Glenn, Hoarding? What did Joseph do in Egypt? he saved food for hard times. Jesus in Matthew 24 warned of famine so what should we do? Some will claim this does not apply to Christians, I beg to differ. Jesus was not speaking to unbelievers.

We should plant the seed and pray and trust the Lord to provide the rain.

    Look up Holodomor

Is there anything about hoarding I the word of God because even my trust in him alone is what I'm supposed to lean on Jesus for everything and not my self trust in lean on adhere to God to supply my needs right

Thanks for sharing that testimony, Jerry. It's only when we come to the end of ourselves, acknowledge our estrangement from the Lord Who loves us & waits for us, & humble ourselves in repentance, then only can we find His forgiveness & restoration. And what a change of scene that is: out of darkness (of fears, struggles & sin) into His marvellous Light (of forgiveness, joy & peace). No better place to be: in the Palm of His Hand & secure in His Love.

May God lead you further in His Truth & conforming you each day into the image of His Son. Colossians 3:1-4.

Every time I say to myself I'm not going to help those that I am helping because they don't seem to, (for lack of a better word) appreciate it the Holy Spirit brings this verse to mind and it puts me back on track and another verse comes to mind, "whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men" Colossians 3:24

Cindy writes: "We don't repent of anything. We change our mind from unbelief to belief. Repent does not mean to stop doing anything. It means to believe."

So in Revelation 2 Jesus told the BELIEVING CHURCH OF EPHESUS to repent of their unbelief?

    This is what you think?

John the baptist and Jesus told the believing pharisees to repent of what?
  • Cindy - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 4 years ago
There are two different repents in the Bible. Buying a Greek lexicon would help you a lot. Every verse about salvation repent is metanoia. Means change your mind. Someone already saved it means to change direction. You can't mix the second with salvation because it adds works which perverts the Gospel. We can't add our works to Jesus' works.

Cindy - so you claim repent does not mean to turn from sin?

Jesus told the BELIEVING CHURCH IN EPHESUS TO REPENT

Repent of what? their unbelief? a believing church repent of unbelief?

    Revelation Chapter 2

    1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

    except thou repent.

    except thou repent.

    except thou repent.

    except thou repent.

telling the BELIEVING CHURCH to REPENT OF WHAT?

    UNBELIEF?

The right hand is the dominant hand for most people. In battle, the right arm would wield the sword or draw the bowstring to shoot the arrow. A king would hold his sceptre in his right hand as a symbol of his power. To be placed at the right hand of the king would signify honor and authority given.

In Genesis 48, Israel placed his right hand of blessing on the head of Joseph's younger son Ephraim while his left hand was on the head of the firstborn son Manasseh. His right hand deliberately conferred a greater blessing on Ephraim.

Jesus Christ is the embodiment of God's right hand of power as Colossians 1 makes evident. He is also elevated to the right hand of God's throne in Heaven as declared in Romans 8:34, Ephesians 1:20, Colossians 3:1, Hebrews 1:3 and elsewhere in the scripture. David trusted the LORD as his Savior and prophetically includes this aspect of the LORD's nature in his psalms.
  • Adam - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 4 years ago
Repentance does mean turn from sin. The KJV Bible is already translated correctly. People tend to like to only 'retranslate' the words or verses they don't like.
  • Cindy - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 4 years ago
The word repentance is widely misunderstood. The Greek word for repentance in the New Testament is metanoia it means change of mind. It does not mean turn from sin. That is a work. And it does not fit with the context. God repented 27 or so times in the Old Testament. God can't sin. He changed his mind.

You can't stop sinning either. If you say you are without sin you call God a liar and the truth is not in you. Just because you don't get drunk or murder or commit fornication does not mean you don't sin. We live in a sinful flesh body. We are saved by what Jesus did for us not what we do for him. We are not good but he is. Keep trying to work to earn your salvation. You will never obtain it. The only way to be saved is by trusting the Gospel. We are saved by Grace through Faith in the work of Jesus. Not by "being good" that is an acursed gospel. I can't believe you can read the King James Bible and believe in works. I believe in the works of Christ and God counts it to me for righteousness. Our works are filthy rags to God. They were never good enough to save us . If so then why the need for a Savior? If our works were not good enough to save us they are sure not good enough to keep us saved. The Holy Ghost is our seal. He preserves us. God saved us by his power and he keeps us by the same power. When you are born again and the Holy Spirit moves in your desires change. You don't want to sin. Anyone born again would know that. It's not a license to sin it it trusting God to save you to the uttermost. The sabbath was a shadow of our rest in Christ. It was a lesson that when God says to stop working stop working. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly. His faith is counted for righteousness. You gotta stop working and start trusting that what Christ did was enough. Religious people kill me. They look righteous on the outside but are dead men's bones on the inside.

    Hi Cindy,

I do believe you when you claim that you cannot stop sinning, because you are a member of a sect that tells you that you can't stop sinning, and that furthermore, you are led to believe that it's not that serious if you do sin, because it won't affect your salvation, so you have no motivation to even try. However people who belong to sects where they are told that they can stop sinning and that sinning has terrible consequences, do stop sinning, because they remain vigilant and avoid occasions of sin as Matthew Henry suggests on the Commentary on this website. The truth is that sinning does have terrible consequences for other people's salvation, as they observe the sinful lives of some Christians and decide, not surprisingly, that Christianity simply does not work.

Hi Cindy, so according to your religion, Jesus would have said to the woman found in adultery, 'neither do I condemn you, go your way and sin all you like, because I'm going to die on the cross to pay the price for all your sins, past, present and future, so because of my death on the cross, you can sin all you want and still get to heaven, as long as you believe in me. that's a horrible religion. Who needs it?
  • Cindy - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 4 years ago
Everyone needs that kind of God because we can not not sin. Anyone who says that have no sin is a liar and they call God a liar. If we were saved due to our behavior we would all split hell wide open. Thank God we are saved by what Jesus did because he can not fail. Our salvation is not made nor maintained by our works. Our works are not good enough. Self righteousness is what will keep people out of Heaven. Prostitutes will make it to heaven before self righteous people will. This is Biblical sound doctrine rightfully divided. Not religion.

Dear Douglas Russel Jr., Oh, how I hope since you've reached out here, that you have come to understand The Good News of Christ's Love and what it means to be saved by God's Amazing Grace :)

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 "...I declare unto you the GOSPEL...By which also ye are saved...How that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. :)

*Because of what God says in His Word, the Bible, I believe*:

that man is saved from eternal punishment and is justified freely by grace through faith in the sacrificially shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary

    ( Romans 3:21-26, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

that Salvation is a completely undeserved free gift bestowed upon all who simply believe ( Romans 5:12-21, 4:5).

during this dispensation of grace, every person who believes the gospel of the grace of God ( Acts 20:24) is eternally saved from God's wrath.

All saved people during the dispensation of grace are eternally saved and complete in Christ ( Romans 5:1, Colossians 2:10).

Salvation is the work of God and not the work of man. Therefore, it is impossible for anyone who has trusted in Christ to ever be lost again. AND ...We are sealed by the Holy Spirit and are not our own -- we are bought with a price

    ( Colossians 3:1-4, Romans 8:29-39, Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30, 1Corinthians 6:19-20).

Space here is running low. I hope to share more in another comment if allowed.

As the Apostle Paul repeatedly said:

" Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ " ... Amen.

Hi Eri. Thank you for that great message & reminder to all of us to reset our focus, not on the Earthly, but Heavenly. Colossians 3:1,2. And to stir the Spirit's Fruit in us ( Gal 5:22-26) that we might be a sweet savour unto Him ( 2 Cor 2:15,16).

Hebrews 9:27 It is appointed for men once to die then after this the judgment. When we are in Christ, the bible says that we are new creatures, created in Him. Romans 14;8 For whether we live,we live unto the lord. Whether we die we die unto the lord.Whether we live or die we are the lords. God is the God of the living not the dead. There is no fear in perfect love. Colossians 3: 1-4 Set your affections on things above, not on things of the earth. For ye are dead and your life is hid in Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears then shall ye also appear with Him in GLORY!

May God help me to be this kind of woman. In my youth I strayed, now that I am older, I am close to the Lord, however I still fall so short of this Proverbs 31 woman. God help us not to get caught up in whether a woman should/should not work outside the home. Let us just seek to be this woman with our whole heart, with the help of Jesus, wherever our life is called to be right now, doing any task at all, let us do it unto HIM. Colossians 3:23:
    And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

First a testimony. Years ago I asked the Lord: how come we only use 10% of our brains? He spoke to my spirit: "you have the mind of Christ." I knew that Jesus has a 100+ mind. I took that to mean that IN Childlike FAITH we can excel in studies. I am not saying it happens for everyone because you have turn your faith loose; nobody else can do it for you. If God says He's for you, who can be against you?

Christ came in the Spirit of not only a Son but a servant, I to must be a good servant. So that my Father in heaven will say, well done my good and faithful servant. If you've been in the military you would understand, you no longer belong to you but the United States government. We are now on God's army, his government. We find his rules, laws, precepts, covenants and follow them. God= His Kingdom
The Holy Spirit = Head steward, he give me the servant instructions for the day= Daily bread= I follow per his instructions, passed down from the Father, my "King " my "Lord"
