Fundamental Monotheism - Christianity, having emerged from Judaism, is a monotheistic religion. Never in the N.T. Testament does the Trinitarian concept become a "trithism" nor even 2. God is ONE and that God is a single being is strongly declared in the Bible: The Shema - Deut.6:4; 5:7; Isa. 44:6; Mk.12:29. unquote. Only Deut. 6:4 is called the 'Shema'.

The 12 Commandments are rendered here for our admonition, adherence and guidance. Not to be found blameworthy in the Judgement Seat of Christ, we need to seek and earnestly pray for God's Grace and His salvation in order to abide by the dictates of the Commandments. Flesh alone will fail us. Amazing Grace will ensure we resist the devil so it will flee from us.
  • Larry Ashmore on Deuteronomy 5 - 8 years ago
The main thing i understand from the Lord God is he wants us to do his commanments and keep the sabbath holy which i see today that most people don,t, love the Love with all your heart and soul and worship no other God,s or idols, fore our true God is a jealous God, fore those who disobey the wrath of God is severe.

Absolutely right. The ten commandments have always be in effect. They're written on the tables of the hearts of man. It's how we come to repent and to be saved. They have always been around. For example, Cain knew it was a sin to murder and he was alive way before Moses. So, people who forsake the law, are disobedient to God and it makes me question the validity of their salvation.
  • Rsol on Deuteronomy 5 - 8 years ago
I think He did fulfill the 10 commandments. And new covenant is better than the old Hebrews 8 and the new is not pertaining to the old (vrs 9) and the big ten is referred to as the ministry of death and condemnation in 1 Corp 3:6-11. But mixing the two covenants is like mixing cold and hot or like mixing old wines kins and new wine.
  • Enrique Small on Deuteronomy 5 - 8 years ago
He stated 'The law', singular. There is a difference to stating 'laws', plural. We have to be careful with things like that.
  • Rich on Deuteronomy 5 - 8 years ago
If you mean that the ten commandments are in effect in order to be saved, the bible is clear that only through faith in Jesus Christ and his death on the cross resolves our sin debt. Jesus I believe gave us the law to show mankind that we are all sinners and we require a sinless savior the other reason in by keeping his commandments we show our god given love for others. partial answer!
  • Maria Sanabria on Deuteronomy 5 - 8 years ago

  • Dewey Jones on Deuteronomy 5 - 9 years ago
Maria, God has forgiven you for your past therefore, it is time you forgive yourself. You don't have too worry about him leaving or forsaking you. Matt. 28:20 Jesus says, "Lo I am with you always even unto the end of the world". Glory be to God in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Amen

I am 55 years old.and I ran a bad life when I was young. The good Lord gave me the best mother I ever known, to bad I didn't take advantage of her. Instead I did wrong. I was in drug, drink, went jail, then prison. I lost my mother that I love with all my heart. And she was not my real mother. But to her I was everything.how I regret mow what I have done. Today I read my bible ask my lord for forgiveness, and now at the age of 55, I am not the same person I use to be. The Lord has changed my life. But now I am alone in this world. And it is hard. But I believe in God and that he loves me as well.its still hard for me to forget the things I did when my mother was alive it's hard. I pray that the Lord well never leave me, and forgive me for what I've done, to keep me teachable, to give me the wisdom, and to help me understand and how to read his word. I am lonely in this world but I have my God. And I beg him never leave me. My health is not very good today, so what ever days I have left thank you Lord for all you done . I love you. I miss you mom. Thank you .Maria molina

In answer to Stephen 's comment , this verse is mentioning our time, right now, today. Religion is still scattered, and each person is walking in the name of their god, whether it be Buddha, Vishnu, or Zeus. Micah was bring out that while everyone is walking in the name of their God, he and other loyal servant would be walking proudly in the name of his God, Jehovah. When Jehovah God acts the second coming , there will only be one God and people will worship him in unity. Deuteronomy 5:9 brings out that HE is a God exacting exclusive devotion. Hope that helps Stephen! Thanks

The seventh day is the sabbath. Saturday. proof is Jesus rose on the first day and pagans keep Easter which is Sunday..so clearly Saturday is the seventh day of the week Sunrise to sunrise is the sabbath. Leviticus explains that its evening to evening, however this changed when Joshua made the sun stand still ...so the sabbath is now sunrise to sunrise. The word dawn was created in Joshua kjv to remind us of this. Dawn means beginning of day or time ... for more info or proof I will gladly explain exactly how it is so

Have truer words ever been spoken? BY doing things Jehovah 's way, by obeying the Bible, I can truly say that my life is relatively free from problems. By obeying the counsel of abstaining from unclean things, I am not plagued with the problems of alcohol, drugs, or other unclean habits. By obeying the counsel on fornication and adultery, I have not dealt with unwanted pregnancies, or the hardships of being a single parent, or even the heartbreak of courtship with someone who does not live by Bible Standards. The bible truly can help you to have a satisfying life, just as it has helped me.
  • Shay on Deuteronomy 5:21 - 10 years ago
Whether single or married, all need to bear in mind Jesus words. Coveting another person 's marriage mate is a sin. If one begins to entertain such a covetous desire, he or she should act quickly to rout out the unclean desire, even at the cost of a great emotional pain because of having allowed selfish cravings to develop.

This chapter in the bible is a important part inwhich gives knowedge that there are laws of god and that we need to follow them as we should be and not by how we view or see it so that when the lord speaks that we may hear him when he calls and that we know that we have done our job of following the laws set in stone many centuries ago.
  • BishopBowman on Deuteronomy 5 - 11 years ago
If we keep the good in God's ten commandments we also have to be on guard because wherever there is good their is always evil in the shadows so to keep doing good by God we have to learn to protect ourselves from evil while we still abide by the laws of God.
  • John Mitchell on Deuteronomy 5 - 11 years ago

To maintain the status of people under covenant with God, we need to learn, keep and do according to the LORD's judgements.
  • StephendeRafael on Deuteronomy 5 - 13 years ago
This chapter is critical in the bible, for here they witnessed God as a furnace of fire, heard his voice and declared that He was alive, not as flesh, but as Spirit, declaring the law by which we shall live, the commanments, the arc of the covenant, and God said the if only we will hearken to these laws that it would go well with us, that we would live as well.
