I would like to add something to your initial question: Is it not flesh and blood (people) that runs these principalities?

The answer is yes. Satan the devil has a 'seed', in both the spiritual and physical realms. Remember the conversation Christ had with Satan in the wilderness. Satan displayed for Christ all the kingdoms of this world and offered them to Christ in exchange for one act of worship. He also stated that he has the authority to give it to whomever he chose.

Thus, we should be aware that this world we live in today is ruled by Satan and he puts in positions of power whomever he chooses. Also he is called 'the god of this world'. ( 2 Cor 4:4) Therefore, the need for the 'spiritual armor' The Most High encourages us to wear for protection in this world - Satan's world.

Now, your second question: So is it useless to pray for this world?

The answer is yes and no. Yes, we constantly pray that those we have occasion to speak with might 'hear' our words and withdraw from this wicked world. As Christ said: We are no part of the world, as he was no part of the world. So yes we should pray that some might join us in turning our backs on this dying wicked world we live in today. It is doomed and will be replaced by the Kingdom of God. ( Dan 2:44)

On the other hand, NO, we do not pray for Satan's continued dominion over the earth. He and his 'seed', visible and invisible must be removed to make room for the Kingdom we were taught by Christ to pray for. Amen.

The phrase "full armor of God" comes from Ephesians 6:13-17: "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness (the righteousness of Jesus Christ) in place,

and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

The sword of the Spirit is all of the scriptures you have committed to memory.

6:12 For our wrestling is not only, not chiefly, against flesh and blood - Weak men, or fleshly appetites. But against principalities, against powers - The mighty princes of all the infernal legions. And great is their power, and that likewise of those legions whom they command. Against the rulers of the world - Perhaps these principalities and powers remain mostly in the citadel of their kingdom of darkness. But there are other evil spirits who range abroad, to whom the provinces of the world are committed. Of the darkness - This is chiefly spiritual darkness. Of this age - Which prevails during the present state of things. Against wicked spirits - Who continually oppose faith, love, holiness, either by force or fraud; and labour to infuse unbelief, pride, idolatry malice, envy, anger, hatred. Eph 6:12 For we wrestle. Fights then were a hand to hand grapple. Not against flesh and blood. While flesh and blood may seem to assail us, the real enemies are evil spiritual powers. Against principalities, against powers. These terms designate different rank of evil spirits. These were fallen angels (see Ro 8:38). The same terms are applied to the different ranks of holy angels in Eph 1:21. Against the rulers of the darkness of this world. Satan is described as the ruler of this world (Joh 12:31 14:30 16:11) and the god of this world ( 2Co 4:4). Sadly, some parents seem to teach this mantra: "Do what I say, not what I do." Unfortunately, this doesn't work. Even our Perfect Father God sent Jesus Christ as an example so that we would have a role model to follow.

The cure for our failing national morality is for parents to REPENT FIRST and THEN the children will follow.

Scripture tells us to bring our children early to the House of God ( 1 Samuel 1:24) and to train them in the ways of God ( Deuteronomy 31:12,13; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4). Even at a young age children can seek and "speak" God's strength.

We have now largely robbed children of that Promised experience. Recent statistics by George Barna show that only 4% of "millennials" have a Biblical worldview, 96% are open to the changing morays of a humanistic culture. Sin has almost disappeared as a concept. They don't know what they don't know.

Join me in repenting in ways that we have failed as parents and as a culture to train our children to walk in God's Way, Truth and Life. Parents are the most influential role models for our children and we must not allow them to be passively taken over by today's media and declining culture.

The breastplate is the righteousness of God in Christ. Can't fight spiritual warfare in our own righteousness. Occult & witchcraft and sorcery demons are scary. Do not read stupid horoscopes... they use that for doors inside.

We can ask God to send angels, to guard the house, the kids, the car. We do not tell the angels what to do. They report to heaven. Angels in heaven praise God, so sometimes I play worship music and sing.

Have an awareness of heaven. Anything in your home that's a bad influence on anybody, needs to be let go. Kids and teenagers can watch Christian cartoons, Bible stories, and movies on YouTubeTv. You hook it up to your tv. Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. Gently wean your kids over to Christian media.

Many years ago, I heard a preacher share how, at the start of each day, he would take each piece of his spiritual armour & animatedly put it on himself. This made the act of preparedness to face each day, with the Enemy of our souls at the door, a graphical reminder of how every part of his body was prepared for the day's battle. This at first sounded a little childish & simplistic, but it meant to him, being alert in mind & spirit as he stepped outside his front door. I say, that if it takes a few minutes each day to do this & we are better prepared to tackle the enemy, then go for it. But watchfulness is the key & not spiritual slumber. May you grow closer to your Lord & win many battles with your holy Armour.

This is so powerful.We have to remember to put on the Full Armor of God everyday. The day is so much better when i start with this chapter.

Dear God, I thank you that your word says that you know what I need before I ask. I am seeking employment and trusting you to place me in the best position. Not only to meet my financial needs but to contribute to my success in future endeavors.

It is clear that we are fighting a spiritual war against enemies who are far greater in numbers, intelligence, subtlety, and power than Israel had to wage war against in terms of the Amalekites, the Moabites, and so forth. In addition, our enemy is invisible."Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might."

You're right that Satan is the god of this World, but Almighty God our Father is also the Creator of this World & mankind. Ultimately, we have to answer to God not to Satan for the condition of our hearts & quality of our lives. If Satan created us, then I agree, God is out of the picture & praying to Him would be useless. So, if we're so burdened to pray for the world, & specific sinners particularly, then this must be a good thing which is in harmony with the Purposes of God who created us.

"And we know Satan is the God of this world". ? So is it useless to pray for this world?

Sheila, when we look at this chapter in Ephesians from verse 10, we see the apostle Paul speaking about the Devil (v11). So when he speaks about "flesh & blood" you have understood this correctly, that it refers to people. So the contrast to this fight is found in the spiritual realm, the part of the invisible world of spirits that our human eyes cannot see.

The mention of "principalities, powers, rulers of darkness & spiritual wickedness" are all terms referring to this spirit world of evil. And we know that the god of this world is the devil ( 2 Cor 4:4, Jn 12:31, 16:11) for he rules for now, capturing the hearts of many, seducing & causing them to believe in his lies. He's have a wild time with mankind & knows that his days are numbered when he, his wicked demons, & all who reject the Lord & His Christ, will one day be locked away forever - all sin will have gone & we will return to the beauty & perfection which was in Eden.

You mentioned specifically 'principalities'. A principality is an area, whether small or large, that is ruled by a prince. My earlier Bible references speak of this 'prince'. He has ruined God's creation with sin & suffering & has a host of angels (demons) that do his bidding. He wreaks havoc over the world, yet so many are blissfully unaware of his presence & power & believe this is a normal life we live. But those who have put their trust in God & attend to His Word are Satan's prime targets & we need to remain vigilant, putting on the whole armour of God (vv 13-18) & defeat him daily in the Lord's Power. We can't get away from it - we are in a fight - the battle will be long - but the end is victory through Jesus Christ ( 1 Cor 15:57).

My ex husband has been evil to me for over 20 years. I pray to God that he will stop making it difficult for me and that the Lord swiftly prevents him from continuing to hurt me financially. I pray for financial relief quickly in the name of our Lord and Savior and my family be protected and blessed. Praise the Lord.

I have said this prayer many time, please pray for me as I travel on my journey.

Jesus said to turn the other cheek Matthew 5:39, but in my opinion that means to not seek vengeance or to retaliate to participate in endless quarrels or conflicts. We are called to be an example of love and called to forgive. That doesn't mean we should forsake our personal safety or safety of our family or loved ones. We also should protect ourselves and loved ones as our bodies are valuable holy temples and we need to be good stewards of our gifts, talents, and our ability to serve others. The Bible also talks about being on our guard, prepared, with the armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-18.

So, it's my opinion that we should take care of ourselves, including physically, like what we eat, exercise, hygiene, security, and personal safety. For safety there are lots of ways to protect oneself and ones property, like door alarms, security light sensors, cameras, pepper spray, dazzler lights, loud sirens, decoys, surprises, extra secure doors, windows, layers. I personally would do 100% of that before buying firearms, but that is my personal opinion. Even though we should protect ourselves we should not fear, but trust God. Matthew 10:28. This Word of God Ephesians 6: 10-18 teaches us to stand strong in faith in Jesus name. To put on the armor of God. We are called to war in the spirit, we can't see the devil but He sees us because Christ is in us.

I've found that enemy will use anyone to try to destroy our faith in who God says we are in His Word.

Many things are spiritual warfare, but I don't believe all things are. For example, job problems or worry about a virus. In some states the virus is less severe than a normal flu season. Around 7,500 die in the US every day and 10,000 are born, so when the media ignores the top risks and only talks about the lower risks and stirs everyone into a panic it does everyone a disservice, so I would not trust them. Trust God.

You have a wealth of Bible Knowledge but are any lambs being saved with weighty speech? Don't you want to receive a Crown at Bema Seat? What would Jesus do? He showed us in His Gospels. If we are His followers we will imitate what he was Doing.

Multitudes of people are committing suicide for unbelievable reasons. That's on Satans scoreboard. Is there anyone who will challenge that? Do you know how to take the scriptures and frighten the demons off of someone on a chair with a rope around their neck? Or a hypodermic needle going in an arm.
