    David.

    Part 2.

This reminds me of John 6:60 when

many actually stopped following Jesus that day he said here in the Gospel of John 6:48-58.

Jesus three times identifies Himself as that spiritual bread ( John 6:35, 48, 51).

And twice He emphasizes faith (a spiritual action) as the key to salvation:

"My Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life" (verse 40)

and "Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life" (verse 47).

Jesus then compares and contrasts Himself to the manna that Israel had eaten in the time of Moses: "Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die" John 6:49-50.

The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life" ( John 6:63). Those who misunderstood Jesus and were offended by His talk about eating His flesh and drinking His blood were stuck in a physical mindset, ignoring the things of the Spirit. They were concerned with getting another physical meal, so Jesus uses the realm of the physical to teach a vital spiritual truth.

At the Last Supper, Jesus gives a similar message.

We are to proclaim the Lord's death until he comes"

    1 Corinthians 11:26.

Jesus was speaking metaphorically about His flesh and blood and hold that the bread and wine are symbolic of the spiritual bond created with Christ through faith.

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God'" ( Matthew 4:4, quoting Deuteronomy 8:3). The implication is that the bread is God's Word and that is what sustains us. Jesus is called the Word of God who came to earth and was made flesh ( John 1:14). The Word of God is also the Bread of Life ( John 6:48).

    God bless.

The bigger picture: Brothers and sisters in Christ and the armies of heaven.

Revelation 2:27 has a cross reference somewhere but it is hard to find...in Psalms regarding the inheritance of the saints and ruling with an iron rod. Of course Christ Himself will do this as shown in Psalm 2:7-9 and elsewhere.

There are numerous other verses such as in Ephesians on inheritance and what as sons of light we will have someday ( Eph. 5:8; 1 Thess. 5:5). There is also the reference in the Book of Hebrews to the "cloud of witnesses" ( Heb. 12:1) with specific references in the previous chapter to those who lived lives of faith and are in God's "hall of fame" so to speak. Psalm 8:2 even talks of God's strength in the praise of infants; which was quoted in Matthew 11:25 (also see Matthew 21:15-16 for fulfillment).

Ephesians 6 gives us instructions to be victors on the battlefield with only one offensive weapon; the sword of the Spirit ( Eph. 6:17). This is something only effective when we have the entire defensive mechanism set up to stop the fiery darts of the evil one in the previous verse.

We often are quick to point out the persecution; wars; famines and other trials that believers go through which is no doubt an essential concern in prayer. The fact is that there is a battle raging all the time for the souls of men; Christ has won the war and ultimately all He has called and chosen will be saved. This doesn't by any means lessen the conflict but gives us assurance that the Lord will direct those who He wills in our paths to minister to; and pray for. 1 Peter 4:19 discusses prosperity and trials as they come and go in our lives; and Ecclesiastes 7:14 shows God's Providence. I would state that it appears when things are going well it is a more accurate test to determine faithfullness as that is when sin in most likely to take root. In adversity many will fear the Lord; but the faithful will not forget His benefits ( Deuteronomy 8:10-18). Also read Eph. 2:10

    Page 1.

Thanks Jimbob, you've presented some interesting information, which I will begin with from your first page.

    a. the question of preservation of God's Word. Is the Bible telling us (as in Psalm 12:6,7) that God's Word will remain untouched, unchanged, unadulterated forever? Or, are the Words of God, throughout the OT & NT, given as utterly pure & reliable from the Mouth of God to his servants the prophets, to deliver to God's people? And this Word given will abide forever, even to its fulfilment - nothing, not even one jot or tittle can be changed from what God has decreed & will perform.

Then we come to the recording of that Word, first by those who wrote & passed them onto Israel. We then get the Septuagint (the Hebrew OT translated into Greek for the benefit of the Greek-speaking Jews in Egypt). Other translations developed throughout the centuries. Can we confidently state that God would have protected His Word, first given to Israel, throughout those translations? We know for a fact that there are errors (minor & major) in all the translations we have available to us. You have listed a couple (which I'll come to later), & we can't forget that even in the KJV, queries can be raised, such Deuteronomy 8:9, "a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass." We know that brass cannot be dug out of the ground; copper is found in the earth, from which bronze is produced (a name given for a variety of copper alloys); as also for 'brass', a combination of copper & zinc. Why then did the KJV translators use 'brass', instead of 'copper' (Heb: 'nechosheth')? Were they thinking of the final product, but shouldn't they translate it as given?

I understand this as do what you will do,

Then notice it says Ecclesiasticus 32:7-18, is in context, also saying " do not sin by proud speech"

Doesn't that point to another scripture Ecclesiastes 9:10, Deuteronomy 8:18,

John 21:16,17, Jesus said this directly to one person, Simon, Son of Jonas, called Peter. To understand more deeply, you would have to follow the scriptures that happened prior.

Please read: John 10:1-18, Psalms 100:3,

    Luke 12:22-32,

Matthew 26:31-75, Mark 14:27-72, Matthew 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-25, prophecy from Old Testament: Isaiah 53, Zechariah 13:7,

    Example of people lovingly referred to as sheep : 2Samuel 24:17, 1Chronicles 21:17, 2Chronicles 18:16, Psalms 74:1, Psalms 78:52, Psalms 79:13, Ezekiel 34:6,

    Matthew 9:26, Matthew 18:12,13, Mark 6:24, 1Peter 2:25, compassion,

    Deuteronomy 8:3,

John 6:47-69, notice in that moment "Simon Peter"'s reply: John 6:68,

    FOR IT IS WRITTEN!!

A number of times during His earthly ministry, Jesus responded to questions with, "It is written" (7 times in Matthew, 4 times in Mark, 5 times in Luke, 1 time in John). In the Bible, we also read of many time when Jesus quoted the truths of God from the Hebrew Scriptures.

Satan doesn't dispute whether it was written or not. He tries to redefine the word of God.

    as seen here.

    Genesis 3:4-5. and

    Matthew 4:3-7, 10.

Notice every rebuke came from Jesus was by the written scripture.

    3) And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

    4) But he answered and said, IT IS WRITTEN, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. ( Deuteronomy 8:3.)

    5) Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

    6) And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ( Psalms 91:11-12.)

    7) Jesus said unto him, IT IS WRITTEN again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

    ( Deuteronomy 6:16.)

    10) Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for IT IS WRITTEN, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ( Deuteronomy 6:13. Deuteronomy 10:20.)

it's interesting The Lord and Satan goes back and forward over what is written.

They both took the scripture literally! The issue is how to apply it.

With Eve the Devil tactic was to misinform.

With the Lord the Devil tried to misapply scripture.

When the enemy can't remove the scripture he set tares amongst us to distort the ministry in every way possible.

    NOTE:

The notion that there is no Hell and there is no Satan comes from the same Evil source that told Eve she shall not surely die.

    God bless.

Possibly because it would be a moment of extreme weakness. Matthew 4:2, Luke 4:2, Hebrews 4:15,

This was also a moment of Prophetic fulfillment. Luke 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:3, John 6:58,

    John,

I would like to share my thoughts on verses 3 and 4. First, to answer the question on whether or not Jesus responded appropriately. I'm one of those people that believe everything Jesus did was perfect, so I would have to answer yes to that.

Now for verses 3 and 4:

Verses 3 and 4 is the first of three temptations. But let me say this first, that even though Satan was tempting Jesus, He could never give in to temptation. Satan starts off by saying, "If thou be the Son of God, command these stones be made bread."

If I may share some technical information with you, the word "if" in the Greek text is what is called the first class condition assumed to be true. It should be translated "since." But please know that when Satan was tempting Jesus, he was not tempting Him to prove that He was the Son of God.

Satan is saying (since) you are the Son of God, then do this: Misuse your authority. Misuse your position. Be disobedient to your heavenly Father. But please note that Satan is not asking Jesus to prove Himself to be the Son of God, but actually questioning Him, baiting Him to disobey the commandments of God.

Jesus answers in verse 4, which is a quote from Deuteronomy 8:3. He says man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from out of the mouth of God. So this was what Jesus said when Satan tried to tempt Him by saying, you are hungry, right? You see these stones? Turn them into bread, satisfy your hunger, since you are the Son of God.
  • I John 2:17 - In Reply - 3 years ago
You must have some idea what constitutes an appropriate response, since you question Jesus in this regard. You imply he just should have said "Yes" or "No". Do you mean he should not have referenced scripture? The temptation seemed to be for Christ to exercise his miraculous power merely to meet his own personal bodily needs, and his refusal to do so in the most dire of personal circumstances would presumably steel him for similar though less onerous circumstances in his subsequent ministry. It proved he would not abuse his miraculous power. Interestingly though he did subsequently perform directly analogous acts, *for the benefit of others*, e.g. the feeding of the five thousand, also him causing a coin to materialize in the mouth of a fish to pay the temple tax for him and the apostles, etc.

But regarding the scripture he referenced, Deuteronomy 8:3 (you did go look that up for yourself before posting, right?) it is God telling the Children of Israel that he humbled them by making them hungry so he could then miraculously provide them manna from Heaven, so that they would learn that, "Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."

In the same passage God references the Hebrews being in the wilderness 40 years, during which he miraculously sustained them. So clearly Jesus being 40 days in the wilderness is an intentional metaphor for that -- he was reliving the 40 years in the wilderness in microcosm. Incidentally, he had this temptation regarding bread at the very end of the forty days, at which point your stomach starts to digest itself, i.e. he was in agonizing pain. (Were you perhaps munching on an apple as you speculated that Christ's response didn't seem appropriate?) So he knew he was effectively at the end of his own ordeal, and perhaps tempted to jump the gun a little. Then the very next temptation to jump off the tower was Satan's perverse spin on the whole point of the fast -- relying on God.

Precious friend, Naresh. You do realize reading and studying are two different things? I would suggest "reading" to be 3-5 (or more, IF you wish...) chapters a day and that will take about a year to "read" the Whole Bible (KJV). This is good so that you can "...live By EVERY Word That Proceedeth Out Of The Mouth Of God." ( Deuteronomy 8:3) ( Matthew 4:4) ( Luke 4:4)

For life-long "studying" I recommend starting With: "What God Is Doing Today, Under GRACE, And Specifically WHO HE IS, And HIS Salvation For us," found in Romans Through Philemon, KJV, prayerfully And Carefully, and study According To The Following Bible "study" Rules: ( 1 Corinthians 14:40) ( 2 Timothy 2:15) ( Deuteronomy 4:2) ( Deuteronomy 12:32) ( Proverbs 30:5-6) ( Revelation 22:18-19 KJB!) ( Acts 17:11) ( Isaiah 28:10) ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17) ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17) ( 1 Corinthians 2:13)

The Best "Interpretive" Commentary On The Bible Is The BIBLE Itself!:

NEVER ever interpret The Many Plain Scriptures by the "few" difficult verses, But, ALWAYS Always Interpret the few Obscure/Difficult/Dubious verses By ALL Of The MANY Plain and Clear Passages Of God's Pure And Holy Word!

    Finally:

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do ALL to The Glory Of God!" ( 1 Corinthians 10:31)

Naresh, hope this helps on your reading/studying journey, and saves you from a lot of Confusion of the enemy...

In the face of everything before us, covid, our failing economy, closing of our churches and many other things; our prayer should be for God's will to be done.

First we continue to worship the Lord almighty, according to scripture.( Luke 4:8)

We pray for the lost to find salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. ( Romans 10:1)

Pray for the those in authority that we may live a quiet and peaceful life. ( 1 Tim 2:1,2)

We who are saved in Christ know that the Lord will come soon, (1 These 4: 14-18) so our desire should be as the Lord's desire is.

No one is lost to eternity. ( 2 Peter 3:9)

May the Lord bless all with wisdom and fortitude to carry out God's will for His glory and praise.

    Hello again, Chris,

Thank you for the response! Before yesterday I had never even discovered this website-format, much less written in it. I found it in Internet-looking up the KJV for purposes in helping another person in pulling it up on-line if they did not have a KJV, so as to try to show them things that would lead them to that Wonderful Saving Knowledge of our Blessed Savior, Almighty God Jesus Christ!...and here we are!

Please tell me a little about yourself, and your relationship with Jesus Christ and your interest in studying His Bible! What are some of your favorite Scriptures?!

I am 68 and received Christ when age 17, growing up in Miami, Florida. I came out of a quite strong and dedicated Catholic background - Catholic schooling and being an "altar boy", and "knowing" Catholicism was the "only true religion" - when someone in my junior year of high school, now in a public school, showed me Ephesians 2:8&9, John 1:12, and II Corinthians 5:17. Catholics never teach, recommend, or at all emphasize individual Bible learning, and being able to buy my own copy and read it was revolutionary to me! They emphasize Catholicism-only, what the priest says, completely missing and denying the need for what God says in the last clause of Deuteronomy 8:3 and the related Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4.

Big to me also then quickly became Isaiah 26:3, Psalm 119:11, and Romans 12:1&2. That Glorious Grace Salvation of Ephesians 2:8&9 I immediately saw completely destroyed Catholicism's evil doctrine of works-salvation, and that Truth greatly spoke to me. Seeing that and all these beginning Truths in my life greatly blessed and thrilled my heart and understanding! Another few of my favorite Scriptures in and of life have become III John 2 & 4, Jeremiah 15:16, and Psalms 94:19, 103:3&4 & 111:2 which says, "The works of The Lord are great, sought out of all that have pleasure therein"!!

Best regards, which is always Jesus Christ Himself! Richard.

The very station in life that your friend finds demeaning is rather a great honor and a gift from God.

From the beginning, man was created to work for God ( Genesis 2:15). The woman was then specially created as the help most suitable to accomplish that purpose ( Genesis 2:20-25).

The Lord's value system is quite opposite what the world judges worthwhile. If your friend knows the forgiveness and redemption gained by Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection from the dead, then she has an eternal purpose and reward in the perfect will of God. ( 1 Corinthians 15:58, 1 Peter 3)

Being an excellent mother carries a far greater weight of glory and influence than any of the vain achievements or self promotion touted in this world's marketplace. ( Proverbs 31:10-31)

The Bible has many accounts of women who by faith achieved great things for the Lord, including:

    Sara: Hebrews 11:11-12

    Rebekah: Genesis 24-27

    Leah and Rachel: Genesis 29-

    Shiphrah and Puah: Exodus 1:15-21

Moses' mother and sister Miriam: Exodus 2

    Rahab: Joshua 2, Joshua 6

    Deborah: Judges 4

    Jael: Judges 4

    Naomi and Ruth: Ruth 1-4

    Hannah: 1 Samuel 1-2

    Esther: Esther 1-10

    Elisabeth: Luke 1

    Mary: Matthew 1-

Martha and Mary: Luke 10, John 11

The faithful women at the crucifixion of Jesus after the disciples fled: Matthew 27:55-56

Mary Magdalene: Mark 16, John 20 - (The very first person to meet the risen Lord Jesus Christ),

along with many other notable followers in the early church.

Once the fire was out and the soft parts consumed the bones could be buried latter in a safe place ,just my thoughts ,a bit morbid ! Sorry.

Hello James. As far as I know, the Bible is silent on this topic, probably because it was not a practice of God's people, rather more in line to what the heathen would do. The references that come up are found in the Old Testament: 1 Samuel 31:11-13; Amos 2:1; Leviticus 20:14. However, Israel generally resorted to burial in a tomb, cave or ground: Genesis 23:19; 2 Chronicles 16:14; Matthew 27:57-60.

So, the Church is not given a specific direction on this, as ultimately, the body returns to dust "from whence it came" ( Ecclesiastes 12:7). It then becomes the decision by the family of the departed to have a burial or a cremation, depending on preference, costs, or availability. My choice would always be for a burial, in line with what was practised by Israel.

ACLJ website needs our signatures. Now

They've ve warned you that the radical Left has been trying to weaponize COVID-19 to push their extreme agenda. And churches have been their first target.

The Bible commands us to praise & worship: "Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!" - Psalm 100:2

The radical Left has literally used the pandemic to forbid you from following this Scripture. It's the most draconian abuse of power in a pandemic. And it's blatantly unconstitutional.

In fact, the Supreme Court recently issued several MAJOR rulings for churches, and we've filed a critical brief at the Supreme Court to stop the SHUTDOWN of churches for good.

JUST HOURS AGO, a state legislature passed a bill we helped draft to ensure that churches are essential and CANNOT BE SHUT DOWN. Earlier this week we served discovery; and TODAY, we are planning to make a critical legal filing in federal court in our MASSIVE lawsuit against the church singing ban.

But as we go head-to-head against a powerful state government (California/Pelosi). and its inexhaustible resources, we need Your signature on the petitions.

    Thanks.

62.10 But the Lord of Spirits will then so press them that they will hasten to go out from before Him, and their faces will be filled with shame, and the darkness will grow deeper on their faces.

62.11 And the Angels of Punishment will take them so that they may repay them for the wrong that they did to His children and to His chosen ones.

62.12 And they will become a spectacle to the righteous and to His chosen ones; they will rejoice over them, for the anger of the Lord of Spirits will rest upon them, and the sword of the Lord of Spirits will be drunk with them.

62.13 And the righteous and the chosen will be saved on that Day and they will never see the faces of the sinners and the lawless from then on.

62.14 And the Lord of Spirits will remain over them and with that Son of Man they will dwell, and eat, and lie down, and rise up, forever and ever.

62.15 And the righteous and chosen will have risen from the earth, and will have ceased to cast down their faces, and will have put on the Garment of Life.

62.16 And this will be a Garment of Life from the Lord of Spirits; and your garments will not wear out, and your glory will not fail, in front of the Lord of Spirits. Amen.

62.1 And thus the Lord commanded the kings, and the mighty and the exalted, and those who dwell upon the earth, and said: "Open your eyes and raise your horns if you are able to acknowledge the Chosen One."

62.2 And the Lord of Spirits sat on His Throne of Glory, and the spirit of righteousness was poured out on Him, and the word of his mouth kills all the sinners and all the lawless, and they are destroyed in front of Him.

62.3 And on that Day, all the kings and the mighty and the exalted, and those who possess the earth, will stand up and they will see and recognize how He sits on the Throne of His Glory. And the righteous are judged in righteousness, in front of Him, and no idle word is spoken in front of Him.

62.4 And pain will come upon them as upon a woman in labour, for whom giving birth is difficult when her child enters the mouth of the womb, and she has difficulty giving birth.

62.5 And one half of them will look at the other, and they will be terrified, and will cast down their faces, and pain will take hold of them when they see that son of a woman sitting on the throne of His Glory.

62.6 And the mighty kings, and all those who possess the earth, will praise and bless and exalt Him who rules everything that is hidden.
