  • Steve on Colossians 1 - 10 years ago
This chapter, like others, describes the Father as God the eternal architect with the plan and Christ as God the eternal builder with the power to enact the plans. The Holy Spirit is in the white spaces.
  • Abiodun on Colossians 1:15 - 10 years ago
According to col 1 15 Jesus is the exact representation of the father God .To me d image of God here talks about the nature and attributes of God. And no one has ever shown love and demonstrates power like Jesus did.
  • Rev. Autrey on Colossians 1 - 10 years ago
Colossians 1 16 17 "Christ himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven and earth, the things we can see and the things we can 't the spirit world with its kings and kingdoms, its rulers and authorities all were made by Christ for his own glory. He was before all else began and it is his power that holds everything together. " Those who say that Christ is not God have bought into the JW heresy. This belief system has been around since the mid 300 's, started by Dr. Arius of Egypt. Arius said that God is different from Jesus. He also said that Jesus is a lesser creature than God, and not of the same substance as God. It was Satan 's attempt to make us believe that God had not fulfilled his promise to come and save us. But sadly, many Christians still believe this lie. We believe it to our own dismay, though. Here is the simple solution to this mystery. God and Jesus are the same. That is, when God sppeared on earth, he said, "I am Jesus. " The Father is God 's other personality, the way God directs his affairs, but Jesus is the way God speaks to us, and the way God made all things. Think about this, and it will all make sense. The bottom line is, we can 't have two Gods. This is not Christian thought. It comes straight out of the mind of Satan. May God bless you!

What is the mystery Paul is talking about in verse 27?
  • Phyllis wheeler on Colossians 1:15 - 10 years ago
I total agree with Kelly, people need to stop adding on to the word of God, Jesus never said he was God, He said he was the son of man, God was his father, and he also said he was a prophet.
  • Greg ormsbee on Colossians 1 - 10 years ago
HI, THIS CHAPTER HELPS ME REALIZE, JESUS AN GOD ARE THE SAME.... IT IS JUST HARD UNDERSTANDING JESUS SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, SINCE HE IS GOD...
  • Keith on Colossians 1:11 - 10 years ago
Christ gives us the power that sustains us to stay in God 's will and please God because being anxious is the opposite of patience, grumbling is a sign of lack of longsuffering spirit and thus there is no joy hence i love Christ for His power that causes us to be joyfull in all suffering and waiting patiently through all things.

  • Gwendolyn on Colossians 1:15 - 10 years ago
to me it means that he is perfect not good but perfect in every way the word good means superior to something else when compared to other things but the word perfect means unlike unblemished without flaw complete in the Fullness of Jehovah God incorruptible that is why in Col 1 19 it states that it pleased Jehovah to have all His fullness dwell in Him Christ not made by hands or conceived by a human but by almighty God Luke1 35 The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the Shadow of the Highest will overshadow you therefore also that Holy Spirit will be called the Son of God not sure but if Jehovah is incorruptable that which of Him must also be incorruptable pure logic if you asked me

That is to say,Jesus Christ is our Eternal Lord and God and Saviour. His essence,Power and Authority remain the same even before the beginning of all things, both those in Heaven and on earth and beneath the earth or the sea.Though all things shall pass but He is Everlasting God. He is known as the Mighty God and Everlasting Father( Isaiah 9:6),meaning He ever existed and created all things in His power ( John 1:1-3, Colossians 1:16). He is the Sustainer of all things ( Colossians 1:17),without Him nothing will exist ,including dark spirits. He is the Saviour of the world(Redeemer). He is the only Loving God who laid His life down to save all men from the death penalty of their sins when everybody had gone astray( Isaiah 53:4-6)-Behold,the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world! ( John 1:29). He is the Supreme Judge for all humans( Matthew 25:31-46),and the Sovereign Lord Who is to come and reward the good deeds of men,and punish men for their wickedness( Revelation 22:12-13).

Truly a misquoted verse used by many people. The truth shall "make"you free. The one word "make" has a strong meaning, and when changed makes a huge impact . Instead of "make" it is stated "set". When something is set that means it is able to return back to where it came from, when you are made/make you are transformed, made a new. You don't have the ability to return to what you were. Once Christians see the importance of the word "make", they will see that God has equipped them with every tools necessary to live on this Earth in order to be a strong witness. The same "make" is used toward Abraham when God promised to make him a great nation and make his name great. God didn't set him a great nation or set his name great.
Christians have been "made free", Romans 8:1-2. It is important to cultivate wisely the God given talents and spirit He has already given when you
    accepted Him. Romans 8:13-17.
Not only was God's plan to "make" people free, but to make Christians perfect, in order to bring Him glory. Christians CAN have the same testimony as Christ did on Earth, because He is Christ in them, Hebrews 13:20-21 Colossians 1:10-11.
"If the Son therefore shall make you free, he shall be free indeed." John 8:36

A great and blissful hope of joining our LORD and Saviour in HIS kingdom through HIS great love of REDEMPTION of those who asked for redemption by cleansing sins in HIS precious blood and preparing us to face boldly the powers of darkness.

Listening to Joyce Meyer this morning brought me to read this chapter, I was have problems with being steadfast in the gospel. After reading Colossians 1, I don't have to wounder about what peoples think, it reminded me to keep my mind on Jesus Christ, know that if I do so, I have the hope of Glory. Amen!!!....
  • John Apid on Colossians 1:27 - 11 years ago
    Christ in us, the hope of glory;

Glory - manifestation of the attribute/nature of God.

Therefore, "Christ in me, the hope of glory" is also to say that, "Christ in me, the hope of manifesting the attribute/nature of God".
It can be also, "Christ in me, the hope of manifesting God".

If Christ is in you, there is hope for the manifestation of God through you. Amen

Versus 9 is the versus that stands out to me: (For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;) Which reminds me that my prayers should be about: God filling us with the desire to be filled with the knowledge of his will, with the correct interpretation of it....... Definitely extremely important in this walk with God, that we don't become ministers of false doctrine, and that we don't be ignorant ourselves; that we spent the rest of our days pleasing God, or at least have more opportunity to.
