    Your comment is appreciated Hugo. Indeed, the Church has been blessed with many gifted with abilities from God. And prophecy was one of them. Some would argue the prophetical content of those so gifted: are they establishing the published prophecies in the Word, or are they proclaiming something added to existing prophecies, or even something totally new as some have been prophesying on future events from present news. To this, I am very concerned & of course, the truth of the prophecy can be verified by its outcome: Deuteronomy 18:20-22.

    The Bible, in totality, is God's Word, past, present & future, to mankind. Prophets in the past have received God's Word directly to them which they have faithfully passed on. Others such as the apostles, in the new Church age, took up those prophecies & shed further light on them as they were led of the Spirit. Sometimes, they declared a 'mystery', something which was not revealed or clearly seen before (e.g. Romans 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:51, 2 Thessalonians 2:7, & others). And the union of believing Jew & Gentile in Christ's Church is seen today in full measure.

    In the Church now, which has the whole counsel of God in the Word & by His Spirit, any prophetical utterance has to be seen & tested by what has already been revealed. The fear that I expressed concerns the volume of cults & other God-centric religions that proclaim & prophesy matters that are not in the Bible, even anti-biblical & anti-Christian in content. And we also have a plethora of those who want to tingle our ears with something new so that we might be drawn to their 'prophecies or delusions', even donating money to keep their ministry going & our accepting them as fact rather than seeing them as 'an opinion', yet to be verified. Where is that "one prophet" of God out of a 1000 false ones that will make our hearts & spirits burn with joy & hope, rather than tingle our ears with nonsense? Blessings & peace on you too brother.

    Wesley's Notes for Deuteronomy 18:9

    18:8 Like portions - With their brethren who were in actual ministration: as they share with them in the work, so shall they in the encouragements. Beside that which cometh - The reason of this law was, because he that waited on the altar, ought to live by the altar: and because it was fit he should keep his money, wherewith he might redeem what he sold, if afterwards he saw occasion for it. Mr. Henry adds a remarkable note here: especially considering he wrote threescore years ago. A hearty, pious zeal to serve God and his church, tho' it may a little encroach upon a settled order, and there may be somewhat in it that looks irregular, yet ought to be gratified, and not discouraged. He that loves dearly to be employed in the service of the sanctuary: in God's name let him minster. He shall be as welcome to God as the Levites, whose course it was to minister, and should be so to them.

    18:10 Useth divination - Foretelleth things secret or to come, by unlawful arts and practices. An observer of times - Superstitiously pronouncing some days lucky, and others unlucky. Or, an observer of the clouds or heavens, one that divineth by the motions of the clouds, by the stars, or by the flying or chattering of birds, all which Heathens used to observe. An enchanter - Or, a conjurer , that discovers hidden things by a superstitious use of words or ceremonies, by observation of water or smoke or any contingencies. A witch - One that is in covenant with the devil.

    18:11 A charmer - One that charmeth serpents or other cattle. Or, a fortune - teller, that foretelleth the events of men's lives by the conjunctions of the stars. Spirits - Whom they call upon by certain words or rites. A wizard - Heb. a knowing man, who by any forbidden way's undertakes the revelation of secret things. A necromancer - One that calleth up and enquireth of the dead.

    I do not want to be contrary, but there are scriptures that are coming to mind.

    Isaiah 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

    God says by his prophet that he will tell his people (Israel) what is to come to pass before it happens. Things coming to pass would include both the blessings and judgement. No prophet from between Malachi and Jesus has predicted the extreme and severe and by my heart horrific events that many Jewish believers have suffered.

    Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like

    unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

    This Prophet , Jesus, fulfilled this passage. It is from this Prophet, Jesus Christ on that will predict what is yet to come to pass before it passes for all people including all Jews and Gentiles.

    Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

    Psalms 22:16-18 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

    Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

    Isaiah 9:5-7 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

    Isaiah 11:2-9 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

    Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, [though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

    Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

    John 1:41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

    John 4:25-26 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

    John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

    Messiah came. On the day he was crucified, well over 100 prophesies about him had bee fulfilled. You compare those prophesies with the recorded historical account of that time.
  • The Third Eye on Mark 10:9 - 5 years ago
    Here's that 3rd Eye scripture. Just because you put a red dot on your face doesn't mean it's from God.

    Ask someone who was rescued out of the occult! What goes around comes back around: that's karma. Occult!

    Read your Bible as is. That's your revelation. Every time you read the book of Revelation, you get a blessing from God.

    Deuteronomy 18:10-12

    There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices DIVINATION tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

    People be aware. There will be many false Christ's, false prophets, people who say they have a new revelation. God hates that stuff.

    If you would ask the Holy Spirit to TEACH you the Bible.....you'd wake up raring to hit the Bible hard every day! Can't no one Teach like the Holy Spirit can.

    If you want to learn the deep things of God, then be willing to log in many many hours studying with the Holy Spirit! He WANTS to teach you. THEN, He wants you to teach it to others. No interpretation is just for private.

    Ask the Holy Spirit about that 3rd eye thing and then sit before him, stilled, until He replies.

    If Satan can't get us on heroin, he'll find all kinds of newfangled theories to waste time pondering on. Look up that scripture in the search box: "Your adversary the Devil..."

    Verse 10~This shows the hatred that Jehovah God has for child sacrifice and for any magic or things dealing with the bad spirit forces.
  • BSP on Deuteronomy 18 - 8 years ago
    Verse 18~These words found their major fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Jehovah God used not only another human prophet, but his only-begotten son Jesus Christ.

    Sheena; You shall not be afraid of false prophets! The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, and the foundation of repentance and conversion out of an honest and sincere heart. Our conscience smites us sore when we do wrong, because it is the Spirit of God convicting us and warning us away from the evil and worthless ways of the devil. The man sent from God speaks by God!

    There is only one True living GOD. ( 1st John 5:7) For there are three that bear record in heaven the FATHER, the WORD and the HOLY SPIRIT: these three are one. Read John1:1; John 10:30 I and my Father are one. Matt 28:19; John 14:26.

    This is NOT a rebuke; simply a statement: Moses was not a Levite; his brother Aaron and his sons were; Aaron was the only one could go into the Holy of Holies. Moses was just a GREAT prophet and FRIEND of God.
  • Matt on Deuteronomy 18 - 9 years ago
    Moses was a ''type'' of Christ, not a god at all, period. He was a Levite, and was chosen to instruct the Israelites to worship God, and to prepare the way for our Savior. Jesus Christ, The Savior, is the only begotten Son of God: God Himself manifested in the flesh. The Prophet Moses wrote of in this chapter is Jesus. The Lord says this to the Pharisee Jews in John ch. 5: "for he wrote of Me."
  • Billy Blazier on Deuteronomy 18 - 9 years ago
    God is the father Jesus is the only begotten son and word of God in the flesh John CH 1 Moses is NOT a god but a chosen vessel and his brother Arron went with him are you calling him a god to? Read the story and you will have your answer.

    Jacob, Read the verse I gave in my last post. Also 2 John 1:7 "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." 1 John 4:3, 1 John 4:2. If you do not believe that Christ came in the flesh (he is a man) you won't get what God is telling you in all the verse I wrote.
  • JACOB on Deuteronomy 18 - 10 years ago
    LU2677- - - You said that in JOHN 14:10 is the answer who's the Prophet that Jesus mentioning to. I've read it but Jesus just says "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.". Jesus still did not tell us who is the Prophet. Help me plz. Tq

    Jacob, concerning Deuteronomy 18:18-19. Please read John 6:14,7:40, Acts 3:22-23, 7:37.
    Try to believe that verse tells us that the Prophet the Lord God raised up is Jesus Christ. May the Lord lead you into His Truth.
  • Jacob on Deuteronomy 18 - 10 years ago
    LU2677 - - about Deuteronomy 18:18-19, i don't know until now and confuse, who's that PROPHET which is Jesus mentioning to. Because Jesus says, A Prophet and it's a man.

    Lu2677 - - The book of Deuteronomy 18:18-19 "I will raise them up a PROPHET from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in HIS mouth; and HE shall speak unto them all that I shall command HIM.
    19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which HE shall speak in my name, I will require it of HIM."

    Who's the Prophet that Jesus mentioning to?
  • Callistus on Deuteronomy 18:15 - 10 years ago
    Jesus is that prophet and God confirmed this during the transfiguration of Jesus on the mount but the question is,do we here Him today? do we keep his commandments? Many today have twisted his teachings to meet their their whims and caprices not minding that they are on their way to hell . Note John12:48 and Matt7:21. May God help his people who are being deceived every day. Amen
