Discuss Deuteronomy 11

    Giannis,

I would like to share my understanding using James 5:7. For me to properly explain myself, I will take the entire verse.

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Obviously using the word brethren, used 21 times in this letter, is indication for us that he's talking to believers.

    Now the word patience:

There are two words for patience in scripture. One is literally longsuffering, and that's the word used most of the time. That's also the word used here, but it's used patience instead of longsuffering.

This is Makrothumia, which means slow in human reaction. Slow in human reaction is called longsuffering, and it's usually used in application to our response to people.

Patience, Hupomeno, means to remain under. And that word is used for circumstances. So literally, patience is to remain under, and longsuffering is to be slow in human reaction.

But it's interesting that James in a command form says be patient, or literally longsuffering therefore brethren unto the coming of the Lord.

Be slow in your human reaction to the world, opposite of being impulsive, opposite of the things in the world, the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life that the world beckons to. Be slow in your human reaction towards the world until the coming of the Lord. Be patient.

And he gives an example here:

Behold, the husbandman, (the farmer), he waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience, (Makrothumia) for it, until he receives the early and latter rain.

Now God promised the Jews, His people, in Deuteronomy 11:14, He says I will give you the rain of your land in its due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in thy corn, and your wine and your oil.

The early rain is October/November, planting season, so that after they plant, the rains come and push the seed into the ground, and waters the ground.

Out of space so I need to send a part 2.

What does it mean to "curse"??? Is that like putting a hex on someone or cussing them out?????

    1John 4:18, Revelation 21:6-8, 1John 4:1-3,

Do you believe John 3:16 ? Do you believe GOD can heal? Do you believe GOD can change everything? Do you believe man who spoke those words over you, or GOD ALMIGHTY that created you!? Be Healed be delivered

    Trust GOD

    James 1:5, Romans 10:17, James 4:7, Luke 11:9-13,

Nick 34, You're saying only when you pray or read the Bible; the scripture says pray without ceasing 1Thessalonians 5:17. Lay the word on your heart & in your soul, bind on your hand, in front of your eyes, to talk about them often, with your children when sitting, walking along, when laying down, the WORD of GOD, Deuteronomy 11:18-20, Psalms 119:11,

Is it a spiritual attack to keep you from reading, praying & learning of a Loving Creator our Loving Father in Heaven? Or is it the HOLY Spirit bringing conviction of sin? If it's not peace that is present, your relationship needs work, possibly. Even Isaiah a Prophet of GOD, had to repent to be close to GOD's presence: Isaiah 1:6, These should be helpful

We have the right to vote. We have the privilege to attend open school board meetings.

The Book of Deuteronomy 11: GOD shows us that the burden to teach our children BIBLE TRUTH is on the Believing Parents. We do not get a pass on SPIRITUAL EDUCATION, in the Home. We don't get to edit out "parts" according to politics.

Example: my son said his teacher taught we all came from APES. He was upset because he had a test the next day!

I asked him if he ever saw an ape inside of his public school? Did he see a ape living in a 3 bedroom house with air conditioning, big screen tv with remote, PlayStation 5? A $60,000 car, full refrigerator?

He was in tears. He said teacher was going to give an "F"to everyone who disagreed with her.

I gave him my PERMISSION TO FLUNK THE TEST. I told him there would be science projects he could get an A+ on. He did the work and his grade average Passed Him to the next grade. He learned hard work beats HERESY every single time.

I also taught him in my home_ sex education and Godly morals. He learned the correct names and functions. He grew up having respect for the female sex.

Another time (age 15) I asked if he wanted to marry a virgin? He said YES!! I told him as the man, he should protect his virgin & keep her pure. Proverbs 3

Don't be afraid to teach Bible principals to your kids. Teach Godly knowledge. God made them, to be passed from one generation to the next one. It works.

You'll probably get lots of replies, I hope mine will be helpful.

In ancient Israel, God told them not to intermarry with infidels; unbelievers. The reason is one mate may forbid the other to attend Church; or force them to attend a non-Christian church.

Race isn't the issue as long as both persons are Believers; as in Christians. Who honor God in the home and in their Church. Teaching their children about God and Jesus.

Kids are raising themselves today, because the parents are trying to keep a roof over their heads and food in the fridge. God is LOVE. If we put God first, He will protect you.

    Deuteronomy 11:21

That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

    Deuteronomy 11:19

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

    Deuteronomy 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed (children) may live.

14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

    15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

    17 But if thine heart TURN AWAY, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy SEED (children) may live.

    Mishael, blessings on you

    Hello Hanna,

    1Kings 2,

Why did Solomon have Adonijah put death?

1st because Adonijah asked Solomon's mother to conspire to do an unlawful act, trying to get Solomon also to be part of breaking GOD's law. 1Kings 2:13-21, The law: Leviticus 18:8, Leviticus 20:11,

2nd Treason, I believe Solomon saw this as an act of Treason, also punishable by death even by law today. Please see 2Kings 2:22, Adonijah had already tried to take the kingdom from Solomon: 1Kings 1,

David was promised that his son Solomon was to reign as king after him & that Solomon was going to build the temple for GOD. This was known: 1Chronicles 28:5, 1Chronicles 22:5-9, note: 1Chronicles 22:17, "all the princes of Israel" 1Chronicles 29:1, please read all of Chapter, 1Chronicles 22. & 1Chronicles 28,

    Note: 1Chronicles 29:22

3rd the curse, was Adonijah trying to curse Solomon, his Father's household & Israel? Leviticus 20:9, Deuteronomy 11:27-28,

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Hello,

I know Christians tonight who will commit fornication. I know Christians who will be out partying tonight, getting drunk, possibly doing drugs. Some will lie, some may steal, some may assault others. They do this because they hear the watered down gospel and are told that they're already saved, that they're already in the book of life, so their actions are irrelevant, they assume.

Every Sunday when they go to church they then hear the same verses you shared which reassures them that they're totally fine following the pleasures of the world and can enjoy all the benefits of sin they wish, like an all you can eat buffet. But is that why Jesus died on the cross- so His followers can use that as a free hall pass to commit unlimited sin and evil? The Bible already says the answer is no.

So, everyone giving only part of the story of salvation and omitting the importance of obedience is doing a grave disservice. People will go to hell over this and people should actually fear God like it says in Matthew 10:28. But people are afraid of offending someone, that they withhold the truth. Did Jesus withhold the truth so no one was offended? Did Paul?

But what about offending God and offending Jesus? Those who don't obey and who sin is like slapping Jesus in the face.

I'm offended that people are withholding Bible verses from those who need to hear them the most. I am offended at false teachings.

The fact is Jesus gave lots of commandments. Do we truly love Jesus enough to follow them?

    John 13:34

    John 15:12

    John 15:10

    John 14:15

    Deuteronomy 11:22

1 John 2:15 "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

The above verse should scare the daylights out of people who are currently loving and following the world. It should scare them to death and be the hugest wake up call. The end is near and time is short to get right with God. It won't happen automatically.

    God bless.

    Proverbs 29:15

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself brings his mother to shame.

    Proverbs 19:18

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare him for his crying.

    Proverbs 22:15

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

    Proverbs 14:3

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

    Proverbs 13:24

He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him betimes.

Hebrews 13:17 - Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Colossians 3:20 - Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

Deuteronomy 11:19 - And ye shall teach them, your children, speaking of them when thou sit in thine house, and when thou walk by the way, when thou lie down, and when thou rise up.

Comment: When I spanked my son, we had 15 min time outs to let go of anger and fear. I told him exactly why he was being punished.

Later when he began lying I made him a "deal". If he would tell the truth no matter how bad it was: I would forgive him. He learned honesty after that. Later, pride in his responsibility for his own failures.

Book of Proverbs has lots of insight into child rearing. If the scripture says 'beat', it does not mean mark up the child's skin. Teach personal responsibility. Reward when they do things right; a hug, a popsicle and a smile.

Hello again Dr. Lee. I think I might have understood the difference between the Old Covenant & the Old Testament. You wrote: "One huge difference between the Old Testament and the old covenant is that Moses wrote the Old Testament by hand, while God wrote with his finger the old covenant." The Old (Mosaic) Covenant being the Ten Commandments (which I understand & agree to), & the Old Testament being the Pentateuch (?) If this is the case, have those who divided the testaments to what we have now, erred, by placing the Pentateuch, the Prophets & the Writings under the nomenclature of the Old Testament? If so, then this is misleading.

Now when we consider the New Testament, you've written that the "New Testament has 7 categories." This to me seems like the New Testament must include all the Books from Matthew to Revelation as those categories you've detailed can be seen in most, if not all, of those books.

Then to the New Covenant. It "only has two great commandments". Can we not actually place these Covenantal Laws of both the Old & New (i.e. the Ten Commandments & the love God & neighbour commandment) under the actual Covenants made/given that command men to follow after? I tend to look at a Covenant as just that: a verbal declaration/pledge by one party to another. Therefore I see that the Mosaic (Old) Covenant (e.g. Deuteronomy 11:1-32) & the New Covenant (found variously in Jeremiah 31:31-34; Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 9:15; Romans 11:26,27), as the pledge, with the commandments (including the dictates of the Spirit in the believer), being our response to those Covenants. If we, post-Cross, fail to apprehend this & fail to earnestly seek to obey the Spirit, one could rightly question of what sort our salvation is & whether the promise of the Covenant was ever applied to our hearts. Thank you for your time again.

I'm sorry for your loss of friends during this difficult time. I'm sure it's even more troubling for you because of that.

I do not believe it to be the 'time" nor 'mark' However I Believe we are to be wise. Psalms 2:10,Teaching our children. Deuteronomy 11:19.The scripture does say 'hand or forehead" Revelations 13:11-18, please read around scripture for best context. Unless translation could mean arm, it's not clearly "the mark of the beast". I think the reason many are alarmed about this is

1st because of ingredient in vaccination, Psalms 106:29, Psalms 36-39

2nd whistle blowers coming forth with evidence of ungodly acts in testing, ingredient & side-affects

3rd the division it's caused & causing in Church & society

4th The Forcefulness of it all, losing ability to work, travel in some cases

5th The targeting of the T-cells, and cells that give space for communication with GOD, discovered by scientific study, (Reported 2009). Even having immediate side-affects

6th possibly most troubling for some: 1st P. C. developer bought pharmaceutical & Biotechnology ''vaccination' developer. Then filed for patent : WO/2020/060606 for: Cryptocurrency using body activity.

    Please don't panic. 1 John 4:18,

Mark 13:22, Mark 13:5-37, several of those have yet to happen. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-13, could the great falling away be those who put all faith in rapture? Revelations 6:8-11, John 17:1-20, holdfast during trial Matthew 24:13, Matthew 24:4-51,

What is worship? Is it adoration, admiration, time given to, consuming, looking into intently, loving? Some feared computers were "the beast" the image of the beast? Cell phones or 'computer chips" The other day I wondered what it looks like to GOD seeing so many faces looking into devices, not up to HIM. Let us Worship only GOD ALMIGHTY, creator of Heaven & Earth.

Hopefully this is helpful in your research of Truth. I will pray for you also & sad for your loss & heaviness for loved ones being deceived. Peace to you

The main element we can take away from the current reading is we must be born again according to Scripture.

All the encouragement, chiding, blessings and cursings are only given to the children of Israel. Nothing was said to the inhabitants of Canaan. If a person was not a member of the children of Israel then the blessings, cursings were not for them.

God gives us reminders, guidance, blessing, discipline, and corrections because you are saved and His child. God's only directive to the lost is to be saved!

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to find you a Church - In Reply on Galatians 5 - 3 years ago
This is a subject everyone tries to prove this day or that day.

The Bible also says, don't forsake gathering together. It didn't instruct a certain day.

In my evangelical experiences, it is more important to attend a Church that actually opens the Bible and teaches the scriptures.

I do not believe a Church that expounds on marriage counseling, parenting, being an active citizen in projects: not growing their lambs up into full grown sheep; to follow the Shepherd who is Jesus Christ. We have such a short time to help our children know who Christ is: before they have a public school try to beat it out of them. Parents are pastors too. Deuteronomy 11:19. The first churches were in homes.

The Bible is supposed to change lives; put life into the perspective of our Saviors Life and Ministry. Acts 2:42-47

Our lives will default back to simplicity if we turn off the tv and actually talk to each other. Refuse cell phones to teens till they can pay for it themselves and for the monthly service. It's not cruel. It teaches responsibility, good credit rating, budgeting time, balancing time to earn money, do their "jobs" to pay their bills. Life skills 101.

I have a hated sermon called: don't end up on the Dr Phil show. My Dad always told me "I'm doing this for your own good". Forcing me to learn car maintenance 101. I miss him so much. I taught it to my son and he was 21 when he bought his first house. He taught his 7 yr old to fix a leaking toilet last week.

Kids just want some of your time, you know? The rewards far outweigh the laundry waiting 1 day. They're so smart if you pour yourself into them. Kinda like Jesus did with his disciples.

My first solo street ministry ended with me telling a group of drunks they were going to hell. Later I was Dejected! The Lord said: are you done doing it your way? I was hearing him in my spirit! I said, Yes Sir!! My life has been sad. I met Jesus. It's been the best since then.

    Hi David W Black,

I agree that Cain inherited his sinful nature from Adam. Before Adam & Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good & evil they knew no sin because they were made in the image of God. It was only after they ate from the tree that they new good & evil.

Jesus is our role model on how we [should] live. [If] it was [impossible] for us to [sin no more] then Jesus wouldn't of commanded us to [do] it.

John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: [sin no more], lest a worse thing come unto thee.

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and [sin no more].

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we [keep] his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

    On DEUT. 11:16

The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and not for any private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20). If it records in Rev. 12:9 that this whole world has been deceived, it did not speak of a particular country, group of people, person or religion, it meant the whole world.

For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom 2 Cor. 11:13-15) this whole world has been deceived and what mankind must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( Matthew 7:7; John 14:17).

The word 'Repent' in different forms (repent, repentance, repented, repentest, repenteth, repenting), is mentioned 110 times in the KJV, and there seems to be a great misconception what the true 'spiritual' meaning of the word is. The word 'repent' used in the New Testament was translated from the Greek word "metanoeo", and means to change, transform, to think differently or reconsider.

Only through Repentance will God be able to reveal Himself, and adopt you as His sons and daughters ( Rom. 8:15,23; 2 Cor.6:18; Gal. 4:5; Eph. 1:5; Hebr. 12:5; 1 John 3:1) and reveal to you how this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9) and overcome this world ( 1 John 5:4).

The word 'Repent' means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

It is only by revelation of God that people will come to know the true Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1). It should also be remembered that it is a narrow way that leadeth unto 'Life', and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14).

So they could have a choice.

    Joseph in Charge of Egypt

41 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt." 42 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph's finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. 43 He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command,[a] and people shouted before him, "Make way[b]!" Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.

44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt." 45 Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah and gave him Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On,[c] to be his wife. And Joseph went throughout the land of Egypt.

46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh's presence and traveled throughout Egypt.

    Deuteronomy 11:26

    "Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;

    Deuteronomy 11:27

"A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:"

    Deuteronomy 11:28

"And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known."

The lights (the 2 greatest commandments) in the firmament of the Heaven (the expansion of the hearing of Heaven) are for signs, seasons, days and years.

For days and years..they will prolong our days upon this earth.

Deuteronomy 6:2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

For length of days and long life (literally, years of life) the doing of His commandments do add unto us.

Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

    (2) For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

They shall multiply our daysas the days of Heaven upon the earth:

    Deuteronomy 11:21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

The doing of His commandments shall give us fruitful seasons

    Leviticus 26:3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

    (4) Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

They are for signs.you shall bind them for a sign upon your handremembering to do them always.

Deuteronomy 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

In doing so, we shall shine as the stars turning many to His righteousness.

We shall be His many infallible signs to this dark world that Jesus is truly alive as we live.

Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Verse 1: We should always love God and keep his commandments always. We must do so even when this may be difficult for us.

Thank you Steve; as always, very important and pertinent Scriptures! "LAY UP THESE MY WORDS IN YOUR --- HEART --- AND IN YOUR SOUL AND BIND THEM FOR A SIGN UPON YOUR HAND THAT THEY MAY BE AS FRONTLETS BETWEEN YOUR EYES" We are utterly dependent upon the word of God in every conceivable aspect of our life. If we do not read it through, write it down, pray it in, and work it out; then we will fail!

Obedience to God's Word. It's so very simple. Nothing to 'think' about. The Word of God is so very plain. Acts 2:37 - 38. " ..... what shall we do?" Then Peter's answer. Jesus said, in Matt. 6:33, preparing people for the day of Pentecost in Acts Ch. 2 - "Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God (salvation), and all these things shall be added unto you." the things of this life , food, raiment, shelter.

I thought about it and I think that Israelities had more of a Blessing then a curse, yes they had to pay for their sins and follow the commandment to the T,but if you were not within the LORDS army or on his side you would perish with no chance of Salvation or Atonement, you just simply died,Israelities had a chance alot of the people did not have,so I see it as a BLESSING more then a CURSE,a GIFT..

The forewarning of the Lord to Israel is as true to us today as it was to them. We should hearken and be forearmed.
