Galatians 5:4 makes it very clear that we MUST continue to abide in Christ and relay on Him for salvation by faith in his blood and what he did on the cross for us! Those who start in the faith, being justified, but, walk away from Christ to trust in their own efforts are showing that they are not relying on Christ anymore, which is a very dangerous thing to do. think about it..... If Christ, who is the only way we will be saved ( Acts 4:12), becomes to no effect to us that can only mean we are in a state of condemnation..... We are fallen from grace. Paul is clearly talking to brothers and sisters in Christ, so this is a warning to saved Christians. Yes, while we can absolutely talk comfort in our salvation based on our faith in Christ, we must always remain steadfast and never turn away from the hope of the gospel ( Colossians 1:22-23). If we do, we will be cut off. However, just as the prodigal son was dead and made alive again ( Luke 15:11-32), so can the Christians who turn from Christ if they turn back to Him with a loving heart of faith in Him alone for salvation!

    Hi Bill,

Well I myself have only been saved(with the Lord) not even two full years yet. About the Angel of the LORD in the OT being Jesus Christ is not new to me. I just thought I'd post that as many have been trying to attack the deity of Christ recently.

Me stating what "came to light" was the verse in 1 Colossians 1:19. Which I just noticed the other night and just thought I'd post it.

Thank you for your kind reply Bill. God Bless.
  • Richard in Christ on Psalms 91 - 3 years ago
    Hello all,

I just thought I would state this detail of a verse that came to light.

    In Colossians 1:19. For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell;

As this is after speaking of Jesus Christ being the image of the invisible God and by Him and for Him were all things created. You may note that "the Father" is in italics in verse 19. Because in the Textus Receptus it is not there. It would actually read something like "for in Him it was pleasing that all the fullness dwelt".

Jesus Christ is more than a man and He existed before He was born. He was in on Creation. I can't understand how some would state that all the Words in His mouth were of His Father. Of coarse I understand the Father is in Him and giving Him all His Words to speak. Though you can easily see Jesus Christ is His own person with His own soul. Speaking to and of the Father constantly. Jesus Christ is most definitely ONE with the Father and just as much God though the Son. He is at the right Hand of God. A couple more verses stating He existed before He was born: John 3:12-13, John 6:38, John 5:45-47, John 6:62, John 8:58.

Maybe just to bring up the Angel of the LORD in the OT. Just one instance is Exodus 23:21. Not just a regular angel or even an archangel. How in Joshua 5:13-15. Where a Host of YHWH tells Joshua to take his shoes off for he is on Holy ground. As in Exodus 3:1-6. Again said to be an Angel of the LORD which is then stated as YHWH. God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Where Moses is told to take His shoes off. I would think because where YHWH is, is Holy ground.

I believe the Angel of the Lord in the OT is the pre incarnate Jesus Christ. Could I be wrong? Yes. As I have many other things to prove YHWH is not just one as normal people may perceive. Almighty God is ONE period.

I really don't know why people are trying to attack the deity of Christ. One day we will all have to stand before Him.

    God Bless.

There are numerous ways that God uses to "equip and prepare us" according to what the Lord Jesus prayed for.

At the base of all spiritual living & work, lies Christ's fully accomplished work on the Cross. And after successfully providing redemption & defeating the power of Satan to all who would believe, Jesus sent to us His Spirit to confirm, seal & establish our hearts in this new life.

So with the basis of the Cross & the Gift of the Holy Spirit, God's children are being prepared for higher service & a part of that preparation is the "equipping of the saints". Those believers who remain obstinate to the Spirit's urging, never grow spiritually, never receive the abundance of Heaven, & never impact others with Christ's Love.

The Spirit gives us much so that the Purposes of God are accomplished in the believer, in the Church & in the World. He has blessed us with those with particular Gifts for the building up of Christ's Church & to use to bless others. The power of the Gospel to the unsaved is found both in the power of God's Word & by the testimony of those so changed by it. The depth & richness from the Word comes from the Holy Spirit & in those whom He fills with such knowledge so that our knowledge might also increase. And not to mention the burden of praying saints, those giving of their substance, their time, their energies, & those who would get beside those under weight of some sin or temptation, all speak of the life-giving power of God to bring about His Purposes & blessings to others.

As Jesus prayed, "I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." John 17:23: to the end that the Church may be found 'unified with the Godhead in perfection'. And this was the desire of the apostles: Jude 24; Ephesians 5:27; Colossians 1:27,28; Romans 12:1: that in the Day of Presentation, the God's people might stand pure, holy, & unashamed.

You have a valid point , if the real Jesus is denied , just who are they believing in ? Will he deliver them ?

If anyone's Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible then they might as well be praying to a rock .

Yes there was a little town of Bethlehem!

Jesus is inherently God , and Gods son .

    I hope this helps .

It's all in the Bible to those that have ears !
  • Ron - In Reply on Colossians 1:15 - 3 years ago
Hey Tom, I'm not sure of the reward you say for obedience but here's a few of my thoughts and some scripture, in respect to all who have replied.

1John.2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Jesus called His Father His God. No one can deny the divinity of Jesus, the demons in scripture even knew who he was "the Son of the Most High". The Son was with the Father before the world because through the Son all was created. There is not any scripture that says how the Son began only He was the beginning of creation. The word Godhead is in the Bible 3 times "theots" meaning deity, divinity, "Theion" meaning Devine Being, both can be said of God and the Son of God without saying they are both God.

    God bless us, Ron

Jesus did the work the father sent him to do , undeniable, so is there reward for doing good in obedience to the father ? Yes of course . Did he earn it ? Yes of course his reward that is .

A few verses I read this morning as I opened the bible at random .

Malachi 2.10 Have we not all one father ? Hath not one God created us ? ....

    Malachi 3 . 6

For I am the Lord , I change not ; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed .

These verses certainly apply today , as sure as the Lord is whom he says He is !

I Bow to the Great I am and his son the Lord Jesus ! His word endures for ever ! Amen ...

    Tom,

Jesus is quite worthy of praise, honor, and glory. I think we would both agree to that. However, I'm not too sure that Jesus had to earn His position. I don't believe scripture backs up the idea of Christ having to earn anything. How the creator of the entire universe would have to earn His position would be hard for me to grasp.

Thank you also for sharing your thoughts!

    Hi Tom,

Do you mind If I humor you abit?

Do Christ have an actual birthday?

I'm sure that sounds silly because the scripture is clear he has no beginning,

How do you define a father and son relationship "Biologically"?

No doubt the father existed before his son, there's not way we can comprehend any other way, this is natural!

Now do we view God the father and Christ the son in the same biological way? NO! and that's unnatural.

God "IS" Everlasting and Jesus came out of the bosom of Everlasting.

When you make your argument you make it from an biological/natural point of view when their relationship is not biological or natural.

When you see father and son you comprehend that from the creatures stand point.

But when you see Jesus mentions the Father and son he says me and the father are One and if you seen me you seen the father, He says that from the Duel Creator standpoint

You're trying to grasp that Biologically but you can't because Father AND the Son is Everlasting!

Apart from what's given from that,

is what the scripture says directly.

Isaiah 9:6. The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Revelation 1:8. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, (the Almighty) "Look up the all mighty in the greek"

Malachi 2:17. Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Malachi 3:1. Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

YOU CANT LOOK THE OTHER WAY AS IF THESE VERSES DON'T EXIST. YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER THEM.

TELL ME HOW DO YOU INTERPRET THEM???

    AND THERE IS MANY MORE.

There were Christian believers from times past that left this confession of faith in 1632.

"We also believe and confess that before His ascension, He instituted His New Testament, and, since it was to be and remain an eternal Testament, that, He confirmed and sealed the same with His precious blood, and gave and left it to His disciples, yea, charged them so highly with it, that neither angel nor man may alter it, nor add to it, nor take away from it; and that He has caused the same, as containing the whole counsel and will of His heavenly Father, as necessary for salvation, to be proclaimed in His name by His beloved apostles, messengers, and ministers- whom He called, chose, and sent into all the world for that purpose- among all peoples, nations, and tongues, and repentance and remission of sins to be preached and testified of; and that he accordingly has therein declared all men without distinction, who through faith, as obedient children, heed, follow, and practice what the same contains, to be His children, and lawful heirs; this excluding no one from the precious inheritance of eternal salvation, except for the un-believing, and disobedient, the stiff-necked and obdurate, who despise it, and incur this through their own sins, thus making themselves unworthy of eternal life." Jeremiah 31:31 Hebrews 9:15-17 Matthew 26:28 Galatians 1:8 1 Timothy 6:3

Yes Jesus inherited from the father as an obedient first son .

Not only was Jesus born of the father , but he earned the position by his completing the work The father sent him to do !

Jesus is so worthy of his highest position as Lord of lords and king of kings ! Awesome !! And only he could have done it , all the glory to God whom made it possible. We can only scratch the surface of this immeasurable work of salvation that was Gods plan and Jesus wonderful accomplishment. Thanks for the thoughts on this worthy subject , PTL ! When we can comprehend some of this it should cause us to worship , and never stop , so worth pondering dear reader .

Hello Tom, So true there are very many Scriptures where God communicates with His people His will and he refers to Himself as the Lord and God singularly to them and stands before their enemies and says the same. God here reveals two truths He loves His people in the flesh and He is Holy and not approachable by man in the flesh. Yet He wants to lead them by the law to repentance in His Son revealed by the prophets, later as a babe, then as His beloved Son, and finally as a crucified Savior. This aspect of God is his Mercy which is Jesus Christ. This part of God covered the law where God could approach man in the flesh and even after Calvary dwell in His people in the flesh as the Holy Ghost, another aspect of God. Three parts of God and three stages of salvation which is life everlasting.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Colossians 1:15 - 3 years ago
    Tom,

Yes, there is one God, I agree. And He is unchanging, I agree. I also know that Jesus Christ is the HUIOS, the inheritor of all things from the Father, and Jesus is the head over all things to the church as given to us in Ephesians 1:22. Once Christ ascended up into His position, all things are now put under the feet of Christ, and all must answer to Christ. Now concerning His headship, it says "And gave Him to be the head over all things with respect to the church."

So it is right to say that God is head over all, and that Jesus Christ is head over all because Jesus Christ is the Huios of God, the one who was in position to inherit all things from the Father. And Jesus is now the head over all things because He is God the Son, and the Son has inherited all things from the Father!

Adam read the Old Testament when God the I am that I spoke often about how He is God alone . Many times throughout . You must keep that in context when reading the New Testament or you will be confused , it seems to contradict in the new , but God never changes . That we know for certain .
  • Tom - In Reply on Colossians 1:15 - 3 years ago
I believe that God is head over all and singular , making him the unchanging creator as he said many times in the KJV .

    Tom,

Although it is very easy to twist the scriptures from our English bibles because English is a very general language and very easy to twist, a person who speaks of a Godhead is not twisting scripture at all. In our English bible, there are many words that have multiple meanings, and that's why we often debate and have disagreements on what the English text actually is saying. We have to keep in mind that what we are reading in our English text is a translation from Greek.

As you say, the word "Godhead" is not found in the bible, at least not in our English bible. But I would argue that Godhead is found in the bible. It is found three times in the King James.

Acts 17:29 says, "Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the THEIOS (English translation=GODHEAD) is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

Romans 1:20 says, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and THEIOTES (GODHEAD); so that they are without excuse:

Colossians 2:9 says, "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the THEOTES (GODHEAD) bodily.

So Godhead is found in the scripture. It's in these three places I just shared with you.

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Luke 1:35 "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

John 15:26 "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:"

1 John 5:8 "And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."

1 John 5:10 "He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son."

1 John 5:11 "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son."

Man is also made in the image of God and has only 1 head and 1 personality.

So God has only 1 head seems man is the proof of that .

The Holy is certainly God but a Godhead is not found in the bible , unless scriptures are twisted .
  • Carleton - In Reply on Colossians 1:15 - 3 years ago
...and the third part of the Godhead is the Holy Spirit who is the Witness and Comforter that God and Jesus Christ are true and everlasting.

    :)
  • Tom on Colossians 1:15 - 3 years ago
Jesus is the image of the invisible God . God is spirit and can not be seen , so Jesus is Gods representative in flesh , the same as God because Jesus is Gods son . Yet in flesh and an image of God .

Yet God remains who he always was and is invisible and Spirit .

So we have 2 identities. Both identical as God but one is father and the other is son . One in God but 2 in identities. God was never in flesh until Jesus . It's really simple but so much confusion on it .

    It's a father and son .

Msconnie, may the Spirit (truth) grace you with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

Very FEW understand the kingdom or heaven or HEAVEN or THE GOSPEL or the good news.

    WHERE DOES GOD DWELL?

Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God IS WITHIN YOU.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God DWELLETH in you?

1 Kings 8:27 But will God indeed DWELL ON THE EARTH? behold the HEAVEN and HEAVEN OF HEAVENS cannot contain THEE; how much less this HOUSE (TEMPLE) that I have builded?

Hebrews 3:6 For Christ is a Son over his own HOUSE; whose HOUSE WE ARE....

Hebrews 9:1-2 .....WE have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the THRONE ( Isaiah 66:1) of the majesty in the HEAVENS; (YOU)

(vs 2) A minister of the sanctuary, and TRUE TABERNACLE, which the Lord pitched and not man.

Psalms 148:4 Praise him, YE HEAVEN OF HEAVENS...

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in HEAVEN....

    Hebrews 12:23

    Romans 8:29

    Colossians 1:27 .....CHRIST IN YOU

You never die if ye are born of the SPIRIT you just change bodies.

    Thank you once again Andrew.

To re-state: I certainly don't believe in a "triune co-equal triple god". There is only One God from Whom goes His Word & His Spirit. And John 1:1 states that that Word was with God & was God. And then verse 14 states that the Word was made flesh. That Word has now been brought into the World as Jesus. So who is this Jesus? Even Colossians 1:15-19 tells us that Jesus (the Word) was involved in creation & now is the Head of the Body.

You said that 'God created everything in Genesis 1'. "He spoke it into existence. The Son of God didn't fall out of His mouth." Was Jesus the Son of God in creation? No. Only the Word of God was spoken in creation. But God chose to send forth His Word "in due time" clothed in flesh for the suffering of death. I know nothing of the "beguilement of Rome & her sorcerers", but the Scriptures reveal who Jesus is, "the Word of God made man". If this simple yet profound Truth can be made to mean something else, then I would have to query so much of the Bible that might have other such secret hidden meanings, making it altogether useless to me, leaving me floundering in confusion.

Even 1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." "Three, Three". Why is it even in there, if it were not important to reveal the three-fold Nature of the One God? And that to me (without the intrusion of the supposed trickery of Rome), is clear evidence of a Triune God: One God revealed in His Fullness: Father, Word & the Holy Spirit - all Three in operation for the salvation of mankind & no doubt, in the final judgement upon the World. Blessings.

As no one person is exactly the same as another. Just as well there is many different beliefs to interpreting the Scriptures. Which is said to have no private interpretation. ( 2 Peter 1:20-21.

As this has been discussed before I will put my portion. I do not say Jesus Christ is God the Father. He is the only begotten Son of God. Though He was more than just a "sinless" man. He was part man part God. Born of a virgin who was conceived by the Holy Ghost ( Matthew 1:20, Luke 1:30-35. Even at age twelve He astonished people who heard Him. He knew God was His Father then Luke 2:47-49. To me showing He did not just receive the Holy Ghost(Spirit of God) at His water baptism in the Jordan. If the sign of the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove was for just a sign for John or for His supernatural powers only God knows. John 1:32-34.

If some think that believing Jesus Christ is more that just a man is taking something away from the Father. God wants us to honor His Son as He is the only way to the Father. Scriptures pointing to Him being more than "just" a man John 3:12-13, John 3:33-35, John 3:38, John 8:54-58, John 17:3-5, Colossians 1:12-20, Hebrews 1:1-4.

Also titles Jesus Christ, the Son of God, uses like Alpha and Omega(first and last) in the beginning of Revelation. The Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, being King of kings and Lord of Lords Revelation 17:14. Also the Word of God and King of kings and Lord of lords given to the man riding the white horse out of Heaven. I believe is Jesus Christ.

Besides all of the miracles He performed. Him being transfigured on the mountain Matthew 17:2.

There is one True Holy Living Almighty God. Saying the Father, Word, and Holy Ghost are one. Also as how many verses I have that state the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God, and the Holy Ghost are in us after being saved. To me showing Jesus Christ is the Word of God and one with God and the Holy Ghost.

Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven.

OnlytruthintheworldKJV, you were concerned of the time and dates on the 70th week ending and feel there is 3 years left. There are not any dates or time in the scriptures so we have to look at the recorded dates in history. This is the closest dates I can find in history records but it should be within a margin of erra, may it answer your doubts.

The 70 weeks of 7= 490 years. 483 years when Jesus was baptized. History places this around 29AD. Jesus' ministry was 3 years by the number of Passovers Jesus went to according to scriptures. We are at 486 years. Stephen's death is recorded around 36AD. This is around the same time Jesus stopped confirming the New Covenant through is Apostils and Peter had his dream and went to Cornelius and the gospel went to the Gentiles.

This prophecy was determined upon Israel and Jerusalem not the world, and these six things were to be fulfilled. See for yourself if these were fulfilled by Jesus. 1 To finish the transgression ( Isaiah 53:5, 8) ( Hebrews 9:15-18) 2. To make an end of sins ( Matthew 1:21) ( Hebrews 10:8-11) ( 1 John 3:5) ( Romans 8:3) 3. To make reconciliation for iniquity ( Colossians 1:20-22) ( Isaiah 53:6) ( Titus 2:14) ( 2 Corinthians 5:18-19) 4. To bring in everlasting righteousness ( Romans 5:17-21) ( 2 Corinthians 5:21) 5. To seal up vision and prophecy ( Daniel 9:23) ( John 6:27) ( Mark 1:14-15) 6. To anoint the most holy ( Hebrews 9:6-14).

The 3 years in Revelation starts when Satan is cast down and gives his power to the beast, not connected with the 70 weeks. If not clear its ok.

    God bless Andrew, Ron

Revelation 15:1 ....having the seven last plagues, in them (plagues) is filled up the wrath of God.

These plagues had to be fulfilled before the kingdom of heaven is possible.

(vs 2) The sea is symbolic of people ( Revelation 17:15) the fire is symbolic of Christ ( Hebrews 12:29) these have become one with Christ ( John 17:21)( Ephesians 2:15).

(vs 3-4) The praises to God for their salvation.

(vs 5) Access to the temple is near. The temple is symbolic of Christ. Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up ( John 2:19)

(vs 6-7) The wrath of God is now ready to be poured out.

(vs 8) .....no man is able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels be fulfilled.

Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him...

THE WRATH OF GOD WAS POURED OUT ON CHRIST, the last plague being death; now we can enter the temple (CHRIST IN YOU AND YOU IN CHRIST) Christ has become our PASSOVER LAMB, death has passed over us.

Hebrews 11:5 By FAITH Enoch was TRANSLATED that he should not see death .....

Colossians 1:13 .... and hath TRANSLATED us into the kingdom of his dear Son
