    When arguing about this verse, please lets not be blinded by our perception of thus says our mind but let 's invite christ to reveal the hidden meaning of these wonderful precepts of apostle Paul.For instance if we view the chapter from verse one Paul points JESUS AS owner of wisdom and knowledge so why must we think that paul considered our conditions and why not others and that is lack of brotherly love. friends we can 't justify ourselves, salvation is by grace when the sinner has been fully equipped on the momentum of sin commited so why must we do things that will cause our brothers sin.AMEN

    One s comments on 6 17 2013 Who said you have to keep the commandments in order to be saved It is just not there Of course you keep the commandments because you are saved However if you don t keep the Ten Commandments you will not inherit the Kingdom of God according to Galatians 5 19 21 Adultery fornication uncleanness lasciviousness Idolatry witchcraft hatred variance emulations wrath strife seditions heresies Envyings murders drunkenness revellings and such like of the which I tell you before as I have also told you in time past that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God You are quoting Matthew 22 37 40 40 On these two commandments HANG all the law and the prophets This means that by keeping the Ten Commandments you show your love to God and to your fellow human beings To HANG doesn t mean to replace or delete I sense a Pentecostal approach to keeping the Law of God

    The 10 commandments are at the same time the 10 divine charges against man as Jesus demonstrated. For instance he says if you look at a woman with an adulterous eye, you have already committed adultery in your hear. Now this leaves a guilty verdict upon one. With this in mind we can appreciate Colossians 2:14.

    Two factors to to consider when pondering this verse; 1.No MAN will take Jesus sheep. 2. We are not of this world (now) therefore cannot be spoiled by it. Old man DIED, not of the flesh but Spirit. Not under Law, but Grace if saved. >>>>John10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
    >>>>This V speaks of the "World"? 1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. >>>>>>>>> Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.>>>>>Fear Not Stand Fast. This speaks of wolves who come to kill. They cannot kill the saved. Life Eternal is why. It can't be shaken.

    I fully agree with Ed's i think that is the meaning intended,that watever we do we shuld do it right in fear of God such that no one if given the chance to judge us wuld find us guilty of any fault.

    Romans 4:15 is the heart of the gospel. This is what Christ did at the cross, he nailed the law to the cross ( colossians 2:14). Therefore we do not sin and cannot sin, because their is no law to sin against. Therefore no one sins. The churches have done the opposite, telling us we sin and are sinners, everyone is a saint they just do not know it.

    Colossians 2 vs 6
    Since we have received christ as the Lord and our personal saviour, the next thing we need to do is to work in him. And how do we work in him? by obeying his word, doing his will, being commiiteed to the works of the ministry,preaching the gospel and many more. so these are the ways we can work in him; not receiving him and then we folding our hands and relaxed.

    In Christ it where all fullness of Godhead dwells bodily(in character, and the church is also fully clothed with to power of God which is without limit, because it is in Christ, this power makes the church to be complete in all things without any lack, therefore all powers and authorities submit to Christ; the Lord of Lords,as a result nothing can stand against the Church that is aware of this power.

    Contrary to brother Ed's take on this, it seems obvious that Paul is telling us not to allow anyone to judge us as to what we may or may not eat or drink. It has nothing to do with making sure that we can't be found guilty - it says LET no man (no one) judge you! We are not only not bound by the old covenant taboos, we are not subject to anyone else's judgments.

    I am so thankful that I know who Jesus Christ is. He’s the father, the son & the Holy Spirit. There is a plan of salvation that we must follow and it's clearly stated in Acts 2:38. I don't understand how people can believe that there are 3 separate entities in the Godhead. Colossians 2:9, "For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily". Why do you think Jesus was crucified? He was proclaiming that he was God. ( Romans 10 verse 13 states that he who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved, verse 14 how can people call on the Lords name when they don't believe who Jesus is. HE chooses and sends preachers, to those who haven't heard yet who Jesus Christ is. Most preachers decide themselves that they want to preach.)

    Our lives are only complete in Christ. Our plan works out when we are in Christ. And when we are in Christ we are seated with him high above all principalities and powers. No sickness, no poverty, no family problem, no nothing will ever overcome since we are in Him. He said apart from me you are can do nothing.

    regarding verse 16

    it is unfortunate that some try to justify this clear statement, to only mean what might make them feel better. "...or of the sabbath days:"

    it is also funny to know that Jesus Christ somehow after resurrection appeared on the first day of the week more than once. Romans 14 also seems to be problematic for everyone that seems to honour a single day. romans14:23 "23 And he that doubteth is ****ed if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin."

    If the Word says In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead then it is true- Gd is not a man that He should lie 8)

    God also said " If you love me you will keep my commandments", Also, "Faith establishes the Law".

    Well, first of all it mentions "Judge" To me this means that you can be found guilty of something.
    So, this passage is saying make sure no man can find you guilty of violating these things.

    @Rob,
    Regarding Colossians 2:16: “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days”. You say: “This is why we Christians do not keep the Sabbath, it is of the OLD covenant”. The “Old Covenant” contained the Ten Commandments written by God on two tables of stone. It included the forth, which begins with the words: “Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy”. Are you saying that “the New Covenant” written on our hearts would have only nine commandments? So, you are taking out the only commandment that says “Remember”, and tell me to forget it? Some Christians imply that under the “New Covenant” we don’t have to keep any commandments, because now we are under grace. That cannot be so. Here is what Apostle Paul says about the Law, in Romans 7:7: “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law”. Verse 12: “Wherefore the law is holy and the commandment holy, and just, and good…” Jesus Himself declared: “If ye love me, keep my commandments”, John 14:15. Not only that, He bids us to: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…”, Matthew 28:19, 20. My conclusion is that the statement of Colossians 2:16 must mean something else.

    Mankind was subjected to eternal death through the fall of Adam and Eve, but the coming on board of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and His subsequent crucifixion brought back our rights to the heavenly inheritance. He nailed our failures, loosed the chains that connected us to the world and He connected us to Himself. Praise the Lord. Oh! Come on let us rejoice; He is the Commander of the armies of heaven, He blotted everything that was fighting us. Yes, he won the battle for us at the Cross. Believe me He did it. Yes, He suffered it for us, He carried the humiliation in our positions. Paul rightly pointed out that to the Philippians in Philippians 2:6-10. After all He was given the Name above every name, believe me. Mordecai and Esther did it, they reversed the cruel anticipation of the king's aid Haman. He cancelled them for us, yes, for us. FOR YOU AND ME. AMEN.

    @Bethany and Bill,
    On verse 29, the 3 distinct persons of the godhead ( Acts 17:29, Romans 1:20, Colossians 2:9) do always act as one in unison, they never act separate from the other persons in the godhead. 3 in 1 person ( I John 5:7-8).
  • Jay on Mark 11 - 12 years ago
    On verses 13 and 24:
    1. The fig tree represents the nation of Israel;
    2. Jesus saw it afar off like when people view religion, but when a person takes the time to investigate religion closely they begin to see it for what it is (false Christianity). The leaves represent religion that is drenched in the law and dressed in the unbiblical traditions of men ( Colossians 2:8). True spiritual fruit ( Matthew 7:16) comes from the grace of our lord Jesus Christ working through us, after being born again ( Galatians 5:22-26). Of course Jesus did what he always does to nations, denominations, and individuals that are trying to produce heavenly fruits through fleshly seeds, he places an ichabod curse on that unfruitful religious situation.
  • Jay on Mark 4 - 12 years ago
    @ St Daniels,
    This individual is correct in that we must be born again to receive the truth of understanding and wisdom of God's holy word ( John 3:3-5; 4:24).
    1. The bible is written for believers after they have been regenerated;
    2. But one does not stay saved by their works of goodness (righteousness);
    3. We are saved by the faith of Jesus Christ ( Hebrews 12:2), all we do is ask for it ( Romans 10:10-13). It is his (Jesus) faith that saves us and keeps us saved ( Hebrews 12:2);
    4. Anyone that believes you can lose your salvation after being born again, does not comprehend the meaning of being born again ( Colossians 2:9-13);
    5. Jesus is eternal and when you receive him as lord and savior, your become eternal (new nature II Corinthians 5:17). Your flesh is still able to sin, but the new seed you have received does not sin ( I John 3:9). Flesh and blood will not inherit the kingdom of God ( John 6:63; I Corinthians 15:50). A new baby is born with a live body, live soul, and a dead spirit. When a person is born again they now have a living soul, a living spirit, and a dead body. There is a trade off at the moment of salvation ( Ephesians 2:1-10).

    @Chris,
    1 John 1:5 says “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” So God is not the author of bad things.
    But as people in the Old Testament had very little knowledge Satan, who is the author of evil, they attributed all; and the good, and the bad to God. And that is a Figure of Speech (way of expressing an idea that may be different from its literal meaning). And the Figure of Speech is called Idiom of Permission.
    That Idiom is found in places like Matthew 6:13 where it says “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.‘’ Which would literally mean God may lead us into temptation; which the Bible denies God would do in James 1:13, as it says “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:”
    In fact the devil is responsible for all evil, and Jesus Christ made him known to the public (Church), Colossians 2:15. Satan can no more hide.
    God bless you.

    I agree that the simple behaviour of men who worship other spirits and things than the true God are to be rejected as false. I have seen the mild mannered sadhus and priets who walk about barefooted and barefaced teach things that ought not be taught, including privileges of the so-called "holy ones" to have access to the women who come to the temples in early mornings, etc. Teachers who say they love God and walk (in false humility) contrary to righteousness and to the teachings and life of the Saviour, and exploit people of earnest faith in God, will be abandoned to eternal darkness, and the lake of fire, though I do not understand there terms fully, but they set terrible alarm-bells in my spirit.
