Matthew 1:1 give you the actual seed line or genealogy of him. His birth is foretold as fast back as Deuteronomy 18:15-19 scriptures 15 and 18 being the points of interest. Matthew 1:14 let's you know how many generations it was from Abraham to the Anointed One.

1Samuel 28:11-12,14, 1Samuel 28:15, says & "Samuel said" it has been noted in the Bible even in this very chapter that it's wicked & under GOD's laws penalty of death. Exodus 22:18, 1Samuel 28:3

    GOD had left Saul, 1Samuel 28:6 because Saul 1st left GOD in all his doings, 1Samuel 13, 1Samuel 14, & 15, including killing GOD's priests 1Samuel 22:11-19, & pursued trying to kill David his faithful servant, son-in-law & person GOD used to save Israel & Saul's throne. 1Samuel 16:21, 1Samuel 17,

it lead to an evil spirit harrassing him. Even before he killed GOD's Priests. 1Samuel 16:23, 1Samuel 18:10-12,

    1Samuel 15:23,

    Exodus 22:18, Deuteronomy 18:10,

In Egypt & Babylon people practiced evil that had effects yet GOD always proves to be GOD ALMIGHTY. Exodus 1, begins the events

Daniel 1, starts Daniel's account in Babylon..

Even in the last days there will be false signs & wonders. Revelation 13,

It's important to know the power of GOD & stay far from evil .

The power of GOD= heals, sets free, saves, brings justice, redeems, supernaturally protects, HIS HOLY Spirit brings peace, wisdom, understanding, hope & joy beyond understanding.

Hello Cinda. As you may have been reading in Deuteronomy 18:9-14, the various occultish practises of the heathen were made known to the children of Israel, that when they come into their lands to conquer them, they don't adopt any of their practises, especially noted are these particularly wicked ones. And so an "observer of times" were those that used divination & the stars to deem certain days as more special than others. Even cloud formations were used to make predictions.

All these practises were not only devilish, but also demonstrated a clear lack of trust in God Who alone has the power & authority to instigate events in both personal life & in the worlds He has made. Even the Apostle Paul in Galatians 4:9-11 was very concerned for such practises still going on amongst some believers, as it is evident today, with the occult & horoscopes, that even believers sometimes resort to, to their hurt.

    Yes David

We should live obedient, godly lives because of who God is, not for what we may get from Him.

the more we grow in love for Him, the more we will seek Him for Who He is, because He will be all the Treasure we need.

Charles, where does it say "rewards that be earned crowns and jewels"? I'm saying to believe and obey the Lord. I did not say Jesus and do whatever you want because of grace. Believe in Him and His word.
  • Charles Robert Northup - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18 - 4 years ago
God swore His wrath on the disobedient, so you have to obey as well, it's more than that there are rewards that can be earned crowns and jewels and your judge on what you do after you are saved Grace covers the sin you committed before you were saved the one's afterwards you have repent of and ask for forgiveness. You can't say Jesus and do whatever you want because of grace.

You may find what you're looking for in Genesis 1:1. In the beginning Elohim created the heaven and the earth.

Elohim is used in the plural form.

Genesis 1:26. And Elohim said, Let "US" make man in "OUR" image, after "OUR" likeness: The us and our being used here is embodied in the Elohim. They're not angels. Angels did not assist in making man but the word of God did!!

John 1:1-3. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Elohim is used throughout until you get to Genesis 3:21. Unto Adam also and to his wife did the "LORD God" make coats of skins, and clothed them.

After he made coats of skin from that day forward I believe he uses the covenant name LORD GOD "YHWH ELOHIM."

In Genesis 3:15. we come to the seed of the woman. That's a reference and title to the Lord Jesus Christ. The term itself is a contradiction Biologically and according to the Hebrew grammar. Biologically the seed is of the man. BUT JESUS WASN'T CONCEIVED BY MAN!! Jesus wasn't tied to Adam genetically. He was the 2nd Adam directly out of the bosom of the Father, meaning out of Everlasting. He's part of the Elohim.

In the Hebrew Genealogies the seed always referenced the man but Jesus Genealogy links directly to God. That's why it doesn't say seed of Adam.

In the Torah Moses referred you to him.

    Deuteronomy 18:18-19.

    Acts 7:37-38.

And this is how Jesus refer to himself,

Revelation 1:8. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

As Moses said, "Like unto me, Hear you him.

    God bless.

Chris asked if someone can share prophetic today. I've been researching that since sometime 2019-presently. There is a website called Elijah List, it has several 'prophetic words' listed for multiple years of several "Prophets" I have been able to read many then go back to check older archived words. I prayerfully read many some have been accurate. Two people really stand out today as very accurate propheticly Hank Kunneman & Amanda Grace both have been very accurate about several things. The things that were most accurate that came to pass Pastor Hank Kunneman said 2018 they wouldn't be successful in 'impeachment' that they would try twice both would fail, that the decade would start off harsh, last year snow in unusual places to be a sign that GOD hears our cries & HE will cleanse ._.etc. Amanda Grace, Ark of Grace Ministries said High tech CEO's would resign right before Bezos did, said NY Como would be caught up in scandal & resign, warning him to repent. Then said because he didn't his own party would turn against him & he would resign this year.

Further researching I found Bob Jones & John Paul Jackson both deceased had propheied about "a perfect storm" coming to America which both were uncomfortably accurate they explained it to be s combination of many elements of Government, financial, real storms, financial, racial unrest, fires in our streets. Jackson even spoke of the storm being about 300 miles wide "Dorian"?

    Even with accurate prophecy please remember the WORD of GOD Jeremiah 27 & 28, Hosea 12:13, 1 Kings 13, Ezekiel 14:1-10, Matthew 10:41, Deuteronomy 18:15-22, John 4:44, Luke 4:24, * Deuteronomy 13:1-5, Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17-19

Hopefully all this is helpful in your research.

Chris To answer your question yes because anything the true God does the adversary counterfeits it and gives a com bination of truth and lies. What was conjured up by the witch of endor was a devil spirit known as a familiar spirit [necromancer]which means it knew what saul looked like and how he spoke and what he knew when he was living. Everything that the Counterfeit Samuel said was accurate including the part where Saul was going to die because the adversary knew Saul was dead. The dead are dead and will not resurrect until either the gathering together of the church return of Christ if born again or the resurrection of the just and unjust in the book of revelation. I know christians don't believe this stuff is real but that's what makes the adversary the father of lies. Remember in Genesis thou shalt not die you'll be as smart as God when God said thou shalt surely die and they lost there spiritual connection and eventually took last breath and returned to dust of the ground. Not one place in the bible are they called demons they are devils or messengers of Satan they are spirit beings only working for the enemy. Saul not only sought her advice but broke bread with her that's how checked out saul was mentally. Look at Deuteronomy 18:9-12, the Witch of Endor knew this! There's more to this field of understanding it is a significant part of our spiritual battle. Also seances where they say they talk to the deceased same trip different method, these were held at the white house by several presidents wives!

The correct verses of scripture to reference regarding this question is Exodus 20:3-6 quotes, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."

I Corinthians 12 is referring to the Gifts of the Spirit. This whole chapter in 1 Corinthians 12 has nothing to do with addressing graven images of Jesus Christ.

Hi Juan, it is resolved that the Word is Jesus in this passage- one has to twist things significantly to get it to mean anything else, as already demonstrated. Open dialog is good, but we should pray for wisdom first before reading the Bible and ask God for understanding. We must seek Him. If someone attempts to undermine Jesus' divinity, that should always be a red flag. Such things don't come from God. We must keep our armor of God on and keep watch. The Bible predicts there will be deceivers, 1 John 2:22, Mark 13:22, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12, Matthew 24:24. It sounds unbelievable, but some Christians I've heard even elevate themselves on the same level as Jesus Christ, which fits what these verses say will happen near the end times.

    God bless...
  • Chris - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18:18 - 5 years ago
James. Indeed, "God (the Word) was in Christ" - none can doubt that Truth, as Jesus only spoke what was given to Him of the Father. And yes, "God put his words in the mouth of his Son". John 12:49,50: "For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." Also John 8:28, etc.

Therefore, there can be no argument on that score as Jesus spoke those words as the Son of God. But the question remains: where was Jesus before His appearance on the Earth, coming as a Babe, born of a woman? And this is the difficulty with many: how can this human Jesus have a pre-existence? How can God's spoken Word even be made into flesh? And then we could & should also ask: How can God send out His Spirit to accomplish His Will on Earth if God is One, not two, three or more? It seems reasonable to understand that if God can issue out His Spirit (from within Himself) to do a Work, so can He issue out His Word (from within Himself) to bring it to His people. This He did through the prophets of old, but "Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds" ( Heb 11:2).

Leaving aside John 1, Heb 11:2 tells us that God's Son brought God's Word & this Son is heir of all things & through WHOM God created the worlds. This is written plainly: that God's Word was made flesh to bring God's Word (and we know why He had to be man). Is it because you cannot envisage that a Word from God can be given flesh? Is not "God able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham?" Are Jesus' Words, "Before Abraham was, I am", have any significance to the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ? Let us not limit the Power of God by our weak human understanding & perceptions. I would be interested in how you would interpret these Scriptures.
  • Adam - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18:18 - 5 years ago
James, that is indeed a creative interpretation I've never heard before. You claimed 'this is where your grave error starts', but have you considered if it's yours. The entire chapter is about the Word, who is Jesus, and the first 5 verses don't even change the subject in terms of the English. You could probably hand these first 5 verses to any English teacher in the world and they will know it's the same subject. Let's break it down...

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    Subject: Word

2The same was in the beginning with God.

Subject: Word (because it says "The same was..." so it's the same Word)

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Subject: Word. In this language we are still talking about the same entity, unless there's an obvious change.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Subject: Word, and introduced a new synonym: the "light of men"

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Subject: Word, using the new name "light"

6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

Subject: John. See how when it changes subjects, it's obvious? There was a man... whose name was John.

So, if what you're saying is true about He/Him in v3 suddenly switching characters without warning, it's inconsistent with the rest of the writing.

Then in v6-7 it says that John came to witness to the Light who is the Word, and it only further confirms it's Jesus as in v14 it says the Word became flesh. I wonder how you would interpret that to fit your current belief?

Do you believe Jesus is Lord? Romans 10:9.

Do you believe the Lord is God as it says in John 20:28?

    God bless...
  • Brother Dan - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18:18 - 5 years ago
I agree, when Christ speaks....the words come from God his Father. Amen.

    John 12:49

"For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak."

    John 14:10

"Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

    God bless

    God Bless

Senior I am so confused. Teachers are taught that Jesus is the word of OT/NT. Scholars disagree the same. It needs to be resolved.
  • James - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18:18 - 5 years ago
Adam, you said: "He, the Word, was also the light of men. I hope we agree on that. So far we have 2 different names/metaphors used to refer to Him."

This is where your grave error starts. The "Him" and "He" in John 1:3,4 is refering to God. Not the Son of God or the mythological god the son. The Word is God and God is a Spirit. Just like you have your word. Your word is not another person from you. It is you. When you speak, it is you who speaks, not a co equal person.

God did not become a man, he is not a man. But God was manifest in the flesh, he came in the flesh.
  • James - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18:18 - 5 years ago
You misunderstand, Chris. Of a truth, the word was put into the mouths of many men. But none of these men (except one) were the only begotten Son of God. god the son is a fable and does not exist. God (the Word) was in Christ. God put his words in the mouth of his Son. Jesus said that the words he spake were not his own, but his Father's.
  • Chris - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18:18 - 5 years ago
Hi James. You said, "The Word is not a person. The Word is the word. A 5 year old can understand this. God put his words in the mouth of a man. This is how the Word (the Word of God) was made flesh."

As you know, the Word of God was put into many men over the ages. Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, the prophets, & many others. Was this Word from God also made flesh in them as well? If so, of what importance, relevance or accuracy would this interpretation be? We are never told that the Word became flesh to any of these men: they were just men chosen by God to bring forth His Word to His people. As far as I can discern, the messages that came to them to be given to the people, were simply God's Word for Israel's obedience, knowledge & instruction - there was no reconstruction of that Word into a fleshly form - it was just an echo of God's direct Word to them.

But when Jesus came on the scene, He didn't just echo God's Word to Israel, but He was the Word of God - He wasn't just a Proclaimer but the Word was His Character. If this were not so, He would have been just as all the other prophets in the past (no different, no better). But Hebrews 1:1-3 tells us that this Prophet was different in His Birth ('express Image of God'), in His Glory ('the brightness of God's Glory'), in His creative Work ('made the worlds & upholds all things by His Power'), in His Sacrifice ('purging our sins'), in His return to His Glory, John 17:5 ('at the right Hand of God').

If you see this Jesus & believe that He was just another Prophet or a godly Man chosen of God, how does God's Word brought out through flesh have any relevance on God's Word made flesh? The former was given by man inspired by God. The latter was done by God sent out from within Himself, so that His Word would become flesh (man) for our sakes, which no other prophet could ever do. This separated Jesus from all others. John 1:14: "..the only begotten (unique, one of a kind) of the Father...".

    Hello brother Adam,

As I really don't know of many groups though I have seen it here by some numerous times.

The first that come to mind that discredit the divinity of Christ are I believe, Jehovah's Witnesses, Muslims, and non converted Jewish people of coarse. And to note one thing at the end of a comment in that "Christ did not exist before His birth and neither did you or I". Well no one except Jesus Christ was born of a virgin conceived of the Holy Ghost.

Some have tried to say that "stating Jesus Christ is more than a man is idolatry" Which is very sad to me. As in Scriptures like 1 John 2:23 or John 14:6. Even in my own personal experience. I prayed to God for most of my life. Though when I was led to Jesus Christ and knew He was from God reading His teachings. After giving myself to Him my entire life changed from the inside out. Praise the Lord!

Wondering too if what has changed is the Christian for worldly wants is taking vengeance to himself. This is likely a sign of the times. Brother Chris recently wrote on how only God can seek vengeance. Jesus is, was , and always will be the Lamb of God.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on Deuteronomy 18:18 - 5 years ago
Richard, May CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

Christ did exist before from the beginning.

The answer is in the parable of the sower of the seed. The seed is the word of God; Jesus is the (promised) seed to Abraham, Issac and Jacob. A seed has become a plant (in this case a man) before it can produce seed (other men) exact like itself.
