22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And KNEW HER NOT till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
COMMENT: Joseph and Mary did not have marital relations until after his birth. Women are counseled even this day to wait 4-6 weeks to resume relations.
In the Book of Luke you will see that the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary. I wrote on this the other day. The Holy Spirit: is Spirit. God is spirit. Jesus is the Word of God. Mary was not touched by anything physical.
Hey Roxanne;Jesus Father is God ,not Joseph.Joseph and all the rest of us have sinful blood flowing through our veins. It took pure blood shed by Christ to pay that ransom to redeem us back to God.He only had His Father,s blood in Him.Pure and sinless.
Jesus is God's only begotten son. (see John chapter 1)
The first chapters of Matthew and Luke give us the details of Jesus being born to Mary, a virgin. Joseph was engaged to Mary and took her as his wife, but they had no relations until after Jesus was born.

Acts 2:33 - Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

I feel you're correct in your understanding of the Cross. The Acts 5:30 use of 'tree' would most likely be alluding to the Cross as shaped from the 'wood' of the trees. Of course, the shape of Jesus' Cross cannot be known as it's not revealed to us, but given the many forms of 'Cross executions' by the Romans, the Crux Commissa (or, the T shape) was the likely one which typified the way our Lord was crucified & allowed for the placement of the sign above his Head.
I was raised Catholic and always believed it was a cross that Jesus was hung on! It makes more sense because on his walk to the place where he died he had to bear the weight of the cross, he wasnt bearing a tree!!! The saying " it is my cross to bear" says alot !!!!!!!! and besides every movie Ive ever saw concerning his life and death always made reference and showed a Cross not a tree!!!!!!!!
I hear you all talking about somethings that we may never see or hear! John the baptist may have never saw the ax that took his head off!U may not see the heart attack that will take you, or even the stroke. We must depend on the mercies of God. Wisdom comes from believing in His word and only His word. The book of revelation is a book of prophecy that applies to all generations. Our mission is to teach and witness his word that others may come to the truth. That Christ kingdom will grow and become strong in the things that pertain too heaven and earth, even the universe. Your witness will Draw all nations unto him!Remember that you are a chosen generation a royal priesthood! It will take more than a mask to disguise his word!
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Mt 5:11,12.
"And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name." Acts 5:41.
There are many today suffering or being persecuted around the world for their beliefs. Christians in those parts have learned how to live under such repressive systems & take it patiently; actually there's not much else that they can do. In the West, we barely get a sense of this now as generally Judeo-Christian principles are well established, though even these are constantly eroded, as we see it affecting education, discipline, removal of Christian values & teaching in favour of atheistic/humanistic based teachings. We easily & quickly complain that 'our faith is being attacked' when society has had to fall in line with recent governmental restrictions. I wonder how these same folk will handle some real 'attacks to their faith' as Satan goes into higher gear with his thrusts into our already compromised governmental mentality & systems. How will Christians behave & live in an increasingly anti-christian society?
Would our response be as the Lord encouraged his disciples: to rejoice in their sufferings & persecutions - to rejoice & be exceeding glad for their heavenly reward would be great? Or will we complain with more gusto? Maybe to consider some of the other believers' suffering today might help us get a better perspective for today & preparation for tomorrow.
Thank you Mark for that reminder from Neh 4:14: "Be not afraid - remember the Lord".
a. God did give us a perfect immune system, but after the fall, those systems became less than perfect. And this is proven by what mankind suffers throughout their lives, some much worse than others. Good "food & herbs" are important, but our sinful bodies have the final say.
b. that's wonderful that you desire to follow "God's expectations". And I can't show you from Scriptures about mask-wearing or social distancing - maybe Covid-19 & other viruses were not evident then or the Bible book writers didn't include that aspect. However, the Bible does tell me in Rom 13:1-7 that I need to obey/be subject to the government, for if I disobey, then I show contempt to what God has ordained for us. Yet, there may be times now & certainly later, when the governments will require Christians to do what is contrary to our faith & God's requirements. Peter in Acts 5:29 spoke well to the Jewish leaders when the apostles disobeyed the law & began to preach Jesus: "We ought to obey God rather than men". So, there is a clear occasion when we must disobey - disobeying now because of this virus' presence & impact, is not the occasion.
c. wearing masks may not be "good for our respiratory systems" but if they help to stop the spread of the virus & needless death, then I would think that it would be useful. For example, you're in a packed train going to work & someone next to you is sneezing & coughing profusely: how do you react? By all accounts, you would do nothing & trust God to protect you. That's great faith. But if your faith was a little diminished & you too suffered the same illness for a week or so, at least you expect to finally recover. With Covid, there is still hope for recovery for most, but for many, death looms (as published figures show). You may be ready to face your Maker, but the other person may not be in that joyful position. I wouldn't like to be in that position of sending one to his life's end, whether or not he was prepared for it.
Mishael on the Wonder of Gods Glory - In Reply on Acts 5 - 4 years ago
God and I enjoy all the weather together. He controls it every day. I was out there thinking out loud about arguments in here about Tribs, somewhat disgusted, and asked for rain. It was a mostly clear sky.
God knows I adore rain with lightning because to me, I am seeing and hearing His voice. I know every attribute of Him and his Glory. I've had an awareness of God since I was 4. He wasn't a playmate! But He would be interested in things I would build: habitats. We like the same things. And we love beauty in the clouds.
I wish everybody could enjoy the same awareness and closeness. I always thank Him for His time. I don't have to be in Church to sing to Him. He might put cotton in His ears, because I sound like a frog with a cold.
(Bob: I asked God to make it rain if Pretrib was truth, and guess what? It's raining!)
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, IT IS FINISHED: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. ---- NOTHING CAN BE ADDED
Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Are you referring to all pre-tribbers? If so, then you are completely off on your description of what I believe. There are many people who will die during the tribulation, who will be beheaded. These are not saved believers. These are those who refuse to worship the beast and take his mark.----- Revelation 13:16 And he causeth ALL, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
I totally agree with you. I believe the Bible teaches those faithful saints that are still alive when the trump sounds, will leave this earth and meet him in the air. non saints will face eternal death which is eternal sepparation from god
The Holy Ghost is called God, Jesus is God and the Father is also.
Acts 5:3-4 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to LIE to the HOLY GHOST, and to keep back part of the price of the land? ...thou hast not lied unto men, but unto GOD.
Each Person of the Godhead SPEAKS AUDIBLY in the Bible--
God the Father SAID of Jesus in Matthew 3:17 ..."This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Jesus SAID in John 10:30, " I and my Father are one."
The Holy Ghost SAID in Acts 13:2, ..."Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them."
Genesis 1:26-27, And God said, LET US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness...So God created man in his own image, in the image of God [not angels. the "us" can only refer to God.] created he him;
In the Old Testament, we find that God has a Son ( Proverbs 30:4, Psalm 2:7-12) and a Spirit ( Isaiah 40:13, 2 Samuel 23:2, Judges 3:10, etc.).
I Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
The Godhead and salvation.
The Holy Ghost reproves us, teaches us, guides us and testifies of Jesus Christ.
John 14:26, But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, HE shall testify of me:
It's a cheap shot to undermine the work of Christian Ministries. FYI I haven't had cable or streaming for the past 15 years! Satan owns cable.
You explain things from history. If you want to see some history in the making, go on Jerusalem post today: history of modern Jewish wars With the neighbors, Russia, China, Syria, Iran and 2 others.
People who argue the "Trib" theories are making bets in the dark.
The right one, is be ready TODAY. You are in danger. You've committed to a Trib theory; but you also convince others that it's the right one. If we chose wrong; we go through the Tribulation and those who believed you. God gives us the freewill to make Choices: just like Adam & Eve.
Everyone is held accountable for their choices!
People that visit this room: you make your own choice! Don't follow after others. Read the Bible and ASK the HOLY SPIRIT to teach you to understand it. Quit depending on others to choose for you. Choose Jesus. GO WITH HIM. He said be ready NOW.
Choose life with Jesus!
Bob: I asked God to make it rain if Pretrib was truth, and guess what? It's raining!
Are you referring to all pre-tribbers? If so, then you are completely off on your description of what I believe. There are many people who will die during the tribulation, who will be beheaded. These are not saved believers. These are those who refuse to worship the beast and take his mark.
There will be two witnesses, the 144,000 Jews who will be evangelizing, and also an angel flying in mid-heaven for the first 3-1/2 years warning people not to take the mark or worship the beast. The witnesses are not witnessing to believers. And the people who are being warned during the tribulation period are the ones who are going to have to make a decision. The church (All believers) already made their choice.
You say that "Every time we show plain scriptures of those dying in tribulation in revelation for the faith, it is explained away as apply to the "Jews" during that time."
Well, I would never try and explain it away as applying to just the Jews. It will apply to everyone on this planet, Jew and Gentile both, every single person, no matter who they are. These will all be non-believers who will have to go through this time of judgment. They are the ones who will have to make the choice to take the mark or not take it.
I do agree with you that many believers throughout the centuries have died for their faith, but we're talking about a whole different period of time, not the future 7-year period that is to come. I am one of those believers that knows full well that I can and should suffer for my faith. Jesus said we would suffer for our faith. But He never said I will suffer during the judgment that is to come on all those who reject Him. And like Paul, I would count it all joy to suffer for Christ's sake. However, my suffering is now, not alongside of a world that has rejected Christ and will suffer the consequence for it later.
Mishael, the trouble with pre tribbers is they do not understand the difference between the wrath of God and judgment.
10 of the 12 apostles died for their faith. Stephen died for his faith. Paul died for his faith.
Millions of Christians, in the last 100 years, died for their faith in communist Russia.
Yet pre tribbers do not feel they would ever have to suffer the same fate?
The wrath of the devil and the wrath of God is not the same, sadly this point is lost on most it seems.
Every time we show plain scriptures of those dying in tribulation in revelation for the faith, it is explained away as apply to the "Jews" during that time.
As if the Lord would never allow his church to suffer.
The Lord protected Noah IN the flood, the three Hebrew children IN the furnace of fire, Daniel IN the lions den. Yet Stephen died for his faith in Christ as did many millions of others, some in Communist Russia under Stalin in the last 100 years. Where was the rapture for them?
Acts 12:1 - Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
Act 12:3 - And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
It is the wicked who kill those who have the testimony of Jesus.
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Maybe watch TBN and the 700 club less and read the history of Christians under communism in Russia.
Joan, I think you've missed a very important part of this very sad account. So please don't be in tears about it. What happened in this account was that Ananias & Sapphira had conspired between themselves to declare to the apostles & believers that the money they were bringing as a gift was the full price of the sale of their land. This collection of monies (from Chapter 4:34), was being made for the poor believers in their midst. So people sold some of their possessions & brought in their money. However, Ananias & Sapphira, brought in only a part of their sale price but declared it as the full price - in other words they lied, & as Peter said, that they lied to the Holy Spirit.
So, this type of sin may be a 'human thing', but should never be seen or heard of amongst believers. It was absolutely nothing wrong if they said: "our sincere apologies folks, but we can't donate the full amount of the sale of our land since we need some of it for ourselves, but please accept this portion of that amount". Had they said this, all would have been well for them & the believers would have been blessed for their honesty. But, sadly, they chose to lie, & may have done so to 'save face' & appear to others as being as generous as everyone else.
Does this happen today? Of course, lies are prolific for all sorts of reasons, but to appear as someone better than others (i.e. to be admired or taken notice of), is this Christ's Spirit working in us or are we behaving in the 'flesh' & doing the works of Satan? I have heard, even from so-called Christians, that it is okay to tell a 'white lie' if it will help in some way. I'm sure you won't agree with this, as unbelievers, right from the top echelons of government to the lowliest impoverished street sleeper, freely engage in all manner of lying. The Lord sees & hears every word that we speak & knows every intent of the heart. For purity sake, Ananias & Sapphira were punished that the Church might learn the hard way.

The story of Ananias and Saphira has always upset me, every time I read it. It seems to me that what they did was a very human thing, and certainly it was a sin; but the other people were giving everything they had, so it would have been embarrassing to admit that this was only a part of the sale price that they were bringing. It seems to me like a very harsh punishment. I'm crying!
Pray these scriptures out loud, until you know them by heart.
Luke 6:18
as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed.
Luke 9:11
But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.
John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Acts 5:16
Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
2 Corinthians 4:10-11
always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
James 5:13-15
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Terry, I can't offer any one Scripture to answer your question but the two that come close to that, would be Romans 13:1-5 (speaks of our subjection to our governments & their laws) and Acts 5:29 (when apostle Peter retorted to the High Priest that they would obey God rather than man). So we should be obedient to the government, yet if its laws contradict God's Laws, then our obedience is to the Lord first & foremost. And those occasions would be, when the government forbids the preaching of the Gospel, our attending Church or other laws that work against Christians for the working of their faith. And this evil will ultimately be manifested at the appearing of the Anti-Christ.
Some countries are already facing some persecution now as non-Christian governments oppose the work of Christians. And of course, we see much of this now in the laws from our Western governments as they pass anti-Christian legislation & laws which go against the teachings from the Word. We are grieved by what we see & feel helpless to make a change (even our Christian politicians don't seem to be proactive in this), therefore we are cast upon Him for Strength, Grace & the knowledge that He will bring all sin to light, with many of our government heads facing the greater judgement for their wickedness. The Bible also speaks about those who have the rule over our souls (i.e. Church leaders) as they too will be held accountable for the quality of their leadership & care ( Acts 20:28 & Heb 13:17). So each of us will be accountable, but more so to those who have been placed in power & authority over us.
Joe , Acts 5:13 And the rest durst no man join himself to them means not any of the other people (believers) followed after or did what Ananias and his wife did to lie to the Holy Spirit. Because fear came over the others when they saw that they died. And verse 14, mearns that even more people became believers or saved because of what happened and they now truly know that God was with Peter and had given him Holy Spirit and it's Power.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Do really believe that Jesus is going to suffer His Bride; the Bride of Christ;
To go all the way through the Tribulation for the 7th Trumpet?
To be tempted to take Antichrist's Mark of the Beast?
To bow down and Worship the Antichrist?
To be hunted like an animal by Antichrist's evil agents and taken to either take The Mark or be beheaded for the Testimony of Jesus ?
To suffer screaming hunger and thirst because she has no way to get either?
All believers who have been born again throughout human history?
There is no scripture for what you preach.
Your love of your own point of view endangers others.

Luke 6:18
as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits.
