  • John L QUESTION ON 10 COMMANDMENTS on Matthew 4:7 - 5 years ago
There are two sets of Ten Commandments. Exodus 20:1-17 and Exodus 34:10-28.

TWICE Moses went upon the mountain and did not eat or drink for 40 days!

The 10 Commandments of Exodus 34:10-28 are specifically referred to as "the ten commandments" ( Exodus 34:28, Deuteronomy 4:13, 10:4)

There are differences in the two sets of Commandments. Which set are we to follow? Are we to combine them?

With regards to this thread, I must ask for my own clarification, "How is the cross any different?"

We worship the lamb, the cross, etc.

    Made by men's hands...

No life or breathe in them...

Not trying to be argumentative; it just always pricks me when I read these scriptures because not only do I believe in devotional studies, but I also believe in keeping the context and reading from Genesis to Revelations.

Amen we must understand the truth and realize that Jesus the mighty God ,Jehovah ,heavenly father was manifested in the flesh according to 1 Timothy 3:16 a lot of Christian's are confused about this as Phillip was in John 14:8-9 Jesus said he that hath seen me hath seen the Father.God the one and only manifested in the flesh is Jesus Christ the head of All principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10

Yes They are One in Spirit 1John5:7-21 but not the flesh. Jesus was known as God on earth but He is not our Heavenly Abba Father who is in Authority and gave Jesus His Authority 1Cor13:24-28 The Holy Ghost Testifies of Them both to bring Them Glory John15:26-27 and we don't Blaspheme Him by calling Him a liar. We need God's Wisdom to fully Understand His Truth, we Ask Receive and Believe Jam1:5-8.

True Stanjett, Pagans worship their images and even Animals and as you said there are others who have been also been deceived by false teachers so they have been lead to Worship images too. But do we reject them even though some have Polluted what God calls good like Christmas and Easter Remberances. He knows their Hearts and will rescue them Through hearing His Truth shared in Love Rom10 and 11.

I agree BSP with what The Lord our Creator tells us in V2 and in Rev22 both are in Referance to all Scripture in our Bibles His Book of Prophesy. So why do JW and other Cults disobey Him are they listening to false teachers instead of to Jesus our only Spiritual Teacher Matt23:8-10 don't they ask for His Wisdom Jas1or do they keep asking and still Trust in a Man or Woman's fleshy understanding.
  • Liberty in Life - In Reply on Deuteronomy 4 - 6 years ago
Very True Stanjett and it is the same with God's Creation of Animals some Worship them and give them His Glory or put them first in their Hearts including before the needs of others. I have heard said that Butterflies are Magic or they are family Reincarnated. So do we reject God's Creation because of their evil thinking No but as you shared we don't Worship them or put them before God or others.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Deuteronomy 4 - 6 years ago
I don't know if they are forbidden or not but if you pray to them and bow down to them or worship them, THAT is forbidden. Be not like some that bow down and pray to Mary and statues of other graven idols. To God and Jesus only shall thou prayers be.
  • Obbie Beal on Deuteronomy 4 - 6 years ago
40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever. Wow! Wow! Wow! To GOD be all Honor Glory, and Praise.
  • Octavia on 1 Esdras 1 - 6 years ago
To the first comment, why would God have them take away from his book when he clearly states that no one should not add nor take away from his word. God is not a God of confusion. Deuteronomy 4:2 King James Version KJV 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Many, many, many years before becoming Saved by the Grace of God, when I was still in the Marines and trained to see when others were having issues and were suicidal I neglected to see that my very own brother became a heroin addict and then died with a needle in his arm in a hotel room bathroom. My best advice would be to always be there for them and pray with for them, Deuteronomy 4:29-31.

Verse 1: The way that the Israelites viewed the commandments from Jehovah God and if they observed them meant the difference between life and death.

They weren't "Sanctuary Cities" like we think of today; where everyone here illegally can be "protected" from the Law of the land: but they were specifically for those who accidentally killed someone, without having wicked intention beforehand. Innocent blood defiles the land and makes the whole country guilty until that innocent blood is removed, by the blood of the wicked murderer who shed it.
  • Jacquelyne on Deuteronomy 4 - 8 years ago
I am taken at the fact that Moses built 3 cities specifically for people who committed crimes against their neighbors accidentally. He gave them a place of saftey. I believe these were cities of refuge. You cannot do that for your fellowman unless you have a forgiving heart. We must allow GOD to be the only judge in these matters. We all make mistakes but we all don't get caught. Love
  • Brianna vs. 15-20 on Deuteronomy 4 - 9 years ago
Idol worship! Vs. 15 warned the Jews, and warns us, to be very careful and watch ourselves closely. God warned about being "seduced" into idol worship. I like vs. 16 where it warns about making idols to represent any symbol. The revered cross has certainly crept into Christianity. People view it as a trinket and use it regularly in worship. Is it befitting for a Christian to have?
  • Irene123 on Deuteronomy 4 - 9 years ago
The O.T. name of God translates into Jesus in the Greek of the N.T., but - the Jews didn't believe in Jesus so ..................
  • Seven Trumpets on Deuteronomy 4 - 9 years ago
The "Original" in Hebrew; Yode He Vav He, pronounced by many as, Yehovah; was re-written as "Adonai" or, LORD by the Jews, out of fear of pronouncing the Name of "I AM." There is a verse in Amos which I believe foretells that the Jews at one point, would forbid to say the LORD's name. Amos 6:10 "...for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD." Since then, most translations do the same.
  • Brianna on Deuteronomy 4 - 9 years ago
Vs. 4 Seems almost like a contradiction with this translation. I have to agree with Nkosilathi's thought. Was capital LORD originally written or was the Divine Name "YAHWEH" OR "JEHOVAH" written?

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me for they are thine. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
  • Elizabeth Bhatoy on Deuteronomy 4 - 10 years ago
You are absolutely correct the person who put that there is only one God and Jesus is his son (you backed this up with scripture). The person who wrote "God the Father, God the son and God the holy spirit" did not back this up from scripture, that is because its not in the bible , it is church teaching. It doesn't say "God the son" but son of God or son of man.

We are to be reminded that God is still speaking to us Today through the Power of His Holy Spirit let us consider what is the graven image in our lives now note verse 16-19 lets remember although Jesus died to rescue us from the penalty of sin and is seated at the right hand of God as our petitioner we must remember we must put His commands first and thank Him for the the access of restoration by the Blood of Jesus Christ
