Bible history; it helps in understanding the Bible; I love biblical history.

Irene no difference of Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost
  • Irene123 on Titus 2 - 8 years ago
    V. 11 - the grace of bringeth - salvation ( Acts 2:38. THEN with grace, we are able to continue on in obeying His commandments, Jn.14:15. These commandments are in the Epistles (letters) following the Book of Acts. The epistles are to ALREADY established churches; they are instructions in righteous living for God. They are God's (Jesus) words given to the apostles, not mans words.

To be born again - one is born naturally as a physical body. To be born again is a spiritual birth. It happens when you follow Acts 2:38, (note v. 37 where, after Peter's very first message in Jesus new church, the people ask, " ... what must we do?"). Then, all the 'letters' after Acts are instructions to the new churches that have already followed Acts 2:28 on how to live a faithful life.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 28 - 8 years ago
The Lord just gave me an understanding of why Trinitarians WON'T (refuse) to believe in all the scriptures that proclaim - ONE GOD; in Acts 2:38 (baptized in the NAME of ... ) there are a LOT of things we are shown we must 'do' (Jas. ch. 2) to obey His commandments. People want to go their own way - and still live for God. God's not 'blind' to us.
  • Irene123 on Psalms 37 - 8 years ago
Heb. 13:5 - "be content with such things as ye have, for He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." For Him to never leave or forsake us - we need to be 'His' in the first place. Acts 2:37-38. "what must we do"? and then Peter told them. Hebrews was written AFTER the church began - to already saved saints. Everything after Acts was to already saved saints in churches.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 3 - 8 years ago
Jesus, as a baby, wasn't baptized because - NO babies are baptized in the Bible. A child has to be old enough to UNDERSTAND Acts 2:38. Peter said be baptized in the NAME of Jesus; Matt. 28:19 says the same thing - baptizing them in the NAME of; Jesus is the Father, and the son (flesh) and the Holy Ghost (Spirit). 1Tim. 3:16 - " ..... GOD was manifest (as the body of Jesus) in the flesh.
  • Irene123 on 2 Timothy 2 - 8 years ago
Acts 2:38 comes before 3:26; Matt. 28:19; Lk. 24:47 ( in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses) comes before Jn. 20:28 (My Lord AND My God); then Acts 2:38, 4:12; Rom.10:13, to 'call' on the name is when one is baptized using the name of (not titles) of Jesus.
  • Irene123 on Genesis 3 - 8 years ago
" ... it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel". The first "it" is Jesus, on the cross, sin (satan) put Him there. When Jesus said, "It is finished" and DIED - then Jesus bruised satan's head. Jesus then had the power to enter hell and get the KEYS. He then could give those keys to Peter (spiritually) when Peter preached Acts 2:38, the 3 keys to salvation.
  • Love for Truth on Acts 4 - 8 years ago
Amen Acts 4:12 through no other name can we obtain remission of our sins Acts 2:38 "be baptized everyone of U in the name if Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.
  • Irene123 on Ecclesiastes 12 - 8 years ago
    V. 13 - It is so simple, easy to live for God. We make it hard in our minds before coming to Him ( Acts 2:38) by looking at the worldly 'things' we have to give up; immodest dress, jewelry, make-up, tobacco, alcohol, cursing, our party wk'ends ( Heb. 10:25). None, NONE of this goes with us after death; it's all vanity. Matt. 6:23 - Seek ye first .....
  • Irene123 on Ezekiel 37 - 8 years ago
    V. 9 - " .....Prophesy unto the wind ..... "; Acts 2:2 - " ..... and there came a sound as of a mighty rushing wind ..... "
  • Irene123 on Leviticus 27 - 8 years ago
Tithing: One cannot judge their church on what it does with the tithe. Because, even if they give out yearly printed documents on what they have done - there's no way to know if that is what was done. The only criteria for judging the truth of a church is - Acts 2:38. This was the very beginning of Jesus' church. Very few 'churches' baptize in the name of Jesus.
  • Irene123 on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
Bud - Rom. 10:8-9 (Rom.1:7 "called to be saints"). The church in Rome was already established; Paul wasn't writing to sinners. Jesus' church was established in Acts ch. 2 ( Acts 2:37-38). The 'calling' and 'believing' were already done for these saints in Acts 2:38. Paul was just reminding them of this because he knew some were weak in their N.T. belief and were thinking about the O.T. law they had

To Wayne: I read Jn. 7:39; what was I s'posed to get out of it?
  • Wayne on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
Irene, read, if u will, John 7:39. Should help.
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
I am married to a non-submissive husband, and - it's not hard at all to love him because I loved him before I came to the Lord and since then He has put HIS love for my husband in my heart. That's one of His blessings He gives when we are filled with His spirit - Acts 2:38.

Moses, There is no contradiction with ANY Scriptures! It is important to understand the context of the Word, in order to discern what might otherwise sound different. Its not word games and its not some kind of secret code; but truth and intelligence in listening to what is said, in total. We cannot just take a favorite "verse" by itself to get the right meaning, without the whole of the teaching.
  • Moses on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
Here is the Name that denoted by Holy spirit through Apostle Peter exactly in Act 2:38, that means we need to take Baptism in the name of Lord Jesus Christ....But Anti- Christ dwell in the Church doctrine and preach to people to take Baptism as in Mathew 28:19 and it say it is God word....now we need listen that Mathew 28:19 is God word means what about Act 2:38....Don't tell it is word of Peter
  • Irene123 on 2 Timothy 4 - 8 years ago
Hi JoAnn - as to God fearing saints like Paul - I'm sure you've seen, as I have, several of them on here, and there's LOTS more out there- all around the world - baptized in Jesus name, filled with the H.G., Acts 2:38. I am assuming you are one of us ... ? If not please do not be offended toward me, as I will not be to you.
  • Irene123 on Luke 24 - 8 years ago
Vs. 47, 49 - These 2 vs. is exactly what happened 10 days after Jesus ascended; they tarried and prayed those 10 days and the spirit came on the breath of God (wind) and br'ot the Holy Ghost in tongues of fire. Then Peter opened the way of salvation with the keys of Acts 2:38 - repentance, baptism in Jesus name, filled with the Holy Ghost.
  • Irene123 on 2 Corinthians 13 - 8 years ago
    V. 7 - " ..... though we be as reprobates." This confused me at first, until I 'reasoned' it out. We who believe the truth of Jesus are 'reprobates' to the Jews (Pharisees, Sadducees, etc.), not reprobates to the truth. To the unbelieving Jews we have left the God of the O.T., but we haven't - Jehovah is Jesus of the N.T. The name Jehovah translates to Jesus, Acts 2:37-38, 4:12.
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
To Gary on salvation - Read Matt. 28:19, then Acts 2:37-38, then Acts 4:12; Philippians 2:9-10. In Matt. notice the word 'name'. Jesus Himself said this. Peter followed Jesus instructions in Acts 2:38, "baptized in the NAME." V. 37 they asked the brethren, "what shall we do?" Acts 4:12 says, "NONE other name." You're going to get LOTS of advice against these scriptures. Pray to Jesus of this.
  • Irene123 on Matthew 19 - 8 years ago
To disciple on 2/20 - It's still troubling you - the eye of the needle. It was just a comment on my part; has nothing to do with salvation ( Acts 2:37-38). Please, let the Lord put your mind at ease about - and go on with Him from faith to faith; God Bless you, disciple.
  • HD on John 3 - 8 years ago
JESUS answered andsaid unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he CANNOT SEE the kingdom of God. Vs5 Jesus answered, Except a man be born of WATER and of the Spirit, he CANNOT ENTER the Kingdom of God. Acts 2:38 Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. readMark16:16

To Will cont. - the reason god allowed children to be killed is very probably their parents would be gone and no one to raise them; and too those nations weren't God's people; He dealt only with Israel then. And too - your interest has nothing to do with what We should be concerned with - your own salvation - Acts 2:37-38. God BLESS you, Will ............
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
Eph. cont. - "No other epistle in the New testament expresses this truth more eloquently than Paul's epistle to the Ephesians." unquote. The grand, glorious, majesty of our Lord and savior!!! And He is sharing all of it with His saints, Jew and Gentile alike. We (us, we!!!) show forth His beautiful Glory as we obey ( Acts 2:37-38), and then live sinless lives for Him.
  • Irene123 on Genesis 7 - 8 years ago
You know, God didn't give us His Word to 'puzzle' through and try to figure out what it means - on our own. That's what His Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost, Acts 2:38) is for. We are to 'pray through' to receiving His guiding spirit to open up His Word to us. HE - wants to teach us His Holy Word; just like any teacher, high school, college, etc. They don't hand you a book and say - learn it yourself.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
Acts 2:4 - I've seen the question on here (on the comments back pgs.) - "I've tried to explain to my congregation that the holy ghost and the holy spirit are two separate things." I'm sure v. 4 is where they got this erroneous idea. Had Luke said, "..... as the ghost gave them utterance." it would have been ludicrous, as you can see. Isa. 1:18 - Come now, let us reason together ..... ".
