Acts 18:2 says Aquila was from Pontus. I got curious, looked up Pontus. And the article reminded me there were people (Greeks, "strangers") present on the Day of Pentecost, Acts 2:9. It was during the Roman period that Christianity entered Pontus and near-by areas from the Roman 'dispersion'. God wanted His people to spread His word beyond Jerusalem, and this is how he did it.

Acts 2:37, " ..... men and brethren, what must we do?" v. 38; Acts 16 30 - " ..... Sirs, what must I do to be saved"? v. 33 - "..... and was baptized, he and all his, straightway." Paul and Silas told him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. To 'believe' is more than just 'mental' assent. Read Jas.1:22,23, 17,18, 20-22, 24-26. To believe is simply faith; to have faith is to believe.
  • Irene123 on Ephesians 1 - 7 years ago
Eph. 1:13 - the word of 'truth' is Acts 2:38 (Matt.28:19); the gospel of your salvation, Acts 2:37 - "men and brethren, what must we do"? ye were sealed with that holy spirit of promise, Acts 10:45-46.

To Nene - thank-you so much for your encouragement. We're walking with Him and He's revealed His truth to us and we have His strength, but - when people disparage us - it hurts; even people we'll never meet, have never seen. That must be the sorrow of His spirit in us ..... ? But I'm fine, going through a 'dry' spell, but I made contact real good with Jesus this a.m. I love you, Nene, in Jesus.
  • Nene on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
Praise the Lord Irene 123...being a chosen vessel of God feels so good but I just wanted to comment you....you're doing a wonderful work for God online and I'm sure else where too cause there is so many need truth...we know it's only a few that are chosen because of the sincere heart and not justifying sin..so I will pray for you to keep doing what you feel lead to do for the kingdom. God Bless!!
  • Irene123 on Mark 1 - 8 years ago
I've seen on here a pastor that said John the Baptist baptized using the name of Jesus. John didn't use that or any name he baptized using only the words, "for the remission of sins". Jesus' name wasn't revealed for baptism until Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on 1 Corinthians 12 - 8 years ago
    V. 1 - "..... and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost." What this is referring to is - Jesus is the 'Lord' of ones life, after Acts 2:38. It's THEN He becomes the Lord of one's life, and one can say, "I KNOW the Lord." Jn. 15:14. Matt. 28:19 is a commandment of Jesus: in the NAME of ....."
  • Irene123 on Galatians 1 - 8 years ago
To Robt. (B0b) on Matt. 28:19, Acts 2:38, etc. - I'm just curious - what scriptures do you use to back up your opinion? No judging here, just sincere curiosity.
  • Arsenio glover on John 9 - 8 years ago
I enjoyed it , seeing how my Lord Jesus Christ and worked miracles Glory to The Lord Jesus Christ hallelujah ! If more people gave Thier life fully to Christ people will much better off. Acts 2:38 ( baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins and receive the gift of the holy ghost ). Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me.
  • Irene123 on Acts 14 - 8 years ago
    To Melinda, 4 17 11 - Ye-s-s-s!! Acts 2:38 - in Jesus name, Nov. 1973 for me I am now 74.
  • Irene123 on Romans 1 - 8 years ago
Romans wasn't the beginning of the church, nor does it contain any plan for initial salvation. Romans was a letter to the already established church (sinners already saved by Acts 2:38); it was to MAINLY the Jewish Christians that were having 2nd thoughts about laving the now defunct O.T. law of blood sacrifices and it's accouterments, the law Jesus fulfilled in His sacrifice.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
The 4 gospels laid the foundation for the beginning of Jesus' church. The church began in Acts Ch. 2 with the first message by Peter, then the question, " ..... men and brethren, what shall we do?" Peter's answer, "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift if the Holy Ghost."
    This is salvation.
  • Love for Truth on Matthew 28 - 8 years ago
Amen "baptizing them in the Name" the Apostle Peter was there when Jesus said this .Was Peter disobeying Jesus or did he understand what the name of the Father,Son,and Holy Ghost is when he told everyone of them to be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins in Acts 2:38 the Apostles only baptized in Jesus Name throughout scripture
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, ...............yet knowing how way leads to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged ...... and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. Acts 2:37-38
  • Irene123 on 1 Corinthians 8 - 8 years ago
God is one, not three. God is the Father in creation, God is Jesus in Salvation, God is the Holy Ghost (spirit), God's name is Jesus. His name shall be called Emmanuel (God with us); His name shall be called Jesus (Jehovah, the Lord our Savior). Matt. 28:19, "... baptizing them in the NAME of ... "; Acts 2:37-38 -- " ... be baptized everyone of you in the NAME of Jesus Christ ... "
  • Irene123 on Galatians 5 - 8 years ago
A wretch, 6-27-16 - a person looking for salvation/deliverance can find it in God's word - Acts 2:37-38. God is LOVE, this is HIS plan of salvation, it's in HIS Word, the Bible. Because He loves us so much more than even our parents can, He has provided ALL things we need to overcome. Without FAITH it is impossible to please Him. Faith is simply - believing and then following thru with Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
To Marshall - Well - not actually the whole Gospel, but the whole definition of the Godhead, which is so very important to understand - even before we can have faith to go on to Acts 2:38 and be saved.
  • A disciple on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
"And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What means this?" When EVER in all of human history, was the world ready and expecting the things which God did among them? And though He is not far from anyone of us, and closer than our hands and feet; yet we have no way to know Him by all that He has made, except He draw us to the Light, and give us understanding and grace.
  • Robert on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
This chapter tell us what to do in mission work
  • Irene123 on Psalms 47 - 8 years ago
    V. 2 - For the Lord most high is terrible - means He is GLORIOUS, MAJESTIC, ALL-POWERFUL, MERCIFUL, GRACIOUS, MIGHTY GOD, .................; but - He's not macho nor top dog or any non biblical terms; the Bible does more than enough justice to Him. Let's not try to bring Him down to our level; let's let HIM raise us to His level - Acts 2:37-38
  • Irene123 on Psalms 47 - 8 years ago
    V. 1 - " ..... shout unto God with the voice of triumph." Amen to that; Acts 2:38
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
    This is a quote I found online somewhere, didn't note where it was (sloppy);
"God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus." Acts 2:37-38
  • Irene123 on 1 John 1 - 8 years ago
To Bruce - Thank-you for taking the time to answer my query about "..... you will know; impossible not to know." I've known for2 1/2 yrs.; I'm just sorry you couldn't help me more (had I not already been saved) by giving me salvation scripture - such as Matt.28:19 and Acts 2:37-38.
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
Pro.5:1 cont. - where one receives His Holy Spirit (of truth) that leads us into all truth of His Word, the Holy Bible. Acts 2:38 is where Jesus' church began; and it began with this very first message by Peter of the plan laid out by JESUS for our salvation. God (Jesus) was giving Peter the word for word message of Acts2:38 right on the spot. God can do that; He can do - ANYTHING. God is ABLE!!!
  • Irene123 on Genesis 1 - 8 years ago
The incredible potential of nothing - God doesn't see 'nothing' as we see it. For God, nothing is the raw material for everything He created. Why is that important to us? If you feel you are nothing (not prideful, etc.), feel you have nothing to offer God - then you are exactly what God needs to perform a miracle. 'Miracle' equaling - salvation, Acts 2:38.
  • Iene123 on 2 Corinthians 9 - 8 years ago
"..... His unspeakable gift." the Holy Ghost, Acts 2:38. Jn. 15:5 - " ..... he that abideth in me and I IN HIM ..... without me ye can do nothing."
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
Michelleann cont. - One needs the Holy Spirit indwelling in them ( Acts 2:38) for the power (strength) to acquire the peace of God that passeth ALL understanding. One prays everyday after being saved for a fresh infilling of God's spiritual gifts; we don't just pray one time for them. To have the power of His spirit in you, you HAVE to follow Acts 2:38. V, 37 - "what must we do?"
  • Irene123 on Psalms 5 - 8 years ago
    V. 11 - the last phrase - is preceded by a colon (:). This always indicates the following is - important - "..... let them also that love thy NAME be joyful in thee. In the O.T. the name was Jehovah (YAH). Jehovah is from the Hebrew; in the N.T. Greek it translates into - Jesus. And we LOVE His name when we are baptized in it - Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on Isaiah 15 - 8 years ago
Matthew Henry. He was an Englishman, a minister of a LARGE church, very honored and loved - and God used him to write his commentary. He was brilliant and loved God and people. But he only finished his commentary himself to the end of Acts; someone else did the rest - because God took him within a couple of yrs. after Acts. M.H. was a Trinitarian, and Acts 2:38 is oneness (Jesus name).
  • Irene123 on Psalms 23 - 8 years ago
To Lori - Amen, Lori; I feel the same way, and at 74 I have several aches 'n pains, but nothing incapacitating. I just keep my mind on 2 Cor.24-27. Paul is so encouraging, and our 'life' isn't here anyway; we're paying the ticket for our NEW life. There are some things you don't mind paying for - if your one of His - Acts 2:38.
