Hi Adam What you stated is the sum of it.
  • Chris - In Reply on Ecclesiastes 7 - 3 years ago
Hi Robert, I think you're looking at the Bible reference next to the commenters' name. That's misleading as often that reference has nothing to do with the subject matter - it's seems to be a random Scripture selection. In this thread, the subject is on water baptism & Adam has given the correct response.
  • Adam - In Reply on Ecclesiastes 7 - 3 years ago
It looks like you either didn't read the thread or replied to the wrong person.
  • Robert - In Reply on Ecclesiastes 7 - 3 years ago
There is nothing in Ecclesiastes that says to disobey Christ. What specifically are you talking about? In fact, nothing in the bible anywhere says to disobey Christ. I think there may be a misunderstanding.
  • Adam - In Reply on Ecclesiastes 7 - 3 years ago
A lot of words were written there with the goal of disobeying Jesus? I would think Christ followers would be excited to obey Christ. The Bible clearly says to be baptized. It's not complicated. Acts 2:38

Put another way, there's no downside and only upside to obeying Christ and being baptized, right? So, why all the effort to justify disobeying and convince others to do the same?

Mark, Precious friend, there is NO water baptism, today, Under God's GRACE. ie:

Does God Require water baptism, today? IF yes, then, we have to find out WHICH of the Many Various "denominational traditions" is the Correct one, Correct?

However, IF God Says "NO," as I believe All Scripture Shows below, then "yes" is OUT of the question, yes?:

"Summary study" on this Important Issue:

Prophecy/Law for ISRAEL: The Twelve Were Sent to water baptize!

The TWO Main, of 12 baptisms =

    A) water, For remission of sins/induction into Israeli "priesthood!" ( Matthew 3:5-6) ( Mark 1:4) ( Luke 3:3) ( John 1:31) ( Luke 7:29-30) ( Acts 10:37) ( Matthew 28:19) ( Mark 16:16) ( Acts 2:38) ( Acts 22:16) ( Ezekiel 36:25) ( John 18:35) ( Exodus 19:6)

    +

    B) WITH The Holy Spirit, Poured Out By CHRIST, for power, signs And wonders! ( Isaiah 44:3) ( Matthew 3:11) ( Mark 1:8) ( Mark 16:17-18) ( Luke 24:49) ( Acts 2:17-18) ( Acts 2:38) ( Acts 8:15-17) ( Acts 11:16)

    Prophecy/Law

Rightly Divided ( 2 Timothy 2:15) From Things That Differ!:

Mystery/GRACE! = our "apostle to the Gentiles" for The Body Of CHRIST:

Paul Was Not Sent to {water} baptize! Why Not?:

Today: Only ONE Baptism = "BY" The ONE Spirit = God's OPERATION,

Spiritually Identifying members In (The ONE Body Of) CHRIST!!

    ( Ephesians 4:5) ( Colossians 2:12) ( Galatians 3:27) ( Romans 6:3-4)

    ( 1 Corinthians 12:13)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conclusion: God's ONE Baptism Today? = ONE OR, EQUALS TWO?

Is it not Possible That God's Answer Of "No water baptism, for us Today," Under HIS Pure GRACE, absolutely vanquishes the {Many Severely DIVIDED denominations?} Confusion into oblivion!? Also, "...we walk By FAITH, Not by sight..." ( 2 Corinthians 5:7) Amen?

Mark, Precious friend, Please be Richly Encouraged, enlightened, exhorted, and edified!

On your question of water baptism being 'required' for salvation. The apostle Paul in his letters spoke many times of living for the Lord and the many characteristics that would confirm that new nature. Salvation is twofold. First, one must trust Christ as Savior for the forgiveness of their sins. Secondly, and of equal weight, they must embrace Him as Lord of their life. When one comes to the realization of their wretched state in relation to God, they should call upon the Lord for his mercy to forgive them their trespasses and then be prepared to receive the grace provided by the Holy Spirit to follow His mandates, statutes, and commands. Among the first of these would be water immersion, if possible.

But, if not possible for reasons of location, current physical condition or other unique factors, God would not negate the forgiveness of sins for that believer. He would simply start the walk of obedience from that point on. If situations are permitted in future time, the Holy Spirit could be relied upon to prompt that person to complete that obligation then.

Remember, faith and obedience. They go hand in hand for the follower of Christ and God.

    Hi Myra,

This very simple: do you want to follow Jesus or not?

If you want to follow Jesus, Jesus said to be baptized in Matthew 28:19.

It also says to be baptized in Acts 2:38.

So, it's very simple- either you follow what Jesus says or you don't. Those who follow Jesus are called Christ-followers or Christians. Genuine Christians have an opporunity to have their sins forgiven and spend eternity with God. I want that, but strangely most don't and are only interested in figuring out how to do the bare minimum while mostly seeking pleasure in sin and doing whatever they want. Motives must be questioned of anyone that doesn't want to follow Jesus's teachings or are seeking to do the bare minimum. It's really one or the other. Either we follow Jesus or we don't. God bless.

please answer this Im confessed I was told you have to baptized to go to Heaven and I heard from my son that a preacher told him you dont i was raised by my Christian Grandmother and she said you do
  • Adam - In Reply on Matthew 24 - 3 years ago
Hi Andrew, that's not what that verse means. Having the holy spirit sealed to you doesn't mean you're stripped of freewill to commit sin and doesn't mean you don't have choices still of who you will follow: Jesus or satan. We're not saved until after we're judged and this doesn't happen until after this life. 1 Peter 1:5 - "...salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Matthew 7:21

Also blasphemy was mentioned as a warning for a reason. If someone claims Christians are without sin they are not being honest, Ecclesiastes 7:20. And someone claiming they can do whatever they want (sin) and face no consequences are gravely mistaken. John 14:15.

    Hello Catherine,

Seeing your post a verse comes to mind. Though it is not exactly what you state about to "mourn birth". Ecclesiastes 7:1.

I know of a couple other things about death being "good". For those who are with the Lord of coarse. If you're interested let me know.

    God Bless.

The scriptures say "there is no unrighteous in God" ( Proverbs 92:15). So, if there is no righteousness in God, I would think that the other one that the Lord was mentioning was satan. Otherwise, they (God and Satan) are both spiritual beings that identify good vs evil. When God created man in a human bodily form he only knew what was good, (that came from God) until he ate from the forbidden tree. Once man sinned against God by eating from the tree and listened to the voice of the enemy (the devil), his eyes were opened to see what was now evil, just as it was with satan when he also turned his back on God. This is my own personal interpretation.

Ecclesiastes 3:14-17 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

Ecclesiastes 5:8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Ecclesiastes 7:8-9 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

2 Timothy 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

The Lord has indeed given you back your life & your daughter. That was wonderful to read & to praise His Name for. The restoration of your relationship with your daughter of course brings on an active pursuit by both of you to build upon. The things that go hand-in-hand in any deep & meaningful relationship is: understanding, communication & readiness to apologize & forgive. So many relationships suffer through lack of these, even one.

I'm sure that it's in your heart to build up on what God has done for you both. Every blessing as you step out in God's Strength & Wisdom, stepping out in each new day holding onto Him & in faith being the Mother & confidant you need to be for her & that she seeks from you.

In reference to Verse 9 of Ecclesiastes chapter 7, God answered a prayer for me today, I finally got my daughter to let go of anger, and help us rebuild our relationship. This will forever be the verse I refer to where God answered my prayer. He is an awesome GOD, not only curing my Cancer but now giving me back my daughter. I will forever praise HIS HOLY NAME!!

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Proverbs 8:11-12 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Luke 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out

Proverbs 3:13 Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding.

Proverbs 17:27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

    Ecclesiastes 7:1-29 A good name is better than precious ointment;

1 Corinthians 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

As I watch the heartache, deceit, betrayal, and selfishness in crumbling marriages all around, couldn't this verse be referring to the end of sorrows for some and the potential for likely pain, albeit in growth, for the other? I'm finding little desire to go to any wedding celebrations bc it means stretching and growth and potentially heartache and separation.
  • SUICIDE or LIFE IN THE SPIRIT - In Reply on Isaiah 13:10 - 4 years ago
Hebrews 12:25 and 1 Corinthians 10:13 are the strongest scriptures for not committing suicide.

If one is going to throw their lives away, why not give that life to Jesus? Give your life to Him, and take Jesus's Life so you can live. Call on Jesus and receive help.

    1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a WAY TO ESCAPE, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Ecclesiastes 7:17 Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

James 4:7-10 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Romans 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

John 16:33 - These things I have spoken unto you, that IN ME you might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

    Proverbs 8:36

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

If they will trust Jesus and be born again

John 3, and receive the Holy Spirits baptism; God will turn your spirit ON and you will experience a new, different kind of life. People who are alive spiritually can suddenly HEAR the voice of their Heavenly Father, speaking to them through their innermost being. The Holy Spirit comes alongside to Comfort and protect the new Life. Do it.

I don't think that there is a Scripture specifically on that. Suicide, or self-murder, may fall under the same command from God, "Thou shalt not kill", or wilfully take a person's life. Even though, the intent of that command would apply to the murder of someone else which is sin & damnable, it could well be applied to one who takes his own life. We often hear from suicide supporters that "this is my body & I have the right to do what I want with it". Actually, this body is not ours - it is a gift from God so that our spirits can be housed in it to enjoy God's creation & living a God-centred life (though of course, most keep God out of their lives & minds).

With someone who murders another, as heinous a sin that it is, he still has a chance to repent, be forgiven, be born again & gain eternal life. A person who commits suicide (murders himself) obviously has no chance at all to receive God's forgiveness & so we conclude that he is an unforgiven sinner under God's judgement. But of course, that is God's (not our) final judgement of that person because of the situation he's in, as no person who suicides does it without going through some deep waters in his life.
