to Sharon - you advised someone (I didn't take notice of who) to read acts ch. 2. Yes, I agree - please really study it. Matt. 28: 19 is in there, in vs. 4 and 37-38.

Jeremiah 4:7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant. "This prophecy is sent by commandment of God Almighty. Read and retain for reproof, instruction and your salvation. The following events mark world descent into spiritual damnation, or hell: the Syrian President will visit the United States for what appears to be a diplomacy visit. During the visit, the US will experience large-scale blackouts, particularly in the northeast, coastal and metro areas. Soon after, during the blackouts, the LORD JESUS CHRIST will save the faithful, children, teens, the destitute and others from around the world. Immediately proceeding this event, US coastal cities and military bases, beginning with NY, will fall under nuclear attack from Russia, China and others. Cities will lay desolate with the remaining people devastated and the world in chaos. Anarchy, famine, enslavement and horrible deaths will ensue. Repent and ask JESUS to save you from this hell. Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

During the visit, the US will experience large-scale blackouts, particulary in the northeast, coastal and metro areas. It was THE WRITER of the Book of Acts who told us what Peter said in Acts 2:38,39. And it was THE WRITER of the Book of Matthew who told us that Jesus spoke the words in Matthew 28:19,20. Both men wrote under inspiration of God. These scriptures do not contradict. Both agree with Acts 4:11,12. There are no contradictions in scripture. If you think you know one pray for understanding.

Jesus didn't make a mistake when He chose the 12 Apostles. He knew what they would do and teach. In fact He told them that whatever they bound on earth would be bound in heaven and whatever they loosed on earth would be loosed in heaven. That's how much he trusted them with the gospel.. He knew they would keep His words to the death. Matthew 28:19,20 and Acts 2:37,38

I found myself draw to the chapter of Acts I believe this chapter is much needed for the spreading of the Gospel. It helped them to do the work for the kingdom of heaven then and it continues with the power of the Holy Spirit to reach and win souls today. Awesome.

In Acts 2 verse 17 I've always understood this prophesy of Joel to come in the latter days before the return of Christ, yet Peter preached it as in effect on the day of Pentecost, and so was it for about 3,000 souls.

Acts 2:38 gives us the general plan for salvation: repentance, baptism in Jesus' name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. There is no other way anyone in the Bible is baptized than in Jesus' name. I have read the Bible through more than three times and have yet to find anyone baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
  • Irene123 - 9 years ago
Lenetra - you don't 'pray' for forgiveness; you 'do' acts 2:38 - just as Peter said. then you can pray for the infilling of the Holy Ghost - which is evidenced by God taking over your tongue and speaking through you. Romans 10:13 was to an already established church of saints that had already done Acts 2:38. be sure to read Rom. 10:14 - "....without a preacher"? Heb. 10:25.

The NT is translated from the Greek and the word Pentecost literally means "50th day". It is the Biblical Jewish "feast (festival) of weeks"(Shavuot) ( Ex. 34:22) to celebrate the completion of wheat harvest.(50th day after Passover). The Holy Spirit came on this day.( Acts 2:1) So Paul in 1 Cor. 16:8, was speaking of the Jewish festival not the day the Holy Spirit came. (See Blue letter Bible)

I thank God for such a wonderful gift,of using words to destroy the devil. We see in this scripture that the mouth is the one that we use to call upon the name of Jesus, and it is the same word that God created the earth,so just believe with heart and confess with your mouth and you will be saved because in your words thats where life is,so as your salvation so dont use your mouth to say evil things because it is the one you use to appreciate the works done by Jesus Christ.glory be to Jesus Christ

This passage is still working today and will work forever. As for me : As I have called upon my Lord God through out theses 37 years , He has never failed to save me from any circumstance , and or situation . Salvation is 5 fold : Preservation Healing Deliverance from temporal evils Safety Soundness of mind. All is for the whole of man . God left nothing out. Praise God !!!

It seems to me, what happened on the day of Pentecost was something of a reversal of what happened at the dispersion at Babel in the book of Genesis. I think speaking in tongues clearly refers to speaking in other languages and was a gift apostles found themselves with granted by the Holy Spirit. This all seems very interesting to me in light of our present day church history. Many thanks!

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Read all of Acts 2 hear and see for yourself it says all how many times not some but all God Bless u all.. I spoke in tongues just crying out for help and the next thing I know I was speaking in another tongue but it was a little scary moment but I felt like so clean

Do not be deceived, the words Les posted are true. May GOD bless you all in Christ Jesus. Amen Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Respons to LES M - - - Further more, according to the gospel of LUKE 24:36-53, you should read it until verse 53. Jesus's disciples were terrified because Jesus came to them. They've heard that Jesus was crucified to death but Jesus didn't die. Amazing.. Unless you want to say Jesus is lying in the Bible. Please read the gospel of LUKE 24:36-53.
