To A disciple: I appreciate your comments, and I can see your passion for the Word of God. How I wish more people would study to know Him, the only true God Jn. 17:3. Back to Temple sacrifices: When Jesus died the veil was rent ( Matt. 27:51) and the Shekinah glory was gone; indicating the end of the Aaronic priesthood. Ap. Paul explains that in Romans, Galatians, Colossians and Hebrews.

(Cont’d) In Heb. 7:27 he says: He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself; and 9:28 Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many. Erroneous understanding of this led to belief in Transubstantiation and the desire of many to rebuild the Temple; in a sense rejecting Christ and His sacrifice, as being insufficient.

Daniel (cont.) As far as learning to use the Hebrew and Greek Lexicons, I find it VERY enjoyable, and a HUGE benefit in that it really helps me understand the clear meaning in the text as it was given to the Prophets and Apostles to write; AS GOD MEANT THEM TO BE UNDERSTOOD! Also having access to a few good Dictionaries! As Christ's Redeemed and as His servants it is our honor and duty to study!

Hi Daniel; Back to our discussion.. I understand perfectly and know the Truth that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the Complete and Perfect Meaning signified by the animal sacrifices. But the Apostles and Hebrew Saints still observed them till the Temple was destroyed and the Services abandoned. In its Divinely appointed role it is no competition for where we put our faith for salvation.

Steve: Interesting addition Rom 12:1. Presenting our body as a living sacrifice also involves death: the death of the old man Rom 6:6. But even this type of sacrifice will cease at the time of Christ’s second coming, when we will receive new immortal bodies 1Cor 15:51-53. Our body, is the temple of the Holy Spirit: we need to take care of it; by not eating or drinking unhealthy and unclean foods.

To A disciple, sorry to state the obvious: Can you try sending part 1 again?

Daniel (continuing..) Lets look at what we know about the 1000 Years: The wicked will have been removed, and the devil locked up and sealed in the pit of the abyss; the government shall be given to the Saints under Jesus the King of all the earth; the Law of God will be the Law of all Nations, enforced by an iron rod; those born during the 1000 Years will only know a world ruled in righteousness.

To A disciple: V. good point. I believe we need to reconsider our definition/interpretation of words like, FOREVER, ETERNITY, EVERLASTING, etc. Four things define a word: What God meant by it, how the writer understood it and expressed it, how it was translated after thousands of years, and what is the meaning for us today. They should all match; unfortunately, sometimes they don’t. (see cont'n)

(Continued) Every time I look at the Hebrew language, I shiver: almost every word has 5-15 different meanings. You are right: the plan of salvation was made before the foundation of the world 1Pet. 1:19, 20. Look at it this way: a sacrifice involves death. Christ came to solve the problem of sin and death, not to prolong it “forever”. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 1Co 15:26

Daniel; Yes, by the way you look at it, absolutely! But why does the LORD say so many times in the Law, that This Shall Be A Statute Forever Unto The Children Of Israel? Did He not know that He was going to come in the flesh and completely make it full? That doesn't seem likely! Maybe if we understand it as sacrifices were originally intended, instead of the religious icon they became...?

Re. Ezekiel ch. 40-48 I can’t imagine Jesus, our High Priest in heaven, interceding in our behalf with His own blood; being helped by the sons of Zadok ch.40, presenting animal blood

Daniel; Your Welcome! Its in the last chapters, from 40 on; where the Prophet is brought in visions to see the City, and the Angel (?) is measuring and describing everything.. Very interesting, but hard to picture exactly. Talk to you soon.

To A disciple: No, I was not answering your question. Rom. 2 comments were published ahead of your comment; but for some reason yours got sandwiched between. Your question is loaded; I need some time to review the book of Ezekiel before I can give an informed answer. Thanks

Daniel; I can't tell by your last post if you were answering me or just continuing your thoughts from before. Jesus didn't take away the Law at all by His work on the cross, but completely filled it up! After the Apostles were already going out to the Gentiles, they were still observing the Law of Moses, "knowing that a man is NOT justified by the works of the Law, but by faith in the Lord Jesus."

In Romans 2:12, 13 Apostle Paul, referring to the moral laws, says: For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but THE DOERS OF THE LAW SHALL BE JUSTIFIED. Comment: The 10 Commandments were never nailed to the cross, or abolished, they must be obeyed.

Daniel (cont.); My thoughts about the things written in Ezekiel indicate another meaning, or rather ADDED meaning, to the sacrifices and priesthood. We know that Christ is the fullness and perfection of what the types were for teaching; and the sacrifice itself was in its first form a token for Remembrance. I myself don't have any issues with sacrifices as if they would take away from THE PERFECT.

Hi Daniel; That is the Eternal Truth of God! Jesus Christ the Son of God loved us and gave Himself for us a perfect work to redeem us to God for ever! But about the sacrifices under the priesthood of Aaron; in Ezekiel is described a future where the LORD IS sitting King over all the earth from His Palace in Jerusalem, and the sacrifices and first priestly services continuing! Any thoughts on this?
  • Brother Daniel FC on Colossians 2 - 7 years ago
There’s a big difference bet. the 10 Commandments and Ceremonial Laws. The sacrificial system of burnt offerings was designed to point the sinner to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ. It is the blood of Christ ONLY that can cleanse us from all unrighteousness; not the blood of animals: This is why WE don’t need to bring animal sacrifices anymore. The price for our salvation has been paid in full.

Some are beguiled in thinking that they can keep the spirit of the Law without paying attention to the letter of the Law: it is impossible! If anything, the spirit of the Law is more difficult to keep... but not impossible. For example, Jesus said: whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart ( Mat 5:28). He expands the meaning of the letter.

Emanuel; But if you transgress the commandments YOU ARE UNDER THE LAW! The grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ wrought in our hearts by faith, is evidenced by repentance and conversion and the resulting NEWNESS OF LIFE AFTER THE IMAGE OF GOD OUR FATHER, by obedience! Grace is not a trick of the mind or a manipulating of words; but the reflection of the character that ESTABLISHES THE LAW!

Ceremonial or 10 commandments I'm not under either THEIR BOTH FOR THE NATION OF ISRAEL. It's not OK to break any commandment because their are instructions in righteousness their guidelines. Christ ended the law when he said IT IS FINISHED. Then the LAW OF GRACE BEGAN. It's now the spirit of the law not the letter (legalism) that's now in effect the church age

No the schoolmaster is the ten commandments you need to STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD. The sole purpose of the ten commandments is to TEACH OR SCHOOL you how ALL HAVE SINNED and there is NONE righteous no not one

Isa. 66:17 says, They that sanctify themselves... eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. 1Tim. 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Comment: the pig and the mouse/rat in the O.T. are the same in the N.T. God never sanctified either of them: They remain unclean and an abomination, unfit to eat.

Emanuel: The Schoolmaster mentioned in Gal. 3:24 refers to the Ceremonial Law; not the Ten Commandments. Why would Ap. Paul list 17 moral sins in Gal. 5:19-21, which would bar the entrance into God's Kingdom? After all, which of the Ten Commandments is OK to break? I know; you just like better the Day of the Sun instituted by man, than the Saturday Sabbath, instituted by God. See also Rom. 7:7

Let no man judge you in meat
or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, the new moon, or the sabbath days, which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.

Daniel; Jesus did not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets: He came not to abolish, but to completely make full! Yet there are multitudes of misled who really think that nothing in the Old Testament has anything to do with them or the world at all! He that despises the Word shall be destroyed! Israel who is in disobedience of unbelief is under the curse of the broken Covenant until they repent!
