I was never to aware as now as to the reading of amos it , is a sorrowful passage hopefully with understanding of the holy spirit , God has become so angry that Judgement is passing many during this time and going to destroy many people who have made a mockery of him ,let us hear and know that he is God , before judgment comes upon us now ,like the earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes more than ever , mudslides , it speaks of a earthquake in this passage, all our weather conditions are strange all around the world at this time.

God 's warnings through Amos apply to America as well as Israel. Complacency by the churches and the citizens of this nation will bring God 's wrath down upon us. We 've allowed "POLITICAL CORRECTNESS " to be our bible instead of the Word of God.
  • Mitchell striggles on Amos 1 - 10 years ago
Amos like most prophets warned of gods coming punishment for sin and injustice, we in America must take noted lest we be judge with the same punishment
  • Harry Collins on Amos 1 - 10 years ago
God might seem to be silent for a long time over our wickedness but his judgements are inevitable, he knows the right time to execute it.
  • John martyr on Amos 1 - 10 years ago
Jesus fulfilled the law. You can 't mix two covenants. The righteous anger of our Father is poured out in the last days because people have rejected the work and sonship of Jesus. Our love has waxed cold. Our hearts are dull from the effects of sin. When are we gonna remember that Jesus paid for all sin, one time for ever, for everybody? Gods wrath is coming on those who reject Jesus and who are persecuting His children.Gods wrath will come..... and many of us will be killed for our faith in Christ..... but our Dad 's anger will destroy our enemies and we will get to work helping our Lord restore all things. Praise God. Our Dad is so awesome!!!!

this to me is pointed in the direction of future consequences of injustice to our Lord and his children and his ordinances
  • Debra Scales on Amos 1 - 10 years ago
This passage is an indictment against many nations America should be taking notes For three transgressions and for four are we guilty
  • ROY THOMAS on Amos 1:14 - 10 years ago
This is the language of the God who is a God of judgment. He knows the evil occurring in the cities and in the hearts of men. No one will escape the punishment that follows sin. "I will kindle a fire on the wall." He will do it. Men are like grass. Their bodies can feel the pain of oxidation. They die like grass. The eternal God will bring them up for judgment. He is the resurrection. No one will escape. On the wall there might be a whore house but from the whore house on the wall of Rabbah to the white house of the palace the judgment will fall and the whirling winds will herald the beginning of the end.

As in the days of Amos, Chapter 2 comments
" The Lord will roar from Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem. The anger of the Lord was kindle. As it is today, the anger of God is again kindle against the unrighteousness of this world and he will rule according to his will as it is in heaven upon this earth. Let us therefore study the word of God and pray for much understanding.

  • Leon lyons on Amos 1 - 11 years ago
Excellent, it’s the word of God in its awesomeness.
  • Denah on Amos 1 - 12 years ago
Just like in the olden days, people are transgressing God's laws and the Lord is punishing them. The Decalogue is Love to God and Love to Fellowmen. If we are guilty to even just one of them, we are guilty to the whole. Then we deserve death. Transgress the LAW=SIN=DEATH. But thanks to JESUS who died for all sinners. Praise His Wonderful Name!
  • André on Amos 1 - 12 years ago
    @Yvone,
In this section, GOD is pronouncing sentences to different nations of the region, because of what they respectively have done.
    It’s so simple, so clear.
    GOD bless you

I am not quite sure to be honest.. I am still praying and asking the Lord Jesus to reveal it's truths to my heart. Perhaps you could shed some light on this scripture..
  • Sis. Bonnie on Amos 1 - 13 years ago
As today's chosen disciples GOD has given us the authority to declare the HIS word to the world by example of walking, talking , and living up right in the sight of GOD and man, and declaring that the wages of sin is death, but gift of GOD is eternal life, therefore, we must choose GOD and live
  • Amos njah on Amos 1 - 13 years ago
'the words of Amos'are words of God. God only passed the words through Amos because in those days the Bible was not complete. Today we have the Word of God (the Bible) with us. We need to use, even when there is no Amos to proclaim what God says.
  • David on Amos 1 - 13 years ago
In this book God did not hide his anger against wrong doing
  • Ginny on Amos 1 - 14 years ago
The Jews had a tradition that Amos spoke with stammering lips, was this because of his heavy burden?
