People with no Christ in their hearts tend to do things for their own honor and glory. But we Christians(saved by the precious Blood of Christ) should be vessels unto honor, which is to honor God in everything we do. There's no greater things to compare than doing it for God's glory. Let's just ask God for guidance that all that we are doing are only for God's honor and glory.
"Christ who is your life." All life is in God. "In him we live and exist." This means that we exist in the mind of God as his congealed thoughts. What I mean is, God's mind is so powerful that his thoughts come together as whatever he desires. This is how matter is formed. And as long as God holds his thoughts in place, we exist.
This is how Satan exist. He is nothing but a thought of God, who God gives the power to think and even to oppose God. But since he is nothing more than a mental creation, he is limited in what he can do.
Commenting on 3:3....For ye are dead and your life is hid wit Christ in God! Powerful! sums it up for us because dead people can't lie cheat or steal...they can't do anything. So if we're dead to sin, why are we still acting as though we are alive? God forbid! Give it up and allow Christ to dominate!
I thank God for his word. It tells us how to live. IT is true daily we have to practice faith and read the word every day to help us in our growth in God. Lord fill us up with your word!
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: When a sinner is saved the old man dies and God creates a brand new man in Christ.This knowledge of Gods creation, without mans intervention of religion reafirms for us God's grace which is freely given to those who trust in Paul's gospel alone 1 Corinthians 15:3,4. This is our hope and salvation from the sin nature and the wrath to come.
many and most christians are left, trying in and of their own willpower to put off the deeds of the flesh ,which these are,and failing miserably. so,the answer is the cross,by exercising faith in jesus christ,daily, i can do all things through HIM,and through HIM alone. we overcome by the blood of the lamb. denying self and embracing what HE did at the cross not only for our salvation but also for our sanctification and for deliverance.
Wow! the Holy Spirit really rose up in Paul on this chapter; This chapter should definitely be read, and meditated on daily; such strong nourishment, just what we all need: clear instruction with authority. BLESS THE NAME OF THE LORD, FOR THE WORD OF GOD IS QUICK, AND POWERFUL, AND SHARPER THAN ANY TWOEDGED SWORD,PIERCING EVEN TO THE DIVIDING ASUNDER OF SOUL AND SPIRIT, AND OF THE JOINTS AND MARROW, AND IS A DISCERNER OF THE THOUGHTS, AND INTENTS OF THE HEART; WHICH IS SAID IN HEBREWS 4:12. Wow!
In 2nd Corinthians 5:17 IT STATES THAT IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST JESUS HE IS A NEW CREATURE OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY AND ALL THINGS ARE MADE NEW SO THEREFORE IF YOU ARE TRUELY REBORN AGAIN THEN YOU DO NOT DO THE SINFUL THINGS THAT YOU USED TO DO IN 1ST JOHN 3:9 IT SAYS THAT IF YOU HAVE TRULY REPENTED AND ARE BORN OF GOD YOU CAN NOT SIN BECAUSE HIS SEED(JESUS) REMAINTETH IN YOU AND YOU CAN NOT SIN BECAUSE YOU ARE BORN OF GOD AND PEOPLE WHO ARE BORN OF GOD WILL NOT CONTINUE TO LIE PERIOD.

I appreciate this chapter, Colossians Chapter 3 verse 15 teaches us to have the right attitude and entire chapter also teaches on how to live with the society,according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
I FEEL DEEP IN MY HEART THAT I NEED TO BE VERY CAREFUL IN WHAT I SAY. I HAVE NOT BEEN VERY CAREFUL ON THAT, AND THAT HURTS ME. WHAT I NEED TO DO IS STOP AND ASK MYSELF ‘WOULD JESUS BE HERE, OR SAY THAT? WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?’ GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Reminds all of us that our lives should be conducted, lived in holiness; and that how we live is being carefully watched by our wonderful savior and we will receive recompense at the judgment seat for both the good and bad we have done!
I don't believe in adding my opinion to the Word of God, rather accepting it and obey it all. There is a command to teach nations and baptizing them ( Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5, Acts 22:16, Romans 6:3-5), and even in 1 Corinthians 1:13-15 and Colossians 3:17 that all we do in word or deed should be in the name of Lord Jesus. To me, it is not about what I think, it is about obeying the Word.
It tells me that everything we do and say is to be done in "Jesus’ name", not the trinity, father, son and the holy ghost. It clearly says in Jesus’ name.
@Tom Allen,
If it weren't to the individual to be born again, how is one to get into heaven? Flesh and blood surely will not, then Acts 2:38, 4:12, Colossians 3:17 and others in Acts are null and void and the Bible not true. Many would like to just use Romans as a means of salvation but that won't work; it’s a beginning..Faith without WORKS is DEAD!!!
I can relate to this verse. I would like fathers to love and accept their children as they are gifts from GOD. For fathers to give love and more understanding to their children and not hurt them with harsh words and not give them body aches.
Colossians 3 can be summarized under complete renewal of our mind. As believers, we are called to work by the spirit and not the flesh, for what the flesh wants is spelled out in verses 5 and 8, and the spirit wants love joy. We can go back to Galatians 5. Believers you are dead to life (flesh) verse 3, Christ spirit lives in you, walk therefore in that spirit. Believers are called therefore to set their treasures on things above (verse 1) and not on the things of this world (if we shall work by the spirit we will not gratify the desires of this world/flesh.
Comment on verse 26:
1. This is a very misunderstood passage simply because people continue to make remarks about biblical scriptures without research and studying ( 2 Timothy 2:15);
2. Can anyone of reason truly believe that Jesus is teaching us that we must hate our family members in order to love and follow him?
3. Only an antichrist that rejects God's word and the truth of biblical philosophy would come to that conclusion;
4. The meaning behind the word hate is the same found in Genesis 29:30,31. Jacob truly loved Rachel more than Leah in verse 30, but noticed the word hate used by God in his description of how Jacob feels towards Leah in verse 31;
5. There are times when God uses the word hate in his describing of a feeling of one person over another when it is just a matter of a person having a more affectionate preference over someone else;
6. To get the true description of Jesus is saying in verse 26, go to Colossians 3:1-4;
7. True example of God's hatred about someone or something can be found in Proverbs 6:16-19.
Colossians 3:4, it is very clear that we are all alive because Christ is with us, which is our life. All we need to do to have everlasting life is to know the true name of Christ in spirit.
This passage of scripture challenges the believer to be renewed in his/her mind. First we need to watch our motives and actions while we walk daily. Are we serving God or our selfish ambitions? It shows us what our Christian walk should be like.
So many people in this world, didn't see how God is good, He prepared everything, just to seek and to save to those who not seen the light of the word of our savior, who died on the cross for our sins.
Believed, trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey......
Laying up treasures in heaven is not synonymous with staying away and losing interest in life endeavors,. While the word of GOD condemns slothfulness, laziness, it urges us to do things heartily as to the lord and not men ( Colossians 3:23,24), which means we are called to excel (give the best we can) in all we do; including business and profession… However, we are warned against dishonesty, greed, love of money, selfishness and all excess that life tends to drive us in. In doing things heartily, obeying the lord, we are laying up treasures for ourselves in heaven….
This is how Satan exist. He is nothing but a thought of God, who God gives the power to think and even to oppose God. But since he is nothing more than a mental creation, he is limited in what he can do.
"And what so ever ya do, do it heartily , as to The Lord, and not unto men" col 2:23.
