Hello, Colossians is one of my favourite writings in the Holy Bible. Colossians is great to share with people and study. Colossians is short in length and not as complicated as many of the longer New Testament writings. Colossians chapter three verse eleven addresses: the equality of all mankind under God and Jesus. Colossians chapter three verse thirteen addresses: salvation in great detail. Colossians chapter one verse 27 states: Christ is our hope of glory. In my own personal opinion, Colossians is a divine book buried in Paul’s work. Paul was in prison while writing Colossians; as a result, Colossians proves to show Paul’s enduring faith. The book should not be overlooked. This is a interesting webpage. Thanks for maintaining. -Alex

    @Casey,
    Colossians 2:
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
    God bless you.

    @Exjupiter,
Grace is given to ALL, JESUS died for ALL of us! and all the water in the world will NOT save a single soul, neither will following the Law. Jesus NAILED the law to HIS cross. Colossians 2:14. We are saved by GRACE through FAITH plus NOTHING! ONLY the CHRIST Jesus has ALREADY saved us. We need to be more careful with our Lord and Savior's word and beware not to lead anyone astray.

Isaiah 9:6 Tell us his name shall be called wonderful counsellor,The Mighty God everlasting Father prince of peace.God said in ( Isaiah 43:19) Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth shall ye not no it? well I guess that being proven. As far as Christ being a man and God at the same time and not! being able to govern the Universe that's a misconception of the human mind. Jesus said to Nicodemus a man who was confused like many here today StJohn 3:12 If I have told you of earthly things and you believe not how shall you believe if I tell you of heavenly things and no man hath ascended up to heaven but the same that came down from heaven even the Son of Man which IS IN HEAVEN!!hello. The Bible dose not say God the Son because The Godhead is not divide because the Son is only the (Word) which is God's prophetic description of himself which he incarnated into flesh. Not another person!! bur the expressed image of his!! person.Hebrews1:3( John 14:9-11) Jesus did not say he that seen me hath seen God the Son he said hath seen the Father ( Colossians 2:9 for in him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily Christ is not a fallen man like us. We can't limit what he can do; because of what we! cant do or don't understand that's why 1Tomothy 3:16 say's its a mystery. Not every one will understand; that's the book that is called the Revelation of Jesus Christ says blessed is him that readeth and understands.( Philippians 2:19)say who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God; But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant. Yes he dose pray to his own spirit Deity!( Ephesians 1:9 says Having made known unto us the Mystery of his will according to the pleasure which he purposed in himself. Hello!!11th verse who worketth all things after the counsel of his own will.( Isaiah 40:10)Behold the Lord God will come with a strong hand and his arm shall rule for him. verse 13 who hath directed the spirit of the Lord; or being his counsellor hath taught him? with whom took he counsel Who instructed him and taught him in the path of Judgment and taught him Knowledge, and taught to him the way of understanding. Matthew 11:27 All things are delivered to me of my Father and no man knoweth the Son but the Father neither knoweth any man the Father save the Son and HE to whom THE SON WILL REVEAL HIM. We often ask the question why do bad things happen to good people? The opposite of that is why do good things happen to bad people? God is a good God, and he causes his rain to fall on the just, and unjust alike. Also he causes the sun to shine on the just, and unjust alike. So thank
God that he is good, and will always cause all things to work together for our good to those who love the Lord, and are called according to his purpose. Which is Christ in you the hope of glory, and thank God that he has crossed out those ordinances that were against us by nailing them to the cross. So be careful of the philosophy of men, and be filled with the wisdom of God. Thank God for everyday, for each day is a holy day. We are called to be holy as our father in heaven is holy.

@ Anonymous: In the bible there are verses that support the baptism of water for remission of sins, for example: Mark 1:4: "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the BAPTISM of repentance for the remission of sins". But this does not mean that you were headed to the kingdom of God; there is a little bit more to that. You asked what is the procedure to enter the Kingdom of God:
1: Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the BAPTISM of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
2: Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by BAPTISM into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
3: Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

And summing it all up for us to understand clearly: John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

So Baptism of water is needed for remission of our sins and the baptism of spirit is needed for the faith in the operation of God. In other words your sins has to be "washed" away and professed publicly (baptism of water) and the baptism of spirit has to change your lifestyle into one of Faith in God (Baptism of spirit).

I hope herewith to have answered your question as to the meaning and function of baptism in water and what the procedure is to get into the kingdom of heaven.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. Baptism it is not a symbol. Why? Because it doth now save us . This is why we cannot do away with it. It is also a burial, not a sprinkling, or pouring of water over one’s head. Why? Because Romans 6:4 and Colossians 2:12 Speaks of Baptism as a Burial ( Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.) ( Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.) I just want to stop right here for a minute. Here is where most get it twisted. The operation Of God is Baptism, we are risen with him through the faith of that operation---(Baptism) A real life view—If you go to a cemetery to bury someone, you just don’t sprinkle soil on top of them, nor do you pour a pitcher of water over their heads, that is just not a BURIAL! Now for the question of who should be baptized? The scripture plainly states: in Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. I want to shorten this you can ask me for scripture / or look them yourself. This is God’s mandate for baptism. One must hear the word of God, believe the word of God, repent of sins, confesses Jesus Christ to be the Son of God and thence forth be baptized. Question can a baby do any of that? I must leave now feel free to get back to me on that.

In what sense is Jesus a “Mighty God”?
Isaiah also foretold that Jesus would be a “Mighty God.” Before coming to earth he was “a god” in the sense that he was “the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” ( John 1:1; Colossians 1:15) After dying as a human and being raised as an immortal spirit, he is a god in the sense that he partakes bodily of “the divine quality.”— Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 6:15, 16.
However, there is an authority associated with the title “Mighty God.” In the Bible certain men were called gods. Why? Because they served as judges in the nation of Israel. ( Psalm 82:1-6) Jesus, the “Mighty God,” is Jehovah’s great appointed Judge. He himself explained what this meant: “The Father judges no one at all, but he has committed all the judging to the Son, in order that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.”— John 5:22, 23.
Among the judgment acts entrusted to Jesus is the judging of his own congregation—both those who had died prior to his return in Kingdom power and those still alive—at the period of his presence during “the conclusion of the system of things.” ( Matthew 24:3) He also does the judging of the nations today, separating “the sheep” from “the goats.” In addition, he will preside over the thousand-year judgment day of all mankind after Armageddon. A “Mighty God” indeed!— Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 11:18; 1 Peter 4:17; Revelation 20:4, 5, 13.

    V. 21, "touch not, taste not, handle not" is defined as being the commandments of men which show man made religion, rather than an O.T. injunction by God. The previous v. challenges us not to be subject to such ordinances. Established churches in my own religious community have many such binding rules to help guide their members. After (don't associate with the world) comes (no cars allowed). Since modern tractors and wagons might be used to go to worldly places, more rules were needed. (No rubber tires allowed). Now abusive jolting of equipment brought on homemade tractor wheels with rubber in the structure to absorb the shock. More church rules needed. (Not over a certain percentage of the wheel may be of rubber). Do you see how such man imposed rules perish with the useing. Even well-meant religious rules eventually require more regulation, and the victims are distracted from new life in Jesus to worldly religion. This whole chapter 2 is devoted to contrasting; the kingdom of our Lord against the falacy of well-meant religion. James 1:27 gives a very limited description of pure religion that is not defiled before God. Let's keep our eyes on Jesus.

Mh what a message! This chapter is one of those chapters for growth especialy to the growing christians nowadays,it says in verse 6-7...as we have received Jesus Christ, let's walk in him, rooted and built up in him...".which shows that it's not only to just receive him in our lives but we must continue to live in him and be rooted and built up in him in order to grow in faith.you can also check John 15 for the same message!

Who is JESUS??? He the Son of GOD or the bible signify the Wisdom of God...in the Book of Proverbs 8:22 is not Christ. He cited 1 Corinthians 1:30 and hastily concluded that Christ is the wisdom for salvation and redemption only, and not the Wisdom instrumental in the creation of every existing thing. Here were his allegations:
A careful look at the above cited verses will reveal to us the following facts —

    1. The Wisdom of God is a mystery

    2. The hidden Wisdom ordained by God was before the world

    3. It was not known by the princes of this world

Due to these, they crucified the Lord of Glory.

The Wisdom of God being mentioned by Paul here is the Wisdom in a mystery, the hidden Wisdom, which is the Lord of Glory. Remember that this Wisdom was ordained by God before the World.
Who is the Lord of Glory?
( James 2:1) “My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.”

It is crystal clear, therefore, that the Wisdom mentioned by Paul who existed and was ordained by God before the world is the Lord Jesus Christ — The Lord of Glory.

It this the same Wisdom being mentioned in the Book of Proverbs?

( 1 Corinthians 1:24) “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”

The Apostle Paul said, “The Wisdom of God.” A little knowledge in grammar will teach us know that there is no other Wisdom of God because he used the definite article ‘the.’ However, Christ is the Wisdom of God to those who are called. No wonder, Tumbok does not understand because he was not called. God calls people into the Church of God and not in any church founded by man.

( 1 Corinthians 1:1-2) “Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours…”

It is in the Church of God that God calls people which He considers worthy of serving Him. If there are those who do not consider Christ as ‘the’ Wisdom of God, they are the enemies of Christ.

( 1 Corinthians 1:23-24) “But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”

Christ is not the Wisdom of God to those who were not called into the Church of God, but a ‘stumbling block’ and foolishness. Certainly, He is the same Wisdom being mentioned in Proverbs 8:22

( Proverbs 8:22) “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.”

The word ‘possessed’ being used by the Wisdom (referring to Christ) is very much apparent in the declaration of John.

( John 1:18) “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

The Wisdom was possessed by the Father in the beginning of His ways, before His works of old. The succeeding verses, the 23rd and the 24th, prove that He was begotten before anything was made.

( Proverbs 8:23-24) “I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.”

No other being in the universe was brought forth or begotten of the Father other than the only begotten Son, which was in the beginning, the Wisdom in the bosom of the Father.

( Hebrews 1:5) “For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?”

He is also the Son mentioned in the Book of Proverbs, which was with the Father in the creation of everything.

( Proverbs 30:4) “Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?”

He is the person to whom God was speaking, in the creation of man.

( Genesis 1:26) “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Others conclude (which were always erroneous) that God was speaking to angels; but this is not so. God was speaking to someone who has the same image as He has, and there is no other person in the universe or beyond it, that has the exact image of God other than the Son.

( Hebrews 1:1-3) “God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high…”

Note that by the Son he made the worlds. The Son is the express image of His person. These reasonings of Saint Paul jive with the preaching of John in his gospel.

( John 1:1-3) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

To sum up, that Jesus Christ really is the Wisdom of God being mentioned in the Book of Proverbs, let us look at the verses a second time.

( Proverbs 8:22-30) “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him…”

I have highlighted in red words and phrases that speak of the time element proving that the Wisdom, that is the Son, pre-existed before He was born of Mary in the form of a man. There is no other Wisdom of God being mentioned in the Bible, other than the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ; the Lord of Glory, the wisdom that God used in the creation of everything that exists.

( Colossians 2:2-3) “That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

All treasures of wisdom and knowledge are in Christ. The Apostle Paul has known this so he wrote —

( Colossians 1:15-17) “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”

How can something that does not exist be made an instrument in the creation of everything that exists? That is impossible!

( John 1:1-3) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

The Son was there in the Creation of everything! Without Him was not anything made that was made!

In hebrews the 11th chapter speaks about a sabbath rest that is awaitng us. The old testament order it was a day, in the new testment it's a way of life. It is now written in our flesly hearts not of stone (old testament)It is walking in the SPIRIT OF GOD and not after the flesh. As a Pastor and bible teacher for over 35 years, I have come to the conclusion that Colossians 2 contains a vital message for the church today. Verse 4 of this chapter says; "And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words."
