False prophets seek their own glory, and have not heard the Lord's voice at all; but speak out of the worthless imagination of their own hearts. Should we then be afraid of them or their words? I suppose not! Everyone who has tried to say they know something which the Lord Himself said "It is not given for you to know!" is a liar seeking only for men to worship HIMSELF, and works against the LORD!

Verse 2 shows how deep of a student Daniel was of God's written Word. We should strive to imitate his example.

Israel's 4 Great Jubilee Redemption Cycles of 490 years are:
(i) Birth of Abram to the Exodus
(ii) The Exodus to the Dedication of Solomon’s Temple.
(iii) The Dedication of Solomon’s Temple to the Decree to Restore Jerusalem by Artaxerxes ( Ezra 7)
(iv) Decree to Restore Jerusalem to the Death and Resurrection of Christ. (This is Daniel's 70 weeks.)

The 70 Weeks of Daniel 9:24 are Israel's Babylon captivity to lay land fallow.

The Threescore and Two Weeks (62x7weeks =434 years) of Daniel 9:25 is the 400 years of silence (between Malachi to Matthew) AND Jesus' 34 years on this Earth.

Jesus has to serve 2 weeks total, 7 years for Leah (oldest) THEN for Rachel (younger) 7 years of Tribulation (Rachel's Weeping) the week of Daniel 9:27.

When Israel was freed from Babylon the prophet was given the future of his people until the kingdom. 70 weeks equals 490 years which 0f which 483 were finished upon Jesus' baptism and he ministered for 3 1/2 years when he went to heaven. There remains 3 1/2 years yet to be fulfilled which will be finished during the 7 trumps by the 144,000 He indwells in the Spirit.

Question for Elijah Luthor! What is the 70 weeks of Daniel 9:24? Is this the 70 years Jerusalem was taken in captivity to Babylon?

Elijah; very interesting information, but how useful for the simple? I too like to learn facts and history, but at a certain point you're gonna bore your audience a hole in the toe! We should use knowledge to expound and amplify spiritual knowledge that brings people to really know the Lord. All else seems to only want to glorify the one talking, because no one else is listening anymore. Write me!

Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was crucified on April, Wednesday the 25th, A.D. 0031 [Julian-Augustan calendar system]. He resurrected on Saturday evening before sunset or dusk. The news of His resurrection was first learned about on Sunday morning. I see "future antichrist" when the antichrist, and many antichrists, are already in the world. Antichrists deny daily that CHRIST JESUS is in the flesh, which is His church, His temple, His body of believers as members of CHRIST carrying His Holy Spirit. Be blessed in Christ. Lanny, "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression,..." Part of Romans 4:15 says "...for where no law is, there is no transgression." The transgression Daniel 9:2, 11, 24, is talking about is the law of the Sabbath of the land (see Lev. 25;1-22; 26:31-36; 2 Chron. 36:14-21. The destruction of Jeru. in Dan 9:26-27 is in the 70th week under Law.

Daniel 9 is clear up to the 26th verse. From Cyrus's decree to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of Jesus the Messiah to his crucifixion and the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans..all is clear. Then there is verse 27. Isn't it possible that this "he" could refer to Jesus also and not in the future but in the past. The temple sacrifices ceased after Jesus died and the curtain was rent in two from top to bottom. Jesus did make a new covenant with us, making the old one obsolete. Why are we applying the last week to the future? And to someone else. I say the "he" in verse 27 causes ambiguity but I am not entirely sure that it should apply to the future anti-Christ.

Why is Daniel 9:24-27 a stumper, when it comes to mathematics? You know? Addition, for example ! Seventy weeks = 490 years from 457 B.C. to 34 A.D. Sixty Nine weeks = 483 years, and low and behold, Seventy One weeks = 497 years, Seventy Two weeks = 505 years. It's not Sixty Nine weeks and a few thousand years till the Seventieth week. Mathematics dosen't work that way. And the angel said Seventy!

can't help but think the number "70" has a numerical connection to this and to the traditional date of the Destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem AD 70 , among other things...

I like JP's comment. I use to believe somewhat in prophecy, but then I was introduced to Reformed Theology, and now I see the Bible and the Truth come out! Everything in the Old Testament including Daniel, leads to one person, Jesus Christ! So simple, but so many go with the 'tradition' of prophecy. When Christ died on the cross, he said 'It Is Finished'.

I agree with Matthew Henry about verses 24 to 27.. In the dispensational scheme, the person who will 'confirm the covenant with many for one week' is a future 'antichrist' character, who will exalt himself over all things good and holy in a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. By incorporating this with passages from the book of Revelation, and others, they turn this precious Old Testament prophecy into a vile, twisted and blasphemous futurist vision! The He who is spoken of here is Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour, so obviously even I can understand it! Don't be taken in people, do your homework and be careful. Praise God, in Jesus' name!

and this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached unto all nations then the end shall come.the 2nd triumphant entry of our lord is hinged on this not anything else.its upon us,how well we do the work in the fields that a while delays or speeds up the coming of the lord.

I love this verse, it is pure inspiration for us believers. To know that if when we seek after Him, He hears us.

O my God, incline thine ear, and hear open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplication before thee for our righteousness, but for thy great mercies. Daniel is greatly beloved, and confessed his sin, and the sin of the people. and Jehovah God heard him, and answered his prayer. O that we could be a Daniel today, and cry out to God to forgive our sins, and the sin of he nation. So that healing and forgiveness can come upon thy people.

THIS CHAPTER LETS US KNOW THAT YISRAEL IS NOT BACK IN THEIR LAND YET AND THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE RAPTURE. SHALOM

Here is Daniel 11:31 32--31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. 32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. The short answer to your question is the desolator is the Antichrist himself...standing in the Holy Place claiming to be the true Christ.
