    I believe in the doctrine of the apostles.
  • Thomas D. on John 3 - 12 years ago
    @Tom Allen,
    If it weren't to the individual to be born again, how is one to get into heaven? Flesh and blood surely will not, then Acts 2:38, 4:12, Colossians 3:17 and others in Acts are null and void and the Bible not true. Many would like to just use Romans as a means of salvation but that won't work; it’s a beginning..Faith without WORKS is DEAD!!!

    I do believe Jesus Himself speaks of the lake of fire in Revelation several times. But no one is cast in there until his return and they are given another chance to accept Him as Lord and saviour. And follow the true Ten Commandments not the catholic version that replaced Sunday for Saturday. Those who believe Jesus nailed the commandments to the cross are deceived. The ceremonial and sacrificial laws were nailed to the cross but not the Moral law. That is why he said If you love me keep my commandments, I have kept my father’s commandments and many will worship Me in vain teaching doctrines of men for commandments. I paraphrased a lot there but in Luke 6:46 he says why call me Lord and not do what I say. Nowhere in the bible is Sunday transferred as the Sabbath. Luke 4:4, He says we are to live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. The bible is God’s word. Circumcision is well documented on its absolution. So why not Sunday taking over from Saturday? Because it hasn't, in John 10:35, Jesus says the scripture cannot be broken. Daniel 7:25 tells us the beast will change ties and laws and wear out the saints. The Dark Age period Christians keeping the 7th day as Jesus did, were killed for 1260 years. The Catholic Church passed the law to do it and they did. Research canon Law XX1X.

    In John 3, Jesus told Nicodemus "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God". Again Jesus said "Except a man be born of the water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God". Amen. God said "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but "the end thereof are the ways of death”. Amen and Amen...

    This text agrees perfectly other texts and references even in the preface an old version of American Standard Bible: THAT SHEOL AND HADES MEAN SIMPLY GRAVE, PIT, HELL all being synonymous words. It does not mean a place of fire torment. Even Jesus the son of Jehovah was there, as all human when we die, but did not remain there. How sad to believe that hell which means grave means a fire eternal home of torment.

    Baptism plays a very real part in our salvation. Jesus spoke in John 3:3-8 of the new birth (being born again) said that we must be born again of Water and of the Spirit. Water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and the infilling of the Holy Ghost ( Acts 2:1-4). We must Repent (die to sin) we must be baptized in Jesus' name (burial, likened to Jesus, Romans 6:4) and then Receive the Holy Ghost ( Acts 2:1-4; 10:44-47). There is the plan... Thank God I followed it!

    I know that the Bible is right and somebody's wrong, God's word is always right let every man be a liar and God's word be Truth and the Truth will make you free. Yes I believe Acts 2:38 and I believe in Jesus Christ, yes I believe that JESUS is GOD.
  • Mas on Acts 2 - 12 years ago
    @Fruitloop,
    It is not baptism that saves us, it is rather the faith of Jesus Christ, Romans 10:9, 10.
    Baptism is just a symbol of repentance, but it is not conditioned to one’s salvation.
    God bless you.
  • Fruitloop on Acts 2:38 - 12 years ago
    So if a man has accepted Christ and has not been baptized, can he still go to heaven? He has been told a couple of different things. He does not go to church, but has made a decision and was baptized as a young boy.

    I would like to focus on verses 23 and 24; Saying But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Precisely God is looking for a true worshipper in this scenario, who will worship him in Spirit and Truth. So many people believed and worship God, Praising God but they don't know if whom they are worshipping. Here God stated that we must have the qualifications that God wants to see. Verse 24; God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. It is true that God is Spirit that is a fact 1+1=11. Being Spirit, He doesn't have a body, doesn't have a blood, a bone, even flesh meaning God is invisible, we cannot see him but we can feel him. Being He is the TRUTH this is the power of God to forgive on our sins, to save us from our sins without accepting the process of God for salvation then we cannot enter into the Kingdom of God which John 3:5 stated. Unless a man is born of water & of Spirit he cannot enter into God's Kingdom. Because our destiny actually is for damnation in hell, once you died you are already judged ( Hebrews 9:27). And there is NO MORE HOPE for salvation to our SOUL, because we are all BORN SINNERS according to ( Psalms 55:1, Romans 3: 10,23) and the wages of sins is death. We will all die in flesh and some of will all die Spiritually in hell if they don’t repent. The only remedy is to accept Jesus Christ in Baptism bacause this is His command before ascending in heaven that he commanded his disciples to baptize all nation in his name ( Acts 2:38-39). That is the reason that God seeketh a TRUE WORSHIPPER WHO WILL WORSHIP HIM WITHOUT SEEING ANYTHING because God is Spirit. God bless you all. Jesus loves us!
  • Brooklyn on Acts 2 - 12 years ago
    The thief on the cross was still living under the dispensation of law. That is why it was not necessary for him to be baptized or have the Holy Ghost. When the Lord died, it brought us into the dispensation of grace, abolished the law, and brought along with it the responsibility of seeking salvation through repentance, baptism, and the Holy Ghost.
  • Rebecca on 1 Timothy 2 - 12 years ago
    This was a letter which Paul was sending to timothy for the Corinthian church, a specific church where women were, because of the new found freedom, being careless in their dressings and physical comportment, which was bringing disorderliness and worldliness in their midst. So the apostle of God had to set ORDER. Anything that prevents you from serving God, you should cut it off. What matters is that you do not put any worldly thing first before God, and that nothing hinders you from serving Him. And in doing so, you do not cause others to stumble or sin, but in whatever thing you do, you learn to consider not just yourself but others as well. The point is that God is looking into your HEART. The word of God says that man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks into the heart, and out of the abundance the heart, the mouth speaks. If you have the spirit of God in you, be open to God and He will lead you in every aspect of your life and by the way. Look at the women of faith in the bible, was not Esther a judge, or was not Deborah a judge, what about Mary who the spirit of God came upon to be the mother of our king. And what about Ruth, Naomi, Sarah, Anna, etc.. God calls who He wants to call, and uses who He wants to use to be a pastor, teacher, preacher, worshiper, whatever God wills. Joel 2:28 "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions". The Emphasis in this scripture is on YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS. This scripture was also cited in Acts 2:16-17. God bless you all.

    The revelation came to me this morning, that Jesus, as the second Adam, the quickening Spirit, desired to be made one in his body with the Father as he was in the Spirit before he took on flesh ( John 1:1-4, 12-16; Hebrews 10:5,7), so that we Gentiles (as believers) could enter into the Kingdom of God in his Glorified Body according to Acts 2:38, and be glorified in the Rapture ( Philippians 3:21). This is "Wonderful News." I am in the Glorified Body of Christ, Expectedly waiting for my glorified body in the rapture. Thank God for including me, a Gentile, in the blessings of Abraham's SEED; Jesus, the Christ!

    To answer Stephen question from 10-16-12, Yes Sir you are correct about the thief on the cross he was not baptized, But this was before the death of Jesus, the Holy Ghost was not yet giving to anyone Jesus stated that after he depart he will send the comforter which is the Holy Ghost in ( John 14:26) . In the Old Testament, they had to bring goats and lambs for a sacrifice for an offering and be cleansed for a whole year ( Numbers 7:15-17). In the New Testament when Jesus came as a lamb in flesh ( John 1:29), to shed his blood for the whole world that we may have a chance to be saved. Jesus stated that we must be born again of the water and the spirit ( John 3:3-7) or we cannot see the kingdom of God. In Acts 2:38, it is when the door was opened by Peter the man whom Jesus gave the keys to the kingdom ( Matthew 16:18-19). We are to obey his orders to be saved. Lots more scriptures but here is one more for now, 1Peter 3:21-22. God Bless!

    Did we all forget Acts 2:17 that states “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions”. I am a witness for the Lord. I don't worry about titles nor do I let my good be evil spoken of, but do all things in decency and in order. God will use whom ever he chooses and who he calls he qualifies. There is no respect of persons with him. I carry his word in my heart and I will use it to help others we should all be trying to help someone who is lost and show them the way to God through Christ Jesus no matter what our gender is.
  • Roger A. Nixon on Ephesians 4 - 12 years ago
    Verse 5 is so concise. No matter who man decides to follow, it is settled here - THERE IS "ONE LORD." If the bible refers to our LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, then ONLY Jesus Christ is Lord! "ONE FAITH" means there is only ONE true doctrine. The bible says that they continued steadfastly in The APOSTLES’ DOCTRINE, which is recorded in Acts 2:38-39. That passage also shows us the "ONE BAPTISM" accepted as TRUE Baptism-in THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the Remission of Sins. JESUS is the ONLY NAME UNDER HEAVEN GIVEN UNTO MAN Whereby we must be saved! False religions are intent to name there gods publicly. Our GOD has ONE NAME--JESUS.
  • Ann on Psalms 68 - 12 years ago
    This comment is to Jacob K. Jacob, There are many voices in this world and many religions; but, there is only one truth and HIS NAME IS JESUS! The angel declared His Name before His fleshly body of His habitation was born. The angel said ye shall call His Name Jesus, he shall save His people from their sins. The God of Glory took on flesh to save all who will come to Him. He was crucified, dead and buried; BUT, HE AROSE and continually lives. The instructions for eternal life are given to us in Acts 2:37,38. REPENT (ask forgiveness of sins, and turn from them), BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. GOD IS WAITING ON YOU, JACOB. There is only ONE God and His Name is JESUS. Praying for you.
  • Billy on Acts 2:38 - 12 years ago
    @Stephen B.
    Baptized means immersion in water. The water represents the grave (being buried) and coming out of the water (resurrection). If you have truly and fully repented (turned away from your sinful ways), the blood is applied to wash away your (previous) sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This does not forgive you for any sins committed after that. You are forgiven for them by dying daily (repenting). Jesus (God manifested in the flesh) had the power to forgive the thief and promise him salvation. At the time the thief died on the cross, the Holy Ghost had not yet been given. There are many examples of people in the Old Testament that went to Heaven without baptism because they were accepted by the Father. Water baptism by John was "unto repentance". After Jesus has been resurrected and overcame death, hell and the grave, his followers were to go and await The Comforter (the Holy Ghost). That is what they received on the day of Pentecost (that doesn't mean it was only one day, as witnessed by the rest of the New Testament). Mary, the mother of Jesus was one of those who received the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost. People who pray to Mary are actually disobeying God's Word, as she was just a human as the rest of us.
  • Tony on Acts 2 - 12 years ago
    I have been baptized in God’s wonderful name Jesus in water and received the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues. It’s still alive today. Praise God!!!
  • Stephen belding on Acts 2:38 - 12 years ago
    Peter is talking about being baptized in the name of Jesus - not being baptized with water - especially when 3 thousand got saved on the day of Pentecost. There is no mention of water only being filled with the Holy Ghost. However if one were to listen to Jesus on the cross when he said to the thief that accepted Jesus as savior - this thief was not baptized but was told by Jesus that - you shalt be with me in paradise. The thief died on the cross - so he couldn't have been baptized - right...
  • Shirley King on Acts 2 - 12 years ago
    I believe, the Holy Ghost truly came live that day. I would that I could have heard Peter preach that day. That was great message! The Holy Ghost is so real. Thank Him for being in control of my life.
  • Frenz on Matthew 28 - 12 years ago
    Jesus said in these verse! Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not mention NAMES but name (SINGULAR) (Proper Noun) Father, Son and Holy Spirit is NOT A NAME they are ALL TITLES! It is the name of God (JESUS CHRIST) that we should be baptize and not the TITLE for there is ONLY ONE GOD ( Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 John 5:20; Isaiah 43:10) Jehovah is Jehovah Saviour Jesus Christ revealed in the New Testament that is why there is NOT without this the plan will not be fulfilled, ( Gal 4:3-4) Fullness of time has come God sent forth his Son born of a woman ( Isaiah 7:14) God will give you a "SIGN" ( Isaiah 9:6) This boy will be given a name Emmanuel ( Matthew 1:20-23) That it is the Angel Gabriel who gave the name of this child and his name is Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins. That is why there is power in his name! Jesus will SET YOU FREE ( John 8:32) for Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father except through ME (Jesus). Because BAPTISM refers to REMISSION OF SINS, without baptism our SINS are not forgiven and our soul is destined to hell, that is why He said in Romans 6:23: ‘’For the wages of Sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ’’. This is God's Plan of salvation. The offering of Bulls and animals is not good in the sight of God that is why He sent his Son born of a woman to redeem those who are under the law ( Galatians 4:3-4). And God is Spirit ( John 4:24), He came into world as a sinful flesh to die on the cross for our sins. That is why that in the name of Jesus there is Remission of Sins ( Acts 2:38); In the name of Jesus there is salvation ( Acts 4:12); in the name of Jesus there is healing. In other words without this process our soul will not be saved. Our faith must have WORKS ( James 2:24) God bless you all.

    GOD’S WORD SAYS THAT IN THE MOUTH OF 2 OR 3 WITNESSES EVERY WORD WILL BE ESTABLISHED. SO IN LIGHT OF THAT I WILL SHARE A FEW TRUTHS ON GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION. IN ACTS 2:38 SEE THE ANSWER HE GAVE WHEN ASKED ‘’MEN AND BRETHERN WHAT SHALL WE DO?’’ PETER ANSWERED IN VERSE 38...REPENT, AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. WE FIND THAT THIS IS WITNESSED IN ACTS 10:34-48. AND ALSO IN ACTS 19 :1-7. MAY GOD OPEN EVERY EYE AND HEART TO THIS TRUTH. YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE WITNES TO BAPTISM USING THE WORDS FATHER, SON OR HOLY GHOST, BECAUSE FATHER IS NOT A NAME, SON IS NOT A NAME AND HOLY GHOST IS NOT A NAME,JESUS IS HIS NAME...

    Oh, what a terrible time for sinners when the wrath of God is poured out. Let us who are of the day be sober and alert. Sinners, there is still time to repent and be baptized the name of Jesus Christ for the remisson of sins and to receive the infilling of Jesus' Spirit. Read Acts 2:37,38
  • Tony Allen on Acts 2:38 - 12 years ago
    John 3:1-8 Jesus tells Nicodemus that he must be born of water and the spirit otherwise he will not see the kingdom of God even from afar off! So we come to Acts 2 - Repent, be baptized and you SHALL receive the Holy Spirit! Unfortunately most churches, nominal and even most Pentecostal, do not accept that speaking in tongues is the only sign that you have received the Holy Spirit! Jesus wouldn't make that statement to Nicodemus about the need to be born again without there being some tangible evidence of that event - He wouldn't leave us floundering as to whether or not we are born again - hence the accompanying sign should be! In Acts 10: Cornelius prayed often and gave alms to the poor but was instructed by the angel to go to Joppa where Peter would tell him what he needed to do further - receive the Holy Spirit - and in Acts 11 Peter tells the rest of the apostles that they received the HOLY SPIRIT "as we did at the beginning!"

    "Forgiveness from “sins” is a free gift based on a condition. ( Acts 2:38) The condition for forgiveness is baptism in water."

    And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. ( Luke 23:43)

    So when exactly was the malefactor baptized?

    Either the Lord is wrong or you are.
