This comment is to Andi Meekcold. Jesus came to bring life to all who will believe in His death, burial, and resurrection. He took your sins upon himself, Andi, so you would not have to go to hell. He is our sacrifice for sin. We receive the atonement through obedience to Acts 2:37,38. Repent(ask forgiveness for all wrongdoing and turn from evil), be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, and the Lord will fill you with the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues. He died for you, Andi. Find an Apostolic Holiness or United Pentecostal Church and attend to hear what you must do to be saved. God bless you.

I believe they were believing men who gave their lies over completely to the teachings of Christ. Giving their lives and everything they possessed to spread God's word.

If it is in the Bible, then it is true or the Apostles are deceiving all the people in the upper room. Jesus said that he would send the comforter, making the Holy Spirit subservient to him. That makes the name of Jesus the all in all "person" in the godhead bodily. Jesus even said do all things in his name.
  • Bro.Anil Patra on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
The holy bible is clear and opened for all human but to understand the verse we should have the holy spirit because the bible was written by the God's people filled with the holy spirit, if we would try to understand the bible as human will be wrong so we should pray to God to understand, the bible says we can't add and subtract one word to the bible, (So it is very clear to understand Jesus said Matthew 28:19 to the apostles before he was crucified. Literally in Acts 2:38 the apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and then Peter stand before said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Same baptism was said by Paul also. Jesus said if you love me then obey my word. Such people cannot obey the word because they are not anointed apostles.

Baptism was originally used like an "altar call" at a Billy Graham crusade. Peter indicates that the washing isn't what saves you, but the "answer of a good conscience towards God." It is believing to the point where you openly respond to God, and are willing to be openly associated with Christ. Baptism is a vehicle to openly identify with Christ. The quality of faith is what saves you. The thief on the cross wasn't baptized, but he believed to the point where he was willing to call out to Christ and be open about his faith in Christ. There are plenty of scriptures that tell of salvation apart from baptism, but a faith that is willing to be open and public and not secret is always evident. If you realize that baptism was the usual way people responded to the gospel message and openly identified with Christ, then it explains passages connecting baptism with salvation and also explains passages and saved people who have no connection to baptism. Other ways to demonstrate open faith in Christ: call upon Him, confess Him, love your neighbor, etc.

You need to know whom you are dealing with. And know this is is Jesus whom you have put your mouth on and are putting to death on the cross the one God send to save the sick and heal the land of dieses .Give sight to the blind because you have to give account of your wrong and what you do.

In answer to Rosalina's Romans Chapter 3 comment on 9/14/2013, 11:52am...If we have faith in the blood of Jesus Christ--then we will BAPTIZED IN JESUS name. Then and only then can/will the blood be applied for the REMISSION OF SINS. Peter said on the day of Pentecost--BAPTISM WAS FOR THE remission of SINS.

Matthew 26:28 | Read whole chapter | See verse in context
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Acts 2:38 | Read whole chapter | See verse in context
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Just believing is no good--we must FOLLOW the INSTRUCTIONS found in the word of GOD>
  • Jose on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
I think it is very clear, what peter is talking about when he says repent and be baptized, everyone of you; in the name of JESUS CHRIST ACTS 4:8 then peter filled with the HOLY SPIRIT,said to them rulers and elders of the people if we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed then, know this you and everyone else in isreal it is by the name of jesus christ of nazareth whom you crucified, but whom god raised from the dead that this man stands before you completely healed. salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
  • Josh on Acts 2:38 - 11 years ago
Its easy to see how well all the verses harmonize together. Mark 16:16, He who believes and is baptized shall be saved... Acts 2:38 And Peter said unto them repent and be baptized everyoneof you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..... Romans 6:1-6 says we are "Buried with him by baptism into death." But then you get to verses like Eph. 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith... That is excatly right. Faith leads us to repentance. We confess Christ because of our faith. Romans 10:9 Faith makes us do all these things. We are buried with him in baptism and raised THROUGH FAITH. Col 2:12

Re:These are my comments to Rosalinasaysonkotapay's John Chapter 5 comment on 9/19/2013, 2:57am... (Number 1): Matthew 18? The angel said,“You are to give Him the name JESUS, because He will save His people from their sins.” Acts 4:12 says,“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Acts 2:21 says, “Everyone who calls on the NAME of the Lord will be saved.” (Number 2): 1 Corinthians 3:15, If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. (This is my response to Lurline's comment dated 9/15/2013 at 5:20pm on Chapter 15 about verse 4):

God is a JUST GOD. He will NOT let it happen that His words shall NOT make known unto ONE flesh before the end come...In the last days, God shall pour out His Spirit upon ALL flesh ( Acts 2:17)...To pour out His Spirit means to make known His words ( Proverbs 1:23)...This shall be done after the gospel shall be preached to ever creature ( Mark 16:15-16) in all nations ( Matthew 28:9-20)...in all the world, and then shall the end come ( Matthew 24:14).

  • Phillip on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
Jesus said in Matt 26:28 that He shed His Blood "for the remission of sins." This same exact phrase is found in Acts 2:38. We know that Jesus did not shed His Blood because we were already saved, but in order that we would be saved. Peter is pointing out here, what Paul expounds upon in Rom 6:1-6 and Gal 3:27...that by be baptized we are contacting the sin cleansing Blood of Christ. Certainly we are saved by His grace of coming into this world and dying on the cross. But it is by being obedient to His word that we have faith in. Eph 2:8,9 do not say we are saved by faith ALONE. That word was added by men. We are saved by faith in that we believe His word and obey it. Those in Acts 2:37 were pricked in their hear...they believed....and when they asked "what must we do.." Peter said "repent and be baptized everyone one of you in the name of Jesus Christ FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS.."
  • Stanley on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
It seems that we have forgotten about Ephesians 2:8 & 9. We are saved by Grace. Baptism does not save us. We get baptized because we are saved.
  • Tanya on John 10:30 - 11 years ago
I am so thankful that I know who Jesus Christ is. He’s the father, the son & the Holy Spirit. There is a plan of salvation that we must follow and it's clearly stated in Acts 2:38. I don't understand how people can believe that there are 3 separate entities in the Godhead. Colossians 2:9, "For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily". Why do you think Jesus was crucified? He was proclaiming that he was God. ( Romans 10 verse 13 states that he who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved, verse 14 how can people call on the Lords name when they don't believe who Jesus is. HE chooses and sends preachers, to those who haven't heard yet who Jesus Christ is. Most preachers decide themselves that they want to preach.)

I remember seeing Perry Stone, when talking about profecy, and saying ' your sons and daughters shall profecie' he even went on to say, 'Dont mind what Peter said, but there is still future profecy' Well, did not Peter say in conjunction to the day of Pentecost, 'This is That', wich was spoken by the prophet Joel. That was a singular event that was fufilled at the Day of Pentecost! some churches are still stuck in the Book of Acts, and dont take the ' Whole Knowledge Of God. And I worry about Perry Stone, adding or giving his idea without really looking at waht it says.

Verse 23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

I would have to ***ume the word of God, also, means every verse in the Bible pertaining to born again salvation. All these verses would have to agree with one another, because ALL scripture is inspired of God. Therefore, ALL scripture DOES agree with one another. In other words John 3:5, Romans 10:9-10 Acts 2:38, and the rest, MUST ALL give us the same STANDARD information, pertaining to salvation or the born again experience. Unfortunately, mainstream Christianity "VERSION" of salvation is drastically different---from the version found in Acts 2:38.
scriptural reasoning--SCREAMS--THAT ALL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO SALVATION MUST absolutely be THE SAME.--IN ORDER THERE IS NO confusion>

In Jesus name,I baptize you in the name of the FATHER, SON and of the HOLLY SPIRIT, Amen.
  • Ciscokid on Acts 2 - 11 years ago
Acts 2 is an account of men actually receiving NEW TESTAMENT salvation. Hello---men actually receiving NEW TESTAMENT salvation---and ENTERING the KINGDOM OF GOD>, just as Jesus mentioned in John 3:5 being born of water and spirit i.e. Acts 2:38. they WERE BAPTIZED IN
the name of Jesus. Folks can argue and debate all they want--the Apostles baptized in the NAME of Jesus. bc-- Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other NAME under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
WHY don't people WANT to understand???---SALVATION is ALL ABOUT the NAME of JESUS, it's the blood of Jesus that saves. It's that blood that saves from sin--NOT the TITLES Father Son and Holy Ghost. Father is NOT a name--it's a title. Son is not a name it's a title---a title only gives reference to a personal relationship--hello-a title only gives reference to a personal relationship-
A title is NOT a personal NAME---Jesus is the PERSONAL NAME of OUR SAVIOR. It's the ONLY name we can scripturally use in baptism.
  • Rito on Acts 2:38 - 11 years ago
peter was truly telling them that without being born again no one can inherit the things of heaven. truly people go to church but not yet born again, here peter told people like those that they can't recieve the gift of God. they had to be baptised first so that they can talk to God

Bobby's said about Romans Chapter 10 comment on 7/13/2013, 8:51pm..." Romans 10 is powerful! Especially Romans 10:9@10. It actually instructs a sinner how to be saved."
This is my answer to Bobby's comment.

Bobby--if you will notice--Romans is a letter to the church at Rome--these folks were ALREADY saved. Paul was addressing SAVED folks. Bobby--why not go BACK in the scriptures where the church was started--where folks ACTUALLY received INSTRUCTIONS how to be saved. The book of Acts is scripturally where the New Testament church started. NOW compare the instructions Peter gave those men in Acts 2 to those so called "instructions" in Romans 10:9-10.
IF Romans is actually "INSTRUCTIONS" that lead to salvation--then why is there no mention IN ROMANS of REPENTANCE, baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the Holy Ghost. These instructions were in Acts 2. You mentions Eph 2:8-10--also. Again, WHY are these "instructions" TO OBTAIN salvation SOOOoooo much different from one another???

The mainstream Christian world is TOTALLY AFRAID of Acts 2:38???--BECAUSE it ****s holes in the false doctrine of "believe in your heart and confess with your mouth".
Romans 10 and Eph 2---are EPISTLES--HELLO EPISTLES --LETTERS to CHURCHS OF Rome and Ephesians ----folks who were ALREADY SAVED. These ARE not INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO BE SAVED>

  • Prem Anand on Acts 2:38 - 11 years ago
This is in response to Pastor David J. Meyer's comments as to baptism be taken only in a singular name of Jesus is sufficient. Though baptism is given in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.. it is still in singular form. All three are the one and the same, just God intended at different time zones of the world for them to reveal themselves does not make them three different persons, so in that case, we need to clearly mention the three names, immersed in water and as a sign of holy ghost anointing should speak in tongues. If your baptism is lacking any one of this or the teaching is taken only partially to convince your argument that "it is sufficient to give baptism in the name of Jesus alone" is a major mistake in understanding the Trinity. There are numerous verses in Acts to substantiate my faith... Acts 2:39 (not for a few selected, it is for all)

Amen Richard It is through His name(Jesus) Acts 10:43) in baptism( Acts 2:38) that the blood is applied ( HEBREWS 9:22) which is required for remission of sins.Thank God for the blood!
